My recent stay at this Candlewood Suutes property was outstanding! From check-in to check-out it was more than I expected. Right off the highway and close to food options the stay allowed flexibility. Room was complete with kitchen and was comfortable. I will definitely keep this property at the top of my list.
We stayed at this location for 10 days due to our home being renovated. It was clean and provided what we needed. The employees were friendly and helped when we had questions or needed anything. When my son and dog got caught in the rain, the front desk worker was waiting with a towel so they could dry off. I enjoyed our stay and would recommend as a economical, clean and simple location for your extended stay needs.
I can say this hotel met my expectations,, BUT IM NOT. The staff Jorge was the best DESPITE the problem with the drains. My sink drain was MOLASSES SLOW. So if you get a room there check the drains.PLEASE DONT EVEN COUNT ON THE WHIRLPOOL !!!! If the reason your booking is that PASS IT UP.,, My shower is hotter then that AND jets WHAT JETS call it sizzle.
I stayed in 3 different rooms over a 3 week period. Rooms are generally clean. Staff is friendly. In two of the rooms I was in, the phone was very poor quality connection. Almost couldnt converse. The other room I did not use the phone. The internet is iffy. Hit or miss. When it works its OK at best but will get the job done. When its not working forget it. If you call the desk with an internet problem they give you an 800# for tech support, which I didnt use. I had problems 2 out if my 3 stays and fixed it myself one time and didnt bother the other time. There is no business center. There is a computer and printer in the lobby but best to walk on by unless you want to aggravate your ulcer. It took me between 15 and 20 minutes to print 3 pages. It is slower than molasses in the north pole on its coldest day. Overall though, if money is an issue the place is a decent value. Apparently they have several long term guests here as well. I would stay here again if I was working in the same job site.
I chose the candlewood because of its comforts such as the kitchen and roominess of the room. I had hernia surgery that morning. They had the room available early for check-in. Everything is spacious and convenient to get to. Bathroom was roomy and handicap friendly, which I definitely was during my stay. It was so nice and quiet, I extended my stay for two more days. The only criticism I had was due to the fact that I was limited in maneuverability due to my surgery, so I hated having to go get fresh towels, but in all fairness I did not tell the staff. They were very friendly and may have given me special treatment, but I just sucked it up...Always enjoy my stays at just about every Candlewood Ive been to.
Arrived to check in, but was told they sold our room. We arrived three hours after check-in time started. Never had this issue with any other hotels. Id understand if we were trying to check in late at night. Guests beware. Will never give this hotel my business and will be telling friends and family the same.
Our room was clean and comfortable. There’s alittle kitchenette... perfect if you don’t want to eat out every meal. Staff was amazing and friendly! Pool was great. Free washer and dryer was way more than we expected.... amazing!!!! Will definitely be staying here again.
Both my husband and I are night shift workers and asked to be placed in a quiet corner or upper floor for the sake of my sleep during the day. Instead I got put right by the elevator on the second floor. It was very noisy and not able to sleep very well for the 3 days I was there for work. Other than that, it was good, clean, and the service was friendly. They do not give breakfast (take out or buffet) as the other recent reviews said but I didn’t mind as there was plenty of places nearby.
I booked this room for myself and my father during the weekend I was moving into my new place. The room as well cleaned and the staff were amazing to work with. It was nice to find a quality hotel for a great weekend rate especially with it being a busy weekend in the DFW area. Highly recommend this location for any stay.
Spent last weekend at this hotel. The staff were courteous and polite. We enjoyed our stay. Also, when we lost our desired place to have our small family reunion, due to covid, the hotel allowed us to use the events room for dinner. Thank you so much to the staff and everyone at the hotel that made our stay amazing. I highly recommend this hotel.
I stayed here 3 nights. It looked like someone had sneezed or coughed their food up on the wall of the elevator. It was there for 2 days before we saw someone cleaning the lobby near the elevator and brought it to their attention and they finally took care of it.Also we chose this hotel strictly for the indoor pool with hot tub. My kids play in the pool and my wife and I very much need the hot tub after a long day at 6 flags cuz we hurt bad. The hot tub was maybe 5 degrees hotter than the pool and the jets were so weak they barely moved the water. Plus the bottom of the hot tub is stained green from algae build up from not being taken care of at one point or another, but it was not slimey or dirty now, just gave off a nasty feel because of the color. Each room is only stocked with 2 towels which makes no sense for a 2 queen suite. We had 4 people and had to ask for 2 more bath towels. Sadly when we got them back to the room and I had already showered I opened one of the towels to find they gave us bath mats. So I had to dry with a bath mat because they couldnt be bothered to make sure to give us bath towels. Who needs 2 more bath mats???? So my children got the nice comfy big bath towels and got to scratch my skin up with a tiny bath mat. After all of this I still tried to stay another night because I really didnt want to pack up and move to another hotel as I was starting to have heart problems and severe swelling in my legs and feet and barely able to walk. I could not drive the 8.5 hours home. I wanted to use points for another night. Front desk lady told me she couldnt look those up or even see points, all of it is done on the app. I let her know the app showed no reward nights available. So I was just taking a chance on her being able to push it through. If she would have just left it at the app knows what they have and they didnt have any I wouldve been content with that. However, she chose to let me know to call the customer service number and let them know Im currently staying at the hotel and want to use points for another night and they can easily push it through for me. I figured she knew what she was talking about, so I called. I spent 35 minutes on the phone with the rudest people getting a run around that included calling the front desk lady to see if they even had any reward nights available. They came back to rudely inform me that the front desk lady let them know that they dont even do reward nights on weekdays and that if they did it would be 15,000 per night which the customer service said I only had 13,500. The front desk lady wouldnt even look in her computer for me because she swore they couldnt see any of that. But then knew it all once they called. So it was a huge rude run around for absolutely nothing.I ended up paying for another night at the Avid hotel a couple towns over toward my route home and they were absolutely amazing. They even rushed our check in, asked if they could get me ice for my feet or extra pillows. And they even informed us that we had plenty of points to stay another night if we needed to and to just let them know. Candlewood Suites needs to learn a thing or 2 from them.
The day we check in, we noticed that the trash in the kitchen had never been changed and was overflowing. I went down the the front desk to let them know. The employee was on her phone for several minutes before she would even acknowledge me. She then acted put out to have to get up an change our trash. She never once apologized, just acted angry because she had to work. I then had to go back several hours later because the sheets for the sofa sleeper were not in the room. Again, the employee was put out because she had to work. Very disappointed in the service.
Staff that checked us in was very nice and helpful, after the first night everything went bad real fast. Honestly it could have all been completely different had the employee handled her job in a matter of caring. She sat behind the desk on her phone the entire time. We asked for towels because we were never given any for our room, we were told there was no towels. When we asked what we were supposed to do about showering or swimming or anything hygiene related we were told to figure it out. We went to get in the hot tub and the pool area was disgusting, there was a hamper over flowering with dirty towels and dirty towels all over the ground around the pool, the hot tub water was cold and smelled of poop. We went back to front desk to tell her we found all the towels and she said it wasnt her problem. So we decided to cancel the extra night we had just reserved 2 hours prior. We decided to get cleaned up and dry off with our clean clothes, and go to the fitness room. We walk into the fitness room and there are 3 pre teen children jumping and climbing all over the fitness machines. They are screaming and making videos of themselves jumping on the treadmills and the bikes, they are laughing at us so we leave the fitness room and go to desk. She is watching the kids in the fitness room but tell us to come back at a later time. So we go pack our stuff and call another hotel. When we go to leave and cancel our reservation for that night and our future nights she literally answered her cellphone and began talking on a personal call while we are trying to explain our issues and she cuts us off. We were still charged for the nights we did not stay! She did not even care that my daughter is an IHG member. She did not care about anything. Worse hotel stay, worst interaction ever had with a person in customer service and a lot of money wasted! Had to find another hotel at the last minute and pay for 2 hotels basically because my card was still charged. Also the fitness room had clean towels she never thought to offer us but it was too late by the time we seen them
I am always pleased with my stays at any IHG hotel. My stay was very quiet, clean and pleasant. My only issue was during my check-in. The clerk had me swipe my card and then afterwards told me it was for a deposit. I read all of the hotel info prior to my arrival and nothing mentioned a deposit. The deposit was not alot its just the fact I was not made aware. Additionally, I still have not received my deposit back yet
I was very sure how unclean the rooms were (I booked two rooms). One smelled like a wet dog slept in the two beds for the past week. There was a lot of notice or fur on the bed and floor. There was still dog food in a disposable dog food bowl in the corner of the room. The comforter and pillows were down (feathers). Besides my allergies which was the main issue it smelled like a zoo in the room. Then when I took a shower I saw the sign that read they only clean the rooms once per week. I would think you’d still clean it between guests too, right?? Dirty room but not gross as in I didn’t see bugs so 2 stars not 1.
I have always had good experiences staying at the Candlewood Suites, however this particular location is without a doubt my favorite hotel of all time! I always receive a warm welcome, and the staff is extremely friendly and very flexible (appreciate this!) especially Angie who works at the front desk. She even welcomes me by name, and her exceptional customer service deserves a special thanks. The hotel itself is very clean, the beds are super comfortable, and the amenities are far better than anywhere else I have stayed. The suite also has a nice sized kitchen area with a full size refrigerator! Housekeeping is very polite and helpful as well!Even though this is not considered a 5-star hotel, I would give it more than 5 stars if I could! The atmosphere is so pleasant, and employees like Angie really make it feel like home. I have the utmost respect for the general manager who is obviously doing a wonderful job here; a true example of what excellent hospitality truly is! I do not stay anywhere else in the Grand Prairie area, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for lodging in the future. Thank you for your kindness Angie, and for never disappointing and always exceeding my expectations!!
The hotel is right next to a busy highway which is very loud at all hours, beds were uncomfortable, we were only give 3 towels for 4 guests and was told we couldn’t get more until late morning then next day forcing us to share towels, elevator shook and made scary noises forcing my 10 y/o to fear all elevators, pool had a limit of 6 people meaning we could never use the pool, rule was being abused. A reservation system for the pool would be helpful. Stairwell was dirty with trash smell and large carpet stains.
The hotel was very nice and staff were welcoming which sets the stage for a great stay especially after a long day of medical appointments. However while using the bench in the handicap shower it broke off the wall causing my friend to crawl to the bed to get up. Upon looking behind the tile it’s clear that it wasn’t anchored to anything but Sheetrock. Luckily she wasn’t hurt but it stopped further use of the shower.I had planned on using this hotel after surgery but after this I’m afraid it might happen again with more lasting consequences.
Great place to stay, it was like staying in your own mini apartment, I loved everything about it. Check out time is 12. You get your moneys worth. Never experienced something great like this place! Just needed more towels. But other then that it was a great experience!
My brothers and I booked a total of 3 rooms. I had booked the larger suite with a king bed. The first room I was given had 2 queens. I told them it was wrong because it was supposed to be a bigger suite with a king. They had me switch with one brother and said they were all suites - but I later discovered that my suite was assigned to my other brother.
We had booked a stay in a competitors hotel due to cheaper price. We learned you get what you pay for. We called Candlewood Suites and were able to get 2 rooms over New Years Eve. The hotel was clean, accommodating, and didn’t reek of cigarettes and weed. The staff were helpful and polite. We will continue to use Candlewood Suites from now on!!
The hotel is in a convenient location for my needs while in town cnducting business. I did have a few problems with the cleaning staff in regards to consistent quality during my long term stay. There are plenty of food options very close by-and-large chain stores for all your food needs.
The front desk need more training on how to response to unforeseen circumstances.. The toilet in our room was not flushable for 24 hours. No maintance staff to fix any issues you have overnight. The response i receive from front you can use the plunger to fix the problem. I am a paying guest that wasnt my job. I have been waitiing for 5 days on a phone call from management havent received one yet.I am very disappointed!
Clean hotel. Suitable for long stay or overnight. Bed was amazingly comfortable. Nice to have a full kitchen, made warming up holiday leftovers a breeze! Indoor pool and spa was great and not crowded at all! I did hear from the front desk that the internet isn’t always the fastest, so it may not be a great business hotel, but unless you have to work all day, this is a great place to stay! We will be back!
Ive tried to submit this review 6 times now - each time it has been kicked back for legally sensitive content because the room and the property contained many issues. They wont let me list the actual problems, in detail - so you know they were THAT horrendous. So this review leaves out specifics due to whatever they consider legally sensitive content. I will continue to submit this review until its approved because others should be aware of just how bad this property is (or was, if Hotel Management actually made changes)!! The elevator had a horrendous odor inside and was utterly filthy and was in need of maintenance. I had a room facing the next door Firestone repair center, great view of everything Grand Prairie TX has to offer.... So, when Firestone opens and start changing out tires at 0700, youre going to be awake as well from the noise of the air wrenches because there is no soundproofing in the windows. Both of the telephones in the room were inoperative, reported to Front Desk, finally fixed the next day. The garbage disposal unit in the kitchen sink was also inoperative, so never attempted to use that again. I also had no hot water in the shower. The sink had plenty of hot water, the shower had none. Maintenance attempted to fix it and they got it a little hotter but thats all you are going to get out of it. No offer was made by Hotel Staff to switch rooms. Pretty much a we tried to fix it, we cant, so youre stuck with it I f my only choices were this property and a dilapidated, run down hotel, Id stay at the dilapidated hotel.
I enjoyed my stay very much and will continue to use this hotel. My only complaint would be the doors to the stairway slam each time someone uses them and I try to stay in a room at end of the hall so heard the door slam quite a bit. Overall a great stay though and will be back.
Facility overall is very nice. The ladies at the front desk are polite, professional and courteous. This is what they call an extended stay hotel. When they say there is no room service until your 7th day, that means that if you want fresh linen you bring your dirty stuff to the front desk and exchange it. You take out your own trash, request and pick up toiletries yourself. Don’t ask the front desk to leave the desk for any reason because they are typically not staffed to leave to check on anything.
My stay here was good but could have been better due to the hotel furniture being outdated and worn looking. They staff was excellent and they let me charge my car out by the patio. I would recommend the hotel to suite a Tesla or another EV charger for guests with electric vehicles.
From being greeted with a huge smile and welcoming hello, Ms. Pamela recognizes me from previous stays and even special requests Ive ask for and checks me in quickly to the Amazing Angie checking me out and asking how my room and stay was. She also remembers my future stays and requests and Thanks me for staying with them again and she looks forward to my return. As I get out of elevator walking towards my room one of the house cleaning ladies says hi welcome back and says if you need anything let me know, its good to have you back. The hotel, rooms, pool, location and especially the staff are always 1st Class and 10 steps above the rest! This is what keeps me coming back its like home away from home with family. I thank yall so much and highly recommend staying here!!!Ivana G
We had stayed at a couple hotels recently due to no power or water from the winter storm. They were all similarly priced but this one had more to offer like a mini stove, dishes, silverware and much more! If I need a place to stay in the future this will be my first choice!
The front desk lady was very sweet and kind. Her name was Kenisha I believe, she went above and beyond to help me . My daughter got sick while we were there and Kenisha was very helpful. Had a great stay , love the smoking area. Everything was really clean and smelled fresh and clean. I would recommend this place to my friends and family, and I will stay there again.
To start Im a Sapphire Elite IHG member so i have stayed in alot of the IHG locations and by far this was the worst! We got there at 11 pm and they had gave our room away. We had to stay in a handicap room with the ac set at 60 it didnt drop below 80. We asked for another room and they told us if we didnt like the accommodations to find another location. The floors in the room were sweating which made it nasty to walk on it was so hot. We had to sleep with the refrigerator and freezer door open all night to get the room to cool. Never again will I go to that location cause of this.
Room was infested with bed bugs. If one room has them all of them has them. My family has bites all over us from this. Showed one of the bugs to the front desk. They gave us $40 dolls off of one night. We stayed a full week. Talked to the general manager Curt Cleaver and he denied everything even though I produced pictures of the bed bug and bites. Horrible service. Calling the health department to report them. This is very unacceptable and unprofessional on his behalf. It’s safer staying on the street than staying here. I would give negative review but it won’t let me.
The neighbors next to me made noise starting late night and I barely could sleep, so much running and bumping all night, tff the floors are very thin. If you have kids this is the best hotel for you as they make a lot of noises, but as staying for a vacay for a couple, don’t go to this hotel.
The room was very clean. I specifically liked the complimentary guest laundry. The exercise room equipment is up to date. The only negative was hearing my neighbors tv blasted every night of my stay. Im assuming this person is hard of hearing or was inconsiderate of their neighbors. Other than the loud neighbor, front desk was friendly and the room was very clean.
NO STARS! We had a long drive in so we got there late around 10:45pm. They gave our room away apparently because we were stuck in a handicap room. A/C in the room didnt work at all. I complained and they wouldnt move us . Desk clerk told me we could go find another location is qe wanted at 11pm at night! We ended up sleeping with the refrigerator and freezer doors open to cool the room. Never again.
Spent nite in room that a/c didnt work in, mgmt thought they fixed the problem the next day and within minutes of them leaving the room it felt like the heater was on....so they gave us another room after we complained. Next rooms a/c worked, but was so LOUD we couldnt hear each other talk! Horrible experience. Not to mention that at check in I had the exact amount needed. I made the reservation a month ahead of time and asked about EVERYTHING so there wouldnt be surprises. I get charged 75$ pet fee for my 10 lb dog. Im not a happy camper.....will not be back
Absolutely NO daily housekeeping,.which is so disgusting. we have 3 kids,.2 are in diapers and when we called the front desk all.they did was bring us a trash bag, WE had to gather our own trash and if we wanted clean towels we had to call.the front desk and they would take awhile to bring us the clean towels, our room was never cleaned in the 5 days we stayed there. Our never made.up,.our sheets never changed. My family and I will NEVER stay at a Candlewood Suites again
Everything was great but room was a little smaller than I thought it would be based on website photos. I thought the kitchen area would have an oven and at least a small table to eat at. One of the employees was kind enough to get me a chair out of conference room to use at the desk. It worked fine.
We were surprised at how clean everything was since the reviews some said it wasnt. I am glad I took a chance. The only thing that I could find wrong was you could not point the direction of the air coming from the air conditioner and it blew right on me and was cold. But everything else was great I even got excited about the free micro popcorn that they give you in your room. Good Job!!!!
We had tickets to the Dallas Cowboys game and found this hotel to be conveniently located to the the stadium. We were especially grateful for choosing this hotel with the Firestone located directly behind the hotel as our battery was dead the next morning. They helped us start our car in no time. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay here.
Worst hotel experience ever. And this is coming from an IHG Spire member that stays in hotels 4 nights a week. Got woke up all night with the room above me making such a commotion it was shaking the light fixtures. Desk clerk didnt have any more rooms and couldnt seem to get them to shut up . Save your money and go somewhere else.
Parking is very limited and restricted all in all over all stay was very appreciative and the staff is very courteous and friendly also front desk needs to keep batteries for the smoke alarm in case it goes off as in the case when I was there but the front desk was courteous enough to give me another room
Standard room upon booking is not indicated as a 2 bedroom. The elevator moves way to slow to move across 4 floors. The air conditioning unit I was to loud and blows way to hard it needs to have a low / med / high setting. The order out dine in menu in the laminated card inside the room should be removed as the front desk said they don’t have it.
I was not greeted as an IHG member and it seem like the front counter gal didnt even bother to try. I was especially disappointed with my room once I saw the air conditioning system was taken apart and laying on the floor. You would think that they would of known not to give it to a quest. But after I mention it they should of just moved me to a new room.
This Motel is very overpriced its aged it was not what we paid for the bathtub water faucet was very hard to turn on we told them that before people staying we only reset towels of three could not find anybody to get 1/4 bath towel there was a picture missing from one of the picture frames hanging on the wall
To start off I cane from Arkansas with children for my daughter birthday, it was a 5 hour drive we got there around 7 for check in they tried to charge my card before I arrived when on the website it says pay at the front desk so I called and was informed that rooms were filling up long story short they sold my room after I told them I was on the way so I skep in a king bed with 5 kids next day we change rooms the air goes out so we changed rooms again because of air our last room was nice but the stay was very unpleasant will Not be returning rooms were clean and I was given a discount still won’t be returning

2022-01-02My husband and I recently stayed 2 nights here for the Cotton Bowl and enjoyed the hotel. Staff was friendly and did well managing the influx of football fans (on NYE). The room was clean but 1 of our towels was definitely stained with makeup (but clearly came from the cleaner). Our only complaints were really beyond the hotels control: 1. The road noise is substantial and 2. Our room window faced Firestone so at 7 in the morning their obnoxiously loud phone starts ringing. Again, not the hotels fault but still a pain. Wed definitely stay again, but try to request a room on the other side.

2022-05-06The staff are great, very friendly and super helpful. I was in town to help a family member move but needed to work for a few hours a day. I needed to work early in the morning so I asked the front desk if there was any place I could work for a few hours each morning of my stay. They offered me the Meeting room without hesitation. This worked out great and I couldnt have been happier.

2022-05-28I can’t even say my stay was poor because the hotel cancelled my reservation before I even got there. Someone called me at 12:30 pm and said the card I had on file declined because they tried to charge it before I even got there. The person that called me said that that’s how they run things there. Unfortunately, I just hadn’t made it to the bank to deposit the funds in my account because I wasn’t planning on checking in until after 3. It was nowhere near check in time. I have worked hotel front desk for 20 years and have never seen a hotel run their business this way. Very poor process. Now, I have to figure out where myself and my three children are going to stay on one of the busiest nights of the week. Also, my reservation was NOT a third party or prepaid so there is NO reason to charge my credit card at 12 noon and then cancel it just because I haven’t made it the bank yet. If I could give zero stars, I would. How do you have an issue before the guest even arrives… RED FLAG!!!!!

2022-06-04Very clean. Modern. Excellent customer service. Especially Ash. He is very professional, accommodating, and always with a smile. I left my charger when I checked out 4 days ago. I called today. And he call me back within 15 minutes to tell me housekeeping found it and it will be waiting for me at the front desk. Awesome

2022-06-16There were cockroaches including 1 that climbed up my dad and it was overall an awful experience — we had to clean everything (including the silver wear/plates & bowls) just in case, not worth the risk. We thought it was worth saving a little money (like 50bucks to go here) but I would never come again. Also the pots/pans/utensils were never consistent, we rented 2 rooms for the extra beds and 1 room was missing the spatula and the frying pan which almost cost me my breakfast (since we had to leave fast so I was trying to make a couple eggs), luckily we found these in the other room but the inconsistency is rough in case I only had the room without those utensilsTLDR — cockroaches/lack of consistent cooking utensils/constant fear of things being unsanitary due to my observations 1/10 experience

2022-05-10I enjoyed my stay at Candlewood Suites. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was very courteous. They granted me a late checkout which helped me immensely. I will definitely stay there again when Im in the area.

2022-06-06A little run down. Unlike the Staybridge a mile up the road. Theres a musky odor, maybe someone cooked curry too often. Wish I could say better things but my experience doesnt let me say otherwise. Its conveniently located on I-20 corridor, next to Texas Roadhouse. Its priced like higher rated hotels.

2022-04-29My husband & I are currently staying here. The staff are SO friendly and they for sure keep the place clean. It is a very nice hotel.. I would recommend two things tho.. People are good @ using the washer & dryer and just leaving their clothes there. Maybe yall can put up a sign.. The other thing when people are gonna be here for a long time, maybe give a few extra items so we dont have to bug the front desk. My husband & I are here for a month & half.. The maids come once every 7 days, but leave things for only afew days... But other then that, its a great place to stay..

2022-05-19The Suite doesnt offer much more than normal rooms. However overall it was very clean and would be suitable for a short stay. But if youre looking for comfort for an extended stay like myself (2 weeks) you may find that you could be disappointed.
