Holiday Inn Express & Suites McAllen - Medical Center Area, an IHG Hotel in Mcallen

Mcallen, Hidalgo County, Texas, US
I had to stay for 42 nights due to work in the area along with many other colleagues. The location of the hotel was good, minus the noise from the medical helicopter nearby, which was on one side of the hotel. It was nice that they had a pool and large gathering area with grills outside and underneath a patio. The breakfast was OK but I guess after 42 nights it gets a little repetitive so some other type of variety would have been good. Might I suggest a menu change every other week, especially if you know guests are staying for a long period of time. Otherwise, the room was good, the area was good and the hotel staff was especially friendly and welcoming - which is refreshing during these times.
Overall this was a very nice place to stay. The double black out curtains are wonderful. Bed super comfortable. I did not have my room tended by housekeeping daily so I was a little disappointed my bathroom floor was not swept or cleaned more thoroughly. Staff was very pleasant otherwise. The biscuits and gravy breakfast was fabulous :)
Cleanliness is superb. The room is beautiful and smells clean. The only negative thing I have to mention is that I was told that breakfast is not included in my stay. I asked twice about this and the two receptionists stated that I had to pay separately to a restaurant they have there. Either they want to promote that restaurants business thru the customer or they were lying. The advertisement for this hotel in the internet states Relaxed, contemporary budget hotel with a free breakfast buffet, plus an outdoor pool & a gym unless it is false advertisement to lure the customer into staying in this hotel. I give it four stars because it is neat and clean and I would have given it five if it was not for the breakfast deal.
I’ve stayed here at least 5 times and never had issues till this time we had been here 4 nights enjoying our afternoons in the pool and using the grill a few times. On our last night we started being harassed by the night employee around 9pm telling us we had to be out of pool area and bbq area by 10pm because the general manager told him he wanted us out by 10pm no other problems any other night or us causing any disturbance at 10pm he came and started shutting down and pretty much pushing us out not sure what the problem was with him. But what really is bothering is they didn’t see the semi driver that pulled in there lot parked and went to sleep in the truck with it on making noise in the lot all night SMH I guess they only see what they want here maybe it was cause we were Latino they had it in for us.they also shut off my room key @ 1030am and check out is @ 11am so my wife had to keep opening the door for me to get our bags in the car this was not good and I hope you let your general manager know he should not be making those decisions when people our paying full price for an expected service.
I informed the staff at least 4 times about the toilet constantly running. Nothing was done to correct the issue. My room was not the only room with toilet running issues. I stayed at the hotel for 75 consecutive nights and only received 1000 reward points. Had the manager informed me about the first time stay rule I would have checked out then back in every Sunday. I am not the only individual getting the shaft on points. There is a large number of individuals staying at this hotel for at least 45 nights. All getting the shaft.
The cleanliness of the rooms were very poor. There were not a variety of foods for breakfast. Just had an issue with one particular employee at the front desk. The young, petite Hispanic female with black hair that worked at the front desk in the afternoons/evenings during the work week was consistently rude and had a very bad attitude.
Although there was confusion, there is no excuse for the coffee brew cups had been used by the previous guest or the toilet that did not flush. Although the problems were addressed, this should not happen when paying a premium price for a room. Additionally, the breakfast foods cannot be described as hot, just warm. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful.I provide this information in hopes that it will help make improvements to training and awareness of the staff.
I spent 45 days at this hotel on a work trip. Six days a week, there were a small group of us that had to leave the hotel early in the morning before regular breakfast hours. Everyday the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had hot coffee, breakfast bars, fruit and cereal. It made a huge difference and was much appreciated. The only problem I ever had was with the coffee maker in the room witch was swapped out within minutes of calling the front desk.
Breakfast was great. Everything was super clean. The pool was very relaxing and nice. Room was crisp and cool when we first arrived. Front desk were very friendly and welcoming I arrived a bit early and they managed to get me a room. Definitely would stay in that hotel again.
The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. The manager was really great and made me feel welcome and taken care of. I just wish that when it says the room is a suite its not just a really large room. To me a suite is a room that has a living room and a kitchen. But overall it was good and I would stay here again.
The rooms were great here but the staff was pretty bad. No one at the front desk the few times I went. I asked them to add my member number and it took 3 tries before they even wrote it down. Got my check out copy and it didnt have my member number. So I had to go back and ask and it took over 5 minutes before anyone even helped me at the front desk. Great location, nice hotel, just needs better staff.
I chose this hotel because of price and good reviews, but also because it advertised an airport shuttle. The hotel itself was as reviewed, seemingly new, clean, good breakfast, etc... However, when I arrived at t the airport at noon on a Sunday, I called and was advised their hotel shuttle wasnt running. So, I checked Uber. No cars available. Whats up with that, McAllen? I walked the 1.2 miles to the hotel. I was told by staff the shuttle would be available for my 7:45 departure on Tuesday. No shuttle available on Tuesday, and again, no Uber either. I had to walk back to the airport. Its a great hotel, IF you dont need transportation to/from the airport.
Highly recommend it to all family and friends. Eric the manager definitely applied HEALH - heard my concerns E - eased my tensionA - attentatively listenedL - left a positive impression Note: 1st impression is the lasting impression and Eric is a great asset to Holiday Inn.
As always your hotel went above and beyond what is expected. In addition to the hotel being easy to access, great location central to everything, well positioned business center, bright, airy and very welcoming the staff and management is second to none. The outstanding precautions taken to safeguard guests is admirable and the clear and understandable instructions given at check in eased concerns. The grab and go breakfast bag was a great touch!
I have stayed at this hotel more then three nights. I love it . It’s close to all aspects of what I need. Clean rooms, pleasant associates, great ambiance. Soft beds. Good breakfast. Good after hour events for customers. I will stay there again. The only very small problem that I endured was low water pressure when I showered. I let the personal know about it . It won’t stop me from staying their again.
Stayed here the end of February to visit family. The staff was very friendly at all levels. It seems they go out of their way to give you a positive experience. Upon checking in we were given complimentary bottles of water (were in south Texas here so it was definitely needed and appreciated!). Every step along the way went smoothly and exceeded our expectations. The room and bathroom were clean. Our room was very quiet -- though Im not sure if this is a byproduct of the hotel not being particularly busy with guests. The breakfast area was clean with a good selection though it would have been nice if the selection changed slightly from day to day.One particular staff member worth mentioning, Elik, who was very friendly and helpful during the stay. She recommended an area restaurant for dining and it was excellent! So good it got a return visit the following night.
From.the moment of our arrival to our departure, we had excellent customer service. The gentleman at the counter was friendly and told us about the things that were offered at the hotel. The room was super clean and felt comfortable. I liked that the computers were available as soon as you walk in and that there was a printer. Definetly came in handy and got me out of a bind.I needed to use the copier and the gentleman at the counter offered to help right away.I will definitely stay here again! Thank you to the gentleman at the counter and Holiday Inn for having excellent employees!
My room was nice, the breakfast was standard, and I enjoyed having a happy hour every day after I got done working. It was pleasant! I did however have a cleaning lady walk on me while I was half naked and refuse to leave when I asked her to. It was very unprofessional, and made me exceedingly uncomfortable.
The front desk attendant was extremely understanding and went far and beyond meeting our expectations for our nights stay after a long drive. The rooms are comfortable, there’s a nice patio outdoor area with a bbq pit. The pool was nice while it was empty. (Only thing is that maintenance- an older man kept an eye on my daughter and niece as if they were about to destroy the place?? I went to the gym and he kept looking in - we went for breakfast and still checking on them all while it was obvious that they weren’t unattended——weird)
The rate (prepay) was very competitive at $77 and the room was bright and roomy. There is no easy chair or other furniture leaving a void, but there is an adjustable desk chair. The breakfast was good, offering patty sausage most days, powdered scrambled eggs, and omelettes everyday. There is no bar, but they did have a happy hour during the work week, offering 2-3 selections of beer as well as wine. The price of laundry was unforgivable at $4 each for socks, underwear, or t-shirts, so plan to do your own laundry. Great Wings place within walking distance, as well as a Red Lobster. Chilis, and a few others. The shuttle was allegedly available, but the only time I asked, my destination was just outside the limit (Palm View Golf Course). The staff, especially the front desk, went out of their way to be very friendly.
The hotel is amazing. My family and I love this hotel. The only downside of our stay here is a very rude greeter on the front desk named Emmanuel. Since the moment we arrived he showed snarly customer service, no welcoming greeting. When we asked him about the pool he mentioned that we were no longer able to enter due to it being past 10 pm ( understandable) but then I look out my window and there’s a big group of people in the pool. Debating on staying at this location again. One rotten apple has to ruin it for the rest.
Hotel is fairly new, which shows in most of the rooms. Shower caulk and grout lines were a bit dirty, but everything else seemed clean and kept up well. Good water pressure in the shower. Breakfast buffet starts at 6:30am on the nose, but I had to leave the hotel before that most days, so I only got to eat one morning of my stay. The idea of the social hour is nice, but I felt like I was at a college party with the drink options - franzia or light beer. The free shuttle service is nice, too, but it only runs 8am-8pm, so make sure you plan for that.If I had paid for this place out of my pocket, I would have been frustrated with how much I paid. As it is, my company paid for it, so in this case, these things were minor annoyances.
The hotel and our room was clean and comfortable. The room was quiet, the staff was knowledgeable and friendly.Best of all, the location! Everything we wanted to do was nearby. Several great restaurants less than a mile away, best public golf course (Palm View) two miles away, and the traffic is easy to navigate. Highly recommend. Simple and convenient.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this facility. Anytime we make it to McAllen and I need to stay at a hotel, this is by far my first choice! I have stayed at many Holiday Inns and this is my top pick! The staff are always friendly, accommodating and ready to serve with a smile, no matter what time of day. I took my mom with me on this trip and she told her family that we were staying in luxury (she stays in plenty of hotels during her own travels). I loved the fact that when I called the hotel directly to inquire about walk in showers versus bathtubs that the attendant at the front desk that answered the phone even took the time to make my reservation instead of transferring me to the calling center. A !I loved the fact that when we arrived at midnight that the front desk attendant had a great smile and was attentive to our late night arrival. KUDDOS!I loved the fact that when I asked for coffee cup lids, the front desk attendant offered to assist me with three cups of coffee and a plate of breakfast items. SUPERB!!!Like I said...I LOVE this location and the people that work here!! Thank you all for being the best!
This is my second visit in two months as I frequently travel to the RGV for business. My first stay at this location was last month and I wrote a review about the the many useful, modern updates for this 2 year old hotel. I also, recognized and complimented the extreme professionalism and friendliness of three staff members.I was so impressed, that I returned, which I knew would happen after my last visit. The reason that I am writing another review is that as soon as I walked in the door, Liz greeted me with Welcome back!. It was the end of the work day when I checked in and the hotel had a complimentary happy hour with wine, beer, tacos, and warm yummmmmy m&m/chocolate chip cookies. The young lady that manages (Elike) the breakfast and happy hour also greeted me with a big smile and Welcome back! This is the type of service that all hotels wish they had.
Housekeeping staff failed to tell the truth. She knocked at 9 to clean the room. We told her that we were not ready. At 10:50, she knocked again. She was informed that we were leaving and to give us 10 minutes. Neatless to say, we came back around 8pm to an unclean room. Called front desk who stated that the reason it was not clean was due to refuse service. Brought it to the front desk attention and stated manager will contact me. However no follow up.
The day we check in the pool was full of people drinking. girls were walking around hotel drinking and making noice. all the times I went out of my room there was people drinking including the front desk guy it looks like he knew them. My son was not able to go to the swimming pool and next day was closed beer everywhere. also bottles of conditioner and shampoo were empty
My first impression of the hotel was positive, on account it looked like a new property. Unfortunately, once inside the room, appearances drastically changed. Urine was noticeable on the toilet. We were moved to a different room. The room smelled old, moldy and the AC made strange noises all night.
This is a very clean hotel. Smells new when you walk inside and it was actually built in 2017. I know because I asked lol. Theres always fresh coffee and the front desk clerks are extremely nice and very accommodating. Theres a hot breakfast every morning 🌞. Its part of the room so theres no extra charge. Its definitely worth a stay. Just tell them Ashley of the light sent you and they might give you a 🍪 cookie! 😁
This hotel is very clean. It smells clean. The bedding is clean. Thats the number one thing with any hotel. Get that right and youre off to a good start. The breakfast is very good. Egg white omelets with salsa. Mmm. Staff is friendly. I didnt catch his name but the gentleman working the overnight shift is very nice. Also the breakfast attendant who also drives the shuttle is very friendly. The window shades in this hotel are AMAZING. You can nap in the afternoon and it feels like its midnight. No light comes in at all. I would stay here again just for this reason. The outlets are a little odd. I never did figure out how to charge my phone on the nightstand with the lights being off. Its a bit of an inconvenience to get up and walk to the entry way to control the lights and outlets but its a minor thing.
Love this hotel which I visited for the first time at a birthday party event. It’s new and clean, bright and airy, with sparkling floors, pool, and always on tea, coffee, hot chocolate. The event room is spacious and opens up to an outdoor patio - so perfect for entertaining. While I haven’t seen the actual rooms, judging from the newness and classiness of the lobby and common area, I have no doubt they’d be pretty good.
We loved the beauty/ambiance of the hotel. It was modern and had very nicely designed room and lobby. We especially liked all the extra usb outlets and hooks and bench for our stuff. The only thing I think could be improved upon was the number of towels and sofa bed sheets available according to our reservation (number of guests). We got in kind of late and were ready for bed, but had to go down to ask for the extra. I suppose we could have just called the front desk, but felt it might be quicker if we just went down ourselves.
Hotel is great, but 4th floor rooms have very poor water flow. So its a long slow shower. Ive stayed her multiple times and had no issues, but the 2 times Ive had a room on the 4th floor, theyve both had poor water flow to the shower. A colleague who has also stayed here noted the same problem. So, stay here its a good site, but dont stay on the 4th floor
I love the many updated features of the new design of this hotel! It was very well thought out to have a charging station and night light in the entry, an automatic night light in the bathroom, and a permanent luggage rack with coat hooks. All the staff I encountered were exceedingly friendly, helpful and professional. Kudos to Liz, Emmanuel, and Elik went out of their way to make my stay exceptional! I will definitely be returning to this location.
My family and I arrived early and check in wasnt a problem. After lugging our bags up to the third floor, we went in our King suite room and were amazed by how clean and neat everything was. Bathroom was spacious and had a sliding door(no wet curtain to deal with). Room came with a mini fridge, microwave and kurig style coffee maker. Bed was nice and comfy, as was the couch/sofa bed. The kids loved sleeping on it! There were two rolling cushion seats that the boys made use of and the flat screen tv had plenty of channels. We immediately went to check out the pool after resting in our room, and took a dip. The pool is small so it fills up fast. I suggest going in the morning when it opens or early afternoon because in the evening is when its most packed. Breakfast was good, with choices like egg, sausage, biscuits, pancakes, oatmeal, yogurt, pastries and assorted cereal. Along with juices, milk coffee etc. The cooked food was slightly bland but it sufficed. All in all, it was a great stay and we will definitely stay again!
Perfect location and well maintained hotel that welcomes you in as family the moment you walk through the door. The staff goes above and beyond to take care of guests. The hotel design is fresh and appealing.. the breakfast area is the best of any hotel I have visited and is extremely well maintained. Close to many of the areas best attractions and a place I will gladly hang my hat again!
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and quiet. I asked for a top floor room and they accommodated this easily. The Managers social on Tuesday through Thursday evenings is awesome and they serve a good breakfast. I have stayed here several times.
Nice new hotel, but no smart TV or water pressure. Convenient with lots of food and shipping nearby. Medical center and airport less than 5 minutes away. Breakfast buffet as predictable as any holiday inn Express, dinner during the week was slightly better than most. I did have to call after to push my rewards through even though I provided it on check in. Front desk was pretty sparse for attendance.
Room is alright but the bed creaks and I constant hear dripping water outside like Im in a thunderstorm. Bathroom is nice but the shower has very low flow. Forget about using the wifi, it basically doesnt exist. I can check email if Im lucky, then I lose connection. Dont bother trying to look at pictures, listen to spotify, or stream video.
This hotel is my go to spot when in the RGV. The location is in the middle of everything. With most of the road construction done, it is easy to get on and off the expressway. Plenty of dinning options within walking distance. The hotel is modern and keep clean. The staff are some of the nicest you will meet anywhere.
I stayed with my family, and my experience was beyond perfect. We loved the warm breakfast served the next morning. Unlike cold cereal and coffee served at other hotels. The staff was beyond friendly and everything was perfectly clean. I will definitely be staying here every time we visit south Texas.
The hotel was very clean with modern design and great amenities. The hotel staff was very accommodating and friendly allowing us to check in several hours earlier than normal check in which was great considering we had driven 4hrs. We had an issue with our A.C. upon check in which they fixed right away while we went out for late lunch. The pool was clean and had ample amount of towels for guests to use if you forgot one. The only negative which we forgot to address with hotel was that the electrical outlets did not work when lights were turned off. Maybe there was faulty wiring because our phones didnt charge all night even though plugged in and the switches were in the on position.
Staff exceeded my expectations and made us feel welcomed. I was in town for a professional exam and my family was allowed to check in a bit earlier than our scheduled time, which was very convenient for me. During breakfast, the staff was very attentive and quick to keep the dining area clean. Overall, great experience.
This is the second time my sisters and I have stayed at this hotel. We were very impressed with our first stay, so when she came back down to visit, this hotel was the obvious choice. And it did not disappoint!! Comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast, and excellent staff! You should stay here :)
Holiday inn is very comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable. Every visit/stay has been a great experience. I would definitely recommend holiday to anyone looking for a great place to stay and enjoy. The customer service and the cleanliness of this place is amazing. Depending on which holiday inn you stay at the Amenities are excellent. They treat you like a king.
Rooms quality and rest hotel amenities are beautifully designed. Hotel staff is friendly. What I liked was many little things that make a difference for frequent travelers like me. Simple water bottles at front desk to grab, light snack in evening, happy hours from hotel after you return tired from long day. These extras wont cost much but makes you comfortable inside the hotel. I am planning to explore IHG hotels from every business trip now.
This hotel is brand new! All of the amenities are super clean and up to date. At breakfast there is a pancake machine... It blows the pants off a waffle machine! The hotel also hosts a social hour where they provide some drinks. Its not super luxurious, but its a super comfortable and clean place to stay. I definitely recommend coming to this hotel over others in the area.
I had no problem checking in. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. Happy hour was the best. Didn’t have an opportunity to jump in the pool but it looked very refreshing. Everything is new with all the rooms having a lot of outlets for all my devices. I would definitely come and stay here again on my next trip.
My friend and I did not want to drive all the way home so we decided to stay here and it was great. The beds were very comfortable. The room was very nice and spacious. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast in the morning was awesome. Next time Im staying more than one day!
Stayed here recently for business. Was recognized for my platinum status & awarded points. Spacious suite & very nice fitness facility; as Ive mentioned in many of my reviews, thats a very important feature for a traveler. There was a nightly happy hour as well Will stay again when in the area.
My stay at this location is always pleasant. I normally stay 3To 4Nights here. All of the staff is helpful and polite. Also the front desk is very knowledgeable in the computer . Highly recommend this hotel.I feel safe at this location and they always accommodate me with my first floor request.
Walking into the hotel it was clean and refreashing, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very nice and clean easy to control temperature and great system to block out the windows for sleep. It was booked pretty solid and yet was still quite enough to get a good nights sleep.
This was the second stay within a month and I was very happy with my choice. The mid-week happy hour plus the helpful and friendly staff were a big win. The only down side was the food management in the kitchen area. Seems like they had a couple days where they ran out of items and had to wait on deliveries to recover. May need to look over the ordering process to make sure proper quantities are being ordered. Was able to make choices I liked, but wished what I wanted had been there before having to change my choices.
We came to this hotel because we evacuated due to Hurricane Harvey. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and the hotel was nice and clean. Theres free breakfast in the mornings, which was great. And all the shops and stores are less than a mile of the hotel. There was a mix up with our room, but the general manager took care of it and accommodated to our needs.
I booked 2 rooms for a family funeral in the area. Sister was coming from another city booked a room with her reward points. I cancelled one of my rooms the day of arrival thinking I was going to be told would be charged for last minute cancellation but was not so very happy with hotel. Thank you will definetely stay here again. Thank you!!
This hotel sets the bar for many hotels of all brands to emulate. Superior service, staff, and amenities provides guests the abosute best of everything. My wife and I have stayed at this location numerous times and forsee numerous more stays in our future. My hat is off to you and your fine establishment!
We travel to McAllen every month for business. A great, clean, comfortable hotel that we have grown accustomed to. The front desk even recognizes us when we get there which is kinda of nice. Rooms beds and bathrooms all clean and comfortable. Everything we need in a hotel when traveling
Hotel was new and experiencing typical new construction problems. Our assigned 3rd floor room had a distracting vibration coming from roof mounted air conditioning units. I asked the management if they could do anything about it. They immediately assigned us a room on the 1st floor. Everything else was excellent...room was excellent, breakfast was tasty and hot. Overall a good stay....
Over all very good. Only issue would be: not loud, but very noticeable music from pool area during our entire stay, making it hard to get to, and stay asleep. And while the cleaning staff were very friendly, they made no attempts to be quiet at all letting every door slam shut again making it hard to get to, and stay asleep.
This hotel is a very clean, modern, and friendly place. The breakfast was good, they had some great healthy options like an egg white and veggie omelet, as well as the classics like muffins and pancakes. The only problem I had was the noise from the upstairs room, I could hear everything...
The hotel opened 2 months ago so its very clean and in great condition. The hotel staff is very friendly. Only real downside when we stayed was there were A LOT of families with large amounts of kids who ran around in the halls in the evening. It did quiet down when the pool closed so it wasnt too big of an issue and is probably to be expected in the summer.
Over the past couple of years I have stayed at several hotels in the McAllen/Edinburg. This Holiday Inn Express - McAllen Medical Center is my all time favorite. I will not stay anywhere else when I am in town. The property is new, clean and the staff is so welcoming. I also like there are several restaurants in walking distance.
This hotel is clean and staff is nice, but their booking system falsely advertises the rooms. I booked the Executive King because the picture next to the description showed a sitting area with a couch and coffee table. Upon checking in I was told that only King Suite was the only one that included this. The executive is simply more square footage than their king leisure. Even now if you try to book, it shows you an incorrect picture on the description. Uploading photo as an example for proof, this is from the hotels direct website - no third party. I mentioned it to the employee at check in, but nothing came of it. So just keep that in mind if you use their website to book.
Overall I loved staying here and recommend it highly. I commend the designers for delivering a well thought out room with simple and elegant design. The bed was very comfortable with great linens. The room service food was not good at all but otherwise, a great place to stay in McAllen.
My wife and I traveled to McAllen for business. It was quite a drive to get there and we were pleasantly surprised at what great accommodations were waiting for us.The staff was friendly, the property was clean and modern and the pool area (it was too cool to go swimming) was very inviting. We will be staying there again on future trips.
Nathan and the whole staff at this newly renovated property was awesome. The state of the arts gym offered me comfort and all of the equipment of a full scale gym. Its walking distance to over a dozen restaurants and bars. The mall, La Plaza is a short five minute walk. I drove an over sized vehicle which there huge parking lot was able to accommodate. It didnt take long to find out that Nathan was from my native Trinidad & Tobago. Therere that personable and friendly there.
Decent hotel, good decor, very friendly staff, good breakfast, nice comfy bed. The only negative was the bathroom floors had shoe prints all over. They were either unmopped or walked on by a construction crew, but either way pretty gross. I had to lay towels down to walk on, because it was cringy. If it hadnt been for this, I would rate 5 stars.
Good hotel, I will be coming back soon, room service needs to stay out the rooms until they are 100% sure the guest is gone.I had some one knocking on my door at 8:15 am asking if the room was occupied still. they need to coordinate with front desk if the room has checked out.they did not offer a welcome snack or water for been an IHG member
Okay so first off i have to say this hotel is one of the best holiday inn we have stayed at. So clean, modern and staff definitely helpful. Especially Juan from the front desk. He went above and beyond to get us situated. Any future visits we have here we will be staying here again.
I fell in the bathtub because it didnt have any traction on the bottom. Staff was very accommodating to help me fill out an accident report (I didnt have any residual problems except for a bruised elbow and sore muscles for a few days). We also were charged more for our room than the bill shoved under the door indicated. In the future we will book directly with the hotel and not use the booking service.
Just wanted to praise the high level of customer service from this hotel. Liz and Ramses made me feel at home and attended to all my needs.. I travel 365 days a year and this has been the best experience I have ever encountered.. This just goes to prove that customer service goes a long way. Again, Thank you and see you all soon.. Respectfully,Victor
This was our first stay in a more modern Holiday Inn Express room. The lines are crisp and clean. Particularly welcome are the many locations to plug in electronics and bedside CPAP machines, as my spouse and I both require them. Also appreciated are the firm pillows.
Absolutely phenomenal experience at this property. The staff went above and beyond to welcome me in a way that Ive havent seen at even high-end InterContinental hotels. Id highly recommend this hotel for those traveling to the Rio Grande Valley. Ill definitely be staying again.
The guy at the front desk was not there when I arrived. I waited about 30 min for someone to check me in. When I finally got checked in and went to my room. I had to come back down to get a different room. I was put in a handicap room. I was offered no water. No check in points. When I finally got to the door of my room, the key didn’t work. I had to walk back down to the front desk again with all my bags to get the room key fixed.
This hotel is clean, great location, great value for money. It is close to many eating place and shopping. Plenty of parking. The only thing that is not good and it depends on what end of hotel you stay you can hear the hospital helicopter very often, but its not too bad.
We are here 2 weeks. Lets hope the second week is better. Ask for extra coffee dont get it, our bedding has not been changed and we are on our 6 day. We ask if we could have our room cleaned first thing the guy down stairs said yes ,when I ask the maid on the floor she said NO.
This facility, staffed by courteous and professional personnel, could be an exceptionally fine place to stay if it werent for one serious problem. The flimsy floors and walls seem to have very little sound deadening properties. We could easily hear conversations in the adjoining rooms and rooms across the hall. Footsteps from adjacent rooms and rooms on the floor above were constant and very loud until late in the night all four nights that we were there. This is being written by a person who wears hearing aids in order to hear normal conversations. Needless to say, sleep in this noisy environment was very difficult. My strong recommendation: if you MUST stay in this facility, INSIST on a top floor room where you wont be pounded by the sounds of people walking on the thin flooring in rooms above you.
There are 3 national brand restaurants less than 4 blocks away, walking distance. The staff insisted that 103 degrees is too hot to be walking for people who are not used to the heat, and made the hotel car available.Great staff and a hotel with brand new rooms, with a full breakfast bar.Whats not to like?
EManual and Liz always Recognize mrecognizee when I arrive. They treat me like royalty and always ask if I need anything. They are always there for me and give me anything that I forgot Like toothpaste or a toothbrush. Maybe they were being real safe with this Covid virus and make sure that we are safe thank you.
Absolutely phenomenal experience at this property. The staff went above and beyond to welcome me in a way that Ive havent seen at even high-end InterContinental hotels. Id highly recommend this hotel for those traveling to the Rio Grande Valley. Ill definitely be staying again.
From. Mr & Mrs Irizarry at March 15 2019 Not recommended at all !!Business trip for two weeks after a long flight very busy day ! My first time there !!Very bad experience !!
Great experience, with 2 things I had a problem with. The front desk Credit Card machine was not sending my cards expiration date correctly so i spend 30 minutes tracking through my banks phone tree so an error on IHGs side. Quite embarrassing. Also i dont like how the plugs by the bedstands only function when the ambient light is on, it stops me from charging my phone on the bedstand while i sleep.
Thank you all for making my visit and stay wonderful while working in McAllen. Thank you for treating me like part of the Holiday Inn Family, The politeness of the entire team is what make you all the reason I stay at Holiday Inn. We can always work on making the physical part of any hotel better, the things that makes a first impression are the employees. Stay wonderful Holiday Inn Express, I will see y’all soon.
This hotel is a great and clean hotel. The only thing i do recommend them to do is let their guest know or give them a heads up that they are going to have some kind of party by the pool and that there will be noise. That way the guest can decide if they want to stay or go.
Not from the area and needed a place to stay close to the hospital... unfortunately, I was not able to get out of another reservation from a different hotel and was not able to stay at this location. With that being said, I will definitely look at this hotel for future visits. The front desk/ reception personnel, Juliano, was the utmost, friendliest person on helping me locate a hotel. His time and professionalism was greatly appreciated. Thank you again!
Exceptional in every way! My wife and I visit the Valley often and have stayed at many of the fine IHG hotels available. This hotel will be our go to hotel in the future. All aspects, location, accommodations, staff, ambiance, and I cant forget the pool puts this hotel over the top!
The hotel room had booger’s on the wall. I had no towels in my room and when I expressed this to the front desk I was told to clean it up myself because they were understaffed and to also come to the front desk and get my own towels. When I requested to speak to the manager the male at the front desk told me I can talk to the manager on Monday but they knew I was leaving Saturday morning...I was also over billed.
This property was 11 days old when we checked in. It is absolutely beautiful and very modern. It is centrally located and was just right for our needs. Unfortunately we were in the Valley for a funeral, which was held in San Juan and internment in Mission, so this was ideally located for us.The staff were wonderful, extremely helpful and very accommodating. WE ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY.
I stayed there second time as I visit mcallen for work, this time I forgot my charger in the room and called around 10:00ish to ask about it. Talked to front staff and he told me he will ask house keeping and will call back. I never received call back. I tried to call between 12-1 about 3 times and no one picked up phone, there’s no voice mail set up , no one returned call, very unprofessional. Hotel is good but didn’t seem very customer friendly.
I wasn’t expecting much from my stay at this hotel. Liz really blew my mind. Customer service is so hard to come by now a days. From check in to helping me with my belongings left behind, Liz went above and beyond to exceed my expectations with her service. Great job!
It is a highly recommended brand New facility with excelent location, within walking distance to both medical center and a shopping mall. Restaurants and enterteinment are also within walking distance all services provided by the hotel are excelent. We enjoyed it very much and it will be my choice next time I travel to this area.
Santiago, Fabian, Liz,My family and I can’t thank you enough for your generous hospitality!!! THANK YOU ALL for taking such great care of our family during our extended stay. Leaving my Father in Law and heading back home, 6 hours away, wasn’t easy! Your staff lessened our worries knowing my Father in Law was in good hands! Your Houskeeping staff went above and beyond to cater to my Father in Laws needs. This is a BEAUTIFUL hotel with exceptional service!Food is delicious! Beds are AMAZING!!We will definitely be returning guests when in the area!Pete, Michelle, P.J., DeAnna Garcia
1. Stayed on first floor, you could hear everyone in the hallway, attached rooms, and the very noisy and loud parking lot. 2. The A/C thermostat does not regulate the air, no matter what you set it on, is has to be pre-programmed, because it did not reduce the air to a comfortable level, even though it kept going on and off disturbing myself and my spouse. 3. The food was absolutely horrendous, the worst I have ever seen at an IHG hotel, and thats the brand I have always chosen. Threw the food away after one bite, and went to a nearby pancake house.
Came into town to surprise my family for a high school graduation and the cherry on top was coming to rest at the Holiday Inn, not only did my wife and I get a good nights rest after driving 6hrs but our breakfast was catered to us as I was busy tending to my 3yr old while my wife slept in

2022-04-24My family and I were visiting from out of town and booked rooms at a neighboring motel. It was horrible! Desperate to find last minute rooms at another hotel, we were saved by a wonderful man named Eric (the manager). I called and was greeted by a very friendly young lady who assisted us with our reservations. The price was about what I expected it to be. We stayed in the beautiful suites. It was incredibly clean, smelled so fresh, and my family was so comfortable. We slept great and woke up to find hot fresh breakfast waiting downstairs. The pool was beautiful and clean (however we did not partake). A must stay for anyone wanting great service and great pillows ;)

2022-03-19Very impressed by the level of service rendered by the dining hall and housekeepers on a busy Spring Break weekend. The rooms were impeccable and the breakfast area was well-stocked and clean in spite of there being dozens of demanding guests.Unfortunately, these were the only posts at which we spotted female personnel and they were severely understaffed. In spite of being IHG Spire Elite card members, they only gave us one hour late check-out; most usually allow three.A few hours after arriving, I asked about complimentary points we usually receive, but Erik said we wouldnt be receiving any because we were using points for our stay.Later in the evening, when we called the overnight front desk receptionist, he kept us on hold for an extremely long time and then wouldnt answer. When we went downstairs to ask for utensils, he quickly showed us his cell phone and said he was talking to the manager. It wasnt rude necessarily, just a little strange.I finally received an email letting us know points had been added to our account, but they are nowhere near the amount we used to receive for stays before the pandemic.Again, we were very happy with the impeccable rooms and common areas and the clean and well-stocked breakfast during our stay.

2022-04-01The price was perfect and my room was great! The rooms were clean and comfortable. The air conditioning worked very well (extremely important in South Texas). The staff was very accommodating as well, I asked for a couple of things during my 5 day stay and never once turned down. The hotel is very close to the airport and mall, with additional restaurants and shopping all around.

2022-01-05Ive stayed here in the past with great experiences. This week the breakfast was not ready twice out of five days within half an hour of opening time. There was body hair in my shower and debris on the carpet. Helpful staff.

2022-01-05Decent workout room. Room had fuzz and clothing tags on the carpet, clearly hadnt been vacuumed. Hair on the toilet and bathroom floor. Friendly staff for the most part, except Ryan at the front desk. I had to check out early and found multiple unauthorized charges on my bill. Ryan claimed some other guy had my name and room number and purchased items during the night!? He then spent half an hour staring at a computer with no communication, but was ultimately unable to refund me or print an accurate receipt.

2021-12-04Courteous staff and a clean, quiet room make for an exceptional stay. The decor of the room is modern and luxurious. The bed is comfortable and the room is quiet, making for a relaxing stay on a hectic business trip. Efficient, professional staff handled check-in and check-out with ease. The location of the hotel is great -- easy access to major routes and to the city.

2022-01-19Friendly staff and the room was very clean. The bathroom needed a lot of loving and renovations. Not sure why theres such a price gap between this Holiday Inn Express and the one a few miles away. Alas, nice hotel.

2021-09-27The rooms are comfortable enough. The beds and pillows are nice and the temperature is nicely adjustable. Blackout shades were very useful because I worked nights and slept during the day. The bathroom cleanliness was not fantastic: the floor needed cleaning and the overflow drain in the sink was nasty. The pool and grilling area were very nice. The breakfast was very disappointing: presweetened, instant oatmeal, scrambled eggs that tasted prefrozen or instant, subpar-tasting sausage and bacon, not good apples and overripe bananas. The laundry facilities were old and there werent enough washers and dryers. Finally, there was very little to walk to from there. In the searing heat even a 10 minute walk was untenable, and that was the closest walk to most places.

2021-11-273 night stay. No heat in the room, staff said sometimes the heaters just don’t work. Every night the room temp dipped to the low 60F mark, even with the room fan on “high.”The -in room phone did not work- staff said they had no phones to switch out, so there was no wake-up call service and no ability to call the desk or call out.We were offered to switch rooms on our last night but declined because we did not want to repack (a major inconvenience) and move to a first floor room. We preferred the third floor. There was no room service, so we had to ask for fresh towels.. Staff said room service is only offered upon request because of COVID safety protocols.Good location but there are other hotels in the area and I’m willing to bet their heaters and in-room phones work.
