Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Antonio-Dtwn Market Area, an IHG Hotel in San Antonio

Location on the map
San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, US
Positive: It was easily accessible from the interstate. Negative: The hotel did not have the room I reserved. They gave it to someone else. I reserved an executive queen suite. It was suppose to have 2 queen beds and a pull out sofa in a separate area. They gave me a room with 2 full size beds.
We got a suite for 2 nights. Not worth the price, the room was dirty, not well maintained. Floors stained and carpet just yuck, bathroom small and needed updating badly. Location is bad because there is 2 outside bars right across the street. Literally out side of our room window which aas on the 1st floor. Music blairing til 2am. Also our room was by the back entrance, door was broken and didnt lock so not a secure location.
Rooms are clean, however very run down, a bunch of missing or broken things in the room. No alarm clocks in the room, power strip was removed from the bedside, towel bar/rack is missing in bathroom, toilet paper holder falling out of wall. Not a great experience for what they charge per night.
Kudos to the ladies at the front desk the afternoon of March 1,2022, & the early morning of March 2, 2022. Both of them went above & beyond their jobs to help us with all that we asked & more. We didnt have breakfast, so cannot comment. Im hoping management will acknowledge these two individuals.
I’ve stayed in a ton of Holiday Inn’s and this one was my least favorite. The lady at the front was super nice but my stay started with finding out she checked the wrong guest in under my name. It took her awhile to get it fixed and in the mean time a handful of other guests started lining up behind me. Once in our room the smell was bad. Our room smelt like rotten milk. Outside of that the stay was alright I guess you could say.
The staff was very friendly and caring. They explained all the services included and offer to help with anything we needed to make our stay pleasant. Breakfast was good with decent choices mainly to have a light breakfast which was good for us. Bed was comfortable and they offered us additional sheets if we needed more. The room had everything you might need even a microwave and fridge which was very helpful for us since we have a baby and we carried a lot of stuff. Overall, the experience was just great for a low price.
The staff who was there on hand, were ready to go the next mile to achieve customer satisfaction. They are very friendly to our children and made sure to accommodate to our needs. They let us borrow a portable crib to use when we forgot ours and even took it into their own hands to handle a noise complaint when the bar next door was so loud my children couldn’t sleep. Great staff.
This is what happens when you choose a hotel based on the nightly rate. Despite a picture on the website that shows a hot tub full of water, theirs has not worked in forever and is being removed. The lights in the pool area were out making it very dark and creepy at night. Many items in room were broken and run down. I had to clean the A/C filters as soon as we checked in. The outside door at the stairwell was not secure, allowing anyone to bypass the front desk. Maid service is very spotty (one visit in 5 days), and she did not refill the shampoo dispenser even though I pointed it out. We were in a suite-style room. But if you close the bedroom door, the living room gets very warm despite a fan setup that in theory should move some cool air out there. If you are there on a weekend, ask for a room on the end away from the loud bar next door. The breakfast is just ok, only got the signature cinnamon rolls on one day and they have no pancake machine. Had a hard time getting hold of the manager. On the plus side, we DID get a good rate. Location was convenient to the highway and many attractions. They have plenty of baggage carts, which is nice. And we never had trouble getting a parking spot because they issue windshield stickers. Towels and linen were plentiful if you go to the front desk.
We got zero value out of this hotel. It was dirty and run down. Many items in our room was either dusty or broken. It’s in a sketchy area no not very close to attractions. The outdoor bar next door is loud until well after midnight. This was our third disappointing stay at a Holiday Inn Express and we will not book this hotel nor any other in this brand ever again. Thank You to the staff for being helpful and professional. It’s not their fault the hotel is in this run down state.
The room was clean but smelled like dirty carpet.. had to go buy some plug ins and Lysol spray to try and eliminate some of the smell since our stay was 3 nights. A heads up would have been nice as to our room location. We were put in a room with the window to the pool. Those enjoying the could see into our room if our shade was up and the noise from those enjoying the pool was crazy. So, nice and quiet relaxation was extremely limited. Since, the breakfast area/food is self serve- buffet style, it was too open for comfort, I feel the mask should be mandated by the hotel to be worn at least in the food area. Too many people, too many hands, too many germs for comfort right now. So, I just enjoyed my morning coffee no food. The staff was friendly and the hotel lobby was very clean.
A horrible experience. The room was incredibly dirty and filthy. I noticed a thick layer of mud in the sink when I walked into the room. The shower had black mold and mildew on the walls and ceiling. Shower curtain was broken. Despite being a non smoking room there were cigarette burns on the floor. The curtain had been ripped off of the wall. The lights on the desk didn’t work. The blackout shade had holes in it…I could go on and on, easily the nastiest room I’ve ever stayed in.
I booked a suite and I was very disappointed without tax it was over $90 per night, had a view of the parking lot. When I ask them about the hot tub hours I was told the hot tub and been filled in. And then the manager said I was lying when I said that the website had stated hot tub available needless to say I got a little bitHe offered to cancel my credit card charge and I took him up on it. This is not close to anything, and I dont think its very elegant at all and not worth 90 bucks a night.
Pulling up to the hotel the landscaping needs a major overall. Looks over grown and desolate. When we first entered the lobby it was hot and the front desk looked run down. At this point we should have turned around. The check in process was smooth. Once we got our key card we went to our room. The room size is decent and the suite style is nice for families. The room looked cleaned, but smelled musty. The room colors, carpet and pattern made the room look old and dingy. In the bed room the wiring was exposed on more than one lighting fixture and the lighting was again a dated yellow glow. The window was open which is when we discovered the lock was broken. At this point I wanted to get our money back and go to another hotel, but my husband was worried we wouldnt find an opening. There is also a bar across the street which plays music a couple of nights a week so it was very noisy. In the bathroom there was water spots on the ceiling. The tub had lots of discoloration and the corners were not cleaned. The towels were thin and we had to keep asking for more because they only came clean once during a week stay. I had to ask for extra linen and the sofa bed was thin and very uncomfortable.
Not the most updated hotel but it met the need. Just an overnight stay. No bugs. Clean. Room was a little humid and the bathroom needs updating (paint chipping off shower tub). Weird bathroom set up. Basically have to come out of the restroom to brush teeth and wash hands. I would have preferred it to be in the bathroom.
Upon walking in to the lobby it was HOT and stuffy. I waited about 29 minutes to check in and was sweaty by the time I finished. At first glance, Walking in to the room it looked great. But at night it was hot and hard to get comfortable. We put the AC to the mid 60’s at one point and it was not anywhere close. The restroom was HORRIBLE. You could see that the curtain rod was broken from the wall at one time and was badly patched. The shower curtain was town and in pieces, and wouldn’t stay up. It would fall and only cover the center of the rod leaving water to fall all over the floor. Also mold patches in the ceiling. Our room happened to be at the end of the hallway, where 2 bars were right outside and both played music LOUDLY until 2am. The beds & pillows were soft and comfortable , so that was a plus. The Keurig was not cleared out. It seemed the visitors before me had emptied coffee grounds into the water filter and it wasn’t ever cleaned out. Which leads me to think that house keeping didn’t & doesn’t clean these machines out- ever!
The part of town was a little less desirable, the physical building is not as nice, the staff and owner however were fantastic, they accommodated us having a birthday party for our daughter in the lobby, really great people…so, pros and cons, but overall I will probably try to stay somewhere else next time I’m in San Antonio.
Going to give two because 1. Grass and shrubs not cut making place look unattended 2. Only one guest services person so wait to check in was long . She was nice and friendly and doing her best but should have had two people. 3. Ice machines were all out of service this day. 4. Key card machine down this day so sometimes key worked sometimes it did not. NOW room was clean and neat. It appears they have done some cosmetic touch ups recently. Room set up was great. Everyone was friendly.
Positive: The whole bed was ok. I say that because the whole room was so bad that what was close to stadards worth to mention. Negative: The room was dirty. It was not properly cleaned from the previous occupant. When I asked the reception I found no reaction. The air codition was not working properly, the hair drier was not at all. If not the worst one of the worst hotels I have ever been.
Very rundown. Room door does not latch without a lot of effort. Hallways are not air conditioned. Threadbare carpet. Very loud as there is loud music just outside the room’s window from a nearby establishment. Also, the hotel and room are not very clean. The floors feel dirty and grimy. Not an a good example of pride in ownership
The rooms are set nice and pretty spacious. You have a separate bedroom area from the sofa bed. The TVs are nice size. I thought the breakfast was suitable due to the pandemic now,no food is out in the open like that. Only bad experience I had was they let the guest with 2 workers trucks take up 12 spaces and the guy working the front desk area acted like he didnt really care at all. Guests had to park on the side of the road cuz the parking lot Isnt that big.
Tejas greeted us immediately upon arrival. Although our room was not ready, he offered a comparable room. We did not accept because we needed the disabled accessibility room and were willing to wait the 20 minutes. He even went upstairs himself to make sure it was ready quickly. The beds were comfortable with lots of pillows. The shade In the room did not raise, but we didn’t care. The tub dripped, but it didn’t bother us. Breakfast was adequate, either scrambled eggs or omelette, sausage or bacon, cinnamon rolls, oatmeal, cereal, toast, bagels. Free parking and not very far from downtown. There is also a bread store across the street and HEB down the street if you want to get ready made meals or sandwich fixings for the room. I know some reviews mention loud music from the bar next door, but they were closed the whole time we were there.
I must say the beds were so comfortable!! Had a great nights sleep. The staff was excellent. We did have a few bumps during our 3 night stay. We arrived late, close to midnight, due driving through a typhoon on the way there. Only to find one employee working the front desk and a line of people waiting to check in but he was fast and courteous with everyoneSheets for the sofa bed in our room were not provided but we werent about to stand in line again. We made do with the sheets on the 2 beds. The 2nd night, we lost power to the two bedrooms and the bathroom, just as 6 people were trying to get ready to go out for dinner. The young man was able to fix it after several tries, but by then we were all done taking our showers in the dark. On the last day, lost power again.
This holiday in express was no where near the standard I am accustomed to. As an IHG member,, it was lacking in a lot of areas. For example, the toilet paper holder was coming out of the wall, the lights were broken in the on the desk in the room. The hot tub was broken and didn’t even have water in it. They also didn’t have coffee for breakfast a couple of mornings. Overall I was very disappointed in my stay there, especially since I used point for the stay. Like I said it is not up to the standards of any of the other holiday inn expresses that I usually stay at.
This hotel is ok. Good location for what we wanted. Breakfast was decent. Cozy bed, good TV. Air conditioner was noisy. Noticed the next morning our window was open all night (we had not opened it, and we were on the ground floor). The person at the front desk could not give us any walking directions (said he was new to the area). Had to go up to second floor to get ice- not very convenient.Overall, it was adequate and reasonably priced. But we will not stay there again.
Seriously from the first moments walking in the front door... there was a lobby full of people needing to be checked into their rooms and only one person working the front desk.—-over an hour and a half to get to our rooms.Got to our room and it’s tidy but dusty and broken faucet; hot water is only warm; beds are hard, cheap mattresses; The staff were all super nice. The issue is the owners and management are pinching pennies. The worst part, though, was getting ready to go to bed at night and hearing all the freeway noise and . . . Wait for it... there’s an outside venue at the end of the hotel. Usually you might be able to hear buzzing or muffled music, but because there are cheap window panes—single pane, and NO effort to insulate, it’s like you are literally sitting in front of DJ’s speakers! If I’d known, we never would’ve booked here. The rates are no cheaper because the hotel is close to downtown and I’m sure they stay full, b/c of the demand. But, if you are looking for a IHG quality, this is NOT the place. Please save your sanity and energy, actually get some rest some where else.
There are nicer hotels in the area, but this one is ok for a family on a budget. Not directly on the beach, but very near and a short walk. Stained carpet, older facility, but they are working to keep it clean/healthy. Staff helped us book a great dolphin cruise. Breakfast was good and they served us (go up and order your food) on disposable plates in the dining area. My son did get one spoiled milk, but it was replaced - not out of date, so I dont know why it would be spoiled. 2 Queen Suite does NOT have a truly separate room for the sofa bed, just a tiny room (no door) between sleeping room with beds and bathroom area - so once one person is up for the day, everyone is up. Pool area was small but nice and well-kept with tiny hot tub.
The hotel was average overall. Main issue no real breakfast due to broken equipment. The loud music coming from a local bar/restaurant sure which but speakers in the trees and music playing ALL NIGHT LONG!!! Management offered no assistance saying there’s nothing they can do. San Antonio doesn’t have any city ordinances or rules regarding disturbances, if not the hotel needs to upgrade their windows etc. Rooms need a decor upgrade but roomy. Bathroom door on top of toilet. Did I mention waffle nor pancakes available, broken... My husband braced the fridge, one leg broken off! I wouldn’t stay here again due to loud music!
Id give this place 0 if I could. Boss decided to use this hotel for our company retreat. Upon arriving we found out that not only did they give away one of our rooms, but they also shorted us a bed in one of the rooms. When my boss (an older Hispanic lady) asked the kid behind the counter (Terry) if he could fix the issue. His response was to not only belittle my boss, but to tell us flat out to go somewhere else (over 1 bed). The kid refused to help, insulted not only our group, but 3 other groups that had the same problem (not the room they had reserved). It got to the point where he just went to the back and watched videos on his phone with a large of group of angry customers at the counter.I took my family to a different hotel, and after Terrys attitude, we wont stay at a holiday inn again.
Positive: Comfortable bed and separate bathroom area. Had a maintenance problem that was fixed immediately. Negative: Advertised hot breakfast but had limited continental breakfast because of understaffing and of course, the Covid excuse. Hotel should amend amenities listing to remove hot breakfast if it is not being offered.
One of the best experience, when we showed up at front, the front lady was very nice, helpful, very quick.... Room was good, as per requested, neat and clean.... a little cooling issue.... over all.good.. utensils were good... coffee maker, all electronics devices working well, wifi working good. Room service was good..Near to river walk.. tower of americas... Over all excellent.. highly recommended
I frequent many IHG branded hotels. This by far was one I would not recommend. There is a bar next to the hotel which plays music at a high level late into the night, keeping one from sleeping. The room had no hair shampoo, the hairdryer was not working and the lamps lightbulb was out. I should have known when I drove into the parking lot not to stay after observing the lack of attention to the lawn surrounding the hotel. Weeds were overgrown and it appeared no lawn service had taken place in months.
This hotel was the worst Holiday Inn Express we have ever stayed in. There was no water in the hot tub, the pool was dirty, no bread for toast for breakfast. We had to ask the night staff twice to ask people to leave the pool area which was right outside our room and it was after 10:00 PM and they were being very noisy. Our room was 110 and said to be for the handicapped, but the door stuck so badly that we had to use our shoulder to push it open on entry. Some of the furniture appeared to be missing as there were blank spaces on the wall. All of the other Holiday Inns we stayed at on this trip were really nice, even considering the Covid restrictions
The room was very spacious, the bed, in general, was very comfortable and I liked you had options on what pillow to pick (soft or firm). The lighting was great and the overall environment as well. Very complete breakfast included and good service from the ladies who handled it. I would definitely come back.
When we arrived, our reservation was for 2 queen beds. The first room that we were sent to had 1 bed. Then we were moved to room number 2 - only had 1 bed again. Finally, the third room that we moved all of our things to had 2 beds. There was no apology for the inconvenience, etc. The breakfast was very limited. The room was clean. However, the hallway was not.
This hotel was not prepared for the volume of guests on a weekend with multiple conferences/tournament. I could list all the awful details, but it comes down to them being understaffed. If you want sleep on a Friday or Saturday night, best not stay here. There’s a bar next door and the music was so loud that the TV could not cover it. Then, apparently something happened in the parking lot that we are pretty sure the individual did not survive based on the sheer number of emergency vehicles and workers and the giant pumping device on the chest. Next time, I’ll just pay the extra money for some peace and quiet and working air conditioning in the halls. Nothing like walking off the elevator into sweltering heat.
It’s an old building and a new hotel is under construction nearby. Not the closest to Alamo, but fine for walking once as parking near tourists spots can start at $15 for 1-3 hours. Popcorn ceilings and felt very old. Suite is a microwave and a barely functioning small fridge. Bathroom door didn’t close and bathroom shower didn’t turn off completely. Is a budget hotel and not like the standard I get from IHG hotels. Spring break and kids were using the pool daily that was full of leaves and nasty water as it hasn’t been serviced for use. I had great service from the staff and they were very helpful and courteous. They just need to work in the hopefully soon to be built new one for me to visit again.
The location was great as far as how close it was to downtown. Also liked that there were two rooms which we needed. Would have been nice to have a tv in the other bedroom. The room did not have a fresh scent but smelled old. The AC unit in the main bedroom was old and we couldn’t turn off. The phone did not work at all and the plugs in the main room were missing on the night stand.
Very friendly and helpful staff. The hot tub has been drained and I was informed its being removed. Limited breakfast. I found hair in my room from a previous guest by the coffee maker and in the beds, and the faucet on the bathtub leaks. Its a somewhat sufficient hotel for the price but it could use some updating, and its pretty far from all the activities of the Riverwalk.
The rooms where dirty and we had to get 7 different key before even being able to get into a room. The front desk clerk was very rude and disrespectful. It was the worst hotel that we have ever been in and we have stayed in a lot of different hotels. The hot tub didn’t even have any water in it and when we asked about it the guy at the front acted like he couldn’t here. There was urine all over the bathroom ceiling and dried silicone on the floor. The was no manger in site to get a refund so we could have got a different hotel. I will not ever recommend that hotel to anyone we know. We also moved got our IHG point for a 4 day 3 night stay.
Positive: A lot of parking Negative: The room needs more lights, ithat room had more lights you can see where they were removed. At the kitchen there were some fruits with moho. We were in the room for 4 nights and only one time the bed was fixed and have cleaned towels.
Absolutely filthy! This place was possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in! The place is old and dingy. The sofa was stained and filthy. The microwave had greasy handprints on door and it and refrigerator was dirty. The king sized beds had queen sized comforters and stained and torn sheets. But the worst was the bathroom. There was literally mildew everywhere in shower. The toilet seat was so old it was worn down to the wood. The GM should be ashamed! No he should be fired.
Two main reasons that let me give a bad rate. 1- the hotel has safety warnings for the pandemic all over the place, however, their own staff don’t follow it. The receptionist was not wearing mask, which is the basic of the basic for safety measures during the pandemic, and the worst point of it is that he was always rubbing his nose, with the same hand that he handled our room keys. Terrible experience for a pandemic time. 2- room is extremely uncomfortable. I mean the bed and the sofa, you can’t feel comfortable on it.
Our room had an electrical problem that could have been a dangerous situation. My son plugged his laptop into the desk and found out the desk was not plugged into the wall. My son then plugged the desk into the wall and this popped at the outlet and blew the circuit. This was at night and we did not find out till the morning. This circuit controls the living room sockets and the backroom sockets. More importantly the circuit controlled the restroom light. This meant that when I got up in the morning to use the restroom, there was no light. We did not know what happened so everyone had to get ready in the morning without a restroom light. This also meant that our phones and devices did not charge overnight. This could have been a dangerous event if my son had been shocked by that bad socket. It seems they knew about this bad socket as the desk was unplugged. I reported the issue to the front desk on our way out and they said they would fix it. After a long day of being in town, we came back tired and ready to relax, only to find out the lights were still out. The front desk person stated they reset the breaker, but of course, the desk was still plugged in, so it tripped the circuit again. I asked to move to another room and they said yes, but my kids and wife were too tired to move. This is a safety concern for anyone who stays in that room #302. There was also a used pillow cover on the floor of the room when we checked in. I dont know what people have in their hair so I dont think a pillow cover should be left behind in a cleanroom. Also, since the staff is short, they stated the room service was not available daily. We had to do the housekeeping to our own room including going downstairs for blankets and towels. The only good thing about this stay was the bar across the street had live Rock music and Tejano Music. The market and Riverwalk are too far to walk unless you want to be sweaty and tired when you get there. The girls were not having it after they had put there make-up on. We had to drive and spend more money on parking.
Like the friendliness of the staffs. The rooms is clean and comfortable. The downside is the hotel is close to the highway and next to the bar. The noise is the big issue during the night if the room are facing highway and close to the bar. wWhen the live music start from the bar and it keep going pass midnight. It really unable to rest very well. Hope the hotel can improve the insulation on the wall and better seal for the window to block the noise.
Room was great and everything else was terrible. Booked on booking.com and they showed that this hotel had a hot tub and a nice pool... Hot tub was not working and staff said it was listed on their website as not working and pool was so green and filthy that we didnt even want to put our feet in it! Also the hotel is located next to a bar and we heard 4 gunshots in the middle of the night. We did not sleep well with two kiddos and will never be back here nor would recommend it.
W.O.W!!!. my expressions in one word about this establishment... 💙 after an 8 hour drive from El paso, Texas we arrived at the hotel during labor day. We were greeted with a very warming, welcoming, and positive host!!. His name is TEJAS.. We had a great conversation, he asked about our ride in from El paso, craked quite a lot of jokes, he even let me and my family know that if there was anything else we may need to not hesitate. He wants our stay to be perefct, restful and enjoyful, he did let us know because of the pandemic room service will not available and that was understanble, Many karens there were not excepting that!.. But there will always be people like that...front desk was curtious, and extremely attentive to our needs during our entire stay. The rooms were PERFECT,.. NOTHING was broken, falling off the walls, the room smelled like fabreeze and it was extremely well maintained. Lets NOT forget the breakfast....the breakfast host was.. Energetic, on top of things, attentive, social at the right moments... She was very clean always tiding up the place. And always haf coffee refilled which is VERY IMPORTANT!! The hall ways were also impressive.. Super clean. Didnt smelled outdated/ old, musty, again.. Like febreez.. I am an awards member.. And they really do tske care of their members.. TEJAS! THIS is for you!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR LOVE , Care, and positive attitude!. You made our stay unique.. The whole group. P.S. the location was right on spot.. 10 minutes from the river walk ..whixh made the expiernece even mooore great!!
I give it a 3-star rating because there was loud music at a nearby bar outside on the weekend until 1AM, the shower water temperature was either too cold or too hot for me, the room smelled kinda bad, and there were a few bugs. The good things were the comfy bed, breakfast, modern style, and that the location was near Downtown San Antonio.
Had a group of people stay, and everyone was very pleased. The staff was extremely helpful and went out of their way to help us out and accommodate all of us. We had to extend several rooms and once again no issues. Overall very thankful and simply a great experience. Thank you
They only cleaned the room every 3 days, didn’t empty trash and we had to go buy our own toilet paper because we ran out. They said we could request the room to be cleaned, but when I voiced my request I was greeted with the fact that they were trying to stay out of the rooms as much as possible. I requested towels and was only brought one size towel, bath towels. Management was not helpful at all with the exception of Adrianna who greeted us the first day. There is a bar/ice house next door and there was shots fired the 2nd nite we were there. I will never stay at this hotel again and will make sure to investigate Who actually runs the hotel.
The room was nice and spacious, living area with tv, sleeping area with 2 beds and second TV. Clean and appears to be updated. Comfy bed, decent breakfast, and free parking.Took one star away for the noise. There is a bar next door that was pretty loud on a Saturday. That might be a plus if your wanting some nightlife. Close to the highway and Marketplace. Everyone was pleasant and efficient.
Rooms were clean and comfortable. There was some noise from the nearby highway. My main complaint is I was charged a $25 incidentals fee for each of the 2 rooms I had booked using my IHG rewards. This has always been refunded back to my card within a couple days. It has been 9 days since our stay and the $50 has not been reimbursed!!!I dont know what is going on. Ive never had this happen before.I will not recommend staying at this IHG hotel until these funds are refunded!
Probably the worst hotel I’ve stayed at ever. They were booked and didnt have any parking for anybody. They kept telling everybody to find parking elsewhere. A line full of people waiting half an hour to an hour to get attended. People with dirty towels complaining and dirty pillows with a few having blood in them and no pillow case in the room. They tolled 2 vehicles away for not having permits but vehicles actually did have the permits. This hotel was a mess. Very unorganized. Never again.
So I have stayed with the IHC brand for many years, countless nights. My hotel points have exceeded over 2,000,000 points in the 7 years that I stayed. I was disappointed with this experience bc of the loud bar/ band located just outside of my window. Hard to sleep bc of music late late late into the night. I was told that bc of covid, they only do room service every 3 days for extended stays. I had no problem with that. My stay was 5 nights. No service was extended. I did use my points, maybe thats why I was put in that room? It was my most disappointed stay at a Holiday Inn...
The location of the room topped it off! We were so close to Southtown and Market Square. A lyft was only about $10 in any direction because we were in the center of it all, youre even close enough to walk to some main attractions. Im a local and like to stay downtown when I decide to spend my weekends down there. Ive never been this impressed with a hotel downtown. I highly recommend!
Upon arrival to the room the lock was loose and seemed broken. Took many tries to get it opened. The refrigerator was not cooling and management said they could not replace it. We needed more towels and washcloths but they did not have enough clean, they said come back later. After a long day out we all needed to take hot showers and relax but we could not because of the lack of clean towels and washcloths. The only thing comfortable about the room was having a roof over our head.
A++ Just got back from my stay in San Antonio. Highly recommend this hotel which has everything going for it.Jigar who checked me in was super friendly and very attentive to anything I needed. Made sure that my room preference was met as well. Everyone at the hotel was wonderful always greeting you with a smile. The location cant be beat. Within a mile or 2 of all the sights to see. My suite was spacious and super clean as was all of the hotel. Loved the coffee station and ice water in the comfortable lobby. Front desk did a great job making sure it was always well stocked and neat as a pin. It was wonderful to wake up to the extensive complimentary breakfast buffet in the expansive dining area. Especially loved the fresh pancake making machine and Greek yogurt. Delicious! Other wonderful amenities here are wonderful gym, pool and hot tub. Thank you so much for a great stay looking forward to staying there again in the future.
They never cleaned the rooms after 3 nights. we had a pass and that still towed are truck on the 3 night and we paid 500 to get it out. The service was rude. Thay didn’t give us soup or coffee we had walk all the way done stairs it’s just all bad. And when we got her we went to are room and the tv didn’t work the leds didn’t work the wall plugs didn’t work and thay moved to another room and the only thing that worked was the tv when thay moved us. Just the worst place I ever stayed
UPDATE: I called the hotel today because I called before and my call was not returned. The manager said I should have addressed the issue when I was there....I explained why I didnt. He said he couldnt do anything now and I had blasted a review everywhere. I said it was hard to believe that as the manager he couldnt do anything. He went on to say that since I called corporate, they charged him for the room and he is already out money. I have never had such poor customer service. I already wrote everything. Awful experience and no one has contacted me like they said they would.
Although the staff was very nice in general. The hotel is very old, rooms smell like mildew, carpets are stained, the windows are so old you can feel the breeze coming in as well as the loud music from the bar behind it. Music blasting all night long. You won’t be able to sleep. Breakfast was a disaster with hard bagels.
When we needed towels or ran out of shampoo, we could ask the front desk and they would try their best to be attentive. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was good, although it ended a little early. The only complaint I would have would be the internet service. It was weak and would rarely ever work. However, I did enjoy my stay and the staff available were very kind.
Definitely not like most of other hotels in their chain, The infrastructure does not seem to support if more than 50% of hotel is booked. There was no space for parking vehicles and some of them were parked right in front of the main entry making it difficult to enter/exit and blocking some vehicles from leaving. Breakfast room was small and congested with no place to sit and service was poor. Very few breakfast options and had a long wait time for refills. Computers in business room were not working. The room itself was decent, clean and spacious. I would rather prefer to stay at another hotel location.
Stayed during the snow and freezing temperatures. The staff was very busy but under the circumstances the staff was doing everything possible to accommodate guests. They were all very hard workers. Tejas, Carmen, and the other front desk employees and the maid service as well. You cant please everyone during an act of mother nature but they tried their best. The beds were super comfortable and the staff was super busy keeping the place clean.
Worried when I pulled up, but won over by the service. What I mean is, this area can look a little rough. My checkin was amazing, even though I was early and prepared to wait, she found me a room that had already been cleaned, away from the elevator. They recognized my rewards account without me having to mention it, which was nice. Hotel room was very clean, and kind of large (it was a suite). Breakfast was pretty standard, except the lady server was the best!!! So sweet and friendly! Front desk staff always had a smile. The loss of one star is due almost entirely to the state of the staircase I was close to. Several door handles need to be adjusted, and after it rained one day they put a towel down to keep people from tracking in mud/water. Time to get a mat.Liked this place a lot. I would love to come back.
Positive: The hotel was better than I expected after reading some reviews. It was clean, staff nice, & location had alot if food & shopping. Negative: The only thing that I didnt like, I would have to say the air conditioner. Could not find right temp. It was a little warm or freezing
Old carpet smell. No ice for four days. Room seems to have no maintenance upkeep. AC makes a loud noise. Blow dryer looks like it was in a war. Used wash rag on the shower rod once we got in. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Some things may be out of their control.
I’m not impressed. I chose this place for convenience and it is conveniently located for me, but the convenience doesn’t outweigh the problems in my opinion. My first stay they put us in room 300. My wife and I decided to go out to dinner. Before leaving I always check the doors to make sure they lock. The door would not lock. I called the front desk and the man quickly came up and tried several times to reprogram the lock without success. They moved us to a different room. On our second stay, they again put us up in room 300. First thing I did was check the door, no issues thankfully. In the morning we showered before hitting the road. There was only one washcloth in the room. I’m sure they would of brought one right up had I asked, but I think I shouldn’t have to ask. Yes, it’s minor, but that coupled with leaving the prior guests open bar of soap in the shower. If the open bar of soap is sitting there, was it even cleaned prior to my stay?Other than that, the place was clean and the staff was friendly, but I won’t be back. There are two hotels across the street, I’ll stay there next time. Thanks
There is very little lighting in this hotel! The bathtub was VERY dirty, slippery and dipped in the middle. The USB port in the living room area was blown out. The pullout sofa had trash under it, the carpet and floor were dirty and sticky. BLOOD specks in the restroom by the towel bar! The parking was horrible. Very little space to hang clothes and not much furniture to place luggage on. The staff was very nice.
Good size room. The room was clean upon arrival, they did not do a great job cleaning room each day.I had 2 TVs with a variety of channels along with a microwave and refrigerator. I did not hear sounds from other rooms any of the nights I was there. The staff at this facility was friendly and eager to help with anything I wanted. The breakfast food taste was poor vs. other hotels Ive stayed at.
Good value. Straight 10 minute walk to the Mexican market. I walked down there at least 3 times. Seven minute walk to the supermarket. Nice outdoor bar and a Pizza Hut across the street. Two TVs in the first floor suite is nice. Due to COVID, terrible breakfast choices. Staff very nice. It is in an empty part of town so there is plenty of parking.
The Beautyrest mattress used on the beds was in very good condition, and pillows were of a mix soft and softer, which made my rest feel as though I had slept on the clouds. I wouldnt change a thing. The morning and evening staff members were of great assistance in maneuvering me in the right direction using the office system in the lobby and made sure my guest and I had sufficient towels for the pool. Overall good-time Id call it. Keep up the good work!
Very clean I highly recommend this Hotel the staff was very friendly and attentive! If I visit San Antonio again I will want to stay at this Hotel !! Also loved the view from My Room , And Beds we’re very comfortable, And loved the location ,we were near the Riverwalk. it was very convenient! Overall it was a Very nice and comfortable Hotel . And Also there was a plus !!! A Pizza Hutt right across the street Lol
I can honestly say that the staff there are great. we didnt like the room they had gave me when we got there but the manager had no problem changing us to a better room. we where able to rest. The next day we had breakfast it was not bad at all pretty average but good. I love the staff there can say enough about how welcomed they made us feel and help us with anything we needed. so thank you so much and keep up the good work!!
The night we checked in, the back of the parking lot was being used by families, who took up several spots. Lots of noise. The room we had was a double sweet, very little lighting. The room took some time to cool off but nice. Sadly, the drainage was not good. We notified the front desk and no word from them and thankfully it was fixed when we got back from our outing. Staff was pleasant but for when you know your hotel is booked pretty full, maybe not have your spaces being used by families for their outdoor party.
This was during the cold spell....When I got to the hotel she was very busy and she was able to take care of everybody waiting which was great on her part(Carmen). Carmen was very helpful and did a great job. I got to my room the faucets were on and there was water all over the counter and floor. I was able to shower that night and woke up to no water. I told the front desk person and he didn’t offer any solutions. When I checked out I told the other person of my issues and again no offer or suggestions for my problems
Love IHG and was disappointed by this visit. Full disclosure of being 100 yards from the highway, A/C in room and floors not working well. Room stayed humid the entire stay. Sign was busted vinyl temporary sign cut up and ragged all trees on property are dead, pool was to cloudy, we did not use. Fire escape doors propt open floor 1
I have always stay in IHG hotel this one was the worst experience ever and the customer service was rude and poor.At check in they give me a dirty room- even tho I check in in advance using the mobile app.I book for 4 nights they only clean my room one time and thats because I asked for it.2nd day I got stock on the elevator for 2 hours and no one apologize for the trouble.3rd day they deactivate my room keys and had to come down to get new keys again no one care and acted like it was my fault
The staff was very friendly, especially Tejas. The only slightly negative things were the hotel door would get jammed easily and took some time to open also, the beds werent the most comfortable but not the worst. I would still recommend this hotel as a place to stay.
Horrible. No soap, shampoo, ice bucket, etc. Terrible customer service. Overpriced parking and do not believe a word they tell you about what they will bill you.Ignore the hotels response. It is DEFINITELY the hotel at which I stayed. No surprise they say they dont charge parking--that is what 3 employees told me 3 separate time . . . UNTIL I checked out. I booked through Travelocity so when I checked in, they also told me at that time they couldnt find my reservation (like they say on their response to my original post) . . . until they kept looking at could. They are a horrible confusion and mess.
Our room backed to the freeway, and the traffic could be heard. Our 4th floor room, you could feel it vibrate now and then.Carpet could be updated, and a few misc places. Pool area could be updated (fresh paint on trim as an example).Hot tub was great to relax in. Pool was cold (it was in the 60’s when I was there, so we expected pool to be cold).Breakfast options is the same of typical hotels. No waffles, just pancakes. I’m not a fan of the pancakes.Staff was great, and a big reason why I would recommend this place. We had some issues with our dates but the staff was beyond accommodating and helpful. I arrived later than expected, and they had my room ready when I got there finally at 11 am. Thank you Amanda for your assistance before and after. This is a good place to stay for things like graduations, business, etc.
To start, the first room we were given had something in the floor next to the bed that looked like vomit that was not cleaned up (I have a picture). There was also trash/wrappers in the floor next to the couch. Definitely wasnt cleaned well. They gave us a different room, we moved our stuff, and left for dinner. When we returned, we found that one of the A/C units did not work. We didnt mention it at that time and figured we would just make do. The next morning, we woke up early because we had an appointment to be somewhere and found that our car was towed. When I went to the desk to report the issue, there were other people there with the same complaints. We were told we were supposed to have a parking pass in the window. I was not given one, nor were any of the other people (8 cars towed in total). There were also no signs in the parking lot about a parking pass, nor were there any in the lobby. Interestingly enough, there were fresh papers hung up in the elevator and lobby that morning and were highlighted. Those were not there the night before. This all took 4 hours away from our day to recover our vehicle. We missed half of the day that we had planned and that we drove 4 hours to get to the night before. When all of this was brought to the staff at the counter, we were all told that the manager knows of our complaints and is on the way in. It took 3.5 hours for a manager to arrive and finally call the towing company requesting the release of the cars with no fee. We had to find a ride to the lot where our car was to get it back. The towing service said that they were given a list of cars with no tags for them to pickup. To top all of this off, we were kept up all night with a night club next door, people screaming in the street, a shooting that happened at 1 am in the parking lot next door, and a fight that broke out after the shooting that brought in 8 policemen to the scene from about 1-3 am. I requested a refund of our room because of the various events that happened. I was given $50 off of a one night hotel stay. Not satisfied.
The room was good, had a living area, then a bath/kitchen area then the sleeping area. 2 TVs. The young man that checked us in gave mo information about anything, like when breakfast was, check out time or anything else. Unfortunately its next to some type of drinking establishment and the windows dont block any noise. Sounded like drag racing and fighting for most of the night. Did not get much sleep.
The general manager made sure every part of my stay was perfect. She was very friendly and wanted to make sure I was happy during my entire stay! They are very accommodating at this location. More so than any other holiday Inn’s that I have stayed at. The customer service at the front desk was great, the Cleaning service was great. The breakfast was outstanding!
Its a simple place to stay. Very conveniently located. Service was near top-notch. Room amenities are so-so, but what you expect for under a $100. The older Hispanic lady that took care of the breakfast was awesome, very polite, and helpful. They are in the process of updating the physical stuff in the rooms, but they have done a great job on the service side. Id stay here again.
The room was extremely bigger than I expected. It had the bathroom between the sitting area and sleeping area. The air and heat worked very well and the BED!!!!!....... OMG was it Amazingly huge and comfortable. I didnt want to leave it.(get out of it or leave it in San Antonio. The employees there are more friendlier then a lot of other locations weve been to. I love this location and its the only one Ill stay in anytime I go to San Antonio.
My hotel stay was good, My chief complaint was parking. The spaces were limited and very narrow. Beds were comfy. I had 2 king size beds that I assumed the rooms would be bigger but they were right behind each other. Breakfast choices were very limited and it was a small dining room. The hotel did have fresh coffee all day which was great.
For a hotel this pricey I did expect a bit more. But: The service was really nice. I felt welcome here.UPDATE:After bringing up the subject about the bug and the noise I got a huge apologize and the man at the reception told me that they will immediately see to it. The windows will get renovated, which surely will make a huge difference with the noise. Thank you again for great service, this is something I really loved about the hotel.
The staff was great!! Rebecca at the front desk was great. Nice as all outdoors. Loved her. Very pretty and easy to relate to.Building was older, but they did a good job of updating. Room wasnt what i expected. Didnt particularly like the bathroom sink separate from the bathroom itself in the hallway. Probably will look for a different Holiday Inn the next time Im in San Antonio, but still not a bad place to stay.
I had an amazing stay with my boyfriend for our anniversary. We checked in, went to our room and it was a standard, 2 bed room. We had reserved a King room, so we called the front desk and they took care of us in a matter of minutes. Changed our room and gave us our keys. The GM Cristina was very friendly and helpful with everything we needed. Breakfast had a lot of selections and was delicious. This was one of the best hotel experiences, by far, that I have had. Thank you Cristina and your amazing staff!
Rooms very were spacious. The room we ( family of 4) had a cracked tile, looks like the piece was glued on instead of fixed properly. Just some minor upgrading I would suggest. Breakfast was awesome, Kids enjoyed the pool. Over all great stay , would stay in the future at this location. Very convenient to downtown and freeway.
Hotel is super clean. Hotel staff is great. Breakfast is awesome. There’s a little bit of road noise due to being close to the highway, but it’s not bad. Plus you have easy access on and off highway. Nice tv’s in the rooms. Parking lot is well lit. There is a bar next door that some biker were there on Sunday night didn’t hear them until they left . Overall great hotel would like ceiling fan in bedroom and a little bit better lighting but overall great.
We booked 2 rooms for our large family. The check in receptionist (Adriana)was very friendly and helpful. She made sure our rooms were close to each other. Upon getting into the rooms the are very clean and spacious. The breakfast attendant was Margarita, she helped me get my kids their plates. Good was delicious! Tina was our checkout receptionist and was super friendly. We will definitely be coming back again soon. All staff was friendly with smiles.
This Holiday Inn is in downtown San Antonio but not immediately on the Riverwalk. We had a really big room for 5 of us. It was a king suite with a king bed and couch in the main room and a 2nd king size bed in a separate bedroom. There was plenty of room for all of us! The hotel is clean and well kept. The staff was super friendly too. The rooms and beds were very comfortable. It was not a long walk to the Riverwalk... maybe about 3/4 of a mile at most. We always felt safe on the property and while walking downtown. If seems there were lots of people everywhere at all times of the day and evening. Considering the hotel was almost half of what it would have cost to stay right on the river, Id definitely recommend it.
This hotel is clean and the rooms are laid out well with great amenities (iron, board, fridge, coffee, 2 TVs, extra blankets and pillows). The front desk staff was amazingly helpful and attentive and knowledgable about the area. The hotel is located blocks from The Market Area and the Riverwalk. There was plenty of parking. The continental breakfast was decent with several options and the lobby/dining area was spacious and well laid out. The hotel is affordable considering how close it is to major tourist attractions. We enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it to friends and family.
Easy access from the freeway and great downtown location. One reason we choose this location is the parking was FREE and walkable to Market Square. Great value, friendly staff. Unfortunately, Covid19 doesnt allow breakfast :( another reason we usually choose Holiday Inn Express but we understand. Thank you for another great stay!
While the staff was friendly and helpful the room was another story. Many things in the room were falling apart. There wasn’t a toilet paper holder in the bathroom, the shower curtain rod was wobbly and felt like it would fall off the wall. A towel rack in the bathroom was barely hanging onto the wall. The A/C cover in one of the bedrooms kept falling off the unit. There were also dirty marks across the walls in the bathroom Abbas bedrooms.Overall it was okay and we managed but we definitely expected more for what we paid.
We drove 6 hours and arrived tired. We had two young children with us. The parents and children went for a quick swim, only to be greeted by a group of partying people. There was very loud music and we were told there was nothing to be done as it was a night club.Room was clean but could not get someone to check desk light.Food was very good. Most of the staff was very pleasant.Thank you.
If I were reviewing this hotel just on the room, it would look a lot better. The room was clean when we arrived, the space was large, beds were comfortable. If all you want is a room to sleep in, this is a good place to stay comfort wise. However; beware there is live music across the street on the weekends that is very loud. Hotel staff told us they would be done around 11:30pm. The breakfast area is very small and can only fit roughly 15- 20 people at a time, the food quality if very poor as well and we avoided eating most of it and stuck with the fruit and bread. The staff was poorly prepared and couldnt keep up with demand. At one point, there were roughly 30 people standing in line, waiting on eggs and pancake batter to be refilled. Our experience with housekeeping was very poor. On Sunday, our room wasnt cleaned until 5:30pm. They also didnt provide full sheet sets for the couch pull out and instead offered two fitted sheets and said these should work. This hotel is probably worth $60 - $70 a night and patrons ok with low expectations, otherwise, stay clear of this location.
The location in regards to local attractions was excellent. There were a few detractors in regards to the guest room. Air flow in the front of the guest suite was poor. It was rather warm. The AC in the second bedroom leaked profusely, creating a puddle. The bath tub was kind of tubular. Care had to be taken to avoid a fall. When we checked out and reported the issue with the AC, the front desk employee did not seem to be that concerned with the problem. The grandboys loved the pancake maker.
Solid hotel for worth, front desk staff was very nice, continental breakfast 4 out of 5, breakfast staff was beyond nice though, high commend them. Design in rooms were very spacious and updated to be nice! Parking wasnt an issue at all during my stay. Would def. Come and stay again if in town.
I stayed for two nights with my family. When we arrived to register we waited for half an hour, there was only one text that indicated wait for the staff. The second day they did not clean the room. They just told me that the cleaning person was gone. The young woman at reception offered to bring towels and after 30 minutes I had to go to reception.I have been a guest of the IHG group for almost 20 years and it is the first time that I regret having chosen that hotel. I am very disappointed I had never received a deplorable service before. Sincerely,Sergio Guaso
This was my first stay at this Holiday Inn Express and we did book it again for one night during the following week when we had to return to San Antonio. Staff at the front desk were very professional and courteous and the rooms were nice, BUT I really had issues with the elevator, which seemed to always have an extremely wet floor due to the families, mostly children, taking the elevator from the pool to their rooms. The one day the elevator floor was dry, it was sticky and the lobby floor was also sticky, so I suspect a guest spilled a sweetened drink on the floor and it was not adequately mopped to reduce the stickiness. The soles of my shoes were sticky for the remainder of my trip. Also, whenever the elevator was being used by pool visitors, it reeked of sweat.I would recommend this hotel if traveling during the cooler months, but during the summer it appears to be taken over by families with young children. Unfortunately, most of these families let their kids run wild while they were there - not the hotel managements fault, but just know that this hotel will appeal to families with young children. Also, our rooms were upgraded to suites because of my Priority Club membership, but since we had one person per room, that extra space wasnt really of use. My double king room could easily sleep 6, but there is only one bathroom and it is very small. It did help that the sink/dressing area was separate from the toilet/shower area. Another problem was that the lighting in the sink/dressing area was very low. If you opened the shade on the window, that helped light the area, but it also let in all the noise from the pool.
This is a 3 star hotel, at most. But had to give it only 2 stars, due to a light sewer smell in our room. I asked for a different room, but none were available. So the front desk gave me a spray to kill the smell. On top of that, the shower rod was loose and the curtain would not stay closed. Also, the AC didnt cool the room, although it was set to 65. Top it all off, there is a bar next door that plays loud music, until 2:00 AM, on weekends! Hoping to get a discount for all this. For the same rate, you can stay at a bigger, 4 star hotel!
The stay began with Shelbys welcoming at the front desk. She was freindly, efficient and helpful and that carried out through our stay. Clearly the property is under renovation and is going to be even better when finished. Our room was very nice, clean, and well maintained. Breakfast was very good, though a little chaotic due to space limitations associated with the renovation. The location is great for the Riverwalk and other attractions, though it assumes a willingness to walk 10-12 minutes. For us that was great. It made a very good property available to us at a price we could afford, as opposed to paying a lot more on the River Walk and getting nothing better than a closer location. I say keep up the good work.
Pros: Good location and friendly staff. Cons and other: There was an unpleasant smell walking into the hotel and room. Hotel appears outdated and in need of some upgrades. Room was located on the second floor near the front of the hotel, so it was noisy from the guests hanging out in front. Elevator was very slow. We stayed in the double king suite. I would say it was a good size for 3 adults or perhaps a couple with 1 or 2 kids as it only has 1 bathroom. Did not like the fact that you have to walk through one of the bedrooms to get to the other one. Sitting area was good.
Room was in complete disrepair. Window unable to close completely so road noise was loud in addition to bar music next door, window blinds broken, many lights in room inoperative or missing/broken making very dark and unwelcoming, charging outlets broken and non-working. coffee maker broken, air conditioner would not heat room and also broken. Ice machines out of order or not available on floor, hallway windows had broken frames and wall cracks, doors missing knobs and locks/taped over, carpeting lifting throughout and worn. Room fridge propped up on a wash cloth
The hotel was in a great location near the Riverwalk and the price was good for the proximity to downtown. Beds were super comfortable and the shower was the best one I have had at a hotel in terms of functionality. The only problem was that there was an outdoor restaurant/bar near the property that blared music all night. It didnt hinder me from sleeping but the sound was there the whole time.
The location is good I suppose for proximity to local attractions, however the ridiculous loud music that comes from the bar across the street completely ruins the appeal. There are motorcycles at all hours, and loud patrons from the establishment also add to the noise levels. The hotel rooms are furnished well, but the hotel around it appears rather dated and in some cases a bit neglected. The parking lot is quite compact, so those with a large work truck may have issues getting in and out easily.Breakfast is as expected from any IHG, its hot, and usually its open a bit earlier than the hours say, which can be very convenient for anyone who rises early. The hotel seems to employ a pretty extensive staff, and rarely are they idle, which is a redeeming factor, as they are always cleaning and keeping things orderly.Had the positives outweighed the negatives, Id highly recommend this hotel, unfortunately the amount of noise in the area is simply too much, and any light sleeper will have a hard time here.
The staff is the best part of this hotel. Everyone was very nice. But the hotel needs a true renovation and parking regulations need to be enforced. The pool was sketchy at best. The door frame to our room looked like someone tried to break in. It did not feel secure in the room. Find a different hotel.
This HIEX was a MAJOR disappointment. The rooms smelled horrible, the tub water continuously trickled, and I saw a cockroach in the lobby. This property was poorly built, and poorly maintained. We were in a room, that had the tub and toilet door-ed in, with the mirror and sink in the common area... Not really a fan of that, it was so hard to take a shower in the tiny little bathroom. You had to hang your towel directly over the toilet! Next door is a biker bar...even on a Wednesday night it was packed...and all hours of the night you could hear people leaving on their motorcycles. The location was fine, but other than that, not a good choice. I would find a better option! Also, they were short on maid staff... so even at 5:00 pm when we checked in, our rooms werent ready. Pretty annoying after a full day of travel. The staff was nice, but couldnt make up for all the shortcomings.
The hotel staff was wonderful but there is a new open-air bar nearby that blares music so loudly that it literally sounds like you have the radio on inside your room. My room also had some disrepair issues with the tub and a bedside lamp, but the bed was really comfy. The free breakfast is helpful, especially if you bring kids, but it closes at 9:30. The sofa bed in the queen suite is great for kids but would need a topper to be comfortable for an adult. You can walk to the Alamo/Riverwalk area in about 20 min on a nice day but walking home at night would be unsafe, so catch a cab.
This is my 3rd time staying at this Holiday Inn property. It has no frills and is very, very basic, but fits the bill for all our priorities in a hotel. Very clean and accommodating. Very comfortable beds with plenty of extra blankets and pillows. Nice and quiet so that we barely heard anything outside our room at all, we were able to relax. Location of hotel is perfect to do tourist activities in San Antonio without paying higher prices to stay right downtown. Continental breakfast was very satisfactory, good value with lots of options. Front desk clerk Felipe kindly accommodated us with late check-out because weather conditions were poor and we did not want to drive on icy roads. We would certainly return to stay here. Thank you for a nice stay.
Great value, Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. While the room was spacious it could have used a table and couple of chairs. There was ample room to have them. The bed was very comfortable though. Noise was an issue. Traffic, halfway and other rooms seemed all to contribute. But we did manage to get a good night sleep after 11:00 p.m. when things seem to quiet down. With in walking distance to sites. Overall it was a good experience.
I will not stay in this hotel anymore we arrive Friday and we got our room but when we when to take a shower the water was running all over the bathroom floor and in to the hallway. We use the sink and the water was coming out. We had a handicap room. Also the Employees was very rude. Not good at all people.!!!!
We were very happy with the size and layout of our room, as well as the really comfy king bed with pillow top mattress. We spent two nights here and found the location close enough to walk downtown to Market Square, the River Walk and The Alamo. Some less fit may find this a challenge especially in the heat, but taxis are not expensive - $5 downtown. Renovations are being undertaken on the 2nd floor but this did not affect us at all - we were on the 4th floor.Breakfast was very simple, and on the first day they had one packaged muffin that suited my dietary requirements that I had mentioned on booking. However, the second morning, they had none left, so an apple was it! The staff were courteous and helpful, but we found that the standard of dress, demeanour and professionalism was much lower than in our travels to similar hotels (and less expensive ones) around the world. As non-Americans, this puzzles us, as we have found similar standards of behaviour in other customer service roles also at a lower standard than our previous experiences. We didnt see the same staff members twice, so different staff each day.Overall we found this hotel to be very suitable for our needs, our room was clean, and we felt that with the size of the room and its location, we had good value for money. Wifi had to be refreshed each day (which they didnt tell us on checkin), but worked well in our 4th floor room. We are happy to overlook some anomolies, such as the mowing and whipper snipping being done at 9.30-10.00pm!!
This hotel would be okay for a quick overnight if you want to be pretty close to downtown. The elevator is so slow people opt for the stairs even I did and I was on the top floor with 3 kids. The rooms are nice and spacious but the air conditioning unit does not cool both sides of the suite. My room phone didnt work and there is a concert next door that plays loud music until late into the night so dont expect early resting. Breakfast is good and a huge variety to choose from. Parking is free but if you come in late you with have anywhere to park seriously. Overall it will do for a quick stay.
Our stay was great, we were close to the highway/bar outside, so it could be very noisy for some people. We stayed on the weekend so perhaps there was more/louder music than might be typical for a weekday, but it was loud music by a cover band (perhaps karyoke, because some songs were not covered well at all, haha). But, the room was large and comfortable for our family of 5 (little kids and an infant) which was our highest priority. We even had a pocket door to separate us from the kids allowing them to go to sleep earlier than us and sleep later than us the next morning since we controlled lighting into their room.
My, my, my... what a stay! Every one of the front desk staff and cleaning crew did a knockdown job. The pool was really clean, plenty of towels when needed, and the place was very comfortable. I couldnt ask for more. Thanks to everyone there, I call Tip-Top. Keep up the good work.
Loved my first experience, clerk made all the difference in our decision to stay. As we did not have prior reservations, we stoped at other hotels in the vecinity.....and chose not to stay elsewhere even at a cheaper rate. We feel we made a good decision staying at your hotel. Only thing I did not like was the Freeway noise, it was very difficult to sleep. I was told there are future plans to work on minimizing noise . Thank You
Was greeted as a Spire at check in and received the welcome amenity. The suite was already booked so no opportunity for an upgrade but I did get my preferred high floor. Overall, this property is consistent with the HIE brand standards. The room was comfortable and the Wifi worked well throughout my stay. I loved the configuration of the two King room with a sitting area.Breakfast was typical though at this property I thought the available food options and stock levels were below that of other HIEs. My only real complaint about this property is what Ill call the nuisance bar that adjoins the property. I have a reputation for being able to sleep through anything but the very loud music emanating from the establishment on weekend evenings woke me up on multiple occasions. Family members sharing the room had the same experience. This was my second stay at this property and I would stay again when in the area. Was a good value and convenient to the highway and downtown SA.
I was very pleased with the size of the room and that my family fit comfortably. I appreciated that housekeeping came in daily and took out trash and replaced towels. Believe it or not I have stayed at other hotels that with a stay that includes several days like ours was this time they only did these things if requested.
A beautifully updated room with modern decor. Very comfortable atmosphere as well as beds. The staff was very friendly and engaged, even the housekeeping staff made sure to say hello and welcome us. Close to many downtown attractions. The pool was clean and secure. A really positive experience for the whole family. There were some loud motorcycles a few nights which is the only reason for 4 stars under sleep quality.
Older area of downtown San Antonio. But clean hotel with amazing staff. There is some highway noise since it is near major highway but that did not hinder sleep. Glad I stumbled onto this place by accident. Large room with a separate sitting area from the bedroom. Guests were quiet. Great complementary breakfast with multiple selections. Very affordable price considering location and room size/quality. HEB store close to hotel that serves deli food. Pizza place across street. Would have no problem staying there again.
We stayed in the suite but was sadly misled from the online pictures showing an actual door separating the two rooms but instead only a doorway was present. I know the websites always states pictures might not 100 percent reflect actual representation but not having a door is a big mistake. Our kids like to stay up playing video games while us parents have our privacy in the next room. That was part of our ideal stay but we had to compromise our sleep since there was no door. Staff was kind enough to compensate about 30 bucks off our stay but that didn’t make up for a disappointing overnight.
My family decided to head down to San Antonio at the last minute and we were very pleased with this hotel. It was close to Market Square and only a few blocks from the Alamo and Riverwalk! The beds were comfy and the pillows were great. We stayed in the 2 King Suite and it was perfect for our group of 6 with the sofa. The blinds in the bedrooms were AMAZING! I want those things at home! They kept the room dark and it was perfect with my little kids. There was a TV in one of the bedrooms and in the main area of the room that were both updated and not old fashioned. The parking lot had multiple cameras which was a great reassurance for us. We didnt swim in the pool, but did take a peek at it and it looked great, just wish the weather would have been a little warmer so we could have used it. Breakfast was great as well with many options to choose from. A few things were toast/bagels for toasting, fresh pancakes, cereals, oatmeal, cinnamon rolls, eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, and fresh fruit. IF you are to the back of the hotel like we were there isnt an elevator at that end of the building, but it wasnt a big deal. We were in the last room on the 3rd floor and it was very quiet. The only time we heard anything was when we were outside or standing near the window at the end of the hallway and it was music from the biker bar across the street from the back of the hotel. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend this hotel.
This is no 5 star hotel but for a budget stay in downtown San Antonio it is a great value. My room was clean and well stocked. A/C and all other equipment was in proper working order. Furnishings were worn and could use refreshing. Bed was comfortable though and I slept well. Towels were poor quality and felt like I was exfoliating my skin while drying off. The staff were great, very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was average for this level of hotel which was expected. The food was fresh and I have no complaints about it. Overall I was happy with my stay here and would return in the future.
Met in hotel for holiday gathering with family. Large rooms were great, but the hotel is a bit shabby. Clean but ready for some upgrading. Train and freeway noise was a little annoying but bearable. Breakfast area is too small, so eating in room was necessary. Okay but would have much preferred to eat in the dining room for seconds on coffee, etc. The staff was friendly and efficient. Our family gathered in our room for a gift exchange well after 4:00 in the afternoon. I was very disappointed that our room had not been serviced before then. I called but it was still not cleaned until much later. In fact housekeeping came during our party. All in all we had a pleasant stay, but it would have a much better stay if we could have eaten in the dining area and had prompt housekeeping. Another disappointment was that my reward status was not recognized as it usually is. I did not get bottled water or goodies as has become the norm at most HIE locations.
The hotel is not fancy but is well maintained. The environment is nice. The room is comfortable, quiet and convenient (with microwave oven, coffee brewer, and refrigerator). All the people work there are very nice and helpful, including staff at the front desk, the ladies who are preparing breakfast and the cleaning crew. They answered our questions quickly and provided things we asked. The breakfast is decent and with some nice choices. Parking space is plenty except the first night when a big group of youth arrived. Still we managed to find a spot.Overall, this hotel provides the best value and nice experience! Wed like to thank the staff!
I wish I had spent more money and stayed somewhere else cleaner. Breakfast was excellent along with the service of the food services lady. The floors in the actual room were filthy and one of our beds had dirty sheets on it. This could be a great hotel if there was some quality control for the cleaning service staff and proper maintenance maintained in the rooms.
Super convenient to get downtown! The hotel is LOUD on the weekends due to the bar next door. The A/C unit also sounds like an 18 wheeler coming in and out of your room all night. But once you get used to it the sound becomes white noise. Breakfast was good. The kids LOVED the pancake maker!!!
This is one of the best hotels Ive stayed. From our entrance everything was perfect. We were greeted, and we promptly able to check into our room. The king suite was like an apartment. The bed was extremely comfortable. The room was very clean. We utilized the fitness center, which had everything you need for a good workout. Breakfast was plentiful and constantly being restocked. We will seek out more Holiday Inn Express chains in the future.
The rooms are very nice with a nice television with good channels. Staff is very nice, room service is amazing. The pillows and blankets make sleep extra good due to how comfortable they are, the pillows feel like clouds. My over all stay had been enjoyable, hope to stay here again soon.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The first employee we spoke with was extra helpful finding out about pool conditions (January in Texas with an outdoor pool is a little iffy) and we had a great chat. The hotel was very clean and the beds were super soft. The BEST part was the pillows. Ive never slept on such a soft pillow. I wanted take one home! My only note is that the breakfast was the same thing you get at just about every hotel these days, bland, boring, and generally unhealthy. Our whole family had a great stay and we will stay there again next time we visit San Antionio!
While the hotel was conviently close to the river walk and provided free parking, it also has its drawbacks of its location one being the all night noise of police, fire and ambulance sirens not to mention the in room air conditioning unit sounding like a muffled jack hammer or the untimely early morning roof repair right above our room. Speaking of room, the entire hotel needs updating and renovation. The staff was very friendly and accommodating however, the cleaning staff missed our room 1 day and didn’t come to clean until 3pm the next day. I would say the cons outweighs the pros and I would NOT recommend this location.
There is a bar next door and if your room is on that side of the hotel, you will hear LOUD music until after 1:30 am. It sounded like the music and DJ were IN my hotel room and I wasnt even standing close to the window---I took a video so I have a record of the loudness. Hotel clerk didnt seem to care much and said there were no rooms for me to move to. My Rewards Club status wasnt worth anything! Even with the A/C fan on and soft music on my phone, I couldnt go to sleep until after 1:30 am. It was a horrible experience. Any place has to be better than this!!!
For the price, this hotel was good. It is approximately 1 mile from the River Walk, but since we arrived at night, we did not walk there. There is a motorcycle club across the street from the hotel and that may throw some people off, but it was quiet after 10pm. Had a few minor room issues that I reported at checkout and the girl said she would pass them along but overall it was a nice hotel for the price. Lady who checked me in could have been more professional, she was on the phone with what appeared to be a personal call and made no effort to put it on hold or acknowledge me until she was done, she was nice enough, just not what I have grown to expect from IHG properties. Checkout girls were very friendly and overall it was a good stay.
My husband and I had a great customer service experience for finding an affordable hotel and near to our destination. We loved how friendly and efficient the staff conducted themselves while we were checking in. They made our stay enjoyable! I will highly recommend our friends and family to become customers for life like us; and enjoy the great service we had while visiting San Antonio! Thank you to the staff at Holiday Inn for the great experience in San Antonio near the riverwalk! You made our stay the best we’ve ever had!
Ill start off by saying Ive traveled all over the country to Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Expresss for business. And Im a Spire Elite member. So I guess one might say Im somewhat qualified to speak to what a good stay is as opposed to a terrible stay.Pros- Sadly only 1 pro for me about this hotel. The morning staff was fantastic and helpful.Cons-Check in, the person on staff at 2AM (We our flight was delayed due to equipment issues) was less than pleasant. Asked rudely if we had reservations and didnt even acknowledge the fact that we were club members.-Bathroom was filthy. Hair everywhere and the bathtub wouldnt even drain water because the drain was so plugged up with black gunk that I wouldnt even step foot in it.-Sheet rock debris all over the carpet. Clearly this hotel was under construction which is fine but if you are going to check someone into a room make sure it isnt one still being worked on.-The room overall had a sense of uncleanliness. There was only shampoo in the room no conditioner and not a single bar of soap to be found. These are little petty things I know but they are what Ive come to expect out of this brand of hotel.I was staying with two other friends and their rooms had similar issues like construction tools still in the room on the counters but Ill let them make their own refuse if they choose to do so. The overall experience was so Poor that we decided to check out of the hotel and
I stayed here for 4 days. The room was perfect. Way bigger than I expected as the pictures dont do the room justice. Onsite amenities- pool, hot tub and gym. And the location is great. Its close to downtown. All the staff that I interacted with was friendly and professional. Id definitely stay there again
Everything was great from hotel, rooms beds parking front desk .Really close to Market area walking distance, minutes away from Downtown/Riverwalk very short drive. Very happy with our stay rooms were very clean and comfortable. Only bad thing is that the room above had a kid running around since we checked in until next day that we checked out, notified front desk, but problem never stopped. Every thing else was great from hotel. Hopefully hotel considers putting guest with small children on first floor so the noise wont be as disturbing when other guest are trying to relax from their drive, or long day.
My family and I arrived during the late night/early morning exhausted from a long drive. The staff was friendly and helpful and made us feel right at home. We were in our room quickly and the friendly staff continued throughout our entire visit. The room was good for the price and even thou the area was not the best being inside our room you feel that you are in the best part of town. Breakfast was the normal fake eggs and items such as that, but the cinnamon rolls are fantastic!! I would recommend this property to family and friends!
A very clean hotel and that stems from the staff taking a lot of pride in their work. The staff was very friendly and helpful—you can tell they take care of the little things that adds up to making a great stay. I was there for 4 nights and every day someone was always cleaning — this included the elevator, baseboards in the hallways, and things around the outside of the hotel. The front desk staff (all of them) was exceptional!!If there was anything to be of concern is the very loud ‘club’/bar that sits behind the hotel. On Friday and Saturday nights the club plays VERY loud music until midnight. There’s nothing the hotel can do as the city allows the music until midnight. It is loud and is disturbing. The breakfast is always good- one morning the breakfast didn’t have the cinnamon rolls which are a staple HI Express. People hoard food by taking tray loads to their room. Otherwise the lady who worked the breakfast area is a very hard worker who really takes pride in her area!
I liked the design layout of the rooms. Very clean minimalist and easy access to power plugs. Great design. The bathroom totally destroyed the stay. We saw a roach (thankfully dead) in the light fixture, and the tub looked very disgusting with whatever they tried coating it with. The bathroom was not acceptable. The room looked like it had a decent makeover and if I remember that is what it looked like a few years ago when I was there. However the restroom needs a good makeover now.

2022-01-15Not what expect from a Holiday Inn Express. This property suffers from deferred maintenance. It is noisy and unsafe. The bathroom has some repairs on the ceiling that are incomplete. The tub is dirty. The shower curtain is worn and tattered. Our room is on the ground floor and the window doesnt close properly and doesnt lock. The wind is blowing in around the edges. The door does not fit into the door frame properly. We can see into the hallway with the door closed. Not the worst hotel I have ever experienced, but probably the most expensive dump I have ever rented.

2022-06-03This location is pretty rough. Our initial room was very hot, the fridge didn’t work and the carpet was sticky. However the manager was able to accommodate us and move us to another room and he gave us excellent customer service. The second room was much better. Overall the hotel just needs a little better cleaning and maintenance.

2022-06-26I paid a little over $230 for a 1 night stay here with a king size bed. We had an ADA Modified room since that was the only one available which I didn’t mind, however when the man was explaining this to me he also let me know that the blinds in the bedroom were automatic and they had lost the remote to them. Once we got to the room we discovered that the remote to the blinds was in fact missing along with the remote to the tv in the small living room area. The light also did not work in the living room area. I’ve stayed at other Holiday Inns before and this was the worst. Also, after swimming, we went up to the room and our room key no longer worked so we had to go back to the front desk and get two new keys. While walking back to the room we discovered another man having the same issue. They also left their laundry/utility room doors wide open to see all of the dirty laundry and vacuum cleaner. Also, the parking here sucks. We will not be returning to this location.

2022-04-28After checking in to our room. My spouse and I got ready to go out for a while. We noticed that our restroom had major damage and took pictures to report to customer service in the front desk.Customer service front desk clerk made it seem that it was not important. Telling us that it was wear and tear. He had a bad attitude and was rude to us by the way he spoke to us after mentioning that we should get some sort of credit adjustment for the condition of the room. This happened April 23rd at approximately 11:15pmI did remind the lady in the front desk in the morning as I was checking out and she mentioned that this was going to be addressed with the manager and call me to talk. I have not received a phone call as of today. 2/28/2022

2022-05-27The location is not bad as far being close to many of the attractions. The bar across the street was quite loud even though we were on the opposite side of the hotel, but it closed down around midnight I think, or thats when the music stopped ,so at least its not all night. The neighborhood is definitely a transitional neighborhood, where you can tell which houses are being rented out for vacationers versus the others. The rooms and overall condition of the hotel is a little rough. The couches definitely need to be cleaned in the room. You can tell is mostly good enough work being done and not the cleanest for sure. I wouldnt recommend it to friends and wont choose this location in the future for myself.

2022-06-30The facility was way below average or I would say poor, Paint was peeling off from different areas. Breakfast area was too congested but breakfast was good. Some of the front desk (man) was pretty rude to the customers. Room quality was average, door was not properly locked and was damaged as well. the sink was in the room instead of in the bathroom, after doing your business you need to come out with dirty hands and wash it sink which is in the bedroom. Beddings were pretty old which you can tell by touching them that they have been washed 10,000 timesSurrounding of hotel was not pleasant, family should avoid going out in the dark/night time, right behind the hotel there is a open bar where all the bikers were parking and playing the loud music so it is impossible to have pleasant/comfortable night sleepI would rate 2 star just because of breakfast was good otherwise it is not recommended for families with younger kids

2022-03-14Positive: Nothing at all Negative: There was hair in the shower and sink. The toilet water ran all night long. The hotel check-in staff barely talked and was really low. The selection of breakfast itemsthatI normally get at Holiday Inn Express and Suites are better than this. Will not retu

2021-12-14Road trip to SA led my family & I to this location. The pictures were very deceiving, the rooms looked nothing like the professional photos taken. We got there to check-in at 3pm. The front desk lobby was dark and gave a creepy vibe. My kids were so excited to get away until they walked in there. Paid over $230 for one night, which in my opinion wasn’t worth it. There’s a bar right next door that played music all night which oddly gave me some kind of comfort being there. I chose this place because it was within my budget, but realized you get what you pay for. This area was still 9min away from the Riverwalk. Breakfast was a plus, but not exactly like the photos on here. Choose wisely!

2022-06-16Quick check in and great price. Service is not good at all. They had 3 towels for 6 people and when we asked for more they said they were out! Also, breakfast choices were most out about thirty minutes before breakfast time was up.

2022-02-06Dave was a very helpful and knowledgeable concierge/front desk person. Parking was easy and close. Breakfast was very impressive. Wasnt expecting such choices and conscious packaging of food próduçts.
