Holiday Inn Express & Suites Austin South-Buda, an IHG Hotel in Buda
DONOT BELIEVE THE POSITVE REVIEWS. THIS IS STAFF LEAVING POSITIVE REVIEWS.Rooms are filthy. Bugs and Mildew everywhere. No Customer Service. Entered our room and sheets were in corner beds not made. Toilets had #2 stains. Staff handed me a brush to clean. All that said I witnessed the worker at front desk (Middle Eastern Man) call a black quest a b*#th n*#@ger for asking for clean towels.NO WAY THIS HOTEL HAS 4 MORE LESS 1 STAR OTHER THAN STAFF LEAVING REVIEWS. WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER BEEN IN.
If a hotel was graded only on its staff, this hotel would receive an A+. Unfortunately, this hotel has other issues. Although there are two TVS in the room, the cable service is inferior. Many channels were pixelated. Not only did the paper channel guide not match the TV channels, the guide on the TV did not match what was on the TV. The right arm rest for the desk chair was not attached and kept falling off. I understand that the hotel was undergoing renovations, but these issues seem unrelated.
You cannot check in until 3pm! Nothing in your email confirmation tells you this. So when you arrive to go to your room to change for an event - no allowances are made and the management would not answer their phone when the desk staff called twice. Ive never been refused a room when arriving early at other hotels.
Positive: NOTHING!! Negative: I did not like anything! The room was dirty, lampshades were busted, drapes falling down,single-ply tp, the breakfast was awful, the whole property was under renovations. Noisy room by elevator, 1 ice machine and its on 1st floor - ridiculous!!!
Honestly this is the worst hotel Ive ever been to.The only good thing is the ac and the beds.I was going to get a hotel for my granddaughter to have a good time but the pool is dirty, the bath room smell like poopthe staff are rude the, TV barely works and the room is soo beat up.
Horrible smell. Everything broken from iron to climate control. Hotel stated mess was due to renovations in hallways. However, there did not appear to be any renovations. Operator should be renovating and updating 1980’s furniture. Working toilet, faucets, and shower are more important than hallways. Sprucing up hallways and leaving rooms in disrepair is misleading to consumer. Allocate funds to training staff to properly clean using aseptic techniques and get mold out of bathroom area.
Wonderful front desk Personnel. Very insightful and Intelligent. Its a very nice Change from the Drones that man the Front Desk at this Hotel Chain....Honesty ,is the only Policey. Here and wonderfuly welcomed by me.Any way..My Best Wishes if you follow my lead and chose this location.See you down the road...
The first room assigned to me did not have a working heater and I was moved to another room. The lock on the second door would not open with my key. I was given a third room. The bathroom needed a lot of work with the shower stall. I have stayed here before and never encountered these problems. I was disappointed. The manager was very helpful and accommodating with the situations beyond his control.
The facility itself is good but the staff was absolutely amazing. One of the front desk workers named Lacey is the most wonderful person we have ever worked with in a hotel. My boyfriend and I were in a car accident during our stay there and she went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of, even in the middle of the night. One of the maintenance workers helped wrap my boyfriends broken arm just so he could shower. Extremely kind, extremely hospitable, and we would highly recommend staying here. Thank you Lacey for watching out for us, we won’t forget your kindness. 😊
Honestly this was the worst HI Express I’ve ever stayed at. Visited at least 10 other properties previously. I’ll definitely rethink trusting the brand. Property is old and has not been maintained inside. Our room felt icky, not “fresh” by any means. Carpet was gross with large stains. Beds were bouncy, at least sheets were clean. Bathroom faucet was very loose and bathroom is just old. The one employee that we ever saw was polite. Breakfast was about half what I would normally expect. Again, 1 employee holding down the breakfast area, nice guy. I’ll just say the management of this hotel is obviously not making cleanliness and upkeep as a priority. Trust the reviews. I really thought it would be better, but it wasn’t.
Never again will I stay at this hotel very disappointed with the service they provide which was only checking me into my room .the room was filthy and had a nasty smell 🤢 toilet had mildew stains and just in general the hotel was nasty and messy the pool looked like shrecks pond , the manager was super rude when I told her about my unsatisfactory , I feel like It was overpriced $157 for one night .
One of the reasons I stay at IHG hotels is they give a minimum standard that works for me. Many times they exceed that standard, but they are pretty much guaranteed to meet my basic expectations. This hotel did not. The room wasnt completely clean, the AC rattled, and their spotlights on the front of the hotel were hard to block out. It was in a good location, which was why we picked it, but I wished we had stayed somewhere else. When we complained to the front desk staff, she was sympathetic and promised to have the manager call us -- he never did. I wont be staying at this hotel again.
Absolutely horrible experience. Booked for 6 nights and we prepaid. Left after 5 because we were fed up. Room keys never worked a single day. Bed was never made up despite repeated requests. We were left sitting in the lobby one night for 20 minutes because once again our keys didn’t work and no one was manning the front desk. Manager finally showed up and was extremely rude. We were visiting family and will be returning to Buda frequently. Not only will we never stay at this hotel again, we will never stay at a Holiday Inn Express again. We understand many businesses are dealing with Covid aftermath and staff shortages but this was beyond unacceptable
Overall, it meets my expectations for a Holiday Inn Express. Rooms are always clean, and breakfast is always good for a hotel breakfast.Breakfast selection was a little small, I thought. Though I think thats to be expected at the present time. Would have been nice for coffee to be available all day. The only other thing is that theres not really a great way driving onto the property. Google Navigation will have you drive through a self-service car wash lot with really bad pavement. There is another small road to the hotel, but its a little out of the way and you have to look for it. But thats really not the fault of the hotel. The locations good if youre stopping and staying a few days. Easy access to the airport and other places around Austin with the toll road. Plenty of restaurants and a cool arcade within a few blocks.
How is this property rated 4 out of 5 stars?!?As soon as we walked into this hotel you could smell the mold! When I brought it up to the front office she said it was probably the age of the hotel. When I walked into the room our ceiling had mold! I ended up changing rooms but the whole hotel smelled like mold. Still thinking it was probably the age of the hotel we stayed and asked for deodorizer spray. It was very late so all we wanted was to go sleep. When I brought it up to the manager the next morning he admitted it was indeed mold. He said that during the freeze they had issues and still had not been fixed (6 months later)! Why would they still let people stay there? I had to check out early because of the conditions and still have not received my full refund! Stay away!!’
The staff was friendly and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. Those were the only good qualities of this hotel. The hotel was dark, lighting was terrible. The bathroom sink didnt work and I notified the staff. They didnt offer any discount on my stay, but I hope they fixed it for the next guest. The window shade was shredded and ripped so light shined through in the morning. Also, the interior is dark and out-dated. The toilet didnt look clean. Overall there was just a dingy feel to the hotel. I will say again the beds were great and the sheets were at least clean.
Took three tries to get me into an adequate room. First, the battery was dead on the card reader so they switched my room. Then, there was vomit on the pull-out couch bed mattress. A third room had a broken pull out couch bed... so I helped staff remove the clean matress from that room and replace it in the vomit room where we stayed. All forgiveable because the lady had a great attitude until the next morning...Breakfast had only bacon and omelettes... EVERYTHING else was depleted. I asked the gentleman if things would be replenished and he stated it would take time. We waited a half hour and the only thing he replaced was packaged muffins (which dont take time). Im talking no yogurt, no milk, no cereal, no drinks, no oat meal, no pancakes, no sausage, no bread of any kind. Several people asked if there was an issue or if this was normal and the man reacted like the customers were the problem. Worse hotel experience in my 10 years as an IHG member and the only negative review I have ever left.
I made a reservation for three adults which I knew would incur an extra fee of $10. The day of my trip our adult daughter changed her mind and did not plan on staying with my wife and me at the hotel. I tried to call the hotel directly to let them know and could not get through. I called the IHG customer service just to let them know there would only be two adults. The customer service agent told me they would refund the $10. When she went to refund it, she said the reservation had been handed over to the hotel, so she would need to call the hotel. She also could not get an answer from the front desk, but assured me they would refund the $10 when we checked in. When we checked in that evening the front desk person said they would not change the price. Not that big of a deal, but my expectation had been set so I was not pleased. The front desk person also did not say anything about my status with the hotel and the normal offer of points or another welcome amenity. I asked her about a welcome amenity and she said there would be none. It was getting late and I didnt really want to argue about a bottle of water, so went up to our room. We had our own water so its not a big deal - but IHGs promise is you will be offered a welcome amenity. Once again setting expectations and not meeting them. When we got into our room, the dresser in the TV was on had one drawer that would not close and another with the handle falling off (see picture). We just wanted to go to sleep so did not bother calling the front desk - not sure they would have answered anyway. But this is certainly a hotel I will never visit again.
Positive: Comfy beds - good location Negative: At checking, claimed my reservation cancelled months prior. No soap in rooms, when asked for some, was told there wasnt any, that it was on backorder. Bathroom ceiling moldy, moving down walls, tub surround moldy. Overall looks rundown & shabby!
Great staff who were always friendly and helpful. The GM was very pro-active and very visible for any questions. I don’t know that I’ve ever met a GM before, but this young woman was visible and accessible to guests and staff, making sure everything ran as smoothly as possible.
We have never had a poor experience at a Holiday Inn Express, but this location was an exception. The outside of the hotel was not well kept. We reserved a suite because we needed extra space. The room was dirty. The carpets had not been cleaned. The comforter on the bed had a stain, which was very unsettling. The ceiling fan in the room worked, but made loud noises, but you had to keep it on to break up the musty smell of the room. I understand that COVID impacts how breakfast is served, however, an orange juice and a muffin in a bag is not enough to say that breakfast is provided. A breakfast that states will be available at 6:00 am but is truly not available until 7:00 am. Beyond that we paid too much a night to stay for 2 nights. At one point we considered taking a loss on our money and moving to the hotel next door. We did contact the front desk about the floors needed vacuum and someone quickly came an vacuumed the floors.
I am one to allow a lot of leeway...but I struggled with the lack of care this facility had. The room was fine enough but didnt feel deep cleaned. No hot water and the faucet leaked. We were there to meet with a title company and they would not let us meet in common areas. I understand covid but we were told they just cleaned and they didnt want to clean again. We decided to check out early and there was no one at the front desk for over two hours to help us. The cleaning staff tried to get ahold of someone but no luck. The location is great...so this was disappointing. This property needs clear leadership and a renewed care.
I have stayed in this hotel just a few years ago and had a great experience. This time the room smelled of mold, there was no water pressure and waited over 30 minute to get breakfast with nothing served. When I asked about the food, the staff said: “JESUS, just wait a minute will you”. I didn’t appreciate the swearing and as I mentioned, it had been 30 minutes.
This is by far the worst hotel that I have ever stayed up that is part of the IHG hotel group. The hotel looks more like a tired extended-stay. And the neatly kept outside was a complete contradiction to the outdated and nasty inside. There were significant water stains on the ceiling in the restroom, and the toilet bowl had rust marks that the staff could have easily cleaned with barkeepers friend but has been neglected. The smell inside of the hotel was that of a 1992 Taco Bell, it was distinctly and early 90s smell that I will never forget. And the worst part of the whole experience was that the window screens could not close, so the bright lights peek through 3 inches of gap and keep you up all night long. For me the Holiday Inn Express is supposed to be one of the most consistent and safest choices you book anywhere. this property in an extraordinarily horrible way is the most opposite of any Holiday Inn express Ive experienced.
On re-visiting I found out that hotel was short of front desk staff because of COVID virus on previous visit. This time it was fully staffed. Room was clean and quiet. Bed was extremely comfortable, with cotton sheets and 4 supportive pillows. Bath was very clean with wonderful shower. Staff very accommodating and manager was very gracious. Will go out of my way to stay again in two weeks because of comfort.
It is evident that there is lack of management, or managers are doing all the work. Looks like you have not had somebody to take care of grounds or landscape. Breakfast was just a sandwich bag with an orange juice and a muffin. I have traveled a lot lately and most hotels are starting to offer full breakfast again or at least, there are more items in the bag. I see how this could be the perfect scenario to save a substantial amount of money through payroll and breakfast expenses but common! I passed through front desk a minimum of 10 times per day and I only saw a front desk agent 2 times, and I am already counting check in. I found a shower cap behind a curtain and a piece of tissue stuck in the door lens from a previous guest, another assumption, no HK manager on duty or he/she is actually doing the job.
With Covid 19, you have to take many things into consideration. They only seem to have one person at the front desk. He was pleasant and very courteous. It did take him a while to come to the front a couple of times but its probably because it was only him. It also took a while for me to contact the hotel prior to my arrival. The bed was very comfy and the room was clean. Its good for a one or 2 night stay but probably not any longer. The breakfast was a muffin and OJ in a brown bag for Saturday morning. There was nothing for Sunday morning that I saw. Im not complaining, the price was reasonable and the area was not bad.
We stayed here and didnt get the room I booked. On top of that, when we went to check out we waited a while. No one ever came, so we left. That was about 9am (check out is at 12) so I kept calling and calling, voice-mail was full. So I kept trying to get ahold of someone, it kept sounding like someone immediately answered and hung up. We finally got home just after noon so I called corporate. They said the manager of the hotel would reach out within 48 hours. Its been a week and nothing. As a Travel Agent, I am furious. I will never book a client at a Holiday Inn express, let alone this location.
The room was comfortable, spacious, and clean. The bed was excellent and I enjoyed our stay. The room had tall ceilings and a ceiling fan to help keep air moving. It was wonderful. The only area that needed improvement was the front desk. As we were coming and going a lot during our stay, there was only once that a person was actually at the desk. Most times there was a sign stating they would be back shortly. At one point I stood there for over 5 minutes waiting for some to come and they did not so I left without getting my questions answered.
For the price we paid per night, this hotel was not worth it. Hallways smelled musty and were not air conditioned. It was evident they did not have adequate staff and are in serious need of updates , repairs, and general upkeep. There were Lots more cars parked at adjacent hotel and now I know why!
Was not happy at all with my stay. We were there for two nights and not once did we get clean towels or bed made up. Understand the COVID thing but for the price of this Holiday Inn this was very sad. The breakfast was a muffin and orange juice in a brown bag. No coffee except in room, which I didnt use because the coffee pot was very dirty. I am usually a Holiday Inn Express supporter but I dont think I will be going back. Not a good experience. You can tell management has changed at this hotel.
10 out of 10--- DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!The room we stayed in was in need of some repairs and was not clean. The faucet in the bathroom was broken and could not be turned off or on without holding it in place because it was just sitting there, nothing to hold it down. The kitchen sink had no water pressure at all. Not even enough to rinse a fork. The room was dirty upon check-in, with trash still in the cans and on the floor.Upon check-in, I also learned that they had charged someone elses reservation to my card. It was their error, as they just asked the lady, do you want me to charge the card on file. We had the same last name. They didnt verify anything else. My card was charged for her stay and mine to the tune of $656. I still have not received my money back. The manager was not on duty the weekend I was there and he refused to speak to me on the phone. I was given an e-mail address and to date, I have not had a response.
Reservation for 3, King and sofa bed. No sheets or pillow in the room for sofa bed. had to go back to front disk to get itRoom has no hangers, nonebathroom faucet needs fixing. not much water comes out when you use it.no options for breakfast. a muffin and some sort of juice in a brown bag +coffee available..checking out, no one was at the front deskno ice to be found on my floor or 1st level. no bonus points for my status was offered or giving. This is my third stay at this location and quite honestly I will have to reconsider next time
The whole place needs an upgrade/facelift. Common areas along with the guest rooms. The wall paper is falling off the walls in the bathroom. The ceiling fan sounds like an old lawnmower when you turn it on. The AC/Heat unit only works on A/C, NO HEAT or normal fan. Window curtains have holes in them. The carpet had food all over the floor from the previous guests. Desk light did not work, not because of the bulb being burnt out, the on/off switch was destroyed. This was my third stay at this hotel and all three rooms were about the same. I will NOT be staying at the property again.
This place is a dump. Hard to find staff, the bed frames in the room were assembled incorrectly, with sharp metal frame extruding out, cutting all 4 members of my family during the stay. Toilet seat broken (the public mens room was broken too). Non-working Ice makers, room service just forgot to service the room. Hair dryer non working (and apparently not a single one to borrow from). Ceiling fan couldnt be turned on with out fear that it would shake loose and kill us all. All laundry rooms are broken...its an embarrassment to the Holiday Inn brand.
So happy a friend recommended the Buda Holiday Inn for my recent visit. Great accommodations. Quiet and comfortable room with a ceiling fan. Breakfast buffet had a good selection to choose from. I requested an early check-in when I made my reservation. When I arrived the front desk said nothing would be available until 3 p.m. I asked him to call me iwhen something became available. I walked to my car, checked a couple of messages when my phone rang, a room was ready. Very kind and courteous staff.
When we arrived we were exhausted and we immediately went into our room and feel asleep. I noticed something on the a/c unit but I thought it was spilled coffee. When I woke up we were off to watch our kids play more games and we went back to the room exhausted. In the morning I opened up the drapes and there was something that had dripped down the window onto and into the A/C, additionally, the curtians looked like a corner had been dipped into something. This was not a new issue, the dripping was dry and crusted and the shades were all discolored. The gunk dripped into the air conditioner so we apparently were breathing it all night.
The hotel staff were great. Quick check in and very nice. As for the rooms... they were pretty gross. The first room smelled and was really dirty. We asked to be moved to a different room and the staff were able to accommodate immediately. To be honest the second room was not much better. The floors were filthy, the bathtub needed to be cleaned, and the lighting was terrible (I could go on). I definitely would not come back and would not recommend to others.
Driving up we noticed very unkept landscaping compared to the surrounding hotels. Easy check in but as soon as we opened up our room, we were hit with a very musky, mildew smell. The room looked clean and the beds were comfortable but the was the best part of our experience here. The pool was murky and there wasn’t breakfast offered until 9am. It was literally a brown paper sack with an orange juice and two muffins. I understand they’re not being a full breakfast because of Covid but they can do much better than this. Overall pretty disappointed with our stay.
The bed was great. I had a nice quiet nights sleep and the room was reasonable, but the fact that there was a used empty shampoo and hair left behind from the previous guest is just unacceptable cleaning procedures. In this day, with COVID, that should not happen. How can you even say you cleaned a room with something the size of a shampoo bottle left behind. No way!
When we arrived the room was not ready and elevator was out of service. The front desk had to provide a full bar of soap since rooms did not have soap. We were told we could cancel without penalty however trying to locate a replacement hotel location at last minute was not feasible. I felt the rooms (I had reserved 2) should be comped as we had to carry coolers and luggage up 3 and 4 flights of stairs. Not to easy for a couple people in there 70s. All they did was gave a 50% discount which was better than nothing. I asked to see the manager but only received a phone call when I was in the room. Also when checking in the front desk staff did not wear masks which was a little concerning. Needless to say I will not be staying at this property again. In fact when we left I was informed the elevator would be out of service for about a week. Feel sorry to the people staying.
The rooms were outdated by 20 plus years. Bathroom door didn’t close and exhaust fan didn’t work. Room phone didn’t work. Went there with 3 families everyone had issues with their rooms. For the premium price they charged per room you would expect no less than a four star hotel.
I had a recent stay at holiday inn express in Buda Tx. The moment I got off the elevator the hall smelled like old wet carpet, shower was dirty and the ceiling was moldy. No replacement room was given. Called guest relations and was on hold for 90 mins no answer. I will never stay at your property ever again.
If you value your sleep as I do then this is a hotel that fits all your needs! They have very comfortable beds and lots of pillows! There are Keureg coffee makers in the rooms. There is a fridge and a microwave in the room! Clean sheets and clean rooms is what you will get when you stay with this hotel chain! I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels and they are by far one of the best!!! You won’t regret paying an extra 15 to 20 dollars a night to stay here! The hotels around there may be cheaper but they are NOT better!!!!
We had gotten a 2 bed suite. They said they where Queen but where full size. It was hard for my husband to sleep when he was to tall to fit. The water wasnt hot it stayed warm long enigh for my boys to share a bath. There was a mold smell and mold on the AC . Definitely wont be using them again. When I told the ower he kept arguing me saying his hotel was good not bad.
The only good thing about this place was the lady at the front desk. We arrived on a Friday and when we returned for the night my mom pulled back the comforter and noticed a strange dark color on the sheets. Almost looked like a shadow. So she lifted the sheet and on the mattress pad was a quite fresh stain of a sort of bodily fluid that i apparently can not say or my review will not be posted. Mind you, there was no fluid on the sheet so someone had to of seen the dirty pad and still continued to put a sheet over it!!! DISGUSTING!!!!! I called the front desk and the lady working was at a loss for words when I told her. She also informed me that she was the only one there and she could not leave the front desk but I could go down and pick up new bedding. She tried to find us a new room but there was not one available. I went downstairs and asked her for the manager on duty. There was none. Many hotels have a manager on duty every weekend that usually stays on the property so this seemed odd to me. She then continued to tell me that they were changing management so she wasnt sure who the new property manager would be on Monday. So we had to change our linens ourselves. The following day we figured our room would be nicely cleaned because housekeeping was supposed to be made aware of our situation. We were gone all day and when we returned at night our room wasnt even serviced AT ALL! Beds unmade, towels on the floor, etc. Besides this the breakfast was trash. Coffee was horrible and the orange juice was water. We were only charged for one night which was the only thing the woman at the front desk could do for us but this is beyond RIDICULOUS AND DISGUSTING!!! After complaining on day two we found out there were many other complaints about housekeeping. I DO NOT recommend this hotel at all.
Very nice hotel. Friendly staff, very accommodating. The beds are very comfortable, love the bedding too. Breakfast had many choices and was good. We requested a late checkout which was approved with no hesitation. Well then we got stuck in traffic and called to let them know we wouldnt make it back in time and they were very understanding and extended our check out again. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I will definitely stay here again when Im in the area. And I must mention there is a Starbucks in walking distance.
We usually stay at An IHG HOTEL, but this one did not need our expectations. Mold on bathroom ceiling, dirty sticky floors, smelled like someone had just heated food, the a/c was not working and no bath towels. Looks as if it is in remodeling mode, not quite sure as some rooms were open on the 2nd and 3rd floor with no guests. We took pictures to show front desk and that’s how we got switched to another room with mold issues.
We stayed for one night and slept comfortably! The hotel staff was very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. There were outlets available on each side of the bed for charging devices, which is always nice. Our only complaint is the sink in the bathroom was set far in and small, which was difficult to reach for short people.
Covid restrictions in place so beware. It was not explained to us that linen service would not be provided unless we called front desk - only after we left for the day and arrived back in evening was there a note under the door - should have been informed as we checked in. Grab-and-go breakfast was only two plastic wrapped muffins and small orange juice. Room itself showed wear but beds comfortable. For full price room expected better-luckily Starbucks just a block away.
I was planning on staying 4 nights. After 1 night I had to check out.The room was not set up according to the COVID19 in my previous stays at Holiday Inns which have been exceptional.1. Tiles in bath tub area had mold between grout on walls....no bleach had been used2. Shower curtain had a soured smell....no bleach or cleaning had been used3. Room had a moldy smell overall4. No regular coffee K Cups supplied5. Not enough wash cloths6. Front reception desk was dark with agent coming out from a back room behind counter hard to understand7. Chairs piled up in eating area blocking doorway which I assume was to keep patrons out....first time Ive seen that at a Holiday Inn...I get it...Other Holiday Inns have not done this during COVID-198. Just not very inviting......I assume that is why there were not many cars out front when all the nearby hotels were pretty packedThis is the first time I have ever sent any review for Holiday Inn Express....I have had a great experience at all my previous locations.
Loved the stayOverheard fan noise kept me awake in rm 323But quiet when turned off. People friendly. No one mentioned the IHG club this stay. I did not get top floor even though there were only 5 cars in the parking lot all night. Overall the stay was great even though we miss breakfast and being met at the desk by a real person right away. Covid 19 go away!
Heater did not work.Toilet seat cover was sitting on the bathroom counter. Iron was broke but while we waited on the staff to bring a swap out instead the repair man came up and to argued with us over if it work. Then refused to swap it out. (If you kept plugging and un-plugging it would work.)Shower had a weird flood problem?? Bed was very comfortable.
Only problem was that no one was at the desk in the morning when I had accidentally locked my phone in the room. I hadn’t realized until I was in my car and needed someone at the desk to make a new key so that I could grab my phone. Finally a gentleman noticed me and came to help, though I don’t even think he was desk staff as he seemed to be doing maintenance or house keeping instead.
We enjoyed our visit at the South Austin-Budha Holiday Inn Express! The staff was friendly. The breakfast was delicious. The rooms were extremely nice and clean. The beds were comfortable and pillows were fantastic! The access getting around the area was easy to manage. Would definitely recommend this hotel and stay again!
We were told by another person staying at the hotel that they were warned about the elevator outage.I called and explained that my wife is handicap and was not able to walk up the stairs. They were not able to guarantee they could accommodate us.On arrival two days later the elevator was still not repaired. After about a half hour the desk clerk was able to shift us to a ground floor room. When we arrived at the room to enter the key would not work. Returned to the desk and reset the key again. It still did not work. He helped us enter the room with his managers key. He told me that the door lock battery needed to be replaced and that in the morning he would have maintenance take care of it. Before we left for a function we asked the desk clerk if they had a repair order and they did not. She said she would set it up. When we returned the new desk clerk had not seen a repair order and we were still locked out of our room. When we returned after a late dinner they had finally repaired the door lock. For breakfast the first day we had to ask for plates for breakfast. They brought out about 6-8 place which was not even the same number of people in the dinning room. They were told they would have to use bowls. We had to ask for a filling of a couple of the items on the breakfast bar that was empty.Room was great and the beds were great, but all of the other issues cold have been solved. The manager in charge did promise me extra points on my stay. The elevator was still not repaired when we left. My daughter and her husband had to haul luggage and belongings up four flights of stairs.
This hotel is VERY hard to find in the dark. You can see it but trying to figure out the maze of ill-lit streets to the hotel is an ordeal. Even trying to get OUT of the place to anything other than the access road is difficult. We also didnt have any housekeeping while we were there for our two overnights. When we asked why we didnt have at least our beds made, we were told that they were in the middle of a management transition and didnt have enough housekeeping staff. Our desk chair kept falling apart so after telling the front desk about that, we returned to find a stackable banquet chair had been brought to our room to replace it. Not comfortable but at least they tried. The hotel wasnt that full so it would have been nice to get another office chair. We also were awakened to a drilling sound like a jackhammer going off again and again beginning at 5 in the morning. I suspect we were next to or directly above a housekeeping laundry room. It sounded like a dryer when you have a pair of tennis shoes in it. Overall, the only thing good about the room was it was much cheaper than staying in Austin AND the bacon was awesome.
When I pulled up to the hotel, I thought it looked like the place was about to be foreclosed on. There has been lots of rain lately, however, this grass was nearly knee high and the property looked TERRIBLE!!! The staff seemed to be OK and we had some water on the bathroom floor on the last night we stayed. But I would not recommend this hotel. Cleanliness was sub-par and I felt like we were staying at a cheap motel and not a typical IHG property. All the other hotels in this complex has nice landscaping. I would be embarrassed if I was the management of this hotel.
When we arrived we thought the place might be closed down, grass/weeds 1 to 2’ tall. (Not an exaggeration). Once inside it seemed normal for COVID-19 times. Checked in on the Sept 9th, everything went as usual, they even cleaned the room daily. Then around the 16th or 17th here comes the COVID room cleaning policy note under the door that we have been experiencing at other HI since early July. Then every night it was how long to wait at the front counter for someone to answer the bell to get towels. If they had towels one night! On one occasion I asked for towels and the floor mat for in front of the shower, she gives me the towels and for the mat she gives me mop head refills.
Overall satisfied. Front desk staff not in a hurry to greet incoming guests but friendly enough to get the job done. Grounds outside were not maintained. Entrance to hotel/parking is weird but I assume there will be ongoing construction. Room was mostly clean, some trash on the floor and didn’t smell fresh. Shower was not great and tub didn’t drain well. Towels and bedding were soft and comfy. We were only there for one night so in all it served its purpose.
We visited the Buda Holiday Inn Express on a trip to find a rental in the area for our upcoming move. We arrived at 240 and they had a room available for early check in. The front desk clerk was kind and courteous. But that was the best part of our stay unfortunately. When we got to our first room, the trash can had been set on the desk and still had trash in it. The beds were made and the towels/toiletries replaced, but there were crumbs on the counter and hair on the bathroom floor and in the shower. We immediately requested a new room, and while the front desk clerk went to check his records, the maintenance man came and took the key card maker. I waited 10-15 minutes, and then went to grab my family to finish waiting. During this time, 5 other people came to check in, and all were waiting for the key card maker. By the time we got in our second room, it was around 330. This room wasnt much better. There was mold and mildew in the bathroom, on the wall and tile. There were red and black stains right next to the bed on the wall. And a dirty sock in the corner by the safe. We checked out early the next morning, skipping our second night there, because it was just gross. I love Holiday Inn, and try to stay in them when I travel, and this was NOT Holiday Inn Quality. Breakfast was cold, even though we got there right as it opened, and Im pretty sure one of the staff members had a random friend help him finish setting up. He wasnt in uniform, and I had happened to hear part of a conversation that he came in looking for another staff member. The young man in uniform did greet us pleasantly, but still. Cold sausage for breakfast isnt great.
The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was also good, with bagels, cereal, eggs, etc. The only issue we had was on check-in when 2 of the three rooms I rented were not ready. It was around an hour past check-in when the other two rooms were ready. The staff was apologetic but, I defiantly hope this will not be an issue in the future. We were almost late for the wedding.
Staff is great for an old hotel. They go above and beyond to help. Rooms are comfortable. The building is old and need many repairs. The end door sometimes doesn’t latch which is a safety issue. The only first floor stair door is not plumb so doesn’t close properly. This last visit, the water was lukewarm and never got hot. When I tried to check in a couple days later, still no hot water. I went to another hotel.
Stayed two nights. Had requested a room away from elvator, so initial room assigned on first floor had to be reassigned. Had nice king sized bedroom with seperate sitting area. I go to bed earlier, so my husband stays up later watching tv. Bedroom had a ceiling fan, nice touch. Bathroom was good. Breakfast lacked a lot, no eggs or biscuits although there was gravy. Cinnamon rolls pretty good. No vending machines, no water to buy at hotel store. We have stayed here before and will likely stay again as it is close to family in area. Also close to many restaurants and shopping.
My room experienced varied. The first night was kind of miserable with the smell and wet carpet. I assumed it was temporary because the floor was also wet. I assumed that the carpet had just been shampooed. I didn’t complain the first night because like I said I assumed the smell and wetness would evaporate. I also didn’t want to complain because a apparently the housekeeping staff had all quit and walked out that morning. However the half of the floor was still wet the next day and the odor was still there. Come to find out it was the air conditioner leaking. I requested another room on 09012019 because we had another night. The smell of the new room was what I was accustomed to while residing at the holiday inn express. The stay became better and I wished I would have requested anew room on the first night!!! Other than my stay was nice.
Overall, nice. Water was luke warm in the morning. Breakfast was nice, lady serving it was very nice and attentive.Beds were soft with lots of pillows. Front staff was excellent. The gentleman at desk was very helpful with dinner recommendations. Property is very well maintained and has a lot of parking.
I am a Platinum Elite member so I stay in my share of IHG properties and 99.9% of the time theyre great. However, this property is exceptional.I was greeted by a smile and told I was upgraded (I didnt have to ask). The property was immaculate. Everything from the parking lot, the entrance, the elevators to the hallways was faultless. Every employee I encountered smiled and said hello. My room was top notch and the bed was one of the best Id slept in.The management of this property has their act together! My only regret is that my schedule had me staying in the Austin area one night... but Ill be back.
The beds were super comfy and the blackout shades were good. I travel for business every other week, so I stay in hotels a lot.The breakfast choices were super basic, and the hot food wasnt so great - but I guess you shouldnt expect much when its not full service breakfast. Also, the hot tub jets were broken when we were there. This was a bummer as we were staying for 2 nights and wanted to enjoy the hot tub.The staff was very friendly and the room served the purpose we needed for a nice price.
My family and I were very impressed with this Holiday Inn Express. The hotel was super clean and very modern. The rooms were spacious and comfy, and the eating area was big. The eggs werent the greatest, but that wasnt anything too terrible. The only concern for me would be the elevator. Every time it stopped and the doors opened, it would shift two or three times. It literally would move up and down a bit as you were getting off and on. That was a little concerning. Other than that, the hotel was great and I would definitely stay there again.
The Hotel was nice. Only issue I had was that I thought the sheets on one of the beds were worn and should have been tossed a while back. I like a fresh sheet feeling.Breakfast was great, especially for a complimentary. Location was good. Not sketchy. Buda is a quaint yet busy place. Must visit Cabelas that is nearby. Overall it was a great stay.
Room did not have any shampoo or soap. Tried to call the desk to request but the phone didn’t work. Went to the desk to request and was given only one small bar of soap. Turned the shower on and it did not function properly. Called the desk (on my cell phone) and was told it would be fixed the nest day. My husband was able to tighten the shower head and made it work better. No one ever followed up with us. Went downstairs at 8:00 and there was no coffee. Would never stay at this hotel again.
Temperature does not work like it should. Be sure you are able to stand a 57 degree cold room as you walk in and or 98 degrees heat setting at night. Front desk agents are not properly trained to handle arising problems. You will most likely be told here in Texas its either hot or cold. Breakfast was very poor your lucky if the pancake machine works fine.
The room wasnt ready for us despite upgraded reservations. Our room was damp, with slick tile floors. There wasnt any coffee or hot water for us in the lobby. We were not provided with enough towels or toiletries for a family of 4. Our hotel room did not lock when we left, so we took our valuables with us to dinner. Check-in staff was not welcoming, friendly, or apologetic. Breakfast was lacking waffles.
The beds are amazing! Clean fluffy cotton sheets, foam pillows, and I am having a terrific nights sleep!Room is huge w a fridge and a freezer combo. Large bathroom. Wish there were larger shampoo bottles. Lots of towels.Large pool but no hot tub :( plenty of outside seating and look forward to enjoying pool when its hotter outside. The water was freezing today.
Since google maps did not direct me to the location, I did call the front desk and the clerk on duty was very helpful. However, that is where the good experience stopped. I was hopeful as I saw the exterior of the building and the lobby/restaurant area. When I went into the room, all optimism stopped. There was a musty smell, I should of turned around, but after a long day of travel I settled in.It was evident this has been a refurbished property, but poorly done. My room had a musty smell. Although the drapes and bedding was current, the multiple oversized mirrors, lighting poorly placed and overall “tiredness” was evident. There were several large “dark spots” on the carpet that were sticky, I noticed one of the beds looks like it had been set on. I pulled back the covers and it was evident sheets had not been changed from prior guests. GROSS.. I immediately checked the other bed and it was fine. But a very uneasy feeling. The bathroom wall paper was loose in several areas and a corner of the bathtub and floor tile had dirty, nasty grout. On the wall by the toilet it was evident the wall had not been cleaned in a long time since there were spots and “stuff.” The plumbing fixtures in the tub/shower, sink area did not match and evidently were of very low quality. Just overall, not a clean presentation. On Friday morning, before going out for the day, I did tell the desk clerk about the bedding. She apologized. When I returned later that afternoon and went into the room, it was evident both beds had the linens changed. However the coffee was not replaced, carpet not vacuumed.I have never written a poor review on the IHG website, and I wanted to give you an opportunity to respond. The room I stayed in doesn’t reflect any experiences I’ve had at other IHG properties, even older ones. I can overlook bad decorating, but the cleanliness of beds, bathrooms and carpets are critical.I’m not interested in hearing “thank you for the feedback and we will talk to the team.” The team should of been trained and not based on my feedback. How often do the “leaders” look at the rooms and ask themselves “Would I stay in this room with my family?”
I was part of a large group in town for a wedding. The majority stayed with us at the Holiday Inn Express in Buda. the front desk was polite and check in was easy. With no stress we were able to enjoy the time together with family before the wedding. Breakfast was convenient and made the morning easy. Check out online made for less worry with everything else going on. My daughter left her phone in the room but with one call to the front desk they located and kept at guest services until we were able to pick up later that day. We really appreciated the honesty and friendliness of the hotel staff.
Traveling with four grandchildren can be difficult but when staying at a Holiday Inn Express in Buda, Texas, I felt safe and well attended to. Great choice of food for breakfast and clean comfortable rooms kept everyone happy. I stay at this hotel often because of the personal service and of course for the very nice facility. Every day as we left the hotel to go on various adventures around the area, every staff member (and I mean everyone) greeted me with a smile and wished me a great day. Now where else does that happen? Not very often I must say. Thank you to the staff - you are the primary reason I continue to make this my home away from home every chance I get.
My stay at the hotel was wonderful. The Staff and room were great. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable and nice bedding. My sleep was interrupted by the all night construction next store but that will not be the case going forward. The only downside was the breakfast food. The scrambled eggs were not real. Ugh. My family and I are use to eating real eggs. :-(The overall stay was great and we would definitely stay there again and plan to this year.
The hotel is overall a nice one, but the room wasn’t cleaned thoroughly. I ate breakfast during a lull, so the food wasn’t fresh, though the offerings were normal for a Holiday Inn Express—some healthy choices among the starches. The business center and laundry facilities were both unavailable for use, I noticed, even though that wasn’t a factor for me. Front desk staff was excellent.
We had a family leisure trip come up at the last minute and we had a pleasant experience at your hotel. While in the car, I looked up the phone number for Holiday Inn Express and called the one in San Marco, Texas. However the price was more than I wanted to pay for one night. The customer service agent suggested the hotel in Buda, Texas which was only 20 minutes from San Marcos which is where we wanted to be the next morning. It was a pleasant experience. We had a great room that had wonderful bedding and atmosphere for sleeping. The Great Room where we had breakfast the next morning was a great benefit that we really enjoyed. The weather was yucky and we didnt have to go out and look for a restaurant in a town we werent familiar with. The lighting in the bathroom was exceptionally good. I hate hotel bathrooms with not enough light to put on your makeup and do your hair. Overall a great experience at the last minute.
We arrived late at night, around 11 PM. After a really long day of flights back from St. Thomas, all we wanted to do was hop in bed. We were already dressed for bed when I discovered the first 5 long coarse hairs, one literally woven into the top sheet/comforter configuration. Upon rolling back the top sheet/comforter I discovered more hair, these shorter and finer but thank god NOT body hairs. The bottom sheet looked clean and the pillow cases for the most part. I called downstairs... whoever had taken over the late night shift never answered and we were already undressed and not about to redress just so we could go downstairs and look for whoever was supposed to be on DUTY! We rechecked the bottom sheet and pillow cases and basically uncomfortable fell asleep without a top sheet or comforter, not knowing what was going on with the hairs and possibly dirty sheets/comforter. The next day we asked to speak with the manager and told the clerk on duty about our disgusting night and no response from the front desk. She said the manager was not there yet but would be coming in soon. Her response from our report about the long black hairs was most of our housekeeping staff has long black hair... I told her I dont think two kinds of hairs and the way the hairs were woven into the sheets could happen from hair just falling out of a maids head... We go back upstairs and wait for housekeeping. A nice young man from housekeeping (with red curly hair...) knocks on the door and asks if we need any TOWELS! We said yes but hadnt anyone talked to him about our sheets?? He was more than willing to change everything out and did, but I called downstairs AGAIN to see why HOUSEKEEPING had not informed their staff immediately of our situation. Clerk said she had informed Housekeeping. Still NO response much less apologies from Housekeeping nor the MANAGER of the hotel. Later that evening I asked the front desk if I could get a replacement toothbrush for the one I had lost in transit... just like the little cards say if you forgot or need anything... The evening clerk said she didnt know where they were but would go look for them. About 30 minutes later we noticed there were no clean pool towels and I asked the same clerk for some clean towels. She said she would go LOOK for those as well, and no, she still hadnt found the toothbrushes... As we were waiting by the pool for both, about 15 minutes later another mom came out with a stack of 4 clean pool towels. I said Oh good theyve brought clean towels. She said those were the only ones... the clerk had given her the clean towels we had been waiting for! The next morning my husband asked the day clerk if they could mail 3 postcards for us... something hotels have done for their guests for centuries! They said no they didnt do that... WHAT??? We loved our stay in Buda to be close to my husbands grandkids and plan on making our stays in Buda a tradition. There are at least 3 other hotels within the same parking center as this hotel. Even though we are loyal Platinum IHG Members, we will never stay in this hotel again. And NEVER a response from the manager for ANY of this!
This is an ok hotel. Pillows and beds are great! We were gone all day, got back to room and it had not been cleaned!! Talked to front desk! They apologized and gave us bonus points to make up for it not being cleaned. They handed us a clean set of towels and apologized again. Was not a horrible stay but we expected better!!
Overall, our one-night stay at this property was a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The staff accommodated my late request for a ground-floor room, and was most pleasant and helpful. Our room was right next to the fitness center, however, we were not disturbed by any activity in there. Our only purpose was to get a good nights sleep, so I cannot fairly judge any the extras offered. Breakfast was fine, albeit a bit crowded at the moment we decided to go eat. My only, slightly negative comment on the whole experience would be that the beds seemed unusuallly high off the floor. My wife, who is relatively short, and somewhat physically limited, had a rather challenging time getting upon the bed. but it quickly became an exercise in how to climb the mountain, and did not deter from an enjoyable experience. It certainly was not worth bothering the staff for a new room. But could possibly be a real issue for some guests. Other than that, it was an enjoyable stay.
The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable with nice clean linens. The breakfast needs improvement. There was a good variety but the eggs did not taste like eggs (perhaps egg beaters) and the pastry tasted like plastic. Coffee was good and the attendant kept everything refreshed. Overall for being included in the price of the stay, I think the breakfast is adequate
On arrival to the hotel, the front desk manager was very accomodating to our needs. We had already made reservations, but an unforeseen accident occured while en route to the hotel. The manager was very accomodating with changing a room to meet our needs and got us through the registration process quickly. When we needed to extend our visit for another day, the manager was able to get that done. Whenever we needed anything the front desk staff did go out of their way to get what we needed or to help in any way. Our room was comfortable as was the bed, but I noticed there was no set time for room cleaning. There were also children of staff on the property which we thought was unusual. There were a couple of minor things, but overall the staff made sure we were comfortable during our stay.
Stop!!!!!!!!!Very disappointed 😞. 4 nights &4 days nothing was ever wiped down, elevator, walls, room headboard..fingerprints, stains ,etc....masks are required! Staff is very friendly! On the customer service side I do give them a 5 star...housekeeping no stars ,sorry I have to be honest from what Ive seen with my own eyes.. Free WiFi and breakfast
Just stayed one night at this location on our getaway in the hill country, but I would have to say it was one of the best hotel stays I have had. Very friendly staff, the ladies in the breakfast area were very helpful and caring which made for a very great breakfast experience. The room (411) was one of the biggest king rooms I have experienced over my years of traveling. I will definitely share this location with friends, family and colleagues.
A very nice hotel. We requested a quiet room and were given a room at the end of the hall. It was very quiet. There were only 2 things that I found fault with. The coffee was not replaced in our room after the first night of our 2 night stay, and breakfast is not served until 7:00 on Saturday and Sunday, the two mornings we were there. All in all though, we would stay at this hotel again. We had a suite, and really liked the layout of the room. It was clean, and the bed was comfortable.
The lobby was very nice and clean. They have multiple options for drinks and it looks like the breakfast would be pretty comprehensive as well. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. I could definitely spend a decent amount of time staying at this location if need be.
Arriving at night hides the tall weeds that would be the first indication of a property not well maintained. Elevator with In Fire Service light stuck on and the floor light not remaining lit would have been the second. Missing chair at the desk in the room, plastic forks stuck in the a/c vent, wobbling ceiling fan and squeaky bed would have been more clues. No hot water on Saturday night and Sunday morning due to issues was the topper to let us know that Holiday Inn does not review the status of properties that have their name on them.
This was such a good experience. We had leave our house due to storm damage. The manager at the Buda location was very kind, thoughtful and excellant. The beds and pollows were very comfortable. Breakfast was very good and we were very appreciative of the attitude and consideration we received.
Only stayed one night, wish I could have stayed more. Beds were some of the most comfortable Ive had at a hotel. Room had a ceiling fan, a big plus for me. After a hectic drive in, front desk lady could tell I was tired and offered me a bottle of water. Much appreciated. Breakfast was great and offered a variety of items. Will stay again when opportunity arises.Only drawback is lack of signage to direct you to hotel. No sign at road to show where to turn.
Comfortable beds and very clean restrooms. Rooms were spacious and we liked the fact that the suites had a coffee machine. The air co was quiet and the decor in room was nice. The check in and check out was easy with staff giving us a huge friendly welcome and gave us a meaningfully goodbye for the trip back home.
My wife and I travel quite a bit and stay in many different hotels and rooms. We decided at the last minute to get away for a night and go to a water park that’s close by. We booked at the hotel, we arrived early and didn’t know if we could check in early, but we were so happy with the helpful staff. They allowed us early check in, and late check out, gave us free water. Breakfast was great! Bed was great!I would highly recommend this hotel!
First the good: I like the layout of the room, the room seemed nice, beds were comfortable and there was a ceiling fan in the room. The breakfast was okay and the staff was nice but now the bad: there was a dirty towel in our room upon check-in, one TV required work from maintenance before it worked, we could not find HBO and the front desk staff was unable to help us, the door hardware broke during our stay, the loveseat cushions were slanted so it was hard to relax on it, the water pressure was low. This felt like a cheaply put together place that could use a little work.
Any time I am in the area of San Antonio to Austin on business or for leisure, I stay at the Holiday Inn in Buda, Texas. I am never disappointed. The manager and all staff are all friendly and helpful. My latest stay was with 5 grandkids and my daughter. We had three rooms - all clean and comfortable. Marion, the manager, knows me by name now and always greets me with a smile. She makes every effort to fulfill every request I have. I am so very impressed and grateful.Love this place and will continue to recommend this wonderful place to all my colleagues and friends.Thank you so very much ! A happy Grandmother
Read my review in earlier content. Never staying here again. Room was not cleaned offered reduction in price .. never happened. Maybe second worst hotel stay this year. With COVID 19... how do you offer a room obvious not cleaned with a card that says cleaned with care.
I am in the area at least once a month. Tried this location because decided to visit at the last minute and used my points. Had to check in 3 different times because no rooms were ready. At 6:15 pm the room I reserved was still not ready and they “upgraded” me to a king size room with a pullout sofa that came with no sheets or a blanket. Staff was not the friendliest and when we came in the last time front desk was yelling at the maid to get more rooms clean. Very dissatisfied with my stay at this location and was totally not worth even the free points stay. Save your sanity and drive further down 35 to stay in San Marcos.
The inside was very nice & clean, great service very friendly. Breakfast was great! But I was a little upset about the pool area, the jacuzzi was very dirty (seemed as if the filter wasn’t working) lots of bugs, and algae. The regular pool was a little more decent but a lot of algae present in the steps... we usually love going to hotels swimming is half the fun so I was very disappointed.
Checked in to this hotel on IHG reward points after a lousy experience at the Holiday Inn / Market Square in San Antonio. The manager greeted me and up graded my room immediately. On top of that the manager remembered me and greeted me along with the desk staff every time we walked in and out. The Hotel was spotless clean and our room (321) was fantastic. I have only one complaint about it and it was not a big deal to me because most rooms do not have them. Ceiling Fans cost
My husband and I have left previous reviews and they are not showing up... I took my husband away for Fathers Day weekend and WE WILL NEVER stay here again. The shower had mold and the floor was nasty. I killed two bugs in the room with one of them on my pillow. We have pictures and showed them to the staff upon checkout. We were told that we would hear from the GM and would more than likely be compensated. I have never experienced this in any other Holiday Inn Express.
I have been staying for business for over a month and have been nothing but happy with the service, clean room and hotel, how the manger and staff go out of there way to assist and always friendly. Sam the night desk clerk is always so friendly and ask how my day was makes you feel right at home. Maria is the most courteous and very caring person and always greets me int eh morning with a how are you and really takes time to listen. The GM Raj is exceptional. I feel very comfortable and the location is great, next to grocery, restaurants, I-35. Its the best. Definitely recommend book at this hotel!
We really enjoyed our stay. I was able to relax and decompress, the room was dark enough for us to get a great nights sleep, and there was rarely noise outside. We also enjoyed and appreciated the breakfast, I love their pancakes! All their staff was friendly and attentive, we thank them for all their hard work. Thank you for a great stay!
Where to begin...first, this is my first ever review on a hotel. I stay in hotels on business travel about 90 days/year on average. I thought this was a hotel that I stayed in Buda before, but it wasnt. Even though the hotel is relatively new, this is a privately owned hotel and in my experience, thats a bad sign from a service standpoint. Just trying to get my reservation correct with the desk attendant was like pulling teeth. the room was okay, but the bathroom was set up weird. we were trying to figure out if the room was actually handicap accessible. The mattress was definitely not standard Holiday Inn issue. it was one of the worst Ive ever slept on. WE HAD NO HOT WATER. fortunately we only had to take one shower before we left. the service was terrible. I told the front desk about the water situation and she responded by saying that no one had ever complained about it. Never offered to try and resolve the issue. I went to breakfast and the orange juice was out. I told the restaurant attendent and she stared me down like I just insulted her. after these experiences, I looked at the reviews realizing I had never stayed here. one person noted that he waited 20 minutes on the desk attendant and had to go find her in the housekeeping breakroom. I walked in the lobby after running some errands and two young ladies were waiting at the front desk. after reading the review, I asked them how long theyd been waiting...they said 15 to 20 minutes. sure enough, I went to the housekeeping breakroom and there was the front desk attendant. the ice machines were incredibly load and sitting next to the elevators (not enclosed like most hotels).
Comfortable bed. Nice room view. sleep well. Quiet astmosphere . Reasonable breakfastGood Laundry machines.Clean swimpool and fitness centre.Contemporary flooring and fixtures etc. Disapponted :request to check out 2 or 3 hours later was not granted. I ended up hanging at the Breakfast area for about 4 hours before heading for the next meeting.
This was my second stay at this hotel. It was just as enjoyable as the first time I stayed. Hotel staff is courteous and helpful. Room was very clean and clean smelling. Really like the large soft fluffy bath towels. Thank you Holiday Inn for the upgrades you have made to all your hotels.
Good hotel. In a commercial area, so dont expect beautiful Hill Country views. Property could use a remodel/refresh, maybe due to the more commercial area where this is located, that could be an issue here. Really was pleased with the ceiling fan in the room over the bed. Bonus points for the wall mounted variable speed control for the fan!Nice stay, nothing extraordinary. Recommended for business travelers who need to be near I-35 in the Austin-San Marcos area. Not a vacation hotel.
I enjoyed my time here at Holiday Inn South Austin (Buda). The staff there are friendly and always have a smile on their faces. My room was clean as expected from the brand, and all other expectations were met. The night crew was busy all thru the night ready to assist with any requests such as towels or wake up calls. I find that impressive because Ive stayed in hotels and found the night crew sleeping. Thank you for all that you do and keep up the great work.
Weve stayed at many IRG- Holiday Inn Express locations... in fact they are our favorite. This location was a total surprise to how bad it was. Upon check in our keys, and the other guests that checked in before and after us during a 15 min period... the front desk had to let each of us into our rooms and re-issue the keys after re-booting the key coder. On our second night we arrived back to our room to find again our keys didnt work and a sign on the door handle saying someone would be right back. Went to front desk and had them accompany us to the room after again re-coding our keys... only to find housekeeping had not cleaned the room or restocked the towels, plastic cups or coffee. Had to go to front desk to get these items. The hallway had used q-tips on the floor, a used band aide and paper scraps... the front reception area had paper scrapes floating around.
Normally HIE is my favorite place to stay. First, the room that I booked was not available. I had a suite but they moved me to another room at the same rate which just seemed like it should have been cheaper. Next the floor in the bathroom was sticky. There was mold in the corner of the tub and bathroom items from the last guest were still on the tub. The A/C made noises all night and cooled poorly. I told the front desk about that but no service was performed for night two. Lastly, the cinnamon rolls that I love had been replaced by a dry flavorless Cinnabon. Boy, I hope you go back to the old ones before my next visit!
With how much we go out ot town for my job. We were using another line of hotel and we were having problems constantly! Right off the back with Holiday Inn, we seen a much better quality of just about everything! From the courtesy of the staff to the food served at breakfast!! We are very pleased with this hotel and plan to use yall from here on out.
If I could rate this hotel higher than 10, I would. I have stayed here numerous times and never have been disappointed. If ever in the area, I always stay here. The entire staff is friendly and helpful. In spite of the recent hurricane, the breakfast area was clean and provided a variety of choices. All in all, a wonderful place to stay when I am away from home.
My favorite thing about Holiday Inn has to be the large fluffy white towels! This location did not disappoint. Coming back to my room after a day of working to a freshly made bed and a restock of coffee was very refreshing. The team had friendly smiles all day and night. It was a great week.
Used the IHG app to book this room. When I arrived the desk clerk stated that all the rooms were booked up. All the other hotels in the area were booked up as well. The desk clerk had a room that was under maintenance because of a broken AC unit. They gave us that room. It hadnt been cleaned so they had to call out someone to clean it up. The elevator did not go to that floor so we had to drag our bags up the stairs to the room. The bottom line is we still paid the same rate. I felt like I was in a cheap motel
We stayed here for a weekend softball tournament and enjoyed the large room and comfortable beds. The breakfast choices were very good; although the eggs were probably below average. The selection of other items made up for the eggs. The only negative about this property was that there is only one elevator which made for a long wait sometimes. We usually take the stairs but being on the 4th floor made for quite a workout. We would stay here again if the need arises.
Hotel is conveniently located, although it would be helpful to have larger signs near the feeder road. Our GPS system insisted it was located where another hotel was! The room not only had a good AC, but ceiling fan as well, which was GREAT! The staff were all very courteous and friendly. Breakfast was your average hotel fare. My only complaint was apparently children running on the floor above us were annoying when ready for sleep, but this was no fault of the hotel. Parents should just understand that all guests do not enjoy hearing this after 11 PM.
No complaints about our stay! We chose this hotel last minute for a shopping trip at the Tanger Outlets and although it is several miles away, the commute back and forth was very easy and convenient. Beds were very comfortable, air conditioning worked great and but there was a ceiling fan to help as well- unusual but a great addition.
The facility was easily accessible from major interstate and provided a comfortable nights sleep. It was a very quick 1-night stay preceding a full days seminar held in Austin. Although I didnt get an opportunity to use the various amenities (swimming pool; weight room; etc), each of these areas were very clean and well-kept. The guest room was located away from the elevators and provided very minimal pedestrian traffic. This resulted in a very quiet and comfortable night. When next in the Austin area, I intend to use this facility for both business and personal stays.
We are usually satisfied with Holiday Inn but this property was not it.Most importantly, bed was not good. My wife had a terrible sleep the first night due to this. It seemed softer than other locations and it squeeked every time we turned. We asked them to fix noise and remove the foam pad on top. They fixed the noise but foam pad was not removed. It was removed when the maintenance person was sent up after a call, but the bed covering was left half-done when he left. Also, no note was left so front-desk person did not know what was done/ not done.Hand towels and foot towel were removed but not replaced. Called housekeeping but was asked to come down to front desk to get them because they were short on staff.Another problem is the front desk. The staff was never there. They were usually behind the glassed section and did not come out until they were called - no bell. One time, I had to wait 5 min before anyone showed up.Lastly, a bad location. Not in a good neighborhood and had to drive through big water puddle in front of a Car Wash every time to get to the hotel. All this after paying unreasonably high rate for a room.
Paid and reserved a king sized suite.. walked into a doubles room. Went to the front desk and was told they didnt have any kings only doubles. Everytime I exited the room, upon arriving back our cards wouldnt work so we would have to go back and get new ones. Left two stars because it was clean and service was nice.
Front desk person was not properly trained or supervised. She was unknowldegeable on how to receive payment from my company, and she had no support from anyone who was present at the property. When I tried to check out at the front desk in the morning, nobody was at the front desk to help me, nor had they been there for at least 20 minutes. Nobody answered the phone, when I called at that time either, so I left without checking out or getting a receipt. When I tried to call a couple of days later to get an emailed receipt, nobody answered the phone.
We arrived for a four night stay, grandbaby being born. When we checked in all was Ok until we arrived at our room from a 8 hour drive and wanted to bathe and shower. But no hot water. Called the front desk and was informed that the boiler had been out and barely making water warm . No apologies or information when it may be fixed . In fact it stayed that way for 4 days. Not happy at all with our experience. And we are loyal to ihg.
We stayed in a queen suite that has.a sitting area, but the TV is in front of the beds, not the couch. Ceiling fan was one reason I booked this hotel, but it squeeked so loudly we could not watch TV or sleep with it on. Never had any Kleenex in our room either. Room and bathroom were very clean and quiet. Breakfast was good, several options, kept it stocked.
Housekeeping was cleaning the room when we showed up at our room door. The housekeeping lady apologized to us and went downstairs to get the keys for the different room. This time we got a bigger room at the same rate. The staff is very helpful and the breakfast served is delicious! Definitely recommend the property.
I cant stay there anymore because everyone that work there was on Meth. Their eyes were dilated to the size of plates and we were outside in the sun.Shame on that City for letting businesses operate in such conditions taking money from tourists that will never returned to that town.
We arrived after midnight. I had called the front desk telling them we would be very late arriving. They were very accommodating and had our check in ready for us. The only negative thing I can say is that the hotel is kind of hard to get to. There are no signs telling you where the entrance to the hotel was. Rooms very nice. Roomy, clean. Beds were so comfortable!
Overall the stay was pretty good, except for the soft mattress. My husband woke up with a sore back that lasted for hours. he does experience lower back pain, but this was extreme. I had a small amount of pain as I do not need the mattress to be as firm as my husband needs. Mine was not so bad. So, if you dont have ANY back issues this would be a good place to stay. Also, the dresser drawers would not stay closed. Since we were only there one night we ignored them. The staff was extremely helpful and had just the right amount of professionalism and friendliness. The location was also good.
The property is in great shape. Clean Comfortable. Could use a couple more breakfast choices. Now if you are coming to rest and pay a acceptable rate then this is the place to stay. We stayed here since we visited Austin and were heading to San Marcos so this is half way in between.
Not sure what’s going on with this location but the standards here are below average compared to the locations I have stayed at. To begin there were hot water issues at this location and this is unacceptable by all means. The towels in the restroom had hair on them and the room had a very musty odor. Only pro of the trip was the service was 5 stars.
The hotel is nicely built and the rooms are comfortable. Crickets were in our room and kept us up the first night, but we called the front desk and the problem was taken care of by the next night. Really enjoyed the fitness center but hot tub and pool didnt seem to be usable -- pool was too cold and hot tub was too hot. Had they been working, I would give this a hotel a 4/5.
A good size room, away from the craziness of Schlitterbahn & the outlet mall, but close enough to enjoy those attractions, as well as Wonder World. Our check in was a bit odd. No one was at the front desk even though it was only 6 PM. I actually called the hotel from my cell phone, and the front-desk employee finally came to the desk. Everything went fine after that. The breakfast was nice. Not a lot of variety, but the food was hot, and everything was stocked. The outdoor pool was a little small but clean. Not positive I would choose this location again when in the area, but will keep it in mind.
When first arrived it seemed like a good hotel other than the lobby being very hot and uncomfortable. When we got to the room there was long black hair in the tub. The pillow cases had stains of some kind on them and the sheets appeared to have blood stains on them. When we went to leave there was no receipt under the door like normal. I had booked two rooms one for me and me wife and one for my son and his family. They had one room correctly and one was booked for 2 nights. It took awhile to get this corrected but during the process the staff was very rude and talked down to us. I had stayed in UHG hotel in Houston on Thursday night and could not have been happier with their service and the hotel quality. Hotels like this make you want to change your hotel relationship.
Room cleaning came late in the afternoon by a tattooed guy. He handed us floor towels (gross) for hand towels. The hotel ran out of soap so when we checked in there wasnt any. There was no toilet paper either. Also, no towels available and had to wait for them to come out of the dryer. When our room was finally serviced, the guy didnt wipe down the counters or throw the trash. I seriously doubt he did anything other than make the beds.
Hotel called if I am going to keep my room due to late arrival and said yes. Upon arrival there was no staff to greet me after many calls to the lobby and ringing the chime several times. Spent over an hour waiting until I left and went to another hotel. Returned same morning and still no one available. Returned in the afternoon and manager was able credit my stay. Called IHG customer service and they were no help.
This hotel is not the normal for a Holiday Inn Express. The hot water never got hot. The bathroom looks like it had been repaired by a hack. The breakfast food was terrible and the layout of the area was not inviting. Neither TV worked in the fitness room. Cracks in the walls. The drive way to the hotel looks like they didn’t want you to find the hotel. Will not stay there in the future. Big disappointment!
The staff was extremely friendly. The morning we left Marie who was working the front desk and I had a nice conversation about our stay. We spoke about our vacation and what we enjoyed while we were there. Two hours after leaving we discovered my husband had left his cell phone in the room. When I called the hotel I was able to call Marie and she remembered me from our conversation. She quickly went to our room and was able to locate the cell phone. She called me back within minutes to let us know she had the phone at the front desk. A relative of ours picked up the phone and mailed it to us . I feel that the staff is honest and courteous. Now I plan to stay only at the Holiday Inn when possible. Christine G. From Louisiana.
Older hotel with updated exterior and lobby. Rooms are oddly large but space is not well utilized. Appears to have made an effort to update rooms but underestimated the budget. Bedding and pillows were the worst I have experienced in several years. Staff was pleasant and professional. Will choose a different option next time I’m in town.
The beds were way to old I literally slept in a whole . The bedding was to old and rugged and the sheets had a lot of loose threading and cotton balls it felt gross especially the first night I stood I got bitten up on my feet.. I finally just went an bought some Lysol and sprayed our beds. We had no choice but to stay because we were payed and ur 5th wheel was in the shop . But I did I would of moved hotels. The food was delicious and the cleanness of the hotel was excellent.. just the beds and bedding was inexcusable
Both times by coincidence, I was taking young men to the airport to report for military duty. A few years ago, it was our own US Marine son who came home from Afghanistan and he LOVED the beds and peaceful atmosphere. This time, my friends Grandson in the US Army was leaving to report to another base - and saved nearly $200 by flying out of Austin instead of Houston. So I brought them back to a hotel I had enjoyed in the past, and it was once again a good experience. Keep up the good work.
I read a # of past complaints about this property - but as far as Im concerned, they have all been addressed. Breakfast not only was on time - but set up early. The AM hostess was cheerful and very attentive. The water was hot for my 7AM shower. As noted by others - the bed was terrific. The property was not sold-out the night I stayed, but there was no noise noticed from other guests. All in all, a great room at a good price.
The holiday in express, in Buda Texas, shows professionalism in their service. housekeeping has their rooms looking Very clean. The breakfast area has been exceptional with tons of options tochoose from. Front desk staff always makes me feel welcome as I am coming go from meeting to relaxation. overall this team have acted professionally as well as friendly- would stay here again.
My experience started with an unattended front desk and clerk who seemed to busy to greet us. Forms were thrown at us and a request, more like demand, for our credit card and Drivers Licenses request. As a member and owner of holiday inn. I was not asked what I would like to do with get points or water. I was only given one water as an after thought as they turned and then drop it on the counter. Our bathroom only had two shower towels where normally get four and the a/c unit cover was laying up against the A/C unit. Then there was someone playing loud music and even after calling it continued. Called again and still no resolution. The breakfast was not very good and tables were not cleaned but plates left on leaving people to wait for a seat or clean up the mess. The eggs tasted like powder and orange juice tasted like dirty water.I would not recommend using this hotel.
While I appreciated the late night arrival and customer service, I was quite displeased that some of my requests were not granted. I had specifically requested a room away from the ice machine/elevators because we were traveling with an infant - this was not available despite the hotel being fairly empty. The floor was not vacuumed once during our four day stay, and I didn’t see a vacuum on the housekeeping cart. This made me quite wary when I found rocks on the floor of our room. Also, an item went missing during our stay. At checkout when I mentioned this, as well as the bug that was found in our room, the representative was very flippant and disregarded our request. (**we booked with IHG and did not receive bonus points either**)
Hotel is convenient to Austin but about 2/3 the price of comparable Austin hotels. Staff was nice, room was fine. Always like when the HVAC is controlled by a wall thermostat and when the fan can be kept on continuously. Bed was comfortable. Fitness center left a lot to be desired. Only a few machines and the elliptical didnt work. No weights. Standard breakfast fare. Restaurant choice within walking distance are poor, but several decent ones within a couple miles. Basically, its a good alternative to the high-priced Austin hotels.
I would absolutely recommend this hotel. The room was large, clean and quiet. I was a little concerned with the closeness to the highway and the fact that we had a front room, but the room was really quiet. We had been traveling all day so the comfort and quiet of the room was a plus. My only suggestion is one I saw when I was reading previous reviews: you need a sign at the frontage road intrance and/or the other drive off the side road. It was a little confusing, but having already been made aware of no sign I was driving slow and found the turn in. Other than that I 100% loved the hotel.
Love the comfy beds, the quietness of the room and the air conditioning. Austin, Texas, is a very hot and humid area, so A/C is very important to me. My room was cool and dry.The beds were wonderful.I was frustrated by only having basic cable TV in my room, but it was not a big issue for me.I will definitely stay at this hotel again.
Ill give 1 star because the clerk at the front desk was friendly. Our room was disgusting. It smelled musty. The floor was not clean. There was absolutely no hot water, it wasnt even warm. The wifi didnt work and the TV didnt work. The hallway was nasty as well. I will never ever stay here again.
Absolutely awful, found USED diapers in our room, they changed our room and did not let us know, and are still charging the price for the room we originally reserved ($30 more than the room we received). Absolutely do not recommend this hotel, stay at one of the other two next door.
Make sure staff gets your stay correct. I called in am to confirm my stay for 2 nights. They confirmed my stay. I left went to the lake once I came back key wasnt working. Went to front desk activated my key and to find none of my stuff in my room. Called front desk and asked they had nothing documented on log. So I only got 1/2 of my stuff back. Staff took the rest of my stuff. I was greatful I took my valuables with meaning. I wont trust you leaving anything of value.
When I arrived the elevator was broke so it wouldn’t stop on my floor so I had to take it to a floor above or below and walk the stairs in order to access my room. Woke up the next morning to get ready for work, needed an iron to iron my clothes but there was not one in my room. Had to call downstairs to have a gentleman from guess services provide me one @ 6:45 in the morning. Elevator was still not functioning properly when I got off work on Monday... The lighting in the hotel corridors by the elevator and halls near the rooms is quite dull, carpets need to be cleaned or replaced. The rooms have bathtubs which is okay I guess but no good liners to prevent water from wetting floors when taking a shower... it was an experience
We stayed 5 nights in early October in the Holiday Inn Express in Buda and had a very good experience. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the location was really convenient for travel to the places we wanted to visit. When we expressed concerns about noise from I-35, the desk clerk moved us to a suite at the other end of the hotel! Our only minor issue was the vent fan in the bathroom didnt work.
Welcoming staff, clean comfortable rooms. This HI Express is quiet and perfect for a good nights rest or for several nights rests. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. Bathroom is updated and the towels are so nice -- big and plentiful. We have family in the area and will definitely stay here on our next visit.
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It is in close proximity to S. Austin so I stayed here because of the high room rates in Austin. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room I stayed in has a ceiling fan which is a big plus for me. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. There are plenty of restaurants around.

2022-05-17The only positive feature of this place was a friendly staff. Unfortunately this is one of the most run down and filthy hotels I have ever stayed at. Peeling wallpaper, mildew-ridden bathroom, awful smell throughout the entire place. Pool looked like a muddy pond. Breakfast was terrible with hardly anything available. Holiday Inn is usually my favorite hotel chain. This was a nightmare. Avoid this place!!!

2021-12-08I had a one night stay 12/04/2021 - 12/05/2021. In my first room, the bathroom light was blinking and the curtains were visibly very dirty, so I went back down stairs and spoke with an employee which offered to move my room. The second room appeared cleaner upon entry, so we settled in for the night. The second rooms first issue started in the shower, the tub was not draining during my shower. There was deep standing water during my entire shower. When I got out of the shower I went to dry my face and felt a hard substance on the towel, im still not sure what the hard substance was and thats very unsettling. The toilet was also dirty. My family had already gone to sleep, and it was late so we decided to stay for the one night only. We did not eat breakfast, due to the lack of cleanliness in a room we had concerns about the overall cleanliness of the hotel. I will never return, and I will not suggest this hotel to anyone I know.

2022-06-06Stay somewhere else. A case has been filed with the Better Business Bureau due to rude, harassing clerk. Management was never available during our stay. Still have not been able to resolve our problems. Had to call Corporate. Not very clean. Gross pool. Breakfast hostess was the best employee.

2022-04-23Hotel under construction, rooms very dated, weird room layout. Old fixtures and furniture, bathroom tiles falling off, moldy grout lines and caulking, etc. I would give them that as there were signs posted after check in that the hotel was getting some updated hallways. They need more than that. Last straw was trying to have breakfast at 7:30 am (middle of breakfast time) and there was no food. Runny eggs, gravy but no biscuits, no cinnamon rolls, then found plastic wrap in eggs. Poked head into kitchen and one lady was on her cell phone sitting down. No one else was attending to the breakfast area. 3 of us left without breakfast.

2022-04-26Sometimes one just receives an awful experience, and not necessarily the overall daily demeanor, unprofessional display as I endured.I checked into my room and walked into a sauna. At first I figured ok housekeeping has air on high. Not exactly, a it was on 63 and blowing non cool air. I lowered it to 60, nothing. I phoned the manager and simply stated, not to start off on the wrong foot, but can you give me another room due to the non working AC. He quipped back, I am sending someone up. 75 minutes later, as I sat there sweating, fatigued, no one showed and I called IHG and was ready to leave. IHG rep wasnt much help either constantly putting me on hold 10-15 minutes at a time. I was walking out during that time and drove home while still being put on endless hold.I spoke with managers through IHG and they werent helpful as I continue to be most disappointed with IHG with their poorly run, managed hotels, except for IC and SBS, for most part. ByeBye IHG I am sticking with my pother choices TY!.

2022-06-22I guess I should have read recent reviews. At arrival the gentleman at the front desk only said which key went to which room, that was it. Entering the room there’s a very strong odor of mildew and just feels moist. The bathroom light flickered enough to put someone into a seizure. Low water pressure with barely warm water along with mold and mildew in the shower and on ceiling. Poll is closed for the season (still).

2022-04-23Ripped curtain patched with trash bag and duct tape. Sock found in room. Passive aggressive staff. Lying staff. Moldy shower. Moldy sink. Moldy toilet. Broken AC. Broken chair. Thin walls. Malfunctioning TV. Rapidly flickering light. Broken key card door lock. Unreliable maid service. Handicap-unfriendly handicap room. Broken toilet roll dispenser. Broken wall tile.Out of dozens of hotels Ive been to, in various countries, in regions of varying wealth, this is literally the worst hotel Ive seen as of yet.

2022-04-10Holiday Inn Express??? Not.Ruined wedding for my in-laws. Staff lied and said ALL the rooms were being cleaned at once and they couldn’t go to their room. They arrived LATE and missed most of wedding. Had to dress in lobby bathroom.

2022-04-11I have called this location 3 x. Just now!! Plus called reservations. However, I need to speak to the front desk on shift before I book. I have a simple question regarding an amenity being available or not, on location. Each call rings and rings, unanswered, and then they pick up the phone, and... hang. It. Up.3x!!!!Hey!!! Are you Busy with guests??? Cool... answer the phone and place me on hold. But to hang up the phone without a word, unacceptable.

2022-05-28Had no room service, ironing board, telephone, ice machines didnt work, pool closed and nasty. Went to front desk twice just to get towels. Excuse was short on housekeeping. No excuse for spending 4 nights with this kind of service. Do not recommend this place to anyone
