Ordered chicken enchiladas and fajita steak enchiladas. Enchiladas were pre made and served warm. Floor was dirty with crumbled chips under tables. Menus had dried salsa on them The food has been great in the past, but has been going down hill in the last several months.
The food here is absolute garbage. The restaurant itself is very nice and the waitstaff was pretty friendly, but that doesnt make a difference after you try the food. If I could give zero stars, I would. Save yourself the time and money and go literally ANYWHERE ELSE.
So disappointed with food and restaurant cleanliness. This has been one of our favorite places to eat in the past. Today the food was below par and tasted like it had been sitting around for hours. The floors were dirty and we did not see any of the staff attempting to clean up. No complaints in regards to our waiter.
Great Salsa & Chips, great food and delicious frozen margaritas. Not sure why the on the rocks dont taste the same but great place for Mexican food. Warning, if easily offended, potties say..... Balls for Mens room and NO Balls for ladies. Have to accept the humor if ya want great food n service.
Stopped in today for the first time ordered the barbacoa street taco plate and it is delish! The beans have a good flavor and the tacos are filled with meat - not all skimpy like some places.
I love the staff. They remember you and always act happy to see you. The food is awesome. I always come here whenever Im in town. I have to get my TexMex fix while Im in Texas.
The food is amazing but the service is laughable, especially with the male servers. It’s as if someone with no serving experience trained the other servers, it’s the blind leading the blind. However! We will continue to return because we think the food is worth it, until the services becomes too unbearable, which we’re hanging on by a thread…by the way, we’ve now been there four times and each time…well you get the point….
Great atmosphere and beautiful building. Food was great. Service is good but very attentive which becomes annoying to me. I didnt really care for the check being electronic as the waitress waits for you to pay as they stand there. I felt rushed to get you in and out not allowing to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Id definitely switch to a paper ticket for your bill.Id definitely come back and im looking forward to the newness wearing off of the staff. I do appreciate good service but it felt overwhelming at times.
Well took 30 mins waiting for table. Then another hour for food to arrive after being seated. At one point none of the tables had other than appetizers. Asked waitress who replied our head cook is not hear today. I’d say you need another head cook. Food was ok but some of it was cold.
2 groups of people waited to be seated for 15min. A third group came in as i was walking out..2 Waitresses looked at us n didnt Acknowledge any of us. It wasnt even that busy and its not the firat time people waiting to be seated were ignored

Had dinner here for the first time, tonight (23 July). IT WAS WONDERFUL!It was crowded so we sat at the bar, my husband and I. Our bartender/waiter, Davis was knowledgeable, witty, charming and good at his job. Both bartenders were incredibly busy. However, both were attentive and so welcoming. The food was amazing. Some of the best fajitas weve ever had! Just enough for 2!Really enjoyed this experience!

My husband and I went for dinner. We ordered the Superior Plate. It has two enchiladas (we had beef), one brisket tamal, one beef taco, rice, and beans. We shared the plate and got two charro beans instead of the rice. Everything was delicious!! It was just enough food for the both of us. The place is new and beautiful. The service was excellent!! We got seated right away; the chips and salsa were on our table as soon as we sat down; and our order was taken soon after. It took no more than 10 minutes for our food to come out. We will definitely be going back. 👍👍😁

And you Mexican restaurant just opened up recently. Their environment is festive and unique. The food brats pretty decent we had the fajitas chicken fajitas and there were good. Big tequila selection bar staff is hit on the ball getting drinks how quickly. Restaurant struggling like everybody else to get waitresses and help but they did a good job attending to the customers. Will be eating there again to give him a second chance.

The food at La Mesa is amazing. Davis, Hayden, Dustie, Justin, Emily, Megan and Lucas are amazing. Joshua is lucky to have the staff at La Mesa. From the food to the desserts (fried ice cream - the bomb) are amazing. I have tried everything on the menu and never had anything bad. Keep up the good work and thank you for the amazing food.
I’ve been several times and have never been disappointed. Their queso is great! The chips are light and fresh. Taquito were the best I’ve had. Chimi and enchiladas are awesome too! Portions are generous!
Steak Fajitas are perfection, salsa is amazing, and margarita was delicious. The menu is massive and the atmosphere is very nice. If you havent been youre in for a real treat. My only compliant is that I dont live closer 😂
Great sweet tea, Chicken Taco El Carbon had too much cheese, but after taking off the excess, the taco tasted fine. The Burroto beans had a different flavor than Charro beans, eaten elsewhere. Great atmosphere and roomy table areas. Can even eat by the windows where you can be seated in high bar chairs and table. Plenty of outside parking with some handicap spots. The bathrooms could be attended more in their cleanliness. Plan on bringing friends for lunch and obtain their comments. It would be nice if there was at least one or two vegan menu items, but I had bean and rice on whole wheat tortillas for $6. No one was wearing masks in the restaurant at the time. Staff were friendly and courteous. Checkout through the waitress was quick and easy.
Horrible service. Waitress was pleasant. 1hr from order placed until food was at the table. Food was cold Waitress took back returned with the food remake still cold. Manager comes to remake food for a 3rd time and she returned with cold food and wrong order from what my wife ordered. I was still dedicated to eating at the restaurant for our food blog. But luck would have it. The manager decided to comp our check of $0.00 we had only ordered Water at this point. And tell us she was sorry for the inconvenience. We went on a Thursday at 4:05 and caught the happy hour so my beer was only $3.75 for 22 oz. Cold beer. My husband and I shared some chicken Fajitas.

This is a cute place but the execution is terrible. Beef enchiladas way to spicy. The Chicken Enchiladas was probably the best out of all our meals. The beef fajitas had heavy char on them to the point of them being bitter. I never had mesquite beef fajitas be bitter before. The marinade or seasoning they had on the fajitas was very weak tasting. The other table next to us had fajitas that were mostly gray looking. The blue light at the bar was to bright and really hard on the eyes. Also something I never seen before they turn the lights up full bright at night. Normally lights go darker at night but not here. Also it took what seem like a very long time for our food to come out. The salsa was on the watery side and the chips could be a lot thicker. This place could benefit using carpet in various places to help dampen the sound of the place. This place could really benefit from re-assessing their current recipes and making significant modifications.
This was our 1st time to eat here. Our Server was friendly & knowledgeable. Margarita, enchiladas, chips, salsa, & corn tortillas were great. Rice was dry. Boracho beans didnt have enough liquid. They were more like refried beans, which I dont like.
First time visit and we will be coming back. Service was great. We had the steak nachos and brisket street tacos which were both fantastic. If on the fence then you should go. I read some reviews describing a wait and knocking the restaurant for that... Come on. Go and support a local spot with great food.
I stopped there for a to go meal today and what a pleasant surprise. Your restaurant is very nice and all of the staff are very cordial and helpful. I enjoyed my wait while waiting for my food order. Their chicken quesadillas are frickin amazing. And their deep fried ice cream is the bomb.
My food was so cold...I paid 14.75 for an appetizer plate..had alot of food but ot didnt have much taste.i did like their salsa.First batch of chips was really good.sec batch was dripping oil.I will give it one more try because theyre newTried it again,It was good.So packed we sat at the bar...but i didnt mind..it was good food this time around.

Expensive and not a very original menu. Bonus points for the Slow Burn margarita, which is probably the most original and tastiest thing on the menu (otherwise Id give 3 stars).
Great place and the food was delicious. The host greeted us with a smile and was enthused and prompt in getting us a table during their high peak time. Addy was our server and was very friendly. Excellent service. We recommend this place if you want good tasting, quality tex-mex and great customer service.
Worked all day in the yard and wanted a good meal for take out so we decided to try La Mesa. Great choice. Staff was efficient and friendly, the beef enchiladas and fajita chimi were delicious! Loved the rice and refried beans and the Mexican street corn, yum! Enjoyed the tortilla soup too! Look forward to dining in soon, beautiful decor.
Wasnt the worst we had. The wife had the chicken enchiladas wich was dry and tough. I had the beef fajitas wich was charred heavily. Saving grace was the 12 dollar margarita and our server got rhe job done. Probably try it again later. I know its a new place.
Way to expensive the food was horrible the brisket was so tuff we couldnt chew it there was 2 adults a2 year old and 10 year old and our check was $73. Never again. The waitress was nice that was the best part of lunch.

Nadina was absolutely amazing and she make one of the best Micheladas Ive ever had. Amazing service and great food. Definitely reccomend THE WHOLE MENU. But the street tacos and chicken fijita salad were awesome. And ask it to be in shell.....wow ... we give it a TEN. A TEN... enjoy your meal we know we did.
OK after a shaky start the food made up for the slow service. I think once they get the kinks worked out this will be a place where waiting 30 minutes or more will be worth it. I suggest they take out some of the 6 toppers and add more 4 toppers. That should speed the waits up a little.

Went there on Saturday night (July 10). We walked in at 9:12 and sat at the bar. We ordered one drink each and placed a order to go. Our service was terrible. The young man who waited on us made it clear that he was annoyed that we showed up 48 minutes before closing. This was our 3rd visit and it will be our last.
Great food, great staff, great service. We will be back soon. The La Mesa Burrito and top shelf Margarita is my # 1 recommendation but I will assure you its all good.

Well, first time here and a little disappointed with the chicken fajitas. For some reason the meat was really over salted to the point it was all you could taste. Since they’re local we’ll probably visit and try again? Maybe it was an off-day for the kitchen. Hopefully it was.

Went to try this place out today, got on list for a 45 minute wait. Went to the bar to get a drink, while waiting for said drink order they go outside and call my name (I didn’t respond obviously, due to being at bar) get told by hostess that manager said since I missed my name being called I was going to the back of the list again 45 minutes. Goose here. Brand new restaurant in Joshua, TX. Amazing food and service and the staff treated the Goose here well. Even though theyre brand new, the wait time was only 30 min and the food was delicious. Goose, out.

2022-02-27Amazing food, that is fresh and authentic!! This is absolutely some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever eaten. And our waitress, Taryn, was fantastic! We could not have asked for better service!! We’ve been back twice since the first review - I’m addicted!! I have to eat there at least once a week. But we tried the fajitas fundido, and I added a photo. Phenomenal!!

2022-04-08My family recently moved to this area from San Marcos Tx, and being from around San Antonio and Austin we are used to having really good mexican food. I moved up here and tried a few different places, only to be disappointed by the lack of flavor. La Mesa changed that, their food is wonderful and full of authentic flavor and the plates had plenty of food. Me and my both had the chile relleno, and it was great. We both left full and very happy that there is actually a good mexican resteraunt near our new home.

2022-06-25I see many good reviews, I stopped by earlier today with my daughter and grandson. Many available tables, it two people to get us a table. Thats not a problem. The problem was no service. They were not busy at all, after 10 minutes we just left. At least they didnt have any dishes to wash from us.At least put a glass of water when you seat someone.

2021-04-22Been here twice already since they opened 3 weeks ago and let me tell you for a Joshua restaurant, im glad its here! Delicious food both times, chips and salsa are yummy, staff who are super friendly especially our 2nd time Addie, and they are quick to check up on you! 04/21/21 it was very busy, but got our food In a decent time. They are still working out everything but the food has yet to disappoint! **Will post pictures below** I would recommend, the food is great and its also convenient! Dont have to go far to get great Mexican food anymore!

2022-05-06Food is ok. Service was good until we had to ask multiple times for drinks and tortillas. We did have a big party. Way to loud, couldnt have a conversation without repeating yourself. Hot sauce was awesome!!
