If you want to be appreciated and treated like a valued guest, stay here! best staff and best service in McAllen. Super friendly and attentive to your needs. Rooms are well maintained and very clean. Breakfast is great too. Super location in the heart of McAllen. Easy walk to HEB.
Very nice, clean hotel. The rooms are spacious. I loved the full size refrigerator and kitchen area. The shower was also very nice. They had free breakfast with a nice variety. The pool and gym was also nice and clean. The staff was friendly. They are also dog friendly. There is a fee to bring your dogs. My only complaint is the bed was not as comfortable as I had hoped. But overall this is a very nice hotel.
I came here to relax but i couldnt get any sleep due to the loud colors in the room. my room also smelled like baby powder and old grandma and was not a very good combination. the food looked as though it came out of an easy bake oven. my Netflix didnt work either and the tables were uncomfortable to stand on. on the bright side, i enjoyed the complimentary plates and blankets, i use them till this day
I have stayed at this hotel in the course of my work duties and it is hit or miss how the staff present themselves. Somedays they are pleasant and some they are rude. Additionally, I have ALWAYS had issues making reservations. When I call and tell them my organization/company has a direct bill/credit card on file they MUST send me to the Director of Sales who may or may not answer the phone or be in the office. As this is a busy hotel they may have a vacany one minute and no vacancy the next leaving me with no time to wait for someone to call me back. EVERY other hotel, many of the Residence Inns, that have our direct bill on file make the reservation when I call the front desk and have access to our organizations direct bill. Per the front desk manager who accused me of being rude because he didnt like the questions I was asking trying to understand stated that is his General Managers. Monica Licea, policy. Why is her policy different then other Residence Inns and why is her staff so unpleasant? Usually that starts from the top and with her because this policy is not customer friendly.
This was my third stay at RI McAllen for a two month duration each time and this hotel was absolutely perfect. The rooms were always clean and well appointed. The hot breakfast options and weekday bites in the lobby were very enjoyable and had variety. AND the staff... cant say enough good things about how professional and kind the staff have been the last three years. After a long hot day with work, the familiar faces of this hotels staff make the environment seem less like a hotel and more like friends and neighbors. This cant be written without mentions of Lupita preparing the food each day and agreeting you with a friendly smile each morning. Speaking to Diana and Monica making sure that everything is perfect with our stay. Abraham always having great conversation and recommendations for food/how to enjoy the area and Chris and Yaneli just to name a few more that make this amazing staff. Thank you all for everything you do and making this hotel excellent!
They advertise a fireplace in the two bedroom. What they dont tell you is that it hasnt worked in years & probably never will. The gm words were. . This property is old. You had heat & water so theres nothing I can do about a fireplace. I couldve had heat & water on those days at 10 other hotels too. I chose Residence specifically for the fireplace. Very deceptive & rude.
Traveling with a family, booked a two bedroom suite (room 311) - it was very quiet and comfortable. Well done remodel. The room was very clean, and well stocked. Everything worked in the room, and beds were very comfy. I would prefer a king bed in one of the two bedrooms, but that is a preference, not a requirement. Some pluses of this hotel: staff, very nice. Location - it literally shares a parking lot with a large grocery store, its very easy to walk over and pick up supplies / groceries, but the hotel lot and grocery lot are slightly offset, so there is no noise or additional traffic around the actual hotel. It also has an Olive Garden that is next to the grocery (so you dont have to drive), and a number of good restaurants around that are within easy driving distance. Breakfast was less extensive than at some other Residence Inns, but the hot food was hot and the staff kept everything well stocked. The breakfast area was kept spotless as well! The only con was already shared - no king bed.
This is the second time I have stayed here. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Front desk takes the time to learn your name and remember it. Breakfast and week night mixer food is delicious. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Plus it is so convenient to have a grocery store in the parking lot and 5 minutes from the airport.
The hotel is sandwiched by an ongoing construction project right now, making it rather noisy during the day. Staff is excellent and accommodating. The rooms are large and spacious, but the furniture is dated and well worn. Breakfast is decent and dinner is sufficient as well. Great value for the money.
Edit: we did end up moving to another room and it was an upgrade and the service was impeccable. Abraham is an awesome addition to the staff and always tries to bend over backwards to take care of anything you need. We WILL be going back This weekend! This visit was pretty good. I called ahead to say I was bringing a disabled vet and would need a room near an entrance and on the first floor. They put us right next to the side entrance... No handicap parking space or ramp at that entrance. Went to the manager and he immediately offered a different room and offered to come move everything from the first room to the second room and apologized profusely. We accepted the first room as my brother, after a very long drive, was in too much pain to move again. Next time i will ask for a handicap accessible room. The staff was polite, breakfast was good, coffee was hot and i do love the kitchenette and the private bedroom. We will stay here again
The staff was over the top! Most hotels seem as though the staff is just there in case of a need but this was not the case. The nightly mixer with drinks and appetizers was a different experience and rather than having to go out and mess with finding a restaurant and traffic I was able to partake at the hotel which was nice. Long day followed by a cold beer or glass of wine when you walk into the hotel was perfect and the staff actually would sit and socialize by the fire pit outside and actually get to know the guests. I will say that the rooms were what you would expect for the price. Nothing was really over the top and much of the room had an appearance of being outdated but if your traveling and looking for a relaxing environment with friendly staff I would definitely recommend it.
We stayed at the Residence Inn McAllen on a quick weekend getaway to attend my husbands granddaughters 5th birthday party. We booked a Presidential Suite because we wanted to have our adult daughter stay with us, but still give us the privacy of having our own private bedroom and bathroom, while she had her own space as well. The suite was very well suited for us and was very clean and in good condition. We ended up getting into town early and we were permitted to check into the hotel 4 hours early with no fees being imposed, which we appreciated very much. The quality of the breakfast was acceptable, and the hours that breakfast was offered were perfect for us. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to town to see our relatives.
Had a month long business trip and staying at the Marriott Residence Inn made it as enjoyable as possible. Having a grocery store next door was very convient. There were a wide variety of dining experiences all very near. The staff was helpful and friendly, meeting every need quickly.
My family and I stayed a total of 77 nights at this hotel ... All the staff made us feel so right at home. from the housekeeper to the Assistant general manager , Alejandra they were always with a smile. happy hour was always a look forward to...the food was so good! all in all it was a great stay! my children miss it!!! definitely going back on of these days just for the fun of it!
Truly a great staff that tries to please all client concerns, creating a friend or family atmosphere.Great Administrative staff plus great support staff from front desk to Dining staff to cleaning staff to van Driver.GM as learned most basic lesson of excellent management. Hire the best people, and have the best organization.
I dont usually write reviews unless it is truly warranted and I have to say this stay at the Residence Inn Marriott was truly amazing. I cant believe how helpful and friendly the staff was. From the moment I arrived to the moment I left I could not ask for such amazing service. They went above and beyond to make sure I was always comfortable. Shuttle was provided quickly when needed and the driver was also very friendly and drove responsibly. I will never stay anywhere but at a Residence Inn Marriott whenever possible. They have truly set the bar for what to expect at a hotel.
The internet was terribly slow. My wife was working remotely and continually had connection issues. This effected her work. The speed test for the internet repeatedly showed a download speed around 3mbps. A cell phone data connection is literally much much faster. This is sad for a hotel. Especially sad for a hotel branded with the Marriott flag. The internet was so bad that the YouTube, HBO, etc other apps on TV would continually freeze or error out as well. Business travelers need to be made aware.
This is a well managed Marriott Residence Inn. Professional and polite staff. Easy check in and out. Great hot breakfast and nice dining and lobby area. This will be our go to place to stay while visiting McAllen. Shout out to Abraham at the front desk for excellent customer service.
The hotel was nice and maintained well. There was construction so things were a bit messy at times. The staff was great and I loved the free breakfast and evening receptions. The people above me were a bit loud and the AC had to be either on or off (no setting kept it comfortable), but everything else was enjoyable. The hotel shared a parking lot with HEB, how much better can it get for an extended stay hotel?!?
Was very accommodating. Very neat and up to date. We did bring our pet which they allowed so I was expecting a not so nice room but was pleasantly surprised! Pool was nice and clean, perfect for the weather. Breakfast area was cozy and each day was a different option for food. Was glad we stayed here.
Proud to say that Ive been working here for over 2 years with such a great staff and awesome co-workers.We take so much pride in providing the best of customer service to each and everyone of our guests, with so much personal attention and detail.Whether on business or leisure youre always welcomed to come and experience simply the best in lodging.Hot Breakfast each and every morning and our Residence Mix with food and drinks Monday thru Wednesday.See You Soon!
This is my second time staying here. I think the first time I stayed the staff was more attentive and friendly. Ive been an Marriott Elite member and Marriott Platinum Elite credit card holder for about two years now, for some reason this hotel doesnt take the time to thank you for your Elite status, or give you a little welcome bag like other Marriotts do. Im always getting emails about extended priority late check out, so I decided to give it a shot this time. I needed to finish up seeing some of my family members, picking up my dad to go to cemetery to see my mom, and wanted to leave my bags in the room for a few hours while I was out and about, I thought maybe the guy would give me an extra 2-3 hours, instead he says check out is 12pm, I can give you to 1pm. Im like really? One hour more... Somethings not right here, but I said I would take the extra hour since I really needed it. Overall the room was decent, I think after the remodel job, it will be a lot better and nicer. The room and carpet really need an upgrade. I stay here for convenience rather than service, I dont expect top notch service at this hotel for some odd reason.
I have stayed at this Residence Inn twice for business. It has a very convenient location close to I-2, shopping and restaurants, and the service is great. Very comfortable rooms/beds. My trips have only been a couple of nights, but if I had to stay longer, I would definitely take advantage of the HEB across the parking lot and cook/grill my own food. Nice option and it saves a lot of money from eating out.
Couldn’t ask for a better family oriented hotel with incredibly well equipped kitchen. Location puts you across the street from a major hospital next to shopping and restaurants galore. And can’t beat being next to HEB (grocery store) to get things to make or store in your kitchen. Incredible experience for a family with an infant!!
We always look forward to staying at the Residence Inn Marriott in McAllen. The staff make us feel like they know us and always welcome us to the hotel. The new decor is simply beautiful and very comfortable. We love happy hour. I think grilled hamburger night is one of our favorites. Two things that are most important to us, a safe place to stay and a good night sleep. We have always found this at the hotel.
I recently checked into you hotel and I must say that I am less than pleased with Abraham at your front desk. As a Titanium Elite Member, it is obvious I stay in Marriott Hotels quite often. I must say I have never enter a Marriott Hotel where I was not greeted by the front desk as soon as I walked in the door of a Marriott Hotel . Upon our arrival, Abraham never greeted us. I had to tell him, I would like to check in please. He asked for my name, handed me 1 set of keys. I then explained that I had 3 rooms. He then handed me another set of keys and then had to make another set. Again, never once talking to me except to ask for a CC for incidentals. He never told us what direction our rooms were located or where the elevator was located at. When I asked him if he would like to know if I wanted points or a market item (which is a benefit) He said “oh, well you checked in online. So he still never asked me what reward benefit I would like. Never once was I thanked for being a Titanium Elite Member. I have never NOT been thanked by a Marriott Associate for being a Marriott Member regardless of what status I was at… NEVER!!!Then I get to my room(114) and there is a maintenance man working on the shower. I walked back down to the lobby and ask Abraham why there was someone working on the shower and he replied “Well is there something wrong with it?” To which I replied “I would assume that since someone is working on it that there is something wrong with it. But why don’t you tell me that since you work here and I don’t.”I then asked him if I just needed to reach out to you and he said “ I don’t see why you need to do that.” I then proceeded to tell him that as a Marriott Rewards member I have NEVER had such rude and poor customer service. He literally stood there are shrugged his shoulders. Monica, In all my years of business and personal travel with Marriott, I have never seen such rudeness from Marriott. I am surely hoping this is an isolated incident and not indicative of the overall customer service at this hotel.
I got personal attention by staff and general manager! even a follow up call as to how was my stay going! during happy hour, I think I was served the best burger ever! and most of all, FREE!! walking in and out was always pleasant as I always got greeted by friendly staff!! I will definitely book Residence Inn again....
Enjoyed our weekend stay here! Just remodeled, looks great, and the staff was very friendly. (Thanks Robert for a warm welcome! ) Walking distance to HEB supermarket, so groceries are no problem OR Olive Garden is also right next door. Right off of Hwy 83, minutes to anywhere in the McAllen and Mission area
Pros: Location - near the freeway and various restaurants and within walking distance to HEB grocery store. Staff - extremely friendly and helpful. Cons: While furnishings appeared modern, they were merely a facade. Bathroom walls, tile, grout, and ceiling apeared moldy and dated. Carpet in rooms and living area was stained and dingy. The AC in rooms was inconsistent; one room would be freezing while the other was warm and muggy. Finally the breakfast was ok but lacked fresh fruit. The only fruit option was cantaloupe, which wasnt ready by the time we came down to eat (7:30am). Would have loved bananas and strawberries or oranges. Overall, not the Marriott standard to which we have grown accustomed. There are better options in the area.
Feels like you are at home. Loved having the HEB grocery store next to the hotel with a gas station and ability to walk back and forth. A way to walk to the Olive Garden behind us would have been great but a quick drive around the block was easy enough. Very enjoyable overall experience and the extra items in the kitchen were GREAT!
I enjoyed staying at this location, The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast area was very clean and you get a variety of choices. I also like that they serve breakfast until ten other hotels usually only serve for two hours. It is close to shopping centers, restaurants and the airport. The bed in my room was extremely comfortable, I was very happy with my room.
Had a lovely nights stay, had some issues with the reservation that went unsolved, ice cold shower and incredibly scratchy towells. However breakfast was delicious, the beds were extremely comfy and it was very clean. I would definitely stay here again if I were in the area.
Although the facility and staff are nice, I found out a week later that they failed to post my points to my account. The receipt clearly had my member number so there was a problem in the back in. When I called the service center acknowledge that there was a mistake but they would not post the points until I called a separate location. This is a big fail the Marriott part if maryann. failed to post my points and legitimate state they should rectify it with one call. I still don’t have the points for five nights posted my account.
Nice property, but it appears they dont communicate with Bonvoy so any online request made be sure and confirm during check in. My family and I requested a 4pm checkout and the hotel property apparently never received the request. We had maids coming in as well as getting the Televisions shut off multiple times.
This is a great place for us in McAllen. The location is very good and there is a nice supermarket next door.We like the Residence Inn setup with nice size room & kitchen area. Also the separate room and living area are a great plus, very comfortable.Staff is very helpful.
After staying at this location four separate times, each visit had issues. Dirty stained carpets, flaking ceilings, loud & noisy experience. The location is difficult to find with only one way in and one way out and the landscaping is bad.Trees at the back corner of the building brush up against the walls generating noise at night due to wind, which prevents peaceful sleep.-The workout facility is nice and comfortable.-The staff is very friendly, but they have very little to work with at this location.
Easy access to the LRGV. Spacious suites. Competent and helpful staff is helpful. Parking/location is a little tight tucked into a busy neighborhood that includes HEB for great in-room or on-the-road eating. Many breakfast food choices mean youll find what you like and be off to a good start each day. Evening socials provided tasty treats and a chance to meet people, or not, as you choose.
I continue to have excellent experiences while staying at the Residence Inn McAllen, TX! The staff is outstanding, and highly appreciated! I will continue to return to this hotel solely based on its staff and their go above and beyond attitude! Thank you for making my stay comfortable and relaxing!!
Toilet was clogged and wouldnt flush when I first arrived. It was quickly fixed. Tub was clogged and would hold water up to ankles.Bed was very uncomfortable and I slept in a V form from head to toe.Ironing board was crooked and crickety. Quality was less than that of a Marriott hotel.
I have been blessed in my stays at this location. I am a Gold reward member and stay at numerous Marriott properties. Of all my stays in Residence Inns; this one in McAllen has been my most enjoyable and pleasurable stay. I have considered this location as my home away from home Thanks to all working team associates.
I recently stayed at the Residence Inn McAllen for three months. The staff was friendly and accommodating, the bed comfortable, and the room quiet. Though I dont eat meat, the breakfast bar always had freshly-cut fruit every morning which I enjoyed, as well as an occasional Belgian waffle and yogurt.
I hate this stupid hotel! Im booked here for 3 weeks for work and wish I was home already. Its been storming a lot since Ive been here and 4 different nights the fire alarm has gone off at like 4am. One night it went off twice.. As I write this review it is currently storming and the cable no longer works and oh, there goes the firm alarm again!I can get past the outdated furniture, stained carpets/bed skirts and small pool but not being able to get sleep is not ok. If you stay here make sure its during good weather!
When I arrived they told me my room was taken for another person so they game me two different rooms. They told me the next day that my room would be available. The next day it took quite long so they could give me my new room. In total I lost 3 hours from that day in the changing of room. Also the new room was very hot.
My overall stay was good. There were a few things that were addressed while staying. I had to complain a couple of times about the shower head water pressure before they decided to replace it. Hotel staff said the cause was the construction next to the hotel. After replacing the shower head the water pressure was increased dramatically.
I like the fact that the hotel was located in a good area that had access to the major roads, expressway, and food store (you could walk to HEB) and restaurants. The staff were friendly and professional; the room quiet, and it had a stove, microwave, and refrigerator.
Rude male front desk staff. Corporate, if youre listening, you should let him go. Just lost my business here. If youre in the hospitality business, you should be hospitable. Rooms are clean and bright, but I will take my business else where where the staff is friendly and smiling.
Hotel is located next door to a HEB grocery store and an Olive Garden restaurant . The hotel staff is friendly, cordial and very accommodating . Breakfast and social hour food, drinks and snacks are complimentary and great . I would recommend this hotel if you are in the Mcallen TX area . You just cant miss when you stay with residence inns at Marriott
My rating on nearly all aspects of my stay would have been excellent except for the construction surrounding the site in McAllen. It was noisy and dusty. I probably would have stayed anyway, but it would have been a courtesy to me to let me know in advance what to expect.
As soon as we arrived we were checked in immediately. During the checked in process, my husband was told that he was the lucky winner to receive 500 points towards our Marriott rewards card or a delicious goodie from their snack bar. Of course, we took the 500 points (; But our stay was the most pleasant one. Our day started with a hardy breakfast with the option of eating in their dinning facility (or) fill up a tray and eat in our room. The room we stayed in was immaculate, organized and stocked with the necessities for home living. (utensils for cooking, glasses and plates, fridge, stove, dishwasher, sink, microwave, hand towels and ect....) All in all, YES! We would come back to this establishment in the near future.
This was by far the worst hotel I have stayed. You have to call the front desk for just about everything toilet paper, paper towel, etc. I had a parcel delivered to the front desk and nobody called me to let me know till I called them days after I checked out of the hotel. Chris at front desk was very rude with poor customer service. Overall, Poor service! Please don’t waste your money and time here.
Have stayed at McAllens Fairfield, Courtyard, Springhill and the Renaissance hotels and cannot compare the care, friendliness and professionalism extended to me by Residence Inn staff and personnel. I consider the McAllen Residence Inn my home away from home as noted my numerous stays at this hotel. THANK YOU Residence Inn. Looking forward to my next stay.
I like staying at Residence Inn when I can. They are comfortable, and take care of you. The McAllen Residence Inn is old and outdated, but it is in the process of a complete remodel. I still recommend staying here. It is quiet and comfortable, and the staff is great.
This hotel property was very disappointing, it was obvious from the time we arrived there was a lack of parking , and the little parking at the back of the property was dirty , from the parking lot looking at the hotel windows was an awful sight the windows were very filthy full of dust. Once checked in we discovered our room to have a not so pleasant smell and were surprised to have TORN and DIRTY furniture in our room.

2022-06-18I have been staying at Marriott properties for over 20 years and loyalty has its benefits. Front of house registration was extremely nice, actively engaged in conversation. The property itself nestled in a nice area conveniently next to H.E.B. grocery store and moments away from Intersate 2 with plenty of dining options. Check them out!

2022-07-12If you have a service dog this is not the place to stay. They will charge a cleaning fee for hair which is prohibited by ADA and no proof of dander or photos to justify a cleaning fee were provided. We have stayed here several times and the service has only been worse every single time.

2022-06-06Robert, the person ant the front desk was extremely rude and disrespectful we were traveling with our kid with autism and after we checked in we were listening to him laughing with someone else about Kyle our Son, we decided to cancel our reservation and stay somewhere else, really disappointed about Marriott and their employees. I will never stay again at this property that makes fun of kids with mental disabilities.

2021-10-11The staff were friendly and courteous and made us feel welcomed. The breakfast area was very clean and stocked with a variety of hot and cold food. My boys enjoyed the fact that there was a waffle bar. The hotel also offered guests a complimentary dinner bar several days of the week. I highly recommend this place for you and your family. You will not be disappointed.

2021-05-08My family and I are about to complete a week stay at this fine hotel. The rooms are clean, the space is comfortable, and the staff are helpful and courteous. I would be happy to give a 5 star rating if it wasn’t for an unpleasant experience we had with an employee that helps with breakfast. The employee was visibly bothered when asked for help, and seemed to be unhappy working there. She was definitely not synchronized with the entire hotel culture which was otherwise welcoming, and hospitable. 4/5 stars, would consider staying again.

2021-10-05We have stayed here for years. We tried some of the other hotels, but none have the level of service as this RI. Very helpful and professional staff that always meets our expectations. Rooms are very clean, its quiet, great central location, easy check in and checkout, and a good breakfast.
