Positive: We loved the center area and bar, food was great! Staff was Very friendly. The room was beyond our expectations. We are already planning our next trip. Negative: Elevators were a little clogged on checkout, but what hotel isnt clogged at Sunday checkout. Once we got down it took less than a minute to check out.
This is a great hotel center near shopping district in Mcallen with a lot of good restaurants around it but you would want to go anywhere if you stay here. This gorgeous hotel has big rooms, wonderful staff, a pool and hot tub, a bar, a restaurant, a gym, and everyone gets amazing fresh baked cookies
Not what i expected. Rooms were kind of old.and service was not that great from front counter. I always stay at Hiltons but this one i will not be back too. I just came from one in Phoenix downtown which was just too awesome for words to this one which is like nite and day.
Positive: My children loved the pool Negative: The staff that checked me in didn¿t seem happy to be there. The room was not clean well there was stains on the walls and even one looked like dried blood and there was a hair in the sink . There was a lot of scale on the shower head.
Its an okay hotel. The first room they gave us didnt have good running water and window couldnt fully close so you heard the street. They quickly moved us and gave us a new room which was better. Bathroom and shower is pretty small and the shower roof vent was rusty. Good for a 1 night stay but I will not be staying at this hotel anymore. Staff was incredible, only problem is the hotels maintenance.
My family and I reserved this location for Thanksgiving weekend. Due to weather my husband was delayed and we could not make it our first night. I spoke to the manager, and she kindly said she understood. The issue at that point was that we are honor members and used points... the points we used did not cover the whole reservation. Due to this issue, she could not adjust it on her end. I have to call the honors phone number, and they assisted, but we had to do some funky stuff in order to get it taken care of for us to switch our dates. I did not like the solution but it sort of worked out for us.We arrived to the hotel, it is so cold out, and we requested a crib, a crib was not there, we called for it, took about an hr and my husband had to go get it. Our room was at 64, and mind you, we have a baby, 6 months at the time. Cant use blankets.... so we bundled him as much as we could safely. The next day we brought it up to them that our heater was not working, they said they would look into it. We arrived late, and ready for our baby to go to bed, and the heater was still not working. We did not make a scene, we let it be. our room once again was 64. very cold for a baby....The next day checking out i confirmed with the front desk about the charges, to make sure we would only charged for one of the reservations, like i had agreed with the manager, she reassured me, and i made sure to tell her that our heater still did not work, and that it was not a pleasant stay at ALL. she smiled, and was a little dismissive.I called later to get a refund because, sure enough we got charged for both reservations, and she was only able to refund me partially.Using their honor points is not luxury, or benefit, We paid much more than we wanted to, and the customer service was lacking quality. Thanks but no thanks for this place again. Even if its free.
Anyone that stays at this Hilton property will not be disappointed! Very friendly staff and very accommodating to your needs. Also their snack shop is by far the best one Ive seen, due to them having so many options. I love that for when I just want to snack on something in the evening. Rooms are also very clean and I love the design they have for their rooms! All in all, it was an absolute pleasure staying at this Hilton Property! GOOD JOB GUYS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Great stay again at The Doubletree, McAllen. This is our go to hotel when traveling to the valley. Went with the high school golf team for a two day tournament. Marcos and Scarlett at the front desk were extremely helpful upon check in and throughout our stay. Thanks! We will be back.
Great staff! Ms. Andrea assisted me and all my soldiers. Breakfast was ready on time and I was always greeted by Mr. Ruben who always provided 5 star service. This is a great place and felt like home away from home. The cleanliness of the rooms are 5 stars. The beds are amazingly comfortable. My first night I actually over slept and started setting my alarm clock to help get up. Out of 35 people staying with me I had no complaints to report. Overall my entire experience was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars.
This is my second stay at this facility. For obvious reason, I booked it again. The dinner served is excellent so is the breakfast. The rooms are great with detailed cleanliness. It took a few minutes to get hot water in shower but it is not a big deal considering size of the hotel. Would stay again as the need would arise.
This hotel has excellent customer service. They are up-to-date with everything including making sure during your stay that everything is working the way that it is supposed to. The cookies are moist and perfect compared to some of the other double trees. I did have a small issue however it was handled by Crystal and she was good with making sure that I was taking care of. If you want an outstanding experience from the beginning to the end I highly recommend this hotel. And it is also very nice as well
I stayed at this hotel for one night. I was unpleasantly surprised when I noticed that the shower did not work. It is a huge inconvenience when you need to get a shower and discover that it doesnt work at all. I immediately called the front desk and they said they were going to send someone. After a while, waiting, I started to think they wouldnt come so I had to get all dressed, get all of my belongings, and frustrated I went to the front desk to ask why they hadnt showed up. I needed the shower with urgency at that point. At that point they decided to just move me to a different room. Overall it was a huge inconvenience, and it surprised me that no one would check that everything in a room works before considering it ready for a guest to stay.
This place is a little old. There are no Ethernet ports in the rooms-at least my room. The breakfasts are great here! The staff is wonderful. Theres only one washer and dryer. You can hear everything everywhere in this place. When it rains outside, it rains inside too. The elevators are slow. 4 stars because inside rain. Will for sure come again!
Very nice hotel. Nice pool nice and big. Rooms are kinda well maintained . Would’ve given it 5 stars but my ac was leaking a lot in my first room had some mold/fungus because of that water…. & second room our refrigerator wasn’t working and I didn’t notice so my birthday cake melted. Other than that it was a pleasant experience
Had a very bad experience. Good thing we only booked one night. First of all, I am not sure why they call themselves a 4 star hotel. This is not what you expect from a 4 star hotel. This hotel is so outdated. The rooms look old. The wallpaper is peeling, the bathrooms are tiny and there are stains on the walls. Also, the customer service is not accommodating. The ladies in the front desk, including the manager seem to not care, they are not helpful, and make you feel unwelcome. Look some place else. You are better off looking for a 3 star hotel in the area. I have stayed in 3 star hotels that are much better than this so called “4 star”.
Amazing hotel! The lobby is absolutely beautiful, rooms were great, hot tub was super warm, and the welcome cookies were delicious. I wanted Starbucks one morning and didnt see that their closed sign was still up but the lady at the front desk got someone to come make me coffee anyway. The only complaint I have if you can call it a complaint is that the bar closes at 10:00 p.m. My boyfriend wanted a drink after work but he doesnt get off until after midnight. Other than that, no complaints about our stay at all!
I have stayed at this DoubleTree several times before. I am always pleased with the staff and the accommodations at this hotel. I enjoyed my stay and plan to stay at this hotel every chance I get. The hotel is located in a location that allows easy access to many restaurants. I would recommend this hotel to others who are planning on traveling to or through McAllen, Tx.
Stayed two nights and the first night was terrible. They had us right next to the service elevator (room 109) and we could hear very loud sounds all night and could barely sleep. They said they had no rooms to move us to. For 159 a night I was super upset. I wanted to sleep in as it was a mini honey moon away from our kids for my new husband and i so I told them it was fine, dont move us but I would be leaving a review. Like a miracle, they called back 5 minutes later and we had a handicapp accessible room which was very appreciated since Im disabled and have bad vertigo. The second night and rest of the stay was wonderful. Indoor pool and hottub were amazing. Friendly staff. Way better than the first night.
We’ve been staying at hotels in McAllen area approximately 15-20 night a year since 2016 (10-15 trips a year) for family visiting. I do not recommend this hotel.First of all, you should not expect DoubleTree name, quality, professional staff/ office front desk at this branch.Warning: this hotel front desk absolutely not polite, you must get ready for it. Absolutely rude and “bossy” !Rooms haven’t been updated probably long time also.Yes, the location is not bad. It is in close to central, mall and freeways but McAllen is a small town. It’s not really make sense there is no breakfast after paying almost 200 for a night. Expecting at least some coffee as a guest.
High price point for unimpressive room. Paid $143 for one night and was expecting at least a decent bed. The beds were small with dated frames. Rotted furniture, ac does not cool well, and when asked if I could just leave and get my money back because it was not up to my standard, I was told no. Don’t book here! Stay at a newer hotel because this one is lacking majorly!
Below average. The rooms don’t have closets or cooking facilities. The glass walls on the front of the rooms along the hallways transfer a lot of sound, so the screaming kids are a nice touch. There’s also only one washer and dryer for the entire hotel, which has always been in use when I needed to do laundry. The breakfast sausages left sitting in water were a fun surprise; the rest of the food was equally mediocre. The hotel needs a full renovation and modernization, and a deep cleaning; my room smelled sour, there was mold on the bathroom ceiling, and the vents and night lock were damaged. It wouldn’t take any real effort or expense to improve the minor issues, but this feels like a place that hasn’t changed much since 1990.
This hotel had its hayday back in the day but not not anymore. The carpeting and furniture is outdated. My room smelled sour. There was a coffee maker, microwave and a fridge, but not much of anything else. Nothing for the sink thats above the microwave and fridge, like paper towels or soap. The bathroom was small. The suite was big but like mentioned, the furniture is outdated and old.
We have stayed there a few times and the facilities themselves are decent. However, our last visit was very unpleasant due to management being rude and confrontational. We called a few days in advance to reserve for a family funeral. I specifically told whom I spoke to that we would be arriving in town by 3pm for a funeral. We got there in time but our room was not ready yet which frustrated my already distraught spouse. When he asked to speak to management for sooner accommodations, a lady walked out from the back saying she was manager and that she took the reservation and was never told we were arriving for funeral services and that she was an honest woman which implied I wasn’t. Essentially calling me a liar in front of desk staff and my husband which infuriated both of us. She clearly saw our reaction and then back peddled by offering us a free upgrade to suite. The rest of stay was ok and staff was very nice but we were left with a really bad impression from the lack of professionalism on the managers part. Needless to say we will not be staying there again.
My 1st experience at the doubletree hotel could be my last. I arrived in the restaurant was closed in the middle of the day. That was not good for me because I had an eaten since the prior day. The front desk person was kind and friendly. She helped me check in early and did her best to find a room right away. The trouble began that night when I went to complete a labor job that unfortunately was extended through the night into the morning hours. I had paid almost $200 for the room yet did not have the opportunity or the chance to stay in it. I had called in the middle of the night and spoke with a night manager who directed me to call in the morning. When I called in the morning and explained what happened they refused to give me even a credit to stay another night or to stay at another Hilton property lest a refund. I was very upset. Then I found out that they checked me out at 8:00 a.m. from my room even though the official checkout time was noon. The managers showed no expertise in customer service, perspective, or empathy. I ended up staying another night out of sheer exhaustion from the job. That night I ordered room service and the food was good. Unfortunately I was overcharged by almost double on my final bill. Now I understood why the hotel was named DOUBLE Tree. The experience really did cost me double. The next day I left very disappointed with the experience and $400 poorer. Lesson learned. I will never pay so much for a sub par experience ever again. I did not stay at my usual go to which is the Home 2 suites by Hilton because they were completely booked. Next time I will book ahead with home too or or La Quinta.
The lobby and common areas of this hotel were really nice, the room also was cleaned well except for the sofa bed where there were crumbs under the cushions. The reason why I gave this hotel two stars is because the rooms are in a bad need of a remodel and it was obvious that no attention to detail was given in the rooms. The fire alarm was falling off the wall, the telephone was missing buttons, the light switches were not level, the dresser drawers didnt close all the way and the paint was chipping off the walls. The intake for the ac is in the bathroom for some reason, also took a long time for the room to cool and the ceiling height was really low in the bathroom, if youre over 6ft you will have to duck to wet your hair in the shower. Its also a very narrow shower so much so that your shoulders are almost touching the wall and door just by standing there. The tv shorted out, I had to unplug and replug it in to get it to turn back on. The light fixtures were also crooked and the extra plugs on them didnt always work. The staff was friendly and helpful and as I mentioned earlier the room did feel clean however if your a tall person or are just slightly ocd like me this not a great place to stay
Great Hotel service, all employees are very respectful and hard working. They will facilitate any needs to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Front desk even offers warm cookies and water. Breakfast in the morning has a huge variety and serves till 10am. Rooms are comfy, spacious, and clean. I would visit again.
I never write reviews, but i owe this one to an employee. Scarlett at the front desk is a life saver, my infant needed milk 2am, they were all out, but she went out of her way to find it. She left her post to help me, i been coming here for over 20 years, and have never had a single problem, all good memories from my childhood Embassy suites now Double Tree... Scarlett added to ever positive experiences for my family... she deserves the Loyalty Award, Thanks!
Very nice open layout. Breakfast was good. Rooms were clean need to nice. Complimentary Waters from the front desk and cookies. Very friendly staff and quick to resolve any problems that may come up. Only downside is we needed to wash some clothes and theres not a washer and dryer on premises so we had to go to a nearby laundromat. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting in the area.
Stayed here for a week long conference and the hotel did an incredible job. Everything went very smoothly for the room, the event space, and catering. The staff and management made it clear they took their jobs seriously as it was obvious in the results they produced. Definitely will consider them for the future.
Decided to stay in Valley after a football game since we had planned to go down shopping the next day. Wanted a hotel with suites since there are 5 of us. After looking around we decided to book at DoubleTree. Had everything we were looking for. Separate living room, breakfast, and it was located near places we wanted to go.Hotel was amazing. Beds were comfy. Living room was set up nicely. After a night of Friday Night Lights, we picked up some fast food and all just relaxed as family in living room and wound down. The breakfast was fantastic! Had everything except waffles. Was told only serve during week. So pancakes it was! They have a heated indoor pool, but this stay it was closed for servicing.Because hotel was so reasonably priced, we are planning a return trip just to get away and relax.
Pretty awesome hotel, rooms are nice and big, and the breakfast is good (if you have it included in your rate) service is generally good all around, but Im giving 3 stars due to the thin glass on the sliding door in room. You hear every car, siren, voice etc etc Ive been woken up every single night/morning because of this. Im on the 3rd floor, so maybe a higher room would help but I doubt it. Its almost like there is no glass at all.
We stayed in room 621 being a diamond member you think they will upgrade you to a bigger room our room smelt like rotten eggs every once in awhile and the ac barely even worked they need to upgrade their rooms. Food not to bad we did complain about the smell and ac they said they were fixing the sewer/bathroom on the floor above us.
My boss paid for my lodgings. $220 a night with taxes (15% or more rate). No daily room attention from staff. Guess it is the covid. So I had to get coffee from the front desk. Breakfast come with room at $10.51. Four choices for breakfast. The cooks dont know how to fry an egg. My boss paid for everything. There is a lot of ambient noise from the street.
I have travelled a lot. Never have I been treated better than the service we received at The Canyon Suites at The Phoenician. The room was beautiful. The location fantastic. The available food options were wonderful. Hiking, 3 golf courses, pools and best of all, the impeccably polite and helpful staff.
Excellent staff. I did not experience any issues during my stay. They also have a Starbuck kiosk, full restaurant, and full bar. The bar closes at midnight. Oh and delicious cookies 24 hours a day and a courtesy shuttle until midnight as well. If youre staying for more then 24 hours make sure you touch the ac controls they are set to turn off if the temperature control is not touched in 24hours.
I really liked the place it was beautifully decorated for Christmas, the new fountain and the couches with the metal bead curtains give a modern and elegant look to the place. The room I stayed was spacious, the bed and pillows very soft, the bathroom was clean and fancy. But the best was the staff, they were very helpful and nice, the warm chocolate chip cookies they gave us were delicious.
The lounge had terrible service and the cocktails were atrocious. I waited over 20 minutes to get someones attention so i could order a drink, then it took another 15 to get it and another 20 to try and pay. This was all for one drink I literally only took 2 sips out of. The lounge was not full and there seemed to be enough staff on hand to deal with the guests, but every single person there was rude and devoid of customer service skills. I have worked in the food service industry and in lounges and was always taught you have 90 seconds to greet someone, even if its not your table. Overall, the lounge had a great vibe and the solo guitar act was really good. If it werent for him, I would have left the lounge much sooner and never ordered. The wait staff for our conference was wonderful. Very attentive and kind, excellent.
Excellence Service with a little outdated room.I stayed for 10 days and the service was excellence. The hotel does not provide (maybe it is common for all US hotel) slipper and I had requested at the front desk. The front desk manager (if I remember correctly is Daniel) help me request the house keeping department and the same night, I was provided with a pair of slipper from supermarket. I really appreciate his excellence service. The suites is huge and clean but a little outdated. An egg station will be able to get another star from me but the breakfast was great.
I stayed at the McAllen DoubleTree for a few nights visiting for business purposes. The property is dated, but tastefully refreshed and well maintained. The rooms are large and some have balconies. The bed was pretty decent, but not the best Ive slept on. Breakfast was good with standard options as well as Mexican fare. One of the elevators stopped working while I was there - hopefully it is fixed soon. Overall Im satisfied with my stay. I may try a different property when Im next in the area, but only because there are so many options.
I never complain about hotels or restaurants, but I was really disappointed with this hotel and it wasnt worth what I paid. I will not stay at this hotel again. In our first room, the bathroom was dirty and disgusting. The TV didnt work in the master bedroom. Then they changed us to another room and the AC made a really annoying noise. The next day we ordered fresh towels and after waiting an hour and making 3 calls to remind the front desk we received our fresh towels.
Needs some updating. Rooms were good but always heard pips banging. Used the Hot tub and was only luke warm. Would suggest they update their motel would make it much better. Inform your guest of the specials in the bar and for Breakfast. Did not know you could get a omlet with the buffet in the morning.
Amazing Hotel! Previously embassy suites and now fully renovated into a doubletree. Got warm cookies and water on arrival...digital key was def a plus and so convenient. Rooms are very spacious and amenities are great and in abundance . Downstairs have a Starbucks and live music in the evenings and a great lively atmosphere. I am truly enjoying my time here and would def return for both business & pleasure. Highly recommend this place for business travelers in particular
We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times. The rooms are always clean and ready on time. Staff is friendly. Only problem is when there is something going on in the hotel restaurant or bar, it can be a little loud in the living area of the suite. The suite style really works with our family. We found out they had to bedroom suites at a great price, which is perfect for us. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.
Great location just 3 minutes off the airport. Close to several chain restaurants and one fabulous local mexican. Just 3 minutes from the mall as well. Rooms are recently updated, but wont knock you back for quality. Bar and dinner are good, with open atrium interior. Great choice for the casual stay or like myself, repeat business travel
We really enjoyed our stay at Doubletree. Hotel staff was pleasant and location seemed central to the city. Amenities/decor were nice and worthy of its 3 star hotel rating. Im knocking off one star due to the slow elevators and since our room was next to a housekeeping storage room and we heard a lot of racket at times. Breakfast was good too.
I loved everything about the hotel minus the fact that my family and I got the stomach virus. We also had visitors who fell sick with the same thing after leaving the room. As sick as I was, I went downstairs at 4am asking for housekeeping or cleaning supplies at the least. I have small children who vomited so I wanted to disinfect. The lady at the front desk told me it was impossible to get the stomach virus because of the room. (Right!) She said it must have been something we ate... ok fine but we ate there.. (Food and servers were great by the way) She put my room # down for housekeeping to come at 6am. No one came. Another place would have swapped our room instead of having me go back to the room we couldnt get cleaned.
Reception, sales, manager, restaurant people.... Everybody is super helpful. Buffett breakfast is great. Bed sheets and mattress too.I have nothing bad to tell about it. Just that sometimes close to main entrance parking is packed but theres plenty of parking in a multilevel parking.I love their freshly baked chocolate and nuts cookies the front desk people give to customers! They are available 24/7 😃
Room was nice. Very dissatisfied with the staff. Children playing on the elevator. Also digging change out of the fountain. Staff was rude. We paid a lot of money to stay here and we expected more. Also people were fully clothed in the pool thats disgusting. No one told them to get out. Very unprofessional
The entrance and lobby are the high light of this hotel. The service was sub par and concerns not addressed, even something simple as the remote control not working. Front desk did not have batteries, nor a screw driver to open the remote that was screwed shut. Other small incidentals that staff was unable to address while leaving clients feeling like nothing more than a reeipt is far beneath the standards most Hiltons offer. However the gym hours and pool are very accommodating.
This place is way over rated for its price. The rooms are very old. And furniture as well. And breakfast beleiev it your paying for it too. For the price that I paid I expected a hot breakfast for all my guest. Wrong! Still payed for my guest to eat with me. The next morning. Shade? Most definitely.... But like I said Id rather have gone and stayed at embassy. Cheaper better furniture. Better price. Folks your paying for the great set up in lobby. But Id like both best price and best living. Wich is not this place. OvrrrAted!
Very CLEAN!!! Kudos to the housekeeping staff. My room, along with the common areas, were clean and very well attended to. This is an older hotel and apparently was built originally as an Embassy Suites. Only complaint-- one of the elevators was temporarily out of service adding to hassle of waiting for already slow elevators.
Checked into the room on Thursday and went out to eat with others on our business trip. Returned to the room that evening and found a rather large roach in the corner. I promptly disposed of it and went to the front desk to request a different room. The original room was on the 2nd floor, they relocated me to the 8th floor and I immediately checked again for roaches but saw no sign luckily. They lowered my rate and was very apologetic about the whole ordeal. Great staff at the front desk (bar, not so much), just beware of unwanted insect issues.
We checked in at 3:00 am on a Saturday. The front desk rep was rude, she just handed us our room keys and told us we were in the 9th floor, no cookies :(, no directions to the elevator/fitness center/pool, no breakfast times. There was room service tray outside our neighbors room that remained there for the duration of our stay. The suite Itself was fairly big with the exception of the restroom. Shower was extremely small, maybe 3 feet wide (if that). This is definitely goes down as the least liked DoubleTree properties Ive stayed at.
Location was great right by the highway, very convenient, easy to find as well. The rooms and hotel was very clean and nice. Room was big and nice, restrooms where super clean and nice. Ate at the restaurant and everything was good, food and service was great. Prices for the restaurant were reasonable. The only thing I would change would be the toliet paper placement, it was kind of hard to find, and had too overreach to get it. But great hotel overall.
Hotel has really gone down. Room had food left in the microwave and one drawer. Another drawer had garbage in it. Pool area needs maintenance. The maintenance aspect might just be me since I am a maintenance technician (no hotel maintenance experience) but saw things that I would address as the maintenance manager.
Bad service, we stayed there because they had a restaurant and a Starbucks (that they said would be open) that was closed. Kids were upset. We had to pay extra for a bigger room because our room was no longer available. Tv in the room didn’t work, cabinet door were falling of the hinges, red stains everywhere on the floor.
Little disappointed here. Room was not completely clean. I found debris from the previous guest on the floor. Also water pressure in the shower was not great. I reported these issues and got another cleaning. Still not what Id expect from a Hilton hotel as a diamond member with Hilton honors.
Used to be Embassy Suites. Now its a shadow of its former self. Same family of hotels but definitely different aspect. My room had some kids slime in a drawer, the door that separates the living room & bedroom got stuck. Bathrooms are elegant though. Overall, a good stay. The pool area didnt have towels available. Thats why I gave it 3 stars
Amazing customer service, clean rooms with comfortable beds, the rooms are spacious and have mini fridges and microwaves- a must have for those that are staying out of town. The location is easy to find and was close to where our events were. Close to shopping centers and HEB.
Started off kind of bad but they made up for it right away. Initial room we were given was a disaster (smell, walls falling apart, roach), called front desk and they immediately apologized and got us into a great suite. Night and day. Dont know whats up with the first room but please dont give anybody else that room till its remodeled.
Worst experience ever!!! Somehow they managed to ruin my wedding night. I had gone in a week in advance to book a room and got the package that included everything from rose petals on the bed to chocolate covered strawberries with champagne. When we checked in the of the front desk said everything was set. When we walked into the room there was absolutely NOTHING!!! The let down was so sad that we thought it was pointless to tell them that there was nothing. We had build up our expectations and to go argue with the front desk seemed pointless at that moment. The next day we went to check out and told them what had happened and all they did was say that they had given us a wrong room and that they were sorry.
We have 4 children, and this suite accommodates our family! Thats enough for a 5 star review from me because not many hotels have rooms this size. Yes, we might have gotten two rooms for a bit less at another place, but having us all together is worth the price.I love the courtyard inside this place, too.
Double Tree hotels are a great option in a sea of hotels. This location is in a great neighborhood, close to a mall, plenty of restaurants, and two medical centers. The rooms are huge, safe and amenties include televisions in each the living room and bedroom areas, microwave, sink, laptop docking station and tons of storage. The staff is great. There is a full restaurant and bar with free happy hour every evening.
Who would have thought that a fairly decent hotel would allow their property to be used for a prostitution sting operation by the police department??!I was in town on a business trip. When I pulled into the parking lot, I noticed a police paddy wagon in front of the entrance. There was plenty of commotion. When I was checking in, I asked the front desk clerk what was going on. I was told that the hotel gave PERMISSION to conduct a police sting operation to catch prostitutes at work and conduct arrests. The clerk stated it as a matter of factly like its an everyday thing. I was shocked and felt very uncomfortable. How can a hotel attract this kind of negative attention with pleasure? I wanted to leave and go somewhere else but the hotel was booked through a third party. The lobby was clean, modern and well lit. But the room was very outdated with ugly furniture and an old type of a bulky TV. The bathroom had mildew in the tub and around the sink area. I will never stay here again and wouldnt suggest that you do.I couldnt stop thinking: what would possess anybody who owns a successful business to partake in something like this? Its truly beyond me.
Nope ...didnt like it.Went for seafood.fried shrimp,& stuffed crab were room temp.ask cook if he would turn up heat.he did.i dont like to waste food .still eatAfter we were done .went for the 1inch cube of cake .we noticed the salad bar.Staff never told us there was salad bar.Spoke to Fernando.told him there were no more plates to eat.he stared like he didnt understand me.after I told him about issues.he mumbled and walked away....Thanks Fernando.👎
The good at the location is good but can be underwhelming when you pay for a $48 medium rare ribeye and get a well done steak. It took a while in the first place so I indulged bc of the time and hunger. The burgers were really good though, I recommend to get the RGV burger, delicious!
Very rude lady at front desk...wifi internet sucked....they had a bridal fashion/runway show could not get to our rooms until show almost finished. Nothing was explained. We ordered food and was told if food was seen in pool area it would be taken away and thrown in the trash when other people had been eating their. WILL NOT RETURN!
Rooms were very nice and clean ... Best customer service at the front desk .The restaurant had some great food and service too made sure that we had every we needed and the Bar was very good too I will definitely recommend DoubleTree and I will make sure next time we visit The Valley we will stay there again !!!!!
I keep getting lost in your hotel. Plus my friend Denyse lost her card so until she becomes more responsible and I get my sense of direction back we will be staying home instead. Plus yall got too much fuzz staying there its like trying to sneak cigarretes into country.
I have negative and positive things to say about my 4 night stay. When I made the reservation on the 1-800 number, I requested highest floor available with balcony. The operator reviewed all the info before giving me my confirmation number. She clearly mention all the amenities to me and one of them was the breakfast. When I arrived the check in process was fast, they gave me a room in the 8th floor so I was happy with that but was told the breakfast was NOT included! 😡 I go to my room and to my surprise it had no balcony! 😒 I go back to the front desk and the clerk that I had check in with was busy so I go to the other clerk. I think her name was Iris or some name that started with an I, super helpful young girl!! 👍🏻 She apologized and gave me a room on the 9th floor with balcony. 😊 Awesome room, only thing is I found a key at a very visible area on the floor. 😒 Saturday night I found a cricket in the restroom, which I thought I killed but to my surprise later on it kept on making so much noise it didnt let me sleep well. The thing is I could not find it! 😒 We also went down stairs one of the nights to have some drinks at the bar, big mistake! 😡 It took around 10 minutes for a lady to take our order, a budlight and a frozen margarita. She brings the drinks a big while later and my drink was on the rocks! 😡 After calling her several times I let her know and she changes my drink. Again! We had no attention from either one of the 2 waitresses so my husband needs to get up so he can ask for the tab to pay up, NOT good! 😡 Check out was fast and was offered cookies 😊 By the same girl that switch my room at check in. The reason why Im giving 4 stars is because of the girl at the front desk being so helpful. But the fact that I did not get the breakfast and the service at the bar still has me wondering if I should stay there again. I am a Hilton honors silver member and have stayed at this hotel for years!
The interior was very nice but as for service, I wouldnt know. I didnt spend enough time there for that (was at a conference) but if the service was to that same standard as the interior design then this review should be five stars. I can only imaging the price though.
This was our 1st staycation. We had visited this place 4 times when it was Embassy suites, so we were hoping for a great experience. The pool and the receptionist who greeted us and helped me push my cart all the way to my room were the only highlights of our stay. We booked by phone, no one asked about breakfast, and when we checked in no one confirmed our reservation or breakfast, so we assumed (as it was with Embassy suites) breakfast was included with booking, so we ate there and after we finished, they asked us for our breakfast vouchers. I went to the front desk to ask for them and i was told i didnt pay for it. So they charged us $33 for breakfast! 2 adults $13.00 each & a child $7!! I was upset! My 5 year old ate a small bowl of cereal! So they comped me 1 adult n we paid $20 for a basic breakfast no frills. Then there were ants in our room. In 3 walls. The maintenance staff was vert nice. They sprayed bug spray and thats it.... the roof was leaking on the 9th floor, on the 1st floor, and in the pool ceiling too! The room was humid and it was either too hot at 77 degrees or too cold at 76 degrees. Never going back! Not worth the money.
Probably the worse stay I have had to date. I am seriously thinking about no longer leveraging my HH account and switching. Summary below:1) Room was not clean.2) There were kids running everywhere. We went down to use the hot tub to relax after 16 hours of traveling and were squirted in the face by kids not being supervised. There were literally over 60 people in this little pool area.3) Staff was under-dressed and un-professional.4) We need an extra set of blankets. The front desk associate stated that he had already handed out his extra blankets, did not have a key to get more, and was the only person working.I would not reccomend staying here ever!
Very noisy, both from road and walls.....food is decent, shower was pretty bad....could not get strong flow and water was either cold or very hot...no in between...beds were ok...the room was fairly big for the price.....the service was pretty goid as well....just was not expecting that much noise and a crspoy shower :-/
Iuvd the roomrate for the prize room so clean but my granddaughter striped the top covers of the queen size bedbottom cover over the mattress was saturated with what appeared old urine stainsBut besides that overall my granddaughter luvd throwing the coins to the water fountain & luvd her free breakfast & that they all spoke even though we look Spanish usually first they talk to us.in Spanish but we dont know Spanish all employees should first approach people in English then if reguest Spanish talk to them in Spanish

2022-08-16Nice hotel with so much potential. When I first walked in and saw the layout I was amazed. Rooms were clean and sanitized. Front desk staff were friendly and professional. Parking can be a little tight, so use the parking structure next to the hotel. The restaurant inside the hotel has a small menu for the evening crowd, however the service is extremely lacking. I would like to give Crystal a big shout out of gratitude for guest first service attitude. Thanks Crystal.

2022-05-09Mothers day brunch...My husband and I went to the Christmas buffet back in 2017. It was delicious with plenty of food! When the buffet re-opened after covid, we brought 2 other couples to your Mothers day brunch on 5/8/22. We were so disappointed. Not only was the food supply low in the dishes, it wasnt the quality we had had in the past. All main dishes were only a quarter way full. Our waitress, although friendly and trying to be helpful, you could tell they were seriously understaffed. The desert table was sloppy and ran out of different items without being refilled. Your famous cookies were delicious although for a 2 pm seating, we had to wait till 3:30 for them to be served.. We had to wait over a half hour for the bacon and sausage to be refilled and even then, it was rubbery. Sad experience for $39.95 per person. Never again.

2022-08-22Very spacious rooms breakfast was good in a pinch but definitely not the hotels deciding factor. Bar was well stocked knowledgeable bar tenders who made good drinks they even gave me a suggestion that is now one of my favorite mixed drinks. Rooms had comfortable beds and nice think cushioned pillows.

2022-06-19Great place to stay for extended trips. Nice clean rooms and you can set up your own cleaning schedule. Tanya was an amazing server and always looked out for us whether we were just getting off work or getting ready to go in. I would definitely stay here again.

2022-04-06Service was really amazing, some of the nicest staff I’ve ever engaged with. I loved all the Amenities Bar, Restaurant etc. Hotel however does need a lot of upgrades. Outside of the pool smelled fishy and near the bar it smelled like a backed up Sewage line most of the elevators were out and stain’s on the carpet was a little unpleasant. Overall because of the such great service I give it a thumbs up.

2022-04-01The location isnt the best but nothing is really far, plus the airport is a few miles away. Service is almost always great. The bar has a decent selection and the bar tenders make the night enjoyable along with the live music from time to time. Its all convenient after working all day not to have to leave. The elevators are always broke though.

2022-03-21The cleanliness for this hotel definitely needs to improve. It looks nice until you enter your room. Ours was 309 and there were stains of I am not sure what on the bathroom walls and door but I was able to remove them with a towel and hot water. Our sink stopper was full of gunk that was so gross to look at. There seemed to be blood stains on the carpet in the room. We won’t be staying here again. The filth in the room is revolting considering it is a supposed 4 star hotel. It’s not what it used to be 3 years ago at all. Needs an update and it wouldn’t kill anyone to give a real cleaning and disinfecting to the rooms.

2022-03-17Older hotel, used to stay here when it was an Embassy Suite. Wanted to eat in the restaurant and even though it is completly set for guests, you are directed to go to the bar to order and eat. I let the employee know that I dont like to eat in the bar and was told in a pretty rude tone thats what I need to do. It is funny how as a regular traveler one employee can kind of change the experience for you if you let them, Carlos is one of those employees The actual room is not bad, seems clean and the desk clerk was pleasant. Sat for about 15 minutes in the bar waiting on service then decided to just eat somewhere else.

2022-06-09We held our Boys Soccer Banquet in one of their Banquet Rooms a couple of weeks ago. Everyone was pleased as to how it turned out. Doubletrees event coordinator was so accommodating and very helpful with the whole process. The space was exactly as described, the tables and equipment set up as needed, and the food was well served and delicious.

2022-03-22The clerk during check in gave me hotel room card keys to incorrect room. She wrote the room 725 on it, my sister was having issues checking in and while I was trying to help, the manager asked me what my room was and he discovered I received the incorrect room number, had I used the keys I would have walked in to incorrect room that was already being used. No apologies were given to me. The room had wet carpet and smelled humid. The restroom toilet had very low water and was clogged with first use. We were too tired to report after a long drive to our destination so we just used the lobby restroom when needed. Overall not a good experience with hotel.
