We really enjoyed our stay, staff was very nice, room was clean as well as the entire hotelThe only reason for 4 stars instead of 5, our room had a musky smell, did not ruin our stay, but is was still unpleasant walking in the room and getting hit with that smellOther than the smell, we would recommend Tanglewood as a place to stay by Lake Texoma
Ants are a problem in the main building. We had a standard room where the hotel had killed some ants prior to arrival in the bathroom but didnt clean them up. Then, we were invaded the next day in another area of the room where they were all over the wall and some of our belongings. Front desk gave me a can of ant spray at my request but didnt seem concerned at all and no follow up occurred. The king bed was fine but the small pillows gave me neck issues. Im 6 foot and the showerhead is at 5 so I had to squat to wash my hair. The restaurant Barnacles was out of a lot of sides but the food we did get was decent and convenient. My favorite part is going to the tower and watching both the sunrise and sunsets. I got this room on a Hotwire deal so I suspect that was probably why were given this particular room, 209. We stayed during the week where it was not busy at all.
Very quiet and peaceful place. I was there for a weeknight stay and booked a king room with lake view. The window in my room opened, so I could have fresh air. The staff was very nice and helpful. The area around Tanglewood is gorgeous! Just dont expect a state-of-the-art and modern property - this is an old and kind of funky resort, which is my thing. Next time I go I plan to try out the spa.
I have stayed at dozens of hotels, this was on the top of the list of best experiences ever. The room was wonderful, clean, and perfect to celebrate our anniversary weekend. This was our second visit and they have added a tiki bar by the heated pool. It was so relaxing to sit by the pool, order a drink, and someone bring it to us. There were fresh cut flowers around every corner. Upon arrival, we had an Anniversary Card, Charcuterie Board, and Wine waiting in the room for us. We had massages scheduled at The Tranquility Spa & Salon that were so amazing and relaxing. The Commodore Steakhouse was amazing. The staff was friendly, had smiles on their faces, and the food absolutely melted in your mouth. I also have to mention because I have been a waitress before and I always notice things. This group of employees were working as a team to make sure everyones expectations were met. I saw employees doing several different things to make sure the job got done. It was awesome to see such great teamwork and no one complaining. Tanglewood Resort and The Commodore Steakhouse went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. If you havent checked this place out I highly recommend. 5 Star Visit!!!
Don’t waste your time. The resort is extremely out dated. They are extremely under staffed. The current staff has terrible customer service. The steakhouse is priced like a high end restaurant. Be thankful if you get a drink refill. Absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had at a steakhouse. We ordered desert, the wrong item was brought, the waitress looked me straight in the face and lied. Said it wasn’t available. Really, she was too lazy to get the right product. The manager confirmed they had it! When pressed on the apparent issues the manager informed us that we should understand they are trying to keep their head above water. You can’t charge me $200 and expect us to be understanding with that fiasco.Another fun story, we called the front desk for blankets, because there were none in the room. I walked down to the front desk, were I was informed they had 2. As that was not enough I inquired about getting some more. I was told and I quote “ in about hour or two, when I get some help, I’ll go to house keeping, but I’m not sure there will be any clean ones. I’m not sure what house keeping did today.” How the hell does a hotel not have blankets? We heard great things about this place. That time has come and gone. They have resort pricing with motel 6 accommodations. Just disappointing. The really sad part is the lack of care this staff has for the patrons!
Disappointing. Theres a bit more wear and tear on the rooms than the price would suggest, peeling paint, loose door knobs, and the toiletries were of poor quality (bring your own toilet paper). We stayed in the villas with the garden tub, and had to get maintenance involved our second night because we couldnt get the hot water to turn off and the AC in the bedroom wouldnt work. The steakhouse tasted good, but was far over priced for the delivery. Customer service was poor. No suggestions to remedy or empathy, we had to request to move to a different room, but by that point we were frustrated. The spa was nice. One of the better massages Ive had. Would recommend the spa.
We were on our honeymoon. We had to relocate to a different room due to ants crawling in and under the bed. My husband is also allergic to ants. Our transfer was a downgrade. Breakfast wasnt a pleasant experience. The wait staff kept walking pass us and we had to stop them for assistance. We also ordered nachos for lunch today which ended up being cold. We went back to the bar and were told by Alex that he wasn’t a bartender and couldn’t serve us. Funny thing is he served us the night before. I am very disappointed wish we couldve had a better honeymoon experience.
Had a great stay for my weekend birthday bash. They have done a nice job of starting to update the facility which had become pretty dated in furnishings and decor but they are definitely getting much better. The rooms were nice, updated, clean and comfortable. Great updates made to the pools and pool area. Loved that the pool was heated as the weather during our stay was a bit cool at times but the pool felt and looked great.
Tremendous views from this historic Lodge/resort.Cons: You can see the wear and tear from the age of the place, wallpaper tearing randomly in hallways, ants in the rooms, keycards not working, room doors not fitted properly to the point you can see in the room, weird hallway smells and the food for the conference I was attending was always below standards. I can look past the food as cooking for hundreds of people obviously isnt easy.Pros: The saving grace is the views and the nearby marina. The is also a gym & nice pool/tiki bar area asking with the historic tower you can go to the top of. Service/staff was nice & friendly.Id consider returning just for the views & Marina. The place needs some work, but has great potential.
Very disappointed. The steak restaurant is a disaster. 20 minutes to take our drink order then another 20 to get the drinks. Never received the appetizer. Informed that what I ordered wasnt available until the order was delivered. Given another option then brought something completely different. Steak was well done when medium rare was ordered. Salad was brown and disgusting. The waiter did modify the bill without question. Had to wait for the room to be cleaned when we arrived at 5 pm. Accommodation was overpriced for the experience. Very disappointed especially after the 3 hour drive to get there. Do not recommend and will not be returning. Have had better luck with motel 6.
I like to leave positive reviews but unfortunately for Tanglewood I can just say it’s ok. Nothing wonderful about it. I was disappointed. I booked the James Bond room a month out they called me a week before and said I could be moved into the Monroe room or they would refund my deposit. Stuff happens so I agreed to the Monroe room. It was my birthday weekend. A friend and I was looking for a nice weekend. Upon entering my room there was lots and lots of dead bees in the inside of my room. This was on Friday. Tried to open the windows and the curtains and the curtains was half off could never get a view at any point in fear the curtains would fall down. The wine glasses in the room was dirty. The ice maker wouldn’t work. Friday night the music was loud up in to all hours of the night. Went to the restaurant for dinner at the Commodore order a steak medium well and had to return it three times. Insulting. Saturday we was gone most of the day just to come back to find my bed wasn’t made. The dirty towels was never picked up. Saturday night at 1:55 am someone was outside my door trying to use their card to get in my room I had to get up and crack the door to tell them they have the wrong room. Upon checking out tried to express my concerns the receptionist just cared about getting me out.The hotel is beautiful. There is some major up keeps need to be addressed but more importantly customer service needs to be more helpful.I have stayed in many resorts and I would say this this is more of a party place and less of a resort.
It was a great family outing for my 12 yr old bday. Clean room, nice staff, great servers. Good food. Kids had a great pool time! 3 pools to accommodate all ages! Will be back! Especially since we live local. Monica Wolf, and all the staff up front was great. As well a young guy server Alex. Spectacular in Barnacles Sports Bar. He went above and beyond for me and my kids and other families too i saw by the poolside. Game roo. Was fun too.
The rooms don’t have phones or alarm clocks, there is no room service available and the place looks nothing like the pictures online. There is so much upkeep that needs to be done to bring this place to par level. My god they served powdered eggs for breakfast. The ceiling is caving in over the bar and dining locations. The water in our shower came out yellow and most of the ice machines were out of order. The only one we could find that worked had the ceiling missing above it, with mildew towels strewn along the floor. Definitely not worth $200 per night.
Booked a quick weekend get away (Thursday-Sunday) so we could enjoy some water time on Lake Texoma. I worked with Monica Wolf on my reservations and she went absolutely above and beyond! She was off while I was there but was still making sure my stay was going smoothly and checking in on us! The pool area was great. Three different pools, three different levels was really nice. The pizza from Barnacles was phenomenal! We made reservations at the Commodore Steakhouse and the food was amazing. Steaks and scallops cooked perfectly, employees were very friendly and welcoming. (And dont even get me started on the apple pie and ice cream! YUM) I know with the world we are currently living in that employees are hard to come by - that being said, the employees throughout the resort were extremely helpful and also went above and beyond. I saw many employees working different locations throughout the resort and they all were working so hard! We stayed in the villas and they were amazing! Clean, spacious, and comfortable! We did jetskis on the lake and also did a dinner cruise - both were so fun!Next time we head out to Lake Texoma well be staying here!
Calling this a resort is a BIG stretch.Pros: 3 pools and plenty of outdoor recreation and space. The staff are all nice at the restaurants. Proximity to the lake and to Eisenhowerstate park.Cons: the rooms, particularly the bathrooms, are gross. This is the kind of room where youre like I need to get out of this shower as fast as humanly possible or I cant wait to check out of this place. Ill share pictures from our room which was $249/night. Makes my dorm from college 21 years ago look like a 5 star hotel in comparison. The room smelled like cockroach spray. Not enough staff at the restaurants. They are severely understaffed and everyone is working as hard as they can but they need more people. Front desk staff...disappointing.Next time I will stay at an air bnb. I basically told my friends and family do not stay where we stayedThere is talk of this property doing expansion and renovation but they need to take care of management, staffing, and the quality of rooms that they have first.
Went there to inquire about events and possible reservations. The place looked fairly vacant, very few cars in the parking lots. The young lady behind the desk helped me as much as she could, but the person I needed to speak with was unavailable.Everything was clean and orderly. Maintenance appears to be kept up very well.
If I could rate this 4.5 stars, thats what I would do; in lieu of that, Ill round up. This place is perfect for a weekend getaway, no doubt about it. The staff is friendly and attentive, the grounds are nice, rooms even better, and the food excellent. This place has been around for a long time - like a fine wine, it has aged well. If you are looking for an up-to-date posh place this aint it - but thats part of its charm. The only disappointment is the lack of heated swimming pools, which we understood to be available. Im not sure if they are having problems with them or just opted to save money, but they were definitely not heated during our 3 day visit. The Commodore Steakhouse is reasonably priced and has excellent food - both dinner and breakfast. Barnacles is also tasty, if not the tiniest bit overpriced.
*Edit* Please see original review below. After my review, a member of management reached out to me to try and make things right, so we decided to give it another try. We started out by having to get new rooms that matched our original stay (2 queens since we brought our children but were issued a king). No big deal. However, the new rooms toilet overflowed after the first flush. Maintenence came quickly and fixed the issue but literally left all the towels on the floor he had used to soak up the toilet water...and sewage. After that hiccup we did enjoy our stay. Went to the bar and actually got our drinks this time and they were well made. This place definitely needs some fine tuning and a little change, but it has great potential. The hot tub was hot this time and the pool felt great. Gorgeous place....Let me start by saying I never leave mediocre reviews and always try to look for the positives. This trip was truly disappointing. The pool was very pretty, but one of the steps on the ladder out of the pool was broken with no sign, causing me to fall forward and bust my knee (Im currently pregnant). There were no towels outside and the front desk said they didnt have any either. The hot tub jets wasnt working at all and the heated pool was actually warmer than the hot tub. We decided to give the in house restaurant a try, and it was the biggest disappointment. I guess most of the staff had walked out. We waited over an hour for a beer. Our food still hadnt arrived after an hour and a half so we asked for it to go. When we got our to go order, some of the food wasnt included and our waitress told us sorry the kitchen is closed. The food missing happened to belong to our children. After about another hour we finally were able to get them to drop some chicken strips. At this point it was nearly 10 p.m. Ive always heard great things about this place so to say we were disappointed is an understatement. The staff were all super friendly!
My 1st time there and had a blast. The staff at the check in area, pool area, maintenance, and housekeeping our party of 6 encountered were all fantastic. Breakfast inside Tanglewood Resort was delicious and again the staff was fantastic. Dinner at The Island was delicious and staff was fantastic. Our party of 6 really enjoyed our dinner using The Island Table Patio area. I RECOMMEND this location to everyone. Call ahead to ensure Availability. Thank-you very much for providing us with a queen size air bed to accommodate our family. The air bed was very comfortable.
They are understaffed and this is not an upscale resort (your advertisement is deceiving)You think you are getting a bargain? Youre not. (They charge $30 resort fee)Theres also a black market going on with pool towels. I asked for towels 3 different times (bin towels are empty) from 3 different people and I didnt get any towels at all. (dripping) I went to front desk and asked for 4 towels (me, my husband and 2 kids) and the front desk lady said we cant give that much towels. OMG.Foods are ok (bar foods). Some staff are super sweet but some disorganization going on. Some staff seems to be working hard, taking on a lot of responsibility and some are just slacking.
Had a fantastic stay, Misty the receptionist greeted us and very informative on what to do during our stay. The resort very clean and maintained. The room big in size and fully equipped with a full size kitchen. Connie one of the bartender at Barnacle was great, very entertaining and friendly. Wish we could have enjoyed the pool more, water and weather was not in our favor for this trip. Will highly recommend this place, looking at scheduling a trip in the future.
The stay was always excellent! Just do not buy their packages!!! I bought and paid for 3 packages!! Over $15,000 dollars.. everything was fine until the packages were paid off. I had well over 1,000 points available for me to use. When I called to check my points and book rooms my points were gone... just disappeared. I did call Jhon and I wrote him an e-mail he would not respond to either.. So enjoy the stay but dont fall for their timeshare packages. I appreciate the owners reply. However none of my e-mails or voice messages that I left to John was every returned or replied to. I wish this issue had been resolved.
Neat resort. Restaurant was way overpriced for the quality of steaks they had. Also didnt have a number of things on the menu. Waitress seemed bothered by any requests we had and was very short. Youre better off getting a steak at an Outback or something. Steaks just tasted like they came off a dirty grill. Just doesnt cut it as a steakhouse for a resort. Ordered their special for 2 which was supposed to be cut at the table. Staff serving food semed like he had no earthly idea on how to cut a steak. Receptionist was very nice and friendly though.
We arrived today and have already fallen in love with the Tanglewood Resort. Angela and John were amazing. We ended up switching rooms (no fault of theirs, it was a booking company issue). They were extremely accommodating and went far beyond what we expected to make sure our stay was wonderful. The service has been exceptional by other staff members as well including the gang at Barnacles restaurant/bar. To top it all off, they had live entertainment by the pool. With all the social distancing safeguards, it was a real treat to eat dinner poolside and listen to the music. Well definitely be back!
Im split 50/50 on wether or not I liked this place. The pools were great and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. However, the rooms were not that clean. The shower got most of the bathroom wet which made the side of the sink warp and there was mold on the mirror. The elevators were a little conserning as well. They had no stickers that stated the last inspection date and there was no escape door on the ceiling. The room did come with dishes and appliances which was great.
Cute resort, inside lobby/restaurant is very nautical & reminds me of the 90s. I think its charming, but everyones taste is different. The layout of the property is great, everything was within walking distance. Pool set up was nice, clean minus tons of ants in the lowest pool, but its Texas & summer. Cant avoid that. Property was quiet & felt safe. Our room was beautiful & clean & I loved the plush carpeting & large bathroom. Downside was the ONE elevator. We had breakfast in the restaurant which we were provided vouchers for. My French toast & ham were great, there was a little wait but we didnt mind. Will definitely return!
This place is very dated. The breakfast buffet was among the worst I’ve ever experienced. The eggs were old and dried out. The bacon was soggy, Pancakes were over cooked and rubbery, The fruit appeared as though it had been in the refrigerator for three days and not fresh.
Roomy, comfortable resort facilities with helpful friendly staff. There is no view of the lake from any room lower than the 5th floor though. There are a couple of very rough walking trails that you have to find yourself. This is mainly a place for boaters to relax after a long day in the water. The pools are small but well maintained. You can take pets but only on the first floor of the resort. Barnacles restaurant is quite slow but i enjoyed everything i ate.
They looted the groupThey charge for butter neither blanket is provided they charge for signature blanket I am wondering that the blanket is not a signature brand blanket that’s a local blanket what they chargeAt last not least I must say this hotel is not worth for anyone specially for family bcz if your kids or teenage student pee on the bed they charge not for bed sheet they charge for entire bed so beware .
Pros: Nice pool area, nice playground for small kids, tennis courts and close to the marina. Overall the grounds were nice and close to lake activities.Cons: Beds are the worst I have ever slept on, 3 of the 4 of us who stayed slept horribly for the 3 nights we were there. Toilet kept running. There was not alot of information available for activities in the surrounding area, like brochures and such. Spa and Steakhouse restaurant was closed.... ON A WEEKEND. Pub in the hotel did not have very good food, it was ok but not the best. Pizza was probably the best option.
Stayed in the tower Beatles room. room hasnt been worked on since the Beatles were popular. Toilet was filthy to say the least. Shower floor needed fixed Only onebig bath towel. TV was not watchable. Called the front desk and was told it had been broke for a while (would have been good to know before I checked in). Dead and live bugs all around the inside of the sliding doors (all 3 of them). Room did have a nice view of the lake. Breakfast was (Ok) but service was poor at best! Had to find a waiter to get our drinks (every time) he would not take away dirty plates (its a buffet) watched him pick up tips from different tables that wasnt his and no they dont share tips. (I asked a different waitress). All I can say is it wasnt even close to what we expected after spending close to $375.00 for 1 night.
We were upgraded to a suite in the Tower, and it made for a fantastic trip. Amazing lake views, and quiet, and peaceful. The staff was wonderful. The facility is older so if you want a modern resort, this probably isnt for you. Its not close to a big city so keep that in mind. It was perfect for my travel plans, and I will return as long as I can reserve the suite again for the incredible view.
Was hoping to book for this resort and received an email that said there were packages and specials. I went onto the website and because of COVID it explained they were not offering those. That is completely understandable so I called and just suggested they may want to take it off the email as to not cause confusion. The customer service line was extremely rude. I had just called to ask and make a simple suggestion. Very disappointing.
The room was like a regular motei room. Our toilet ran constantly. We had to strip our own beds. when we took a shower the waterr was hot cold hot, cold hot cold would not stay a steady temperture.. We went to the Commodore restaurant although the staff was very friendly they never came back once t.o make sure our steak was cooked right never asked if we needed a refill on drink. Way over priced. We finished eating and had to sit for awhile for and then had to get their attention to bring to go boxes and our check.
A nice place with helpful staff. The swimming pool was full of happy people and the bar had a decent selection of beer. The beds were in good shape with clean linens. The cleaning staff doesnt speak English which I found out because they didnt have do not disturb signs. The shampoo and soap smelt very nice.
My room was VERY DIRTY! It had spiders and bugs every where. After, I complained with the front desk, they sent someone to clean the room, I left my room, so they could clean it up, but, after I came back, the restroom was still dirty. I had to clean it myself to be able to use it.When you go to a hotel you want to feel safe and comfortable and my stay at Tanglewood was nor near that.Very old and beat up hotel.I will never go back for sure.
Our home away from home. We always look forward to our time at Tanglewood. We absolutely love Connie! She will always greet you with a smile, gives top notch service, pays attention to the details, and treats you like family. Angela is always helpful and all knowing! She takes care of business and makes sure you are taken care of. We love hearing Julian sing on the weekends, too!
Our experience was great! Our room was eh. The porch light did not work, our kitchen sink light did not work, our floors were so greasy with some sort of solvent, and we had rolly poly bugs everywhere in the shower. It personally didnt bother me much but for what you pay, I expected super clean and nice. Cobb webs everywhere in our room as well. Now lets talk about this firework show. Now THIS was amazing. We live near Frisco and have seen a million firework shows around the metroplex. This one topped that. This is our 4th of July plan from now on. The marina was beautiful. Great get away, rooms need some basic maintenance and cleaning. Otherwise, was a great time!
This was our first time here and we will definitely be back. The rooms were good. The pools were excellent. The staff was excellent. Barnicles Bar and Grill was absolutely excellent! The staff works their tail end off and they were all super friendly! They never once made us feel like a burden!!! The Comedore breakfast buffet was great! Their dinner menu is also excellent. The prime rib was to die for! 3 days was definitely not enough! I don’t know how anyone could ever leave a bad review!
Rooms have been moderately updated and the beds were very comfortable. The employees were all VERY friendly and went above and beyond to help us with a surprise. The history of the resort in the area is interesting and should be taken into consideration. I would say that it would be nice to see the resort updated a little more while still keeping the spirit of the establishment.
This resort is very beautiful but in need of some updates. Which the management seems to realize and they are working on. The pool really is beautiful and the bar at the lighthouse as great. I thunk setting up more lounge area in the lighthouse would be wonderful. The rooms are good but again need some updating.Overall I would love to come back once updates are completed.
Our rooms were comfortable, nothing special. The beds are pretty soft. The bathrooms are nice and updated. The restaurant staff has improved since last year. Unless you are into golf or boating, there isnt much to do here. Ive heard good things about the spa but havent been. The rate was really good for our big group, and the conference rooms fit our needs. But I wouldnt recommend this place for a family holiday.
We are staying here for 4 nights through a time share. Great place and rooms. Rented a golf cart, rode around! Golf course is really peaceful and lawn stays cut. Quoted: best that it can get for the golf course. The 3 swim pools are a great design! Top pool is 1ft deep for toddlers. Mid pool is good for children and Max of 5 feet. And the bottom pool is good for adults and as deep as 8 feet. Staff was wonderful here and will fix any problem you may come to. Great vacation!
Beautiful setting but disappointed with several issues: no close access to the lake, toilet ran all night, king bed was extremely soft and uncomfortable, AC could not keep the room cooled to comfortable temp and TV had no channel guide. For the price that we paid I expected better.
The hotel has a ton of potential. Everything now smells old and the tower smelled like old smoke and carpet. The layout of the resort was dysfunctional and unorganized. No information about the resort was provided upon check-in. We had no idea where to eat, what was available or when, or how to get there. The A/C did not work in the elevator or hallways inside the villa we stated in. The room did not look like the pics. The lake view is obstructed from almost everywhere, there are no trails, no beautiful walkways or sitting areas. It felt very confined knowing a large beautiful lake was just beside us. Hoping the new owners make this a beautiful luxurious resort but right, dont waste your money and time like we did.
VERY RUDE MANAGEMENT. Booked a suite here for my sisters bachelorette party, but got a call later on saying that they had cancelled our reservation because the room wasnt actually available. The manager was extremely inconsiderate from the very start of the conversation saying there was nothing she could do. Asked if she could give us any type of discount on another room and was told No. Im just not gonna do that in a peak season. Im just not. She made absolutely no attempt to do anything to make up for their mistakes.
We had a great time. Its a large property on lake Texhoma. Some of the areas of the resort are getting older and could probably use a remodel, but for the most part everything was nice. We stayed in the villas and we were very comfortable. We also had dinner at the Commodore Room and the food was fantastic.
My little tyke left her blanket wrapped in the sheets in the bed of our room. We didn’t realize we had left it, until we got home. They were so kind to mail it back to us! I was so surprised.I think it is a really neat little place, we would go back. Loved the room updates, they were very needed. Only thing I noticed that needed some work was our shower/ bathtub. It had major trouble draining and the water came out like a dang sand blaster, it was a pretty painful experience. That was room 333 though, maybe they aren’t all like that.
Yikes. Dated rooms. A shower leaves you standing in several inches of water because of the clogged drains. Cleaning service missed our room. Stains on the bathroom floor because of a neglected leak on the water supply line to the toilet.Bar and restaurant had good food, and the staff was working really hard - but it was clear they were understaffed.A friend recommended this place because they stayed here several years ago. Time has obviously not been kind to this place. You are better off taking a chance on one of the private rental houses.
I would if given this resort a 5 star. However, my husband forgot his shoes in the room, I called a few times to ask about them. They said they would call back to ask for address to send them to us. After that I never heard from them. Food is good. Pool area too. Some of the employees are very rude for example; one of the employees that was by the pool stopped me to tell me In a rude tone “ You can not let your baby swim in a diaper” as to what i responded she is not swimming she already did and now i changed her. She acted as if i didn’t just told her my daughter was not going to swim and proceed to tell me the same thing all over again. My suggestion is - if you are not seeing me put my daughter in the pool and we are just sitting by it in a chair please leave people alone. We were trying to enjoy our time here because we PAID to be there so i think it is the least we should be able to do.Also, be careful about buying a breakfast included because I did ( oh and this was full price NOT Groupon ) but when i asked about it the front desk person got upset and said no i did not have that . So I showed her my booking and where it stated I DID have it.
Tanglewood Resort ReviewWe used Interval Exchange points to book this stay. Our home resort is in San Antonio and we love staying there. It is really nice, clean, and has a lot to do with young kids. Since Tanglewood was pretty close to home, we thought we would give it a try.Our first impression driving in was good. It looked nice and the lobby was clean and inviting.Room: We stayed in a one bedroom Vacation Villa. Our first impression of our room was not very good. First, we had to kill several bugs (roaches, beetles, etc.) in the room. I understand that it is near the lake and bugs are a challenge to control, but there could probably be a little more effort and money put into pest control. We were impressed by the size and space of the room. There is plenty of room to spread out with kids. On the other hand, the carpet and floors had the feel of not being very clean, so having a baby play on the floor required putting down a towel or blanket. The beds were comfortable and linens felt and looked clean. Many things about the room felt dated and were deteriorating from age and lake humidity.Pools: the pools were average. They are also deteriorating and need repair/maintenance. Several water filters were rusting and needed cleaning around the inlets. The brochure and information sheets indicated they there was a 15 person jacuzzi pool which is not the case. That pool has been filled in and a much smaller standalone hot tub was sitting in its place. This may have been a cheaper fix, but does not express quality accommodation if that is the intention.Grounds: you can tell at one point in time the grounds were very nice. They are in need of improved upkeep and improvement at this time. The playground is nice and it seems that it is a new addition to the property.Staff: front desk, dining room, and all others that we came into contact with were very friendly in their interactions with guests. The King Tut art work is nice, but it may be worth it to use the proceeds from their sale to make major updates and renovations to the current facilities. That may be more appreciated by all guests more than the art work.We were traveling with small children (under age 3) and feel that this resort would not be a great place to return to for family vacation with that age.
Service was 5 stars but everything else about Tanglewood Resort was a 2. This place is seriously outdated and in need of some remodeling. It reminded us of the movie The Shining. The food was straight off the Food Services of America truck and not great quality.A couple really disappointing factors were that the Groupon we got for this place said dogs welcome for $50, but they don’t say dogs are only allowed in the villas, not the hotel rooms, so we had to pay more to move to a villa. We also had a ton of ants in our room. They were all over the night stand and headboard. Gross! When I told the front desk they said “thank you for telling me...” Umm okay?Again the service is great, everyone was really nice and attentive. However, I wouldn’t recommend it.
The resort is awesome. Rooms and grounds are well kept. Food is delicious with large portions and reasonably priced. Staff is very accommodating and very pleasant. Plenty to do: boating, fishing, paddle boating and kayaks at the marina. Horseback riding and bulldozers/ cranes driving nearby. Kid friendly too. Our experience was very positive and I’m sure yours will be as well.
I stayed the first weekend of June, 2013 while attending a reunion. My tower room was large, very comfortable and has great views of Lake Texoma and the marina area. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The food is great from both restaurants. The only problem was a very slow kitchen in Barnacles. It is a great place to relax- large pool, golf, boating and a spa in a rolling countryside.
06/16/2019 Updated review from previous experience:General Manager John Schwichtenberg reached out to us and asked us to give Tanglewood another chance so wife and I came this Sunday to celebrate our 7th year wedding anniversary. We stayed at the tower suite Marilyn Monroe Suite let me say this: We were extremely pleased with our stay this time. The suite was stunning and romantic, just perfect for us and exactly what we asked for. The service was exceptional, we requested for a late checkout today since we arrived late last night, we were able to get a late check out without any problems. The staff was very courteous as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be coming back soon. Thank you John Schwichtenberg for the outstanding accommodation and enjoyable stay. I would recommend this place. You have definitely made a lifelong client.Nice hotel no complaints on that part. But there are some things I do want to mention: Barnacles bar and restaurant, the customer service was horrible. We had a young server who served our table, so we asked her if she can suggest something on the menu she plain out said “No” we asked her if there are any drink specials she said “No” again. I asked her if they can make a “Mojito” for me, she asked me “do you see that on the menu” to that I replied “I don’t think I saw that” and she said “well if it’s not on the menu I can’t make it for you”. Then the next day I had called the front desk around 9am to ask if we can kindly have a late check out because our 4 month old was really agitated the night before and fell asleep at that time. They replied “No, we don’t honor late check out’s”. So we had to leave with our extremely tired and agitated infant then. Customer service needs to improve greatly. I don’t know if the management has changed for this hotel because my wife and I stayed there 3 years ago without any issues. But this time I had a horrendous experience there. I do NOT recommend. Will NOT be coming back again.
Theyre pretty bad about giving you your cards for your activities but theyre pretty quick to fix it, just seems like sloppy communication. Resort is fairly nice and rooms are pretty good but they lack a fridge. First room smelled like dead fish and the smell wouldnt go away. They were however nice about replacing the room and it is in a nice location.
My stay was horrible it was my honeymoon with my wife we got a room with a lakeside view and had to downgrade to the 1st floor without any view just a backwall ants were in the bed under the mattress and headboard not to mention one in my hair it took an hour for us to receive our food we ordered and that was just one order of nachos tower so Saturday we went back to order some drinks took about 17 minutes just for anyone to notice us then when I caught someone attention Alex he said he wasnt a bartender but I seen him serving drinks and he served us drinks Friday night so how wasnt he a bartender I felt very unwelcome and out of place on our honeymoon we also went to breakfast Saturday morning and the waitress passed us up so many times I had to get their attention just so we can get something to drink we actually finished our breakfast before we got out drinks I really was disappointed my whole weekend the only peoples treating us right was the crew on the boat when we ate dinner for sunset other than that I dont I didnt enjoy our visit on the resort
If you’re looking for 5 Star Resort with all the bells & whistles, then this isn’t your place. However, if you want somewhere relaxing, the whole family can enjoy or two escape for a weekend, off the beaten path, right on the lake, with amazing staff & great food... this is it! Yes, it could use a little updating, but couldn’t we all? Just go! I promise you’ll love it.
Friendly staff - our room needed maintenance on couple of things like air-conditioning leaking, bath room for that is being stuck, room lock not functioning properly. Restaurant food is expansive for what it is. Music at the pool and bar was very loud. The place is very well located but it should be explained at the check in what things are available on site. I felt like its more money than service. So in the end its average and no more. They should tap in the potential they have.Post edit:A couple of hours later this review I received an apology, a 90USD discount on my stay from the resort and I ve been asked to see the front desk manager since I had 1 day to go on my stay. I got very surprised how fast this review got fixed and the very nice reply I received. I had put 3 stars but with this I am rating 4 stars.I can now say this is the best and quickest fix I could experience. Thanks Tanglewood Resort this rocks.
This place has everything I love all in the same place. Fishing, jetski and boat rentals, horseback riding, and so much more. Something for everyone of every age. Definitely a place worth visiting not to far from the house. The manager Meagan is extremely high on customer service and very helpful. Cowboy Andy with the horseback riding even barbecued for us after the horse ride. Definitely coming back multiple times. The Anchor Up jet ski rental company were amazingly friendly as well.
I would not recommend this resort until they make some major changes. Although they have a few staff who stood out as friendly and helpful such as Brinton, Maggie, and the front desk folks, the resort itself is lacking in many ways. We stayed at this resort from March 30, 2018 - April 6, 2018. We are Marriott Resort owners and were very disappointed. Very dated. The following things stood out: There is no lake access on the property --you have to drive to the marina or a nearby beach where you have to pay per person, regardless of age. The pools were unheated (even pools in south Florida at this time of year are heated), there were no activities lined up for the week, the Easter continental breakfast ran out of food/coffee/plates/silverware (everything) and staff seemed upset that this was pointed out to them with over 1.5 hours left of serving time. The food in the restaurant was mediocre - we actually found a rather large piece of plastic (1 inch long) in the fruit dip. There is no access to a business center where you can use a computer. The gym was dirty and the entire time we stayed there, the trash was not emptied nor the water cooler refilled. The water was not drinkable from the faucet due to the need to use salt pellets--tasted like salt.Moving to the villa itself rooms 5131/5132 -- nice large villa with plenty of room and balconies. We had broken tiles in one of the bathrooms, the sink didnt drain in the bathroom, the washer leaked, the clock had no battery, the TV was not HD even though it said it was, there were 2 couches in the entry way of the villa that sat there for a couple days, towels in the hallway (on floor) for a couple days, elevator was dirty and old, pans in the kitchen were cheap and everything stuck to them. The beds were comfortable and the linens adequate. It was also very quiet -- most folks left after Easter.
As always, mediocre in many regards, but theyve made improvements. The new game room is nice, despite being open only until about 10, even on a holiday week/weekend. Staff is always helpful and courteous. Shay was great. The one big negative was the TV situation. The guide is almost completely wrong and they didnt even have Fox (local) available anywhere except the bar in the hotel. Were talking about the channel that the Dallas Cowboys play a division rival on Thanksgiving in a condo less than 2 hours from Dallas.
Used Shampoo and soap left in our room from previous guest. No wifi in our fifth floor room. Air conditioning was feeble. Power went out twice in one night. We put the do not disturb sign on our door and they came in anyway and replaced our towels and made our bed. When I notified the desk they never even apologized nor did they take anything off my bill. Our daughters room was not in the main hotel and their a/c was good and they liked their room.
I think everyones definition of posh is different but it was a decent facility and my family had a blast!! Room was clean, food was decent and thier activities woman was awesome! Im terrible with names but she specifically deserves 5 stars of her own! She was wonderfully welcoming to me and my 5 year old... he enjoyed her so much, he stayed with her in the crafts room for many hours of our stay. (Our room was just a few doors down, which helped this 1st time momma) Anyway, it was a fantastic weekend.. my family and i thank yall!!!
Great accommodation. Very clean well kept. The staff was very nice and very knowledgeable. Especially David at the counter when we checked in and Everytime we seen him. Cory was very nice and treated us very nice. Latoia wonderful lady and a great cook. Zane served us our steak dinner very nice did a great job. The cook who made our dinner great steak. Sorry if I missed naming any of the staff they were all very friendly. Great place to go. Ready to come back. Thank you all for a great week.
We stayed at the Tanglewood Resort hoping to find a place fairly close to Dallas where we could take the family and relax with lots to do on site. The entire resort needs to be updated; many of the basics have been neglected such as light bulbs that need to be replaced or items repaired on the playground. Terrible televisions from the 1980s with terrible reception. These things would not cost much money but require a general manager that cares about the integrity of the property. The staff were friendly but not terribly knowledgeable about the promotions happening at the resort. The dining experience was not good at all - over priced food that was not fresh. The worst part for us were the bugs we found in our room. Be aware - we know we found lots of roaches but also believe there were BED BUGS at this location. I hesitate to write bad reviews because I like to give places the chance to improve and make things right when we have a poor experience. I contacted the GM for assistance through this process but he has since stopped returning my calls/emails. Not recommended.
Decided to go for a weekend getaway. We got to hotel earlier than we expected thinking we maybe could get room early and was told nothing available which was fine. Went to drive around a few hours. Came back at 4 and the villa isn’t ready and we decide ok lets wait a few more It’s 4:45 and still not ready they dont know why it’s taken so long cannot get an actual reason. Wait of course let’s blame this on COVID too!So now we have to drive all the way back home we cancelled our stay because this place doesn’t have their stuff together. Thanks for disappointing my 10 year old son who was excited to stay in one of your villas !
The grounds are large. The atmosphere is lively. Food options are limited. You can eat at the restaurant or drive into town, which itself is rather limited. I think you do get a kitchen in the larger villa suites but not in the main building. The pool area was nice. We had a lot of fun there. Afterward, we went to a firepit and cooked smores. The kids loved it. When you look around, various things are run down. Our toilet seat wasnt attached. Various light fixtures were broken and sagging, etc.
Mediocre. Best phrase to describe it.... Its a glorified Ramada Inn. If you set the bar pretty low, it will meet your expectations. Staff seems unhappy to work here due to their lack of interest in your resort experience.Very noisy air conditioners in the rooms and walls are thin. You will hear anything and everything.Clean property with basic amenities. Pool closes too early and there is little entertainment. The tower club is the place to be if you stay here. Thats as good as it gets. The golf course, however, was great.
It is an excellent resort with activities for the whole family! From the beautiful views of the lake to the golf course, fun can be had by any and all! There are tennis and basketball courts, 3 pills, and any view from the hotel is amazing. Its like a secret escape tucked away in the country with the beautiful Lake Texoma in the background. You have to visit more than once to make sure you enjoy every adventure!
Room is clean, but usually any kind of resort Ive been to had a small fridge in the room, they dont have a fridge and when I asked if they have a cooler or something they said I gotta pay $20 extra for a cooler... no toothbrush in their bathroom or soap. Also the food at the restaurant was absolutely disgusting and old. The pictures in the website is just not accurate, it makes it look like youre staying by the lake but no! You have to drive 20 minutes over to get to the lake.
We conver here every year for a conference. They are updating and offering more amenities, but its still a 3- star resort. The windows from most rooms have a better view than this, but this is what I got this time, on the 4th floor, across the hall from the elevator. Its more fun in summer.
Fine if you want to stay in a room from the 90s. The place almost seemed deserted!! We used a Groupon to stay here so thats probably why but we also didnt read the fine print and got nailed with 12% resort fees. Not upfront about charges or fees so I would recommend picking somewhere else to do vacations. Not a resort, not on a lake and lake access is only driving distance. I would spend your $100+ a night somewhere else!
Sorry, I exchanged my Marriott week for a week at Tanglewood Vacation VillasI had a dog with me, which I payed the pet fee up front, she is a very good quit dog. A man named Hugh probably an employee, started harassing me the day after I arrived.Hugh was posting on my company web-site saying I wasnt cleaning up after my dog.I all ways pick up after my dog !! I also was picking up after a lot of other dogs.He continued to post and say lies about me.. Not how I wanted to spend my vacation Many people had multiple dogs and never picked up after them.. At check in they said they would put a 20.00 dollar pend on my credit card ,they put 20.00 plus 330.00 than refused to take it off. Its about doing what you say, dont tell customers 20.00 if your going to post 350.00. The continental breakfast is not worth showing up for:( I was disappointed with the whole stay.. Exception, I got a great pedicure from the spa my last day:)
Our stay at the Tanglewood Resort was more than amazing! This resort is an oasis almost in the middle of nowhere which made it even more tranquil and pleasurable. But let me get to the best part...the people! Everywhere we visited while at the resort had some of the friendliest people you ever want to meet. From Dakota at The Island Grill, to Cowboy Andy at the Rockin A Ranch, to our now new BFF, Tracey, one of the Reception Specialist (title coined by me because she is just that good)manning the front desk at the Resort, they made our experience more than memorable. We will certainly put Tanglewood on our travel calendar for next year!
Terrible service. Friendly enough front desk staff, but the restaurant service was abismal. Closed breakfast 30 minutes early without letting guests know, and offered no other option for my son and I on their campus. When i called to confirm the breakfast times for thr folowing day, I was told, well, they should have been open, and they should be open tomorrow. The sports bar food was good but very pricey, and the bartender basically ignored us. We literally had to get our own food from the kitchen after itd been siting for 10 minutes. Housekeeping came into our room after knocking once at 8 am, even though the DND sign was on the door. Lastly, even though they list shuttle services within 3 miles in their guest services book, they do not offer a shuttle unles it is for a large group and arrangements are made at booking, according to the front desk. We will not be staying again, unfortunately, as their grounds are beautiful and have very close access to the marina.
I havent stayed here but I have spent 4 days trying to call and book a jacuzzi suite. For a hotel that is 24 /7 they either dont answer or answer and say they will call me back and never do. Sad the customer service is so awful before I can ever stay because the tower bar has amazing service and people.
My sister had resereved a room for my nieces baby shower. We were supposed to have the room by noon and shower started at 2pm. We show up and the room is not ready. They finally gave us a different room at 1pm. We had a $200 cake melting. We had ice melting. We had guests showing up and not knowing where to go. And we were still decorating 45 minutes after party was supposed to start.
This place barley gets two stars from me! The rooms smell like mold, the food at both restaurants is so-so, they ARE NOT on the lake, they have NO lake access, they are near the lake. For the most part, the staff was helpful and friendly, and thats what gained them the second star. We wont be returning.
We stayed here for one weekend night after getting a nice deal on Groupon. It’s a very nice little spot, tucked away near the Texas-Oklahoma border. An easy drive from DFW. The room was good…perhaps on par with an older Hilton property. Front desk service was friendly along with the reset of the resort staff. The on-site dining is nice, with easy access to the pool from the barpub area. Quite family friendly…lots of folks with kids. The marina is just across the street, so easy access (I assume) for those doing boating. I would imagine in the off-season things are fairly quiet. The poollake seem to be the central theme of the resort, and there aren’t a great deal of onsite amenities past this. We made the mistake of trying to find somewhere local to eat…yuck. Stick with eating onsite. In summary, a nice place to get away for the weekend, or perhaps for a conferencefamily reunion, especially in the summer months. Outside of that, your mileage will vary.
We made a fun sister trip out to Tanglewood and all I can say is we will definitely be back! The GM John was awesome.. the front desk ladies we’re polite...we did a fishing trip and our guide Daniel...one word phenomenal !! Not only was he informative but he was patient and friendly...we will recommend this resort to our friends and will be going back for the other festivities they offer! A hidden gem right outside the city
Golf staff was very arrogant and did not make me feel welcome at all. We had a coupon that made him roll his eyes and it was like pulling teeth to find out information. I used to be an assistant golf pro in Dallas and this was like they didnt want people to come visit. The hotel staff was very helpful when we arrived, but that excitement was short-lived once we got to the room. The t.v. quality was the way it used to be in the 70s and it took longer to adjust the temperature in the shower than to take one.The Barnacles restaurant waitress was nice, but the NBA finals were playing and the guy in there seemed to be put out by my asking to change the channel from Texas A&M training camp (showing on 2 of 3 t.v.s) to the finals. I ordered a BBQ burger and it was very dry even though the menu says cooked to your liking. No one asked and I should have said something. The 2 margaritas were great! But I will not be back.
We come here every 2 years cause my grandparents have a time share there but hopefully we start coming yearly because this place is amazing its like your face to face with nature ive seen many animals and fishing here is downright FUN, a great place to get away from stress, arcade/lounge could use work though.
Nice place, friendly staff (albeit a bit slow to respond). Facilities are nice enough, but WAY OVERPRICED for what you get, even with a Groupon (which we used). Everything extra costs extra (jet skis, paddle boarding, massages, etc). Bar next to pool is ok with $7 cocktails and $17 pitchers of beer. DEFINITELY being and cook your own food in the kitchen if youre in a villa, because the on-site restaurants will get expensive. It was ok for kids, but we will not return. Its a better deal and less expensive to go on a 3-day carnival Cruise from Galveston.
It was a wonderful trip with friends had a wonferful, relaxing time the villa was amazing it was impecable very roomy the pools the grounds I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a little get away, plus our German Shepherd was allowed with a deposit.. It was amazing. And thank u to our friends Phillip and Anne Power.. Who invited us to come ❤️
We love staying at Tanglewood! Its always a peaceful, relaxing, fun vacation for our entire family. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with three restraunts there is always something to choose from and suited to our mood, golf and spa for relaxing days and on most weekends there is usually on site or local entertainment at one of the near by venues. We highly recommend Tanglewood to all of our friends and family!
Stayed here this Memorial Day 5/26-27/13 weekend-- this is first review I have every written, It was disappointing due to the price for the quality of the facility it needed to be in a price range of $75-$80 tops we paid $179 plus tax so basically $200 per night.I was riding in the elevator Monday and other guests were saying they would not be back because the quality of the facility was not equal to the price for staying and I agreed its a must that Tanglewood put some money into the looks its gives you a feeling when you are there it is on its way out. the pool was nice but I just felt like I was in an old 70s movie. The staff was well educated on how to get to Highpoint to rent jet skis, or the tackle box for bait and very attentive and well groomed. The room was clean only issue was no extra roll of toilet paper and I had to go downstairs to get the internet wifi to connect. The breakfast buffet we opted not to have because the eggs were runny and the hash browns were burnt. What I am trying to say is this in a nutshell. Safe, Clean, lovely people but lack the luster of detail when the word RESORT is in the name a guest EXPECTS it to be as Such.
This place was so dead. We had booked it for a weekend in November but we left in a few hours or arrival. Yes, we had decided to stay there but left early.. we did not get a good vibe, the staff was not too welcoming or friendly. The place almost seemed deserted and everything looks 20 years old. They booked us for a villa but it seemed just like a regular two queen bed room with a small studio kitchen. We were disappointed and left.
Very accommodating. When I made a reservation, the only room type available was a double queen, but I made a note that I would prefer a king room if possible. When I checked in, before I could even ask, they informed me that they were able to switch me over without any problem!
Do not buy into this resort!!! Ashley at vacation services will not respond to you at all. We have been trying to book our week for 3 months and cannot get a coherent response or even a call back. They have no idea of customer service. Every time I call, all you get is a voicemail and no response to that voicemail. We have been going during the summer every year since we bought the timeshare with no problem and this year they want to tell us it is a fixed week even after I have sent them the deed proving that it is a floating week. If you are thinking of buying in here dont put yourself through the aggravation. Horrible!
I really enjoy staying here. I have been going here for years. For being isolated they do well with the internet. I know for a fact that areas out that far are limited in what they can get. Just ask any homeowner in the area. The rooms are cozy and they have been renovating a great deal. Stay a while you wont be disappointed.
We visited for an event for the Lake Texoma association. I always enjoy events at Tanglewood. Great service, and good food. I casually mentioned feeling a bit of heartburn, and a server overheard. Moments later I was brought a pitcher of water. Its not often you find people with such attention to detail. The resort itself sometimes feels a bit dated, but the views of Lake Texoma quite make up for it. It is a beautiful place, and a great place for events, and even free WiFi. Multiple pools, hot tubs, a great bar, and it is all moments from the water.
Business conference disaster -Terrible terrible terrible... If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We had a business conference here because we were assured the place was in tip top shape and they had to be lying. The building is falling down with missing ceiling tiles everywhere, their main tower has exposed wood on the outside & broken windows, the rooms smell musty, the road to the property has potholes the size of Volkswagens and the carpeting has to be 20 years old. They are severely understaffed and the staff they have are incompetent. Their Activity Coordinator, Wilena, was rude to several employees and disappeared during activities for long stretches of time. Our complaints to their Director of Operations Marsha were met with indifference and excuses.Do yourself a favor, whether youre travelling for business or pleasure, save yourself embarrassment and headache and avoid this place at all costs.
Pros: Friendly service at the front desk and bar, two swimming pools, pretty view of the lake, lots of space to hang out, and easy access to Eisenhower State Park and Island View ParkCons: Outdated aesthetic, staff doesnt wear masks and no enforcement of patrons to wear masks, saw guests smoking indoors in a public area, not super close to tasty food options
We had a horrible experience here. If anything goes wrong, youll be blamed. Our band played a conference here and their electrical problems fried $12,000 worth of speakers. Management told us it was OUR fault even though our circuit tester showed their power was faulty. Then, they threw the client that we were playing for under the bus and told us that they were responsible! Horrible management! Beware!
We participated in the Red River Rally, a 100 bike rally that started and finished at Tanglewood. The event was perfectly organized and the route couldnt have been better. Now, if Kiwanis could order 70 degrees with a South breeze, that would have been true perfection.
The entire staff seems to need to take lessons in is US government. After calling in and mentioning that the flags were not lowered to half staff out of respect for the passing of President G W H Bush, and notifying them that if they are going to fly the flags at night, they must directly be lit up, I came home today to find the US flag at half staff and the state flag and the Tanglewood marketing flag at full staff. As a family full of vets and active duty military this kind of disregard for the knowledge of the flag codes is truly upsetting. If you refuse to staff a crew to be knowledgeable of the flag codes, then do not fly the flags. For the longest Tanglewood left a US flag flying that was tattered beyond respect. If the GM would like to contact me I would more than graciously link them with the US Sentates most recent update of the Flag Code.
I would rank this course #2 in Texoma Land. Arnie design from the 1960s and very well kept like a real Country Club. This course is best to play the day after a rain. Greens are zoysia and they act like Bent. Green speeds vary from 6-8 on the stimp, depending on the rain history. Nice Staff, good carts, good cart path, fairways are good too after a rain. Beware of groups with multi color carts. These are local members who tend to be slow and play like its for $$$.
Tanglewood was conveniently located by the boat docks at lake Texoma. The rooms were nice and the service was great but a little over priced for what you get which is why I gave it four stars. We were at the lake all day so we just slept there so I cant comment on anything else.
I would like to redirect my earlier statement about the Tower Bar. I truly love this place and it may have been harsh of me to make such a critical statement about Tanglewood. This place is where I come to get away from the pressure of work and stress. I really do enjoy coming here, and will without a doubt continue to come back.So as far as my earlier statement, just take it as I spoke out of line and I am openly admitting it.

2022-04-04We read the reviews before arriving so we managed our expectations accordingly. Honestly, the steakhouse for the price was disappointing but we expected it to be based on what we had read beforehand but we wanted to just try it anyways because aside from the bar and grill, there are really no other food options unless you head down to the marina to that dockside restaurant. We ordered a pricey steak medium rare and it came out medium well but it wasnt the end of the world and the flavor was fine. Otherwise, there is literally nothing to complain about. I did not see a single ant in the hotel. The staff was nothing but extremely responsive and cordial. The pool wasnt done yet but it looks like it will be amazing when it is. The room (we stayed in a king in the main resort) was extremely clean and comfortable. The shower could be compared to a power washer so there is no lack of water pressure. For a couple needing a break from kids, work, or whatever, this place was perfect. The golf course, although pricey for its current condition, was super fun. Overall we had an excellent time and will 100% be back. We loved the tower as well and all of the live music that was provided at numerous locations. Not to mention the sunset from the tower was incredible. So for our needs of R&R, this place totally deserved 5 stars. Loved it.

2022-05-06We went to dinner at the steakhouse. The shrimp cocktail was probably the best we have ever had. The sauce was exceptional. We split the escargot and the scallops. They were both very good too!! Our server, Kat did an exceptional job. She was very attentive and cordial. We are looking forward to our next meal there.

2022-04-16We stayed in the main resort building. It was clean and linens were good. Only complaint about the room was the air conditioner not working well, and the water tasted horrible! It actually didn’t taste good at the restaurant either. The pools were completed but we didn’t use since we were out and about.Don’t recommend bringing kids until construction over. Lots of debris on grounds. Poor drainage created a sink hole that could fit a person. Open construction areas they could wander in to. The room windows open wide open with no screens so a child could fall right out. Over all just not safe. The staff was super friendly and helpful. It wasn’t a bad stay by all means. A place to rest our heads.

2021-12-29Bottom line, would not recommend. Part of the reason of choosing here to stay was an option of heated pools. Little did we know that the heater was broken and we were not told until we asked about it. If you look at their Facebook page, they were courteous enough to inform people of upcoming maintenance on the golf course and that it will be closed on a specific date. That same courtesy was not extended where the pool is concerned. Also, for the price we were paying, we expected a much nicer resort style hotel, which this was not. The beds were horribly uncomfortable and we saw several different bugs in our room. This place fell way below our expectations. Waking up in pain from sleeping on the rock hard beds is enough to not stay again. Also, the whole place is very outdated. We had friends come with us and their experience was even worse than ours. Both of us ended up cutting our stays 2 days short.

2022-03-27We were able to check in early which was great. The hotel was nice and the room was updated. Although, at night and in the morning we tried to shower and the water was Luke warm at best. The restaurant on the second floor was overpriced and very underwhelming. All of the staff that we encountered were very nice. There could define some overall improvements.

2021-11-18My wife and I stayed here over the veterans day weekend in one of the villas. The villa had been recently remodeled and was really nice and clean with updated appliances, and furnishings. The staff was courteous and answered any questions we had. The last night of our stay, we ordered a pizza from the Sports Bar and it was quite good. The only reason the resort is getting a three star rating from us instead of 5 is the shower head in our villa had not been updated and was barely functional. The water pressure was so bad my wife and I had to wash our hair in the kitchen sink. I let the resort know about our issue and hopefully they will fix it soon. Otherwise, the villa was great!

2022-06-26Hotel room is way overpriced for the quality of the room. The mattress was the most uncomfortable I’ve ever experienced at a hotel. The sheets and pillows were very cheap quality and uncomfortable. They claim it’s a luxury resort, but they supply one ply toilet paper…. At least they give you a coffee pot even if it is sitting on the floor. Also, if you plan on relaxing in your room, you can enjoy your 480p television with basic cable. Save your money and go to an actual “luxury” resort.

2021-12-05I would have love to give this place a 5 star review but I honestly feel like we were profiled at check in. My husband and I decided to an early celebration for my upcoming birthday. We Google and called to check available and rates. We inquired about that Master Villa we were told a rate but also told we did not have to reserve our room because there was plenty of availability. We offered to secure the room with credit card but the rep again declined stated we can take care of everything when we arrived. So my husband I drove 2 hours only to get there and the price double! We were planing on staying two nights but after feel like the price increase was due to our skin color we decided to just take the one night. Honestly we would have just not checked in but the drive and the ride was a little ways back to our home. The staff act as if they never spoke to us at all. We will never go back to this place at all. Y’all really need to do better.

2022-01-20Its like a place thats trying to play Hotel and restaurant.. Villas are very nicely appointed and very spacious... Maintenance of property is in the toilet.. and apparently a party place cause they host parties in the villas. Two of the three nights we had parties on the same floor. In room spas are neat but their heating element died, they couldnt fix it and the next morning no one had a clue that it was broken.. rendering all spas and showers without hot water in the villas. Thank God it was on checkout. Management is glaringly vacant from the property with NO return phone call. Also was told sometimes hot and cold faucets are switched sometimes in error per front desk. They truly have no clue what it takes to run a hotel. Plus lots of Bait-n-switch moments... heated pools advertised.. not open, online menu shows great menu.. but once seated, menu is cut in half and double the price... fancy (reservations required) for fine dining experience next to space heaters cause the restaurant does not have heat. Joke of a property.. maybe one day when real hotel Management shows up it will be worth going to again.

2022-03-19Tangelwood is a great resort for families. Because of this Im giving them 4 stars for a good review.I am a little disappointed the pools were all closed. I called about 2 weeks before our stay and asked if theyd be open for Springbreak because I saw a previous post. The front desk said they hoped so. I called the day of arrival and asked again, the front desk said the pool company is on site and implied they were working daily as if the pools would be completed soon. The pools are not even almost done. Theyre infact being completely busted down. One pool has new gunite the other two were still in the process of being destroyed. My guess, theyll be lucky to have them done by May.Yes, the beds are awful. We looked at one of the tags and its dated from 2000. Theyre awful and badly need an update. The steak house was the worst $400.00 dollar meal weve ever had. There are very limited options and the food was over cooked and way over seasoned. The pre-selected sides were poorly chosen and low quality. The bar and grill was good and very accommodating for everyone. The Tangelwood staff did go above and beyond to try to give the kiddos a good experience since most amenities were not available. This included daily arts and crafts and bounce houses both in and outdoor. The spa was wonderful and one of the best massage and facials Ive had in years.Yes the buildings are outdated and there are new owners who are trying to turn this place around.Overall I give it 4 stars. They were welcoming, friendly, and trying. While we typically expect outdated facilities from our timeshare, we enjoy being in a home like environment. Our luxury villa included a washer and dryer, dishwasher and full kitchen. Our balcony had no lighting and we couldnt get that corrected, we also did not call the front desk for this. Therefore Im only noting it.We did have a small issue with the resort flooding our balcony we called the front desk and come to find out a repairman was replacing a hot water heater and set the old one to drain off the wooden balcony above us. We called the front desk and they immediately came out to see what was going on and stopped by to explain the situation. It wasnt ideal but an honest mistake and they were honest and upfront about it.We will plan to stay again next year and hope for new beds and are excited to see the progress. I truly believe this resort will do great things in the future .
