The staff (toby) was very nice and others I encountered were also friendly. The rooms do need to be updated. Furniture was old and outdated. Breakfast needs improvement. Eggs, sausages were cold and cinnamon rolls were somewhat hard and not hot even though they were under heat lamps. Only enjoyed the coffee. However the staff was great!
The hotel staff were friendly, accommodating, helpful, and knowledgeable. Breakfast was average. The bed was horrible - the mattress was very unstable, and I could hear/feel the springs moving around. It was just not a comfortable nights sleep. The shower was great and the room was clean. Really the only complaint I have is that awful bed.
Very clean and quiet hotel. The breakfast was very good and a bit crowded. The hotel has not updated COVID guidelines, but I am sure this is changing or has changed. The breakfast was very busy, but I hope they do not get rid of it. Some guidelines or limited use by all guests might be needed. The front desk staff was very efficient and courteous.
I had high hopes when I booked this stay. I was just coming off a less than pleasant experience with another chain and so when I checked in, I was pleased with what I saw. The room we stayed in was very spacious, extremely clean and the bed was super comfortable. Unfortunately that is where the good news stops. As my husband got out of the shower that night, he realized there werent any towels and had to dry off with a wash rag. I tried calling the front desk to get more towels delivered to the room, but the phone didnt work. Once I got to the front desk, the attendant told me that they were out and there was a long waitlist to get towels so I said forget it and got beach towels out of my truck to use that night/morning.The room had sheer curtains and the blackout drapes didnt close, so we didnt have the privacy we expected, there were headlights streaming into our room all night long and we were facing east so we had sunrise streaming into the room first thing in the morning as well. The TV didnt work and the breakfast choices were limited. For example, there was oatmeal, but no toppings. No pancakes, cereal or milk.Overall, had high hopes but ended up super disappointed.
The carpet in the room and hallways needs to be replaced it’s lifting up and it has a smell to it. The room was clean upon entering however there was a stuffy smell to it. They cleaned the room once during our entire stay. They didn’t have too many great options for breakfast they had been running out of muffins since we arrived and by the end of the stay there was nothing to replace it, the eggs were cold after they had just been brought out from the kitchen. The pool unfortunately was closed and had not been cleaned in awhile making it an unpleasant view from the room. Overall it was fine.
Great hotel to stay at. Karina at the front desk was so nice and helpful. I had an issue with the pull out couch and she quickly fixed the problem. She needs a raise! The hotel was clean. Breakfast was delicious and full at all times. We will definitely come back if we are ever in town again.

My family, which included 4 adults and 2 children just recently stayed at this hotel while on vacation. I booked our reservations through the IHG app a little over a month in advanced. The reservation was for a double queen suite, for 3 nights. I received an email confirmation for our stay after booking. We arrived at the hotel the day of our stay at approximately 6:30pm only to find out that they had over booked the hotel. I was told that it was most likely done through a 3rd party site. I informed the clerk that I had booked my reservations directly with IHG, which you would think that would give you some kind of guarantee, well I found out the hard way. We ended up cramming all of us into 1 double queen room. I was told a manager would contact me, which never happened. I was also told they would try to get us in a bigger room, which never happened. I never received a discount or and compensation for our stay, which we stuck it out for the 3 nights. Also the pool was disgusting. This is coming from an IHG member for many years and have never had a bad experience till now and this was a huge disappointment since this was our first family vacation.
This hotel is very dirty and they do not take measure to try and disinfect anything. First they had a pretty empty hotel but they decided to stick me in a room right next to some really loud guy group. Then in the room I had 1 towel and no coffee. It’s like they stuck me in a room that wasn’t ready. Then their breakfast was gross. I went down early around 7:30. The eggs were super burnt, the bacon wasn’t even edible because it was so burnt. Then to top it all off they were allowing homeless people in the lobby with no masks on to get coffee and breakfast. I get it it’s a nice gesture but I am paying for the hotel I’m staying at give them the food elsewhere or donate the left over food to a shelter. The staff was also never down at the front for check out or anything. I will never be staying here again.
We had a great stay. We loved our room was very spacious and comfortable. The location was really convenient to downtown San Antonio with many restaurants and stores nearby. The only downside was the pool was not open and we weren’t informed before our stay which was really disappointing for my family.
Do not recommend to stay here the place is DIRTY!! It looks updated from the outside but the inside is not clean or updated. When we arrived the room that was given to us the first time was not clean beds were unmade just dirty. I go to the front desk and the guy was courteous and said did you have towels in that room if there was I would suggest you get them because were are short on towels I went back to the first room to get the one towel that was in there. The second room was better but still not as clean as it should have been. We were exhausted we dealt with it. I wanted to say something to the manager when we check out but NO ONE was at the front desk we left the keys on a basket they placed on the desk. I will not stay here again and DO NOT recommend to stay.
Overall, the place and staff was extremely nice. Only two things I wasn’t thrilled about were:1. only one bath towel for two people. My husband had to use the bath mat mat to dry off after showering. 2. A/c in our first room wouldn’t work properly. The front desk staff was amazing and let us move to another room. All in all, it was nice, but could have used some extra stuff.
Please don’t stay at this place. If I could give no star at all, I would. We stayed one night on Saturday and it was probably the worst experience I’ve ever had in a hotel. 1st of all me and my boyfriend were checked into a room that smell so horribly it was almost like there was a dead body in there. The lady at the front was able to give us another room but when we got there the TV didn’t work and we had no towels. We asked for towels but the lady in the front said that she was the only employee working at this location and that there were not any towels available anymore for this hotel. To top everything off ... we spent the night hearing people screaming in the hallways. Please save your money and don’t stay at the tower of terror of the Holiday Inns.
Room and hotel was clean. Breakfast was, for the most part,, good each day with the exception the pancake machine was not in use. House keepers only came to our room 1 day to clean, we were there 4. We had to use a sleeper sofa. One of the legs were broke, the bed was extremely uncomfortable, thin and uneven. We also had to ask for bedding for the sleeper sofa. There was also fire alarm that went off every night almost midnight, only for about 3 beeps, but enough to scare everyone!
No clean towels, 5 people in my family and we were given 3 regular towels and several HAND towels and expected to dry off with those because they had no clean towels due to being fully booked. Our room we originally reserved was not available upon arrival due to a leak, although I strongly believe it was given to another guest and we were put in a much smaller room and given a roll away bed that barely fit in our room. Husband and son were too tall for the regular sized beds and we were told there was nothing else that could be done besides go to a different hotel. The price was dropped because of the mishap but still not worth the ordeal we were put through. Staff was never at the desk to assist and never answered the phone. Hotel had 4 floors and only 1 elevator so it made coming and going super slow. Due to COVID the breakfast options were bare. The room wasnt super clean. They didnt service our room the entire stay and the response to why is because they only service it every 3 days. Thats probably why there werent any clean towels in the entire hotel! Our trash was never taken out because of them not servicing the room. Nothing but excuses about the issues and no resolution. Bathtub drained slow, making bath time longer than should have been and toilet didnt flush properly. If we had never stayed at a Holuday Inn Express before, this would have made us never want to stay at another one ever again. Worst hotel stay we have EVER had. The only good thing about it was the location. We will NEVER stay at this location again. Very poorly managed.
Nice, newer appearing property. My room was clean, comfortable and fresh appearing. There is large-scale construction directly in front of the propertys entrance and one must be on the look out for workmen and heavy equipment in the road leading to the parking lot. Great value and comfortable bedding. Friendly reception and easy check-out. My only disappointment was being told that their was no coffee available in the lobby/breakfast area...this around 8 AM.
I last stayed here a year ago and had been avoiding it due to my previous experiences as I stay in hotels weekly. I do not have a single issue; everything was fantastic - event the limited breakfast has more choices than any hotel I’ve stayed at the past several months in Texas. They staff were awesome, the nice young lady that helped me to check out and arranging for a late check out was also awesome, I wish I could have gotten her name. As I was reading through reviews I noticed the previous office manager is now the General Manager, and it shows based on my experience - as a business traveler this was excellent, and I see no reason it would not do well for the family either.
Do not stay here longer. When you check in they day they lock you your rate in however after you check out you find out that your rate change each night you stay here, when the manager says she will look into it and that she will get back with you she never does, then she says that the lock sheet rate is missing, then she just gives you excuses and excuses as why her manger has not approved your refund and that she is working on it. After calling her and leaving her voicemails to follow up with my refund she does not answer or never returns any phone calls. it has been 3 months since this happened after staying in this hotel for over weeks three rooms total. each rooms rate fluctuated each night despite I singed in a rate sheet for all three rooms (they claim that this sheet was lost).
This location has always had a great staff willing to help and ensure a fantastic stay. The rooms are very clean and there are an abundance of precautions taken for your well being and safety, given our current climate. I highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for a comfortable stay that is close to the river walk but not too close to the hustle and bustle of downtown.
Dirty toilet paper on floor in bathroom. Dirty hotel overall. During covid mind you ...I left after one night. They could care less and still screwed up the billing. Tried to talk to manager but she refused to come to desk or even phone later. Corporate called and this location ignored them as well.Fire half the staff here here and start over.
We booked three rooms through the reservation center well in advance to our stay and the day we were to arrive, a mere 3 hours before check in, the manager calls me that they are no longer going to honor the predetermined rate. The price went from $99 a night to $249 a night! Completely unreasonable and horrible business practices. I do not recommend this hotel unless you have unlimited funds and do not care about day of price increases!
I stayed at this hotel and had a very difficult time sleeping. The AC unit was blowing a foul smell and every time the compressor would start it would wake us up. We finally decided to leave the hotel at 6 am out of frustration. We also had an issue getting the channel signal on the television. When I went to call the front desk, the phone cord kept coming out of the phone as it was broken. While holding it in, I call the front desk numerous time and phone just kept on ringing. Out of frustration, I used my cell phone and call the hotel. I explained the issue I had and was not offered a room. With Covid, they do not have additional rooms available. Bottom line, I would say, look for a hotel that is more on point with their maintenance if you want comfort and functioning amenities. I stayed at a competitor hotel on the next day and really enjoyed a clean, non moldy room with a quiet ac unit and a 50 inch tv with full channel lineup.
Upon arrival we checked in to a room that had drain flies in the bathroom, the bathroom lights worked intermittently. At bed time we folded out the couch for our child and realized there was NO mattress. While this was happening we noticed a discarded pill on the floor. Thank goodness my daughter didn’t find it and eat it. This was the worst holiday inn express experience I have ever had
First of all the staff and management were helpful and courteous, however we ran into several circumstances which marred out extended 14-day stay. The first two nights we noted a distinct sewer odor on our ground floor room. The 1st night it was minor and we got in late and ignored it. The 2nd night it was worse and management did offer to move us but it was after 1AM and we were just too tired. The 3rd night we went with management to the room and the stench was so bad my wife started hurling, we were moved to a 3rd floor room and promised 5000 points for the inconvenience (which I have not seen). For the remainder of the stay, while the room was fine, a visitor on the 4th floor with (4) small children which she could not control kept at least (7) patrons awake for at least 4-5 days with constant jumping off the beds and running around the room. I finally said enough and left for another hotel.
First when we reached there we had problem getting a crib. Eventhough we reserved the crib when we book the room. My husband had to go the neighbor hotel to get the crib and it took like 2 - 3 hours. The mattress was very uncomfortable. The microwave was smelling bad. The most important thing was that the pool was not working at all. We had to go the neighbor hotel pool for swimming. During breakfast they were out of the milk and when I asked the front desk about it. The answer was they cant do anything they dont have it all until the shipment comes.i wanted it for my 2 year old. Their phone was not working at all. My.husband gave it to the front desk and they never came back repaired during out entire stay. So over all worst experience ever. Never going there again.
There was construction going on next door which I realize the hotel has no control over. The problem was that they began pouring concrete and using horns on the trucks at 3 in the morning which of course woke us up. Would have been nice to be located on the side of the hotel NOT facing the construction or given a heads up and an opportunity to change rooms at check in. Also, we had to request towels as the room (which was reserved for two people) only had one set, the television didnt work because there was no remote in the room, there was no phone and the wi-fi wasnt working. When told of this the front desk fixed most issues but told us we had to call the internet company concerning the wi-fi ourselves. Seriously? Then lastly, we were on a schedule on the day we left and were ready to go first thing in the morning and had to wait 45 mins for breakfast. They were running late. And Im indicating a cold breakfast of cereal and a bagel not a hot breakfast. Unbelievable.
Booked room on website with pre-pay discount. When checked in, found out they never charged my card like they said. I based my Christmas finances on the logic that I was supposed to get charged at booking, because thats why I booked so early for the pay in advance discount. There was trash on floor behind the door. I monitored it, and room was cleaned 3X and it was never picked up. Floor in shower was stained and very dirty. Room really needed a deeper clean. Ive stayed at other Holiday Inn locations that have the most comfortable beds you never want to leave. This bed was so firm that I had a back ache the entire trip. Even asked the front desk if there was other more comfortable beds and they said they are all very firm. The employees were very nice, the buffet choices were good. Wont stay at this location again. Wouldnt recommend it to anyone. The hotel next door is much better in all the areas this location lacks. Being a member with much better experiences at other locations, Im very disappointed with my entire trip.
Love this Hotel! The beds and pillows are the most comfortable out of any other Hotels that I have been to.The rooms are so cozy and clean. I usually stay in one certain room every time me and my husband need a weekend away. Fresh coffee day and night in lobby and the breakfast is wonderful always different and fresh, hot and cold. Cant forget about the cold A/C. Staff exceptionally pleasant.
Upon entrance, I noticed signs for masks and how the staff at the desk were taking precautions which is nice to see. I understand a lot of the amenities weren’t available due to the circumstances but some would’ve have been nice to have, like coffee. It’s not important at all just one of those comforting things I suppose. I get to my room and notice there is still trash in the bins, the floor was dirty and not vacuumed, the beds were made but the thought then was were the sheets changed. I did call the front desk for some extra towels and other items the following day and someone brought them up to my room which I greatly appreciated as I was with someone I couldn’t leave at the time. The stay was fine and the hotel was fine I just disliked the cleanliness of the room for the most part.
The front desk staff goes over and above to make your experience pleasant! The hotel is clean . The beds are comfortable. I was first assigned an adjoining room. My neighbor was speaking very loudly and I could hear it through the door. The front desk staff immediately moved me to a quiet room. The breakfast has become disappointing. The quality of the scrambled eggs and sausage is not great.
It seemed like the staff was nice, but in the time of Covid, I would expect a better level of cleaning.I found drink rings on our end table. Dust on all of the lamps and picture frames. Soap scum in the soap alcove and a room key under the edge of the bed. All of these things are really no big deal. But Ive stayed in several hotels this summer and most have bagged the tv remote and made sure everything was sparkling. After seeing all of that I really did not feel like our room had been sanitized.
When I first checked in I asked about a late check out, I’m a gold member so I get late check out. The male receptionist at the main desk said we don’t usually do late check out, but we can do noon. I asked for one pm check out and he said I suppose we can do that but no later. Other than him, the rest of the staff is very nice and accommodating. The room is very modest but decently clean. A random hair here and there in the bathroom and little refrigerator, but I think thats is normal. Breakfast choices are very light but that is because of COVID-19. Other than that the stay has been pleasant.
We checked in late Saturday night after a long day at Seaworld. Was not told of breakfast times or checkout time. The shower had no soap in the dispenser, there was no ice bucket and the nightstand drawer hangs half way open so you bump it in the night. There is no phone in the room to be able to call the front desk. When I checked out the clerk was busy texting and looked up only to tell me to toss my key in the bin. Then says oh do you want an email receipt. A day later still no receipt. I addressed the issues with the room and she basically told me it was my fault because I did not tell them at 1130 pm the night before...except there was no phone in room to call front desk. No apology...not even a thanks for staying. The desk clerk obviously did not care The only positive thing was room was clean.
Room was ok, no towels, bed was very stiff to sleep on. The sofa couch was broken and ripped up, could not see that until we opened it apart. We got ready to go to the pool just to walk down to a closed, dirty pool. Breakfast was ehh did not taste fresh. Area is sketchy lots of homeless people hanging out, def did not familiar with the good/bad areas of San Antonio but will never stay here again.
I stay here once a month just to relax! Wonderful Customer service, clean beds , enjoy my stay every month, I will keep coming back!!Only thing I would change would be the brown bag breakfast, there needs to be a better selection and need to keep Milk and orange juice in stock.
This property was my go to in the before times, but now its in the penalty box for me for at least six months. The AC/Heater was broken, there were used toiletries in the bathroom, the soap dispenser was empty, there was trash in the rooms trashcan, and the laminate was peeling off of the furniture. On the upside, the staff was very friendly and I felt like they really were personally welcoming, and not just earning a paycheck.
I stayed for work so I wasnt in the hotel for long. And I acknowledge that there have been adjustments due to COVID. However the overall cleanliness has declined, visible debris on carpet in hallways and unkept coffee station. Issues with double booked room and wifi were also unexpected issues to deal with.
Very very dirty. For a Holiday Inn with the reviews it had, I expected it to be atleast clean and safe. We showed up at 10 pm and were tired. Went to lock the door and that was broke. Noticed when we woke up that the bed had pee stains, meaning it probably wasnt washed. I wanted to be sick. Went to take a shower and I dont think that shower had ever been clean during the life of the hotel. They gave us 1 towel set when we set up 2 adults 1 child. Dont except much about appearance and age of hotel just that it should atleast be clean. Especially during a pandemic.Front desk people were nice.
Stayed here during the freeze, Feb 2021.Rooms were ok. Nothing to rave about, beds were firm, linen and pillows were amazing.Desk was broken in my room, had no tv remote(cant operate the tv without one) and had to ask the front desk multiple times for one.Prices were higher on a Tuesday night than the following weekend by almost $40, seems like price gouging during an emergency. They have no vending machines at the hotel.Wi-Fi barely worksNo blow dryer or wash rags in the bathroom.Got locked out of my room twice because the card reader was broken.Water pressure was very low.Only great thing was they had heat and power, but that wasnt really something they controlled.
The staff were really friendly and the rooms were nice. The breakfast was lacking. They only cleaned my room one time in 4 days. When it did get cleaned, they didn’t leave enough towels and no mat. The hand sanitizer station by the elevator was either broken or empty. I said something twice and still nothing was done. The breakfast looked like an afterthought. According to the menu, they offered hot breakfast more than was given. It came in a bag, three days out of the four.
The check in was fast and staff friendly. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. The only problem we encountered was at 5:00 am when my husband started his shower he only had lukewarm water. So he didn’t shower before his imaging he was going in for. I slept in and was going to check if water was hot by 8:00 am and was still only lukewarm. I went for it anyway but was glad we weren’t coming in after hard dirty day at work expecting a nice long hot shower. I’m sure who ever might have was in for a rude awakening. We didn’t take the time then to report it to staff.
The hotel looks brand new, extremely clean and no smell. Lobby is pleasant when eating breakfast which included decent spread but pancake machine wasnt working and hot items as usual didnt have much for a non meat eater but still quite a decent breakfast. Room was spacious and beds were nice but I had an a/c issue in my room. It was on but the room was significantly humider than the lobby and actually got me sick for the night. We were moved to another room and didnt experience that issue. Customer service and front desk were absolutely incredible.
I was actually surprised about this hotel. The staff was amazing. The front desk workers and house keeping were so friendly and understanding. I never once felt like a bother or inconvenience when I spoke with them. The management on the other hand were not so friendly or welcoming. Whenever I spoke with them I did not feel comfortable or that they genuinely cared about the guest. Im not sure why they were rude towards myself and other guest. Hopefully something changes.
Did not have a great experience with night staff on the ladt night of my stay. Filed complaints but dont feel management took it very serious. Was not able to sleep the last night cause someone accidentally set off fire alarm, staff was rude when we asked questions, staff did not know how to get elevator working again. My daughter had to wait in lobby for 2 hours and finally struggled to get upstairs to top floor due to back and knee problems.. Shower had black long hair that did not belong to any of us and drawers on dresser get opening, had to push close way to often. Management was not helpful, could only offer points to go towards future stays.
This is the second time staying at this hotel and both times were fantastic. Rooms are a good size and the beds are comfortable. The breakfast is one of the best Ive seen at a hotel (my husband and I usually go to a restaurant for this reason), but 3 of the 4 days we ate at the hotel because the breakfast was so complete and diverse. There was a different omelet type each day with different meat choices also. All was VERY good.
Waiting to check in from 2:30 pm current time is 4:45 pmOnly one maid came to work. I was told by Lisa Duran that I would receive a call once the room was ready and a call was never given. Lisa left work without informing Cornea the incoming person of the wait. The manager Nicole Lopez was aware of these issues and didn’t come in to help solve them. She was called again and refuse to answer her phone! At that time Corina apologized to me and went to see if the room was close to being ready. 4:15 while still attempting to handle the front counter. During a holiday weekend, all staff should have been called into work. Expecting the holiday rush!Corina solely handle the the issue that Nicole should have. As a GM, she is always on duty if needed or the acting manager. Which there wasn’t one.I am very likely not staying at this establishment for a while and will let me friend and family know as well if a response is not given. I am very disappointed in the way this way handle by your company.
There were no towels in my hotel room and I had to go up to the desk and ask for them. The air unit in my room was extremely loud, dripping all over carpet and did not work properly. When leaving in the morning at 6am, there was no coffee made or prepared and staff was asleep on a lobby chair.
I stayed at this hotel for four nights. Overall cleanliness was good. Housekeeping timing was inconsistent. We slept in and got a late start one day (were leaving hotel around 10:30) when they stopped by and we told them we would be out in about five minutes. They were cleaning the room across from ours at the time. When we returned around 3 PM, our room had not been cleaned. They seemed to show up at a different time each day.The outdoor pool was clean and enjoyable. Not a lot of outside seating. The pool is somewhat small, so it could be crowded on a busy weekend, but we had it to ourselves one afternoon. There is a hot tub.The continental breakfast was the best part of our stay. It included cinnamon rolls, a pancake maker, cereal, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, milk, yogurt, juice, pastries, scrambled eggs, cheese omelets, pork sausage, turkey sausage, bacon, biscuits, and sausage gravy. The pancake make was great!!This hotel is about a 15 minute drive from downtown San Antonio. It has a walmart, target, HEB, and several restaurants nearby. The staff were friendly and inviting.
I have stayed in many Holiday Inns and this one is by far one of the worst. The bathroom had hair everywhere (not mine) and I’m not 100% convinced the sheets were clean. The counter tops had not been given a thorough cleaning in a while either, because the corners had a good buildup of dust on them. The beds were like sleeping on cinder blocks, no Splenda for my coffee and the breakfast was lacking in options. Staff was courteous and very polite but I have higher expectations on cleanliness and comfort than this hotel can offer. I will not be back.
Was very busy and fully booked which I understand but had a few issues with the stay here. Booked a week ahead of time. When I arrived they couldnt find my reservation number until I told them I was calling corporate. The room I received was not the same room that I booked . Fire alarms went off in the middle of the night and the fire department had us evacuate. This stay was not on the top 10.
We got there a little late at night and tired to really look at the room until the next day after we woke. I found the floor in need of a vacuuming. The baseboards need cleaning. The toilet paper holders was coming off. The walls were black in some areas. The microwave had other previous guest food splatters. Therefore, I was not to impressed with the cleanest of the room. When checking in the front desk, she told a caller they had no rooms available. But the next day when I tried taking advantage of the free breakfast; I was informed they were out of food. I guess they didn’t plan well for having a full hotel. We needed water to drink and got some the sari sari shop and waited for the front to get back from helping a guest. With the time it took him to help us, he decided to give us the water free? No complaints with the customer service.
The staff was friendly and helpful. I needed directions..sure I could’ve googled it but I asked for help and they helped! I appreciate that! Only thing I disliked was the couple fighting all night both nights in the room next to me. I went down and complained and the staffed I guess handled it because it stopped. I know you can not predict who books with you it just sucks that we experienced while down with a room with children that had to hear it all night! Room was clean, shower stayed hot for 5 people to take long showers! Breakfast was fresh I am just not a fan of what was served due to taking away the buffet! I completely understand I just missed the bacon! We would go back! You can’t help who your neighbors are!
There was multiple pieces of hair in the tub.Things were ripped, lots of garbage around edge of room on floor and in bathroom. Desk was broken, strong smell of mens cologne. Toilet flushed once and not after. Tub did not drain. What looked like hair dye was splattered on wall in bathroom
When I arrived I checked in to a dirty room, I tried to call the front desk but the phone didn’t work. I was given another room that had no towels because there was a “towel shortage” and the water pressure was terrible. Scolding water came out and I had to go buy my own towels. Would not recommend this place to anyone!
The beds were comfortable and it was quiet at night in the hotel. The room itself was clean enough, but the bathroom had visible dirt on the floor and in the tub upon arrival. Breakfast choices were just average and the only fruit option was apples. I did have a concern involving the fact that we arrived back to the hotel after 11pm from being out and the front sliding doors to the hotel were wide open and there was no one at the front desk. Strange to say the least.
This hotel is in a great location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The carpet in the room was frayed and pulling from the tile area...but other than that, the room was nice. The breakfast was grab and go due to the pandemic. A cold kolache and an orange with no way to peel or cut it was a little disappointing. However, no major complaint...I would definitely recommend this hotel!
Due to covid, all of the hotels amenities are closed including hot breakfast. They give you a bagel and muffin in a paper bag. The pool, gym, and cleaning crew are all out during your stay due to covid. Also the tv channels say one thing but play a different station. The front desk rep stated that they have contacted spectrum but they havent been able to come out to perform an update. It was very hard to follow when I had to keep my 4 year old entertained.
Let me start off by saying Lisa at the front desk is an absolute godsend! Very professional and courteous, went above and beyond to help guests out with stuff she didn’t have to help out with. Now the bad . I travel all over the u.s. and go to holiday inns . This one is not the worst, but it’s not the best either. It’s really in need of some serious updating. Mattress was rough, carpet wasn’t very attractive, sofa was worn. I honestly gave 5 stars due to Lisa outstanding performance as an employee. Take care of her, the way she takes care of your customers...
The service, upkeep and overall value have gone way down. My last 3 stays I have noticed bags of trash in the hallways and an inattention to overall cleanliness. My last 2 rooms both had damaged/missing furniture. One was missing a fridge, the other the couch was broken and I couldnt even sit on it. I booked my stay for 5 days and when I got my bill they had upped the rate $20 a night over what I had booked. I have an email confirmation showing my rate. The staff was the least friendly I have encountered at a hotel.
This was a new hotel so everything was clean and nice. The entrance to the hotel took a bit of maneuvering but once we found it, it was not a problem. The area is being built-up so not much lighting on the streets yet. But the property has plenty of light. The hotel was quiet and very clean. The room was very comfortable and with the high ceilings it made the room feel very big. We had two queen beds and there was plenty of room to move around without trampling over anyone else or running into furniture. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was also very nice. A combination of hot and cold options. However, the pancake machine was not working and my 3-yr old really wanted pancakes. But we made-do. I will definitely stay here again.
Nice, clean rooms and hotel overall. One of the better hotel breakfasts with eggs, bacon, sausage, and the automated pancake maker (kids loved that), amongst other things. Only issue was that when we got to our room, it wasnt quite ready but nobody was there for about half an hour to finish up. Thats the only reason I didnt give 5 stars. Only a one night stay but it was a good stay.
Overall my stay was good. The staff were very friendly and tried to assist where they could. My heating and air went out in my room the last night I was there and I was moved into a different room for the remainder of the night which was nice (though I wouldve preferred to stay put obviously). My biggest complaint was the thin walls. I could hear everything the girls in the next room were doing and they were somewhat loud. Also, there was no TV guide in my room and when I asked the front desk for one, none of the channels on the guide matched up with what the actual channels numbers were. Some of the furniture had not been dusted either. But other than some minor details, it was a nice enough stay.
A lot of pluses for this hotel . Its in a great location. Very quiet and relaxing. A nice interior and very bright surroundings. Staff were excellent and attentive. Breakfast area was fantastic and ladies who served breakfast were nice and friendly.Rooms were comfortable as were the beds All was really good.Only one complaint An employee insisted on parking his car all night at the front entrance right at the doors. There were many vacant parking spots all over the parking lot every night when we came in from work. I saw a family with young children struggling with all their bags to offload trying to get around this vehicle. Please ask your staff to park in a better place and to consider the guests who are checking in and out.
The hotel was very clean and the staff took very care of me. Everytime I went to the front desk and asked a question they answered me right away and I asked to change rooms they took care of that right away. I was on the 4th floor and asked for a bottom floor and changed my room right away. Just wish they had a better breakfast at least a toaster.
I reserved three rooms for my family on our Easter trip to San Antonio. I received a friendly welcome and was given three rooms all next to each other. The room I reserved for my parents was handicap accessible, and they were pleased to no end. The shower was large and easy to get in and out of, even for my mom who has difficulty stepping over the ledge. All three rooms were comfortable, clean and modern. They all had a good amount of natural light, which I loved.
Had a very relaxing time at this hotel. A storm took out our power pole at home and needed a place to stay until it could be fixed. Staff was very welcoming and personable. Very comfortable beds, pillows, blankets, room was extremely clean and cozy. Enjoyed the sparkling pool. Breakfast was great. Quiet, peaceful rest for sure. Will be going back soon to stay for a weekend just because of the great time we had there. For the price we highly recommend this hotel.
We encountered a couple of problems at check in, but Lisa made sure everything was taken care of for us. first room that we were given was not ready when we walked in. We were then given another room. The door did not lock in the second room. Lisa then gave us a third room and upgraded us to one of the suites, at no extra cost. Neither key worked for the door. I ended up going back downstairs and the keys were reprogrammed. When we finally entered the room we were surprised by how great it looked and how big it was. The second room (which was not a suite) looked great also. Even with all the problems we had, Lisa was very professional and friendly considering how busy she was at the time of check in with numerous guests. The only problem we saw with the room was a minor one...the restroom should really have a trash can inside it, but no big deal. The only problem in the dining room would be there setup. It seemed like the utensils might be placed in a better location. During our stay, they were located in the corner of the counter, between the oatmeal and hot food. Had to wait for other guests to get there food in order to get utensils, plates and napkins. Other guests were experiencing the same problem.Other than these minor things, the property and the staff were AWESOME! Well definitely stay here again.
I love this hotel! Friendly staff :) Very decent breakfast and it is served at a good time. Rooms are clean and hotel still looks brand new. Comfortable bedding and pillows. Close to plenty of lunch/dinner choices. If you forget anything I can almost guarantee they will have an extra at the hotel for you. They have special rates for government as well which is a plus. Highly recommended.
Ive been staying at this location since last September. My last stay was in February after finishing 14 weeks of Training. Every time I checked in the staff was so friendly. Im back after 3 1/2 months off and working here in San Antonio, TX. The staff is just as friendly if not more!! This group of staff members is awesome. If I ever have a request or issue, they jump into action like super heroes. Thank you to all the Holiday Inn Staff at City Base. You all Rock.!
I never write reviews,...but this incident was so bad I must: Im an extremely loyal Holiday Inn (IHG member). This location was actually fine until I took a shower (or tried too). Abysmal. The water pressure was so low from the nozzle (Ultra low-flow design) .. way worse than the normal restricted flow nozzles nowadays, that I couldnt even stay wet. Next, the water was barely luke-warm (at best). I cranked the shower handle up to Max Heat but the water couldnt even make a cup of tea it was borderline cold (I was in disbelief ... and still am ... that I was shivering while still in the shower under the water) ,....I even tried the sink faucet to verify. the temps but it was exactly the same,... both a shade above room Temp. I can only assume both conditions are from a Hotel Management decision to save costs. Ridiculous. Sorry, but I travel for business and need to refreshed and sharp for my daily meetings. Wont be coming back. Such a shame ... good hotel otherwise. happy & pleasant staff I didnt bother complaining as it was a 1-day stay,...and didnt need a refund or discount (company dime). Also I couldnt risk getting lip service or silly excuses, which would have made me crazy & furious prior to my meetings.
I stayed at this location on a business trip, and the service received from check-in to check-out was excellent. The hotel was clean and quiet, the breakfast was really good/decent. The bed was extremely comfortable and clean, and my overall experience with staff at this location was great. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants and in quick travel distance of the cities sight-seeing activities, if you have an opportunity to take them in. You will not go wrong choosing this place to stay.
Booked this hotel to come swimming while visiting family, the book was disgusting and couldn’t swim there was garbage every where out by the pool stuff laying around, there was no toilet paper holder, no chair in the room, floors had stains, the snack area was empty, didn’t see any vending machines. The Garbage was over flowing in the breakfast areas. Very disappointed
The receptionists were extremely friendly and helpful with logistics, information... Great personalities. Check in and out was easy. No complaints. Access to the motel off Interstate and navigating , entrance to location wasnt as simple as some but have stayed in others that were more challenging to access. Area was secure. All things considered, was a nice stay.
Great place to stay. We were greeted by Erica with amazing kindness and great attitude towards making us feel welcome. You cant train that into a person, she needs to be management. The rooms still have that new hotel smell and are very well designed. Plenty of parking, Pool and Hot tub were great (need a few more places to sit#. I would come here just for the breakfast. Great choices and fresh food. #I would make the serving line have a better flow with plates and utensils at the beginning and not in the middle) Overall I would highly recommend this property for your next stay!
The Holiday Inn hotels are well known for being relatively high quality. The stereotype is one of an experience, commensurate with the higher price you pay for staying here. My experience was not typical of this stereotype, and is thus far the worst experience I have had staying at one.Staff, friendly and courteous. Hotel services looked nice, and there seemed to be plenty of them. The breakfast was decent, but admittedly I have had far better for similar prices. Unfortunately, our first room was absolutely filthy, especially the bathroom (think of previous occupant(s) hair everywhere). The next room we got shuttled into, still had some hair in the bathroom, but more disgusting was the bandaid found on the pullout bed left by someone else. The pool.. our second room was right above the pool. There was a bunch of people there, very loud, drinking alcohol, playing loud music, and causing all kinds of ruckus down there until 9pm. We had to go to bed early, as we had plans for the next day that involved us getting up early. And why the 7am breakfast time on Sunday? Most places start serving it around 5:30am-6am.These issues were addressed to the front desk staff. While courteous, nothing else was done, and we paid full price for our room. I normally do not complain about little nuances, but for a higher quality hotel, this was disappointing.
I had read previous reviews and was expecting a much better experience. When we entered our suite, there were large dried pieces of dirt on the tile floor area. As well as, no bath towels and only 1 wash cloth. I went to front desk and asked for more towels and the attendant simply handed them to me without apologizing for my inconvenience. The tables had sticky spots all over them and the drawers had left over items and candy trash from a previous family in them. There were also what looked like used sheets and blankets rolled up or thrown in the bottom drawer of dresser. If the cleaning staff had just spent 5-10 more mins. on the room, I couldve left a great review. However, the suite itself was nice and large in a quiet area of the city.
Had a good stay with no problems. The room and bed were clean and comfortable. Ive noted that Holiday Inn Express, including this facility, seems to be slowly making new hotels a bit less luxurious. I have no complaints, but the room seemed more crowded than they used to be and the breakfast area and lobby area are getting smaller. I was not pleased with the work tables provided in the room. A table the height of a typical desk was provided that rolled under a table that was too high as a desk. There was insufficient room to fully pull the lower table out from the upper table. Only one desk high table should be provided.
Staff was friendly. Rooms were a comfortable size and over looked the pool Was not noisy as indicated by others. Loved the breakfast options Kids really enjoyed playing in the pool Used the exercise room kinda small but served purpose. Lobby was a nice size which made it great at breakfast
We received a phone call about an hour before check-in from the front desk stating that the room we had booked online through their website was not available. The front desk stated they had another room available with a king bed and sofabed which was fine. Upon arrival and entering the room the first thing we saw was a filthy sitting chair and a critter in the bathroom. It was obvious that the room had not been thoroughly cleaned and Im not sure why the filthy sitting chair was even acceptable to be in the room. We did contact the front desk to let them know and they immediately sent someone to remove the chair and replace it with a nice clean leather chair, however, the filthy chair should not have been in the room to begin with. It looked like it had been there quite some time and no one bothered to remove it. We were told that a manager had checked the room to make sure it was cleaned before we arrived so if this is true, thats even worse that a manager would see this and think it was ok to leave a dirty, filthy sitting chair and a critter on the floor in the bathroom for customers to see. We were very disappointed with this and will not be staying at this hotel in the future.
Horrible.. both beds had blood stains on them when I went to talk to the front office supervisor Nicole Lopes she told me I was acting like a privileged white person.. I also overheard her on a personal phone call saying she did not trust a colored person as a security officer because theyre dirty thieving liars. Not to mention the front desk overnight guy sleeping on duty. This place needs to be investigated as an well mannered individual I do not condone in rascism. The only good experience I had was with Ms.Tee at the front desk she has a wonderful personality and great customer service .
The price was a little high and the spa was out of order while we were there. Those are literally the only two negatives i have for my stay here. The front desk clerk at check in was great and all the other staff we encountered were really friendly. The breakfast is really good with a lot of options, you definitely wont leave hungry. Overall a great experience.
Our stay at this Holiday Inn Express was great! It seemed like a relatively new facility, so as soon as you walk into the building the smell of the hotel is very pleasant. Check in was a smooth quick process. The room was clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The breakfast options are great, too. Holiday Inn Express will be my first choice of hotel from now on when planning another trip!!
The water in the shower could have been hotter! The continental breakfast was not good to me! The pancakes gotta go you cant even cut them they are so rubbery! Lol! But over all a great place. Nice beautiful rooms. Very clean inside and out! Housekeeping staff is amazing! And so is front desk staff! Everyone we interacted with was great! Thank yall for the wonderful stay! Well worth your money here !
First when I arrived the person available asked me to book online. Secondly our room did not habe towels or trash cans. The floor was filthy it had some type ofbwhite residue all over the floor and along the edge of the walls. Lastly, the manager did not even bother to come out and speakbto me when I informed them about the room. I am very disappointed with my stay.
Aside from the walls being a little thin, our overall experience was fantastic. The location was away from the Downtown traffic but close enough to make the drive to all the restaurants and bars. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bathrooms were impressively clean. We utilized the business center with no problems and anything we needed from the staff was available with a smile. I would definitely stay at this location again.
King bed room is large enough for people to do their activities without being on top of the other person. Bed was very comfortable along with the pillows. All staff were very nice and helpful. I had documents that needed printed and was able to print them from the business center with no problems or cost. Location of hotel was nice in relation to local restaurants and stores and only a few miles from TEEX. I highly recommend this hotel.
At first glance the hotel is beautiful however, first room was dirty. Bed sheets never changed, restroom was filthy with hair and urine all over toilet, and leftovers in mini fridge. When contacted front desk, house keeping brought me new key and said HERE! NO manager NO apologies.. second room had Clean sheets but restroom was about same condition as the first. I went and bought my own wipes to clean it myself. Front desk Nite staff was watching inappropriate TV in lobby. Other locations great but this one I would never stay at again. Im sorry but it was a very bad experience for my wife and I.
I only stay for 2 nights (5/28-5/30) and pre-paid/booked online. I was charged another night at the same booked rate I pre-paid online!I already contacted the hotel to reverse and they said they are working on it.After waiting over 40 minutes to check-in and now this, I had an incredibly terrible experience!
Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms and facilities good. Cleanliness good. A bit difficult to navigate to. Bring your own water. $2 a bottle for cheap bottled water. NOT Second Amendment friendly. I fail to understand why some hotel owners/management believe criminals will respect a no gun signs while making criminals out of law abiding licensed firearms carriers if they carry. I will never stay here again or recommend it due to this one reason alone. Don’t be a victim because some manager denies you your right to defend yourself should the unthinkable happen.
The hotel was easy to find and pleasant to stay at. The room had a good amount of space and was clean. The only down fall was variety of hot items over our 3 night stay, every morning was Turkey sausage. Disappointing when breakfast is one of the main reasons we chose to stay at Holiday Inn Express.
The hotel was in a great location. We were greeted immediately by Snow the front desk clerk. She had are keys and everything ready to go. Very friendly. I would stay here again and recommend this hotel to my friends and family. The only down fall was the hot water the first night we were there. It was more lukewarm then hot.
Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast had many selections but like most American hotels and fast food restaurants, servicing size was too big (syrup packet was too much and I used only 1/5) and everything too sweet (I prefer less quantity, healthy food). Service staff was so nice to helping me when I realized that I forgot my cosmetic porch in the airplane.
This property isn’t that old, but it feels tired. Service is lackluster. Breakfast seems lackluster. AC was loud. There was crowds of people in the lobby when we arrived, crowds of smokers outside, and even more when we left the next day. Service was the most disappointing. No mention of status, no welcome amenity mentioned. When we left an item in the room, no offer to get it, just a “well we can give you a key back if you want to go get it.” All around it was a disappointing stay.
A very good value. The TV has a bit of a dark picture, but over all room was excellent. The snack selection was sparse and there were no soft drinks available during my stay. Went across parking to other hotel to get drinks. The hotel is in a great location. Easy to get on and off the interstate, and lots of eating establishments near by.
I have very few words to say about my experience at this location, neither a chance to talk in person with the manager which was not willing to do it, make your judgement.I was very surprised on how this property is going down, I had been there several times and surely that was the very last one.Blood stains on sheets, dirty and stinky pillows, carpets so dirty, not to mention the bathroom. Even when ms. Briana took care changing me into another room, this matter is so concerning and must be shown and addressed for the benefit of the customers. This is a health concern.
Hotel room was great, we had 4 people sharing the room, and the sofa bed was comfortable for sleep as well. Staff there was nice and provided the bedding stuff for the sofa bed. Breakfast was ok, but fair enough given that it was free. Internet was fast. Also, just decent distance to the downtown area and still enjoy significantly lower rate compared to downtown there. So, satisfied with everything!
This is a long review, but I hope people will read it in its entirety. We reserved a queen suite because we needed three sleeping areas for our party. We arrived at the hotel in the late evening. Check-in was quick and easy. When we got up to our room, we found that it was not a suite. I went back down to the front desk and informed the clerk. He looked up the information and found that we did reserve a suite, and had been charged the suite rate. He was very polite, but said there were no suites available that night. He adjusted the rate, and said he would have a roll away bed brought up for us. The bed was brought up, but we were told there were not any blankets available for it. The clerk said if a sheet was not sufficient he would try to figure something out. I told him we needed something more than a sheet, so he went digging around in the supply closet and came out with a mattress cover. As this was the only option available, we made due. As we were making out the bed, we found some French fries from a previous guest on the floor next to the bed side table. There was also an empty Gatorade bottle in the top drawer. On a shelf in the bathroom there was a bottle of finger nail polish and some loose pocket change. This gave the impression that the room had not been cleaned at all. The next morning I spoke with the manager about our first nights experience. She was very apologetic and said she wanted to make it up to us. She discounted our rate by $10 dollars a night, moved us into a suite that had come available, and put 2000 points in our IHG rewards account. She told us she would personally inspect the room before we moved to insure it was perfect for us. She also said she would bring a complete set of linens for the sofa bed. Later that night, when we made out the sofa bed, we found the bag of linens she brought up had no blanket! Just two sheets and a pillow. I went back to the front desk (third time in a 2 night stay) to request a blanket. The clerk was very courteous and a blanket was available. While the staff and management were kind and courteous, I dont think they did enough to make up for a stressful first night at this hotel. I will not stay at or recommend this location in the future.
Most issues are due to covid responses. Breakfast, room cleaning. Services are not given, due to covid, but prices continue to be normal. Just wondering why arent we given Covid prices instead? If services, that are included in the price, are not rendered, then that price should go down much more. Unfortunately, this is happening with all hotels, not just this one.
When I walked in I was greeted right away by Mariah who was very kind and friendly and made my check in process very easy and quick. When I walked into my room I was shocked at how clean and nice it was for the low price I was receiving. At around 11:30 I walked down to get a drink and was very pleased to find the Sundry section fully stocked. The night shift worker Tucker helped me purchase my drink and asked me how my night was. Very friendly and attentive. Before I went to bed i put a Do Not Disturb sign on my door and was very happy not to have any housekeeping knocking on my door in the morning. Very respectful housekeepers and very good at their jobs. I was very pleased with this stay and cannot wait to stay again.
Bad not comfortable felt the springs in the bed! The people in the next room over was very loud playing loud music all through the night! people above us were stomping jumping all over the place heard it all through the night! The drawers that we put our clothes in they kept opening every time we close them!! That was a big head ache!!
Free Parking/Included Parking. Check-In service with front desk staff- pleasant.Room- Nice, clean, quiet. Bathroom- More than 3 towels would be better for 2 adults.Did not utilize complimentary breakfast. As IHG Gold Elite Member, usually extended check out is offered, and if not offered not declined when asked to accommodate. Staff did not ask member status or bother looking up account. After reporting to front desk status of status, they were finally able to accommodate extended check-out.
I stayed on an extended business trip and overall the hotel was great. Friendly staff and well maintained. The only thing I would note is that noise from the hallway was fairly easy to hear inside my room, but since it was not an issue during quiet hours it wouldnt deter me from staying here again.
The hotel is in a great location. We were able to hear the people from other rooms. They really were not loud the walls were very thin. I should not be able to hear conversations from the room next door. It was a bit concerning that after I checked in I was told by a staff member where to park so the security cameras would be able to see my car. He was very specific as to where not to park.
Hotel was nice, rooms clean, comfortable beds. Breakfast decent although they didn’t have any regular milk. I would have given them 5 stars but the customer service was horrible. On their personal phones at the front or no where to be found. Make sure you have the exact amount of cash at check out because they won’t except it.
This is the third time I have stayed at this Holiday Inn Express and it has always been a pleasant experience. They were substantially busier this time than the previous stays but it was still a nice time. It is very convenient to a wide variety of dining options within walking distance and even more in a very short drive.
I do not find any joy in leaving a bad review for the service industry. Just so many things went wrong. Had to wait 20 minutes for someone to show up to check me in. I was not checked in properly so after I was in my room with my family, the room was given away to someone else during the night. I was also charged for a day that I wasn’t there.
It was a good hotel, as almost all Holiday Inn Expresses are. I believe the breakfast cook have been cooked better. Almost all of the pre-made omelets had burnt and hard edges. The sausage was dry and the bacon was just extremely greasy (it could have been drained out as least. I am a Food Technician in the U.S. Army and one thing I always look at is the food of any place that offers it. It could have definitely improved. The Hotel was good as far as appearance I was just there when small renovations were being done. I was in the room closest to the checkout desk and there was a lot of drilling and it was very noisy. Not complaining at all, it was just annoying seeing how I was trying to relax and hang out before my medical procedure. Overall though, it was great.
New Holiday Inn Express Property... Good location. The Hotel is new, but not yet complete. Constuction is not finished in the main lobby area and rooms. My room was good, the drapes however were not very operational and mismatched. The room didnt seem to be as quiet as some of the other HIE properties that I visit. The bathroom was good, lighting was great and the water was hot....very good. The hotel is nice and will be even better once all the construction is complete and a few bugs worked out. Nearby restuarants are easily accessable as well. Overall, good property!
The hotel appears to be newly built. Everything is very nice and new looking. The room is spacious and Im a huge fan of the leather lounger. Office setup is adequate. Microwave has annoying bright lights, like most do, that requires covering. The bed is on the firm side which I like. The bathroom is good and the shower the same. The water temp is too low. Hot is barely above warm, makes for an uncomfortable shower. The room entrance door has a heavy hinge, like most hotels, which leads to door slamming which is tough to deal with when trying to sleep. Also, no door sweeps to keep out ambient light. I can hear my neighbors in both the adjacent room and above me. Not heavily, but a little more than there should be.
Everything would have been perfect had it not been for the staff not fulfilling the one request I asked of them. I called the hotel ahead of time to request my two rooms to be on the same floor for a family trip. I called several times before I checked in to confirm that my request was happening and they reassured me that it would be taken care of. We got there and our rooms were on the first floor and fourth color. Complete opposite of what I requested. The funny thing is that hotels always tell you to book directly with them and you would think that they would give you better quality service but either way I got disappointed just how I do when I
Staff friendly and helpful. Don’t be a victim because some manager denies you your right to defend yourself should the unthinkable happen.I would be happy to reconsider if the ban were only applicable to Open Carry (30.07) signage.
This hotel is supe ghetto. There was so much noise. Little kids banging on the doors late at night. Making noise. Music blasting on the next room. Called front desk to complain. Was told that the children were by themselves, unsupervised and that they could not do anything until an adult showed up. Pool was noisy until late at night. The next day there was towels and other stuff in the pool and littering all over the pool area. Parking lot always had weird people just loitering, smoking and consuming alcohol at al times.
Every staff member that I encountered during my stay was very friendly and helpful. For instance, I arrived for breakfeast a bit earlier than the advertised time one morning and that days setup person was nice enough to unlock the fridge so I could get some milk out to take with me on the road. The fresh fruit was good and plentiful. My room was spotless and in inspection order when I arrived and anytime after I had been out giving them time to service my room. Any time I had the Shhhhh sign on the door I was left alone, which was appreciated over the weekend. The internet connection was excellent, offering both wired and wireless connectivity. I was able to stream mlb network games with only a few moments of lag time, which is pretty much how mlb network is on any connection. It was nice to have a fridge to keep beverages cold and a microwave that nuked frozen veggies without any issues.Very conveniently located near a CRACKER BARREL restaurant, HEB, Walmart, Movie Plexs, etc. Perfect hotel location for an easy stress-free drive to Lackland AFB on the 410 Loop at a constant 70 mph. I would expect to see this hotel on the DoDs preferred hotel list in the near future. Did I mention it was near a CRACKER BARREL? :)
I want to start off by letting everyone know that I delayed posting my review on this hotel for one week after my stay. Reason being that I left this property with mixed feelings about my stay and wanted to be as objective as possible. Read my review for further details.Location: This hotel is approximately 5 minutes from the 410/I-37 interchange and less than 2 minutes off I-37. Its in a very remote location, but very easy to find.Parking lot: Not many people were staying here during my stay most likely because its a new location. There was adequate parking and it was very well lit. I did not see any security guard on the premises like at other Holiday Inn locations. Maybe this will change once they start receiving more guests.Lobby: Room key is needed after hours; sign did not say what time. There is a seating area with tv in the lobby in addition to coffee and etc. It appeared very well maintained.Staff: The person tending to me upon my check in was not very pleasant. She never smiled, did not thank me for being a priority card member and as a matter fact did not say much. The only thing I recall her asking me was, you booked your reservation a short while ago. I have no idea where this question came from since she had already printed out my receipt and asked me to sign the form. However, as I was checking out of the hotel the person tending the front desk was very nice. She greeted me with a smile, thanked me for my stay and wished me a nice day. In my opinion these two encounters cancel themselves out making this category neutral/average.Room: The room was very clean, but I was surprised at the furnishings. Nearly everything in this room is unfinished furnishings with very little color. The only item that stood out to me was the recliner! The recliner was a nice burgundy color with studs all around it. Its a shame that the rest of the room was not as nicely decorated. The bedding was very comfortable, but I was surprised that all four pillows were firm. This is the first Holiday Inn that I have stayed at that did not have two soft and two firm pillows. I do not like firm pillows and had to sleep on the edge of the pillow to get the soft effect. My room was located on the first floor and I found it to be a bit noisy. I could hear ever step taken above me and people speaking in the room next door and above me.Thermostat: Beware of the thermostat! It has pre-settings that will lower and raise the temperature on you. I was not pleased to have the temperature raised from 68 to 72 at 8am or so. This woke me up because I like my room cold and it got a bit too warm for me. I then noticed that youre able to pre-set the settings, which someone had already done, and I was not pleased.Bathroom: Very clean with a sliding door. No pros or cons for this category.Wifi: This location has excellent Wifi service. Strong signal during my entire stay!Pros: Location and Wifi service.Cons: Front desk staff, pillows, thermostat, noise level and room decor.
I thought I was gonna rate this hotel a lot higher. It look very nice and is in an pretty good location. However, our check in was set for 3 p.m and when we arrived at 6 p.m, which was 3 hours later. We were told that our rooms werent ready yet. So we left and shopped for a while. Came back a whole 2 HOURS LATER! And we again were told it would take more time. We waited an extra hour and the clerk finally told us our rooms were ready in 15 minutes. So still we had to wait more. The room although was very nice and big. The bathrooms was very nice and fancy! Except my door wouldnt close for the bathroom. Since I was staying alone and I didnt want to wait another 6-7hours for a room I just had to deal with it. The pool and hot tub were very nice. Although they were also taking long to clean and put fresh towels which is why I didnt get in so much. I didnt like the breakfast at all. The milk was in cartoons like those you used to get in school. And the time was from 7-10. And I went at 7:30 and only the cereal was ready. No pancakes, no egg (it tasted like plastic anyways), and only a few biscuits which ran out fast. Also the table were dirty as if they hadnt been cleaned from the day before. I decided to skip breakfast the next day and just buy my own food somewhere near by. Theres plenty of options close by. I think the main concern for all these problems was the fact they had very little staff members. The rooms were really nice and comfortable btw. I fell asleep fast on those soft new beds.
The location was nice and quiet. It was only a short drive to downtown. When you walk in you could smell how clean it was. The bed was so comfortable. The price was great too. The only down side was their store was mot well stocked. Luckily there are nerby stores. Overall we had a great stay.
Pretty, it still smells like new. Breakfast was good, something for everyone. It was only a 15 min drive to the airport. Even though it’s so close to so many restaurants and shopping centers the hotel is not jammed packed with people. I stayed here for 3 days and no complaints.
We liked the cleanliness and newness of the place. However, our room was not stocked well with towels, and the sink was backed up.Front Desk to be commended: they identified a discount and applied it without my asking. Final bill at departure was almost 20% reduced. Thank you!
The staff at Holiday Inn express, Brooks city base was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. We reserved two rooms at the last minute and they were able to accommodate us. The hotel is on the way to the oilfield and a great place to stop on your way down to kenedy or karnes. I wish the walls between rooms would have been better insulated. I heard no noise from outside the hotel, but a neighbor on the phone in the middle of the night made sleep impossible. Other than that, this is a great hotel.
New Location. Great service at check-in and check-out.Arrived at 9 PM for a one night stay with no reservation. Friendly conversation with host and went to roomRoom was very organized and everything looked new. The walls didnt have any pictures or fancy artwork, but I didnt mind.HBO and big flat screen, king size comfy bed and nice cozy room is all I needed.Rapid checkout was was a breeze, just handed in my room cards at the front desk to another friendly host.Free Breakfast. I was going to go to Cracker Barrel down the street, but the food here looked and tasted great.I would give It a 5 star, but they advertised $133 and I ended up paying $155 plus tax for a total of $182.82 (company paid for it, so Im still happy with this hotel).
I stayed for 6 days. Ill start with the staff, moment I walked in the lady was friendly and fast, each day or night I saw someone different and no matter who it was they all said welcome back each time I entered. At some point I needed a new comforter, got it no problem. I am amazed by the staff they alone deserve 5stars and a raise.Walked into the room and the cleanliness jumped out at me and the room smelled nice. I was on the top floor and had a great view. Lots of room as well, I mean it literally felt like a second home to me I was so comfortable right away. What amazed me most was the quietness, I didnt hear people roaming the halls being loud or speeding cars rushing by, just quiet. They do have the rooms with the joining doors but they are locked I didnt hear anyone until my last day.I see people taking away stars for breakfast but I dont think they realize this isnt Dennys or IHOP this is a hotel, they specialize in comfort not breakfast, the breakfast is just a bonus dont expect 5 star meals at a hotel and even considering the breakfast was decent from what I heard I myself just ate the cinnabuns a few mornings..my only compliant would be to have just a litter hotter water because I do love super hot showers. Speaking of the bathrooms they were stocked with towels of different sizes and lotion, shampoo etc...spacious and if you needed anything such as a razor, extra toothbrush or even shaving cream you can ask for it. The bed had lots of pillows and was pretty comfy for me but I feel others would disagree but doesnt take away from the quality.Everything is nearby from walmart, Target, ice cream stores, restaurants (Applebees, 54th Street etc...) Movies not far either, I actually hardly left the area most of the time because everything was right there. I only left when needing to meet up with people or going to an event which by the way downtown isnt too far.Returning at night seemed safe as well, I noticed a good amount of People were either oil workers or maybe some sort of construction workers, basically meaning they got in around 8 and went straight to bed which would explain the quietness. They have a hot tub and pool but I never went so cant comment on it, the elevator is a little slow, but I prefer the stairs because I like to burn calories. I with they would drop the rates just a little. Definitely staying again.
Its a brand new hotel, however they sure did not build it correctly. Walls are paper thin, you can hear people talking in next room. Heard moaning and groaning in middle of night behind wall where my bed headboard is. Heard them arguing in morning, every word. Not a good experience at all. I would not recommend to anyone. Go elsewhere.
My family and I we have a really good experience with our staying at this hotel it’s not to far from San Antonio downtown 10 to 15 minutes depending on the time and the traffic, the rooms are clean we really enjoy the beds they are comfy, the room and bathroom clean and the employees where very amiable and helpful I will recommend this hotel to any one.
Me and my wife went to San Antonio to enjoy the weekend we stayed holiday inn and did not know how far it was from River walk and market square. when we arrived it was very clean and organized rooms were clean and we enjoyed are stay very much. it was only about 10 minutes away for down town very close and surrounded by many convenient stores and a wall-mart right around the corner very clean.
Fairly new facility - easy to get to and close to where our consultation job was. Shopping and eating all around that area. The hotel is clean, the staff is very accommodating and friendly, and the room was well-equipped and nice. Really no complaints at all. Good value.
This was one of the most frustrating and distasteful experiences of any hotel stay we have endured.. We had called the night before to conform a couple items, and everything appeared fine. At the night of check-in, we got there a little late due to some travel delays from South Padre, about 19:30. After checking in and about to go to our room, we were presented a note that after reading indicted that the hotel would be without water after 07:00 the next morning. My wife and I were on a quick vacation and had intended to sleep in the next morning. We tried to have the manager and or owner contacted. Eventually the assistant manger was found. Basically, they said there was nothing that could be done and we would either have to deal with it or find a new hotel. We choose the later, even though it was the last thing we wanted after traveling all day. Who in their right mind schedules a hotel to have no water at 7:00 in the morning. (This was not due to some city requirement) just when they chose to schedule. Please avoid this hotel at all cost,
I love Holiday Inn Express but this is by far the worst location I’ve ever stayed. Dirty sheets, hair everywhere, hotel ran out of face towels, dirty floors, hair in the microwave, microwave was burning when trying to reheat food, ironing board had stains, phone line didn’t work (couldn’t call front desk), breakfast in a bag was disgusting.
You get what you pay for. The mattresses, in my opinion, are the weak point in this hotel. If this one thing was changed it would be a much better stay. The hotel USAA pretty clean and I didnt notice any mechanical problems. The breakfast is free, but other hotels provide more choices.
The room was nice but checking in was horrible. Arrived 1 hour after their stated and posted 3pm check-in time expecting to waltz right into my room, only to be told they didnt have any available rooms because they were still being serviced. Everyone that walked in after me was told the same thing. Waited in a dirty lobby area for another hour with food still on tables and some thrown all over the floor in the breakfast area. You would think that knowing a huge concert was in town for 3 days that they would have had extra staff come in. Reception was being run by 1 person and no management on site. Maybe I could understand being treated like this if the room was $50/night but for almost $200/night I expected better!
We stayed here for 1 night as a stopover for a road trip. Room was very clean. Bed comfort was ok; I fell asleep no problem but then woke up with some back discomfort. The hotel location was ideal. It was on a main road and located close to the highway. There were restaurant and stores nearby, so we could easily get anything we needed. Overall Id recommend staying here.
The hotel is relatively new and smelled new too. The staff was friendly and efficient and greeted us with utmost courtesy. The room was very nice, with comfortable bed, plenty of pillows and nice bedding. The complimentary breakfast was very nice also. Overall this is a nice place to stay with more than reasonable prices. I will stay here again on my next trip to San Antonio. It is also conveniently located with plenty of restaurants nearby and also only a short drive to downtown. Parking lot is well lit with plenty of parking available.
The Front Desk Clerk Lisa did an excellent Job accommodating us when I arrived. She gave us extra blankets when I ask since the Bed we went to sleep inwas not a comfortable bed. I had to go to Wal-Mart and buy an Air Mattress to sleep on the Floor with my wife and child. The room was 406. The springs on that mattress made my wife and I uncomfortable. In addition, we had to be quite since the wall were paper thin. We could hear other conversation from our neighboring adjoining rooms which was king of embarrassing and funny at times. As a platinum member, I could not get an upgrade since the management said the rooms in the facility were full.
I was a little disappointed in the Service. The Hotel elevator was shut down for over 8 hours. Since I left the Hotel shortly after 9am to attend a funeral, burial, repass, I was very shocked when I arrived back at around 5p, very exhausted, to learn that the elevator would be out for 2 more hours. I had to climb to flights of stairs, for the 2nd time that day, since I was on the 3rd Floor. The breakfast food was not all that good, but ok. They never found any jelly for my bread all 3 days I was there.I reserved a Suite. Very disappointed to find out how much more money I paid for a couch. That was the only difference from the regular room. Will not do that again.
My husband and I unexpectedly had to check in late that night due to a personal issue. The check in process and room were great but we received poor service from the front desk when we received several calls at 3:00am that someone was looking for us. The front desk let them know we were staying there but thankfully they would not be able to see us. At least we were protected in that sense. From my understanding, it’s pretty standard that it’s the hotel’s policy to keep their guests information and stay confidential. I was very disappointed to receive a call from the front desk basically confirming in front of the person that we were staying there. Maybe the front desk clerk was new, tired, I don’t know, but the confidentiality of their guests stay should be a top priority. You never know what the situation is or the intention of the person asking for information.
The room was very clean and comfortable, had plenty of lenses and loved the pliows. The front desk was very friendly and helpful and the person who was working the dining room was very kind and professional, we would surely recommend this hotel to all our family and friends. Once again thank you for having a very professional staff

2022-01-10Exactly what youd expect from a Holiday Inn Express. My room was HUGE and I enjoyed the extra seating and small kitchenette area. Location was on the edge of San Antonio so I experienced new sights and foods. Breakfast was as expected - muffins, fruit, coffee, juices, cereal, yogurt, etc. Bathroom was clean and well kept. I would come back again.

2022-03-18Positive: The room was clean and spacious. It was conveniently located right behind Walmart and Sam¿s. There were also plenty of restaurants around. Everyone in my family absolutely loved the breakfast. Negative: The pull out bed needs a new mattress. You can see and feel the springs and it was a dingy yellow.

2022-04-27I was surprised to learn that HI does not offer water bottles anymore, nor water bottles in the room. Specially if we are Gold Elite members.I went to the front desk and requested one. The answer I got was, we don´t have or offer them anymore because guests take them. Also have to say that the quality of breakfast options was not good. Specially when you stay more than 2 nights.

2022-04-27Robert at the front desk went over and above checking in my wife & elderly MIL. Efficiently and quickly check-in, found a handicap accessible room, and even acted as a bellhop and helped out with the luggage! Great personality, great initiative, and an excellent representative of your hotel.

Negative: It was the little things that I didnt like but no need to say because we had an awesome experience and the hotel was so clean, the staff were very professional in any area we walked around and the pool was clean. Great location

2022-04-22I have stayed at this location since it opened. Good location and the hotel has a very good atmosphere. I usually drive through for government inspections and this stay is the first time my government rate was not honored. Disappointed.

2022-03-14Before you go here please check the reviews, beware maid comes into the room at night and steals your stuff. Hotel is a little outdated, but decent. Hotel is located in a bad area where there has been many kidnappers and sketchy people. PLEASE DONT GO HERE I PROMISE IM NOT BEING DRAMATIC!! there is people with cigarettes and alcohol even know it says “no smoking and alcohol.” No cap, some weird guy broke into my friends hotel room there and tried to physically assault her.

2021-10-27This hotel was absolutely wonderful. It was very clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The parking lot was well lit and I liked that, after a certain time, the front doors were locked and you had to have a key to gain entrance. The breakfast was hot and delicious. Our room was fantastic and the bed was very comfortable! Would definitely recommend this hotel!
