Joined the waiting list for a table for two, and the front host told me it’d be about a 30-40 min. wait… I recieved a call from then 20 min later, tried to call back to let them know I’d be there in 3 min., they answered but pretended they didn’t hear me. The lady at the front kept saying hello until she hung up on me. We went back to the restaurant and had to wait an additional 20 min. I later found out they blocked my number on their end after she hung up on me.Great restaurant, first time coming to this location though. I usually go to the smaller one in McKinney Ave. Never had a petty experience like today. Hopefully whoever is at the front receiving guest can respect the waitlist next time.
If you’re not a Becky, Karen, Jessica, Lindsey, Brad, Preston, Hunter, Cooper don’t bother. There’s no place for the Tyrone’s, J’maar, Tredeveous, Lamar, Sanevia, Shanikwa, Shuntae’s of this world. Had to ask to be served. Won’t be back. Food isn’t great either. There are better options.
Really solid Tex-Mex from Mico Rodriguez. The food is just as good as the original, but the atmosphere is a step up, in my opinion. Great bar and expansive covered patio. The guacamole, crema enchilada, and relleno were all excellent. Service is attentive and the drinks are on point.
The facilities are first class... The food is super good and the portions are generous... Excellent chips and salsa (several options in salsa, the green one is outstanding)The drinks are amazing!!The service was spectacular, Roberto guided us step by step and all his recommendations were excellent (from the guacamole, cheese, ceviche, enchiladas to the drinks, the flag, the Benítez, the wine he suggested to start with)We will be back as soon as possible and definitely Roberto will be our waiter.... 😬😬😬
Guacamole, enchiladas, mole, ceviche, everything is delicious, authentic Mexican flavor. The drinks are great, especially El Benitez. The patio is amazing. The best thing about the place is the service and attention of ROBERTO, a waiter who makes you feel at home, loved, pampered. Simply the best waiter to serve me in years.

2022-08-09Love this new addition to Doce Mesas group! We typically go to the location on McKinney and Knox, but decided to take a chance and go to Walnut Hill.We were greeted and warmly welcomed. Areas felt so fresh and well lit but a nice evening vibe with a nice large bar/island. We came for lunch but came wait to come back in the evening. The inside area is spacious but cant wait to try out the outside sitting area.Food and drinks were delicious and consistent with what we get at the other location, which is amazing. The presentation is different but just a great.Highly recommend trying out this new location for lunch or dinner!

2022-08-10Amazing food at Doce Mesas. It was only a 10 minute wait to get a table on a Friday night. The chips and salsa were tasty and plentiful. The margarita was also good - the regular tequila had a heavy vanilla undertone for those who care about that. My favorite part was the chicken - it was cooked just right and the vegetables/rice sides were filling without going over the top. Overall I had a great time.

2022-08-18Tried this place for the first time and loved it. I wasn’t surprised when our waiter told me they’re in the same family as Mesero. The staff was welcoming and accommodating, the vibe was on point and the food was delicious. Be sure to try the honeydew salsa. It’s literally one of the best things I’ve ever tasted.

2022-08-16First time at Doce Mesas and loved it! We went on a Monday after climbing next door so around 9 pm. There was like a minute wait for them to clear the tables. The ambiance was modern and classy. We were served chips and lots of different types of salsa, which I very much enjoyed. I just got the Sopa Azteca (tomato and chicken) and it was SO GOOD even for the price. My friends got a taco plate and Carne Tampiquenia, which were also very delicious and large portions. Enjoyed our late night dinner and will be back! Climbers from Mvmt: don’t worry about the dress code haha

2022-09-09Went a weekday night and it is such a sleek and nice place with futuristic and comfy chairs to fun art akin to Basquiats Red Kings .Our server was FANTASTIC, took care of us and asked us for our input on the different salsas. They have a special one I got to sample with a sweet kick to it and it is a unique flavor I have not had before. The other ones are fairly mild so its not spicy at all.I got the #4 special with a brisket taco and green enchilada with chicken. Food looks pretty!Slaw was great to me. Beans and rice were just skippable.Brisket Taco ( one of my favorite type of foods) was quite dry, and needed a spice kick to it somehow.Green enchilada was just fair.I got to try my friends blano enchilada and that was very nice, soft and cheesy. I can see myself getting this next time if I were to eat here again.

2022-09-17First time here and I loved it! Came for lunch with a good friend. We are both originally from Mexico City and we truly appreciated the authenticity of the flavors. We ordered the chicken enchiladas with mole. Amazing!!! They make the tortillas at Doce Mesas which makes a huge difference, also, they actually give you a lot of chicken and the mole sauce was delicious and authentic as it gets. The decor was tasteful and the music wasn’t too loud were you couldn’t even have a conversation.Very good service! Our server Alicia was incredible! Very helpful, friendly yet professional! Definitely going back! Highly recommended 😋❤️🙌🏻

2022-09-05Timer for the first time on a Monday afternoon on Labor Day around 4 PM. Parker in the lot - no valet. Place was pretty empty, but it was late afternoon. No happy hour offered.Chips are made in-house & very crunchy; on the thicker side. Salsa has good flavor - more blended texture instead of chunky. I’m not a fan of mole, so I can’t comment on that.El Benito - Fruity, fresh, & sweet. Not bubbly. Kind of like a raspberry grapefruit lemonade. Strong - I got a buzz after 1/3 drink (on an empty stomach).La Carolina - Pretty Good. My husband is very particular on margaritas & he said this one is pretty good. Strong.Doce Queso - Very creamy & good flavor. Pairs well with the chips. Spinach is chopped adequately & not too big. Evident artichoke pieces. Stayed relatively fluid even at the end of the meal.Gulf shrimp tacos - Large tortillas. Shrimp is charred & Smokey. A touch overcooked. White rice is nice & fluffy. Coleslaw - not mayonnaise based; light. More veggie taste.Norteñas - I completely forgot to ask for flour tortillas since I typically don’t like corn tortillas, but the corn tortillas were surprisingly ok. Corn tortillas have a surprising amount of spring to it - not mushy like most corn tortillas after they get wet. Spanish rice - Full flavor. Savory & very flavorful. Probably a lot of butter & fat, but delicious. Chili con carne - Reminds me more of regular Texas chili - more beans than meat. Refried beans - average.Overall, this place was pretty good. Service was good - our waitress was very nice & respectful. All the food had good flavor. Price is reasonable - one appetizer, two alcoholic drinks, & two entrees came out to be ~$75. I’d recommend & I’d come back. 👍🏼👍🏼

2022-08-27We visited for the first time last night and really enjoyed our meal and experience. Nice atmosphere, not too loud, good service and delicious food and cocktails. The only thing I wasnt crazy about was the black beans. They were a little bland. Otherwise, the verde enchiladas, brisket tacos and green rice were all good!
