If you need a place to stay I HIGHLY recommend this place. A short story that there are still good people. My 13 year old son left his AIRPOD pro in the room. We checked out and were on our way home. I receive a call they had found it in our room (of course momma didnt know he left 1). They said they would return it to us. I made it home sent them a shipping label and the next day it was in my hands. They are the BEST!!!!! We will be going back. Shout out their employee Angelica Menchu!!! THANK YOU AGAIN
Neat hotel in a great location. Its just 1 block from TAMU Engineering buildings, and nestled within a bunch of fabulous food + retail options + movie theater), but hard to find (even with a navigation app!), since we couldnt spot the signage (until youre in the middle of the commercial parcel. Tastefully designed, but missing a bike (!) in their gym (along with mats to stretch on). Hopefully, they can get those items fixed. Super-tall ceilings and quiet rooms, but super-shallow pool in full view of Juanitas restaurant diners (so no child over 5 years of age can drown, I guess?). Head to The Georges sister hotel (The Calvary) 200 ft away to get keycard to gym with 1 bike (& a deeper pool, plus ping pong table!).
We stayed at the George for the first time ... it was very good value for money . They had a neat coffee / fridge / lollies bar .Valet parking is provided as expected ... but I dropped off my wife and parked in the garage for hotel guests about 100 yards away where the theater is also. Note it seemed most on street parking was paid or reserved.Coffee in the room was Ok but there is backup coffee at the bar free for the road ...Request a room facing the East or West in my opinion that way you will get a University view or a view across to Bryan.Update ... I registered and they gave me a Birthday Special upgrade sparkling wine (chilled) and chocolate desert and chocolate covered strawberries ... I was most impressed,
Aggie here who graduated in 2011 (pre SEC), needless to say BCS has gotten a lot more fancy since I left. I had a fellow Aggie recommend I stay at the George while I was in town to take the NCLEX (big national certifying board exam). Well I was not disappointed. The hotel is gorgeous, very Texas (love), and reasonably priced (they did offer a military discount but I had to call. Would have loved to us ID.me for easier online booking). The bar in the lobby was well stocked and had great hours though I didn’t use it. I did visit Porter’s the steakhouse that I a mere 10ft from the lobby and it was delicious. The guest services staff were amazing!!!!!! Rachel and Hope were the epitome of charming, hospitable and gracious hosts. Rachel helped me check in, get a lay of the land of the hotel, amenities and eating options close by. She gave me a complimentary breakfast voucher for the AM so I wasn’t worried about breakfast before my exam (loved breakfast being available early). I had an issue with my room (the bathroom door wouldn’t close which was super weird). Rachel set me up with a room upgrade for the inconvenience. The next two days Hope happened to be working whenever I needed anything. She was more than accommodating and helpful in getting me moved to my new room and an extra parking pass. I had a wonderful experience at The George and will certainly be coming back. Side note, the beds were very comfortable. I normally wake up after a nights sleep in a hotel with back pain and both nights I slept well and woke up rested with no back pain. The hotel is walking distance to campus, Kyle Field and Northgate. Highly recommend! Thanks and Gig ‘em!
There was a tornado warning for the county Monday night. Skywarn spotters were reporting rotation southeast of town. We went down to find the tornado shelter area. The first floor is about 80% glass. The girl at the front desk related she did not know where the shelter area was. She had only been employed there 4 days. She suggested we ask the bartender. The bartender said he thought it was in the back but didnt know. We were approached 15 minutes later who showed us the designated area in the kitchen storeroom and certain offices behind the front desk. Thankfully the storm passed over us without a tornado. What place in Texas doesnt have a storm shelter plan?By the way we had more than 9 tornados in Texas that night.
The rooms were nice other than the bugs, but that is probably just a college station thing. The young staff at the desk and the restaurants around the facility are naively annoying, as if they are only at work because they have no other choice. The TVs were out for a day. Engineering was called but it took nearly 24 hours. Unfortunately, it was just not worth the price charged.
It’s nice enough but DO NOT let them put you on the second floor, especially if you’re anywhere near the sky bridge. The bar is so loud on weekends it feels like it’s right outside your door. It really needs a redesign or they shouldn’t be putting people in those rooms.
We had such an amazing stay here, Randa and Morgan made sure we had everything we needed for a stress free weekend! We got great nearby bar and restaurant recommendations, the shops are super cute and the vibes are immaculate. We haven’t been back to CS in a while, and it’s SO NICE to finally have a place to stay or a place we can recommend to family if they go in town. 10/10!!
Stayed at the George during a business trip. The hotel was great! My room was clean and comfy. The hotel is situated in the heart of the city centre. On one of my days I was greeted with complimentary vouchers for food and drinks from Alyssa!! I ended up grabbing a steak from the the hotel restaurant. I enjoyed my dinner on my balcony.
As a first-time (far) away from home, The Geroge was the perfect stop to settle in and get to know the city of College Station and attend the first week of graduate school. It is located in Century Square which has a lot of good restaurants, coffee shops, and retail stores.Initially, I planned to stay for two nights, but I ended up extending for about two weeks for multiple reasons. One of which is that I loved the lounge atmosphere and how friendly the staff was, especially Hope at the front desk. She was very welcoming and supportive of my transition to the US, and always walked the extra mile to make sure my stay was comfortable. At The George, I met a lot of interesting people whom I made friends with and enjoyed a lot of passing conversations with strangers. Now that I moved across the street into my new apartment, I still plan to spend my mornings in The Geroge lounge from time to time where Ill be meeting w/ friends and perhaps meet new ones.
We stayed at The George for the first time in September ‘21 for our Aggie’s Ring dunk weekend! We loved it! The hotel is beautiful and clean! Alyssa, at the front desk, was extremely helpful with anything we needed for our stay! We spent time at the hotel lobby/bar with our friends! It was a really fun weekend! The sheep in the elevator was an added bonus! Ask about it! Haha!
The George is so close to TAMU campus! Just across from Zachary Engineering building and the new Polo garage area. Super sweet gals at check in. The hotel is tucked away in the heart of the Century Square development. Plenty of trendy dining and shopping options and a movie theatre just steps away.
We had our wedding reception in the Statesman Ballroom at The George Hotel. It was an absolute magical experience and made our special day so wonderful and unforgettable. The staff was very accommodating and so sweet and kind to not only us but our family and guest and just went above and beyond in everything they did. The 1791 bar was great and we had a blast hanging out in the George lobby having drinks and playing shuffle board the night before our wedding. The reception was set up beautifully and the food was to die for, we still have guest bragging about the food, especially the Mac and cheese bar! We definitely encourage you to consider the George when looking for a reception venue, they will make all your dreams come true like they did for us!
My fiancé and I stayed here the weekend of 12/10-12/11. We paid for the romance package which was well worth it. However, the front desk never mentioned the free valet. No biggie. We ran into a major issue with our room and unfortunately we couldn’t be moved as all the rooms were booked.Anna, the GM of the properties took swift action. She placed my fiancé and I into a suite with their sister property, comp’d our stay and gave us a comp’d dinner as well. She was superb along with the rest of the staff. Our issue made us leave the room immediately leaving behind our freshly popped champagne and strawberries. Once Anna discovered this had happened, she immediately sent us a new bottle along with a dessert/fruit platter. A very nice and thoughtful apology letter was left with everything. (We arrived later from driving around town to discover this. How nice!)While I won’t discuss the issue we had as I believe they will correct it, I can honestly say we will be back for another stay in our future. Please don’t be discouraged by our experience as I believe our issues was a 1/1,000,000. They completely made up for the issue we faced.
My husband and I stayed at the George for our anniversary. This is a boutique-style hotel. In my opinion, the hotel is more for looks than comfort. The bed was as solid as a rock. The extra blanket is of wool. The front desk attendant did not know we had paid for the romance pkg, which has velvet parking as part of the package. He didnt even realize what we had paid for, and if I hadnt known, we wouldnt have received the service. Also, it would be nice to know that reservations are highly recommended for Porters. The room is extremely humid where everything felt wet. There should definitely be instructions to work the thermometer.
I recently stayed at The George and had a lovely experience! Upon checking in, I noticed a delicious scent in the lobby and discovered that the hotel apparently has its own signature scent and it was such a nice addition to my welcome! The service was great, specifically the house manager Cameron was so delightful and provided top notch service. My room was very comfortable and the front desk staff made sure that I didnt need for anything. The overall room decor was super luxe and the bed had a cool headboard with nice belt detailing that really took it over the edge. 10/10 would recommend.
The George... Wonderful. Like other reviews, we loved the proximity to numerous restaurants, small boutique shopping, and the Buster Keaton film, *The General* was playing while we waited for the elevator. Some details: the glorious old oaks that stand stately around the courtyard grounds. The rooms are roomy, and well appointed. Beautiful and (you can still enjoy a can of pringles!)The bed and sheets... perfect for deep sleep! And, the staff... genuine caring and exceptional... especially Grace! She gave us a great room, accommodating our flexible needs. We will be back! Thank you for a good stay.
Didnt stay at the hotel because we couldnt get a room on short notice. Went to the bar and checked out the hotel, which was indeed as upscale as we expected. Artwork around the hotel was awesome, and the Old Fashioned we had at the bar was excellent. Hopefully we will be able to stay at The George on our next trip to College Station.
Unique and lovely hotel located in Century Court, an upscale shopping center. Just walk out the hotel door and you’ll find interesting shops, a variety of restaurants and bars, a cinema and green space for little kids to burn off energy. It would be a great place to stay on game day; safe, relaxing and as much or as little entertainment as you desire. The staff was courteous, the rooms were well decorated and the shop in the lobby had cute items. The bar and pool area were upscale and the coffee/breakfast bar was decent considering we stayed in mid-March while Covid restrictions were still in effect.
I was supposed to stay at The George in a suite on my wedding night. Prior to check-in, I received an email from The George saying my stay would cost $63,000…clearly a mistake. No one from the hotel reached out to me about the astronomical bill. I had to call to confirm it was a mistake with their software. On the night of my wedding I arrived at the hotel with my husband. We went to the front desk to check-in and they said the AC in our room was broken and they had a comparable room reserved at Cavalry Court. Management was aware that it was our wedding night and did not notify us of the change ahead of time or anything. Cavalry Court was nice, but not what I wanted on my wedding night!!!! I would have stayed at a different hotel had I known ahead of time.
Stayed here for a night and while the room and atmosphere were awesome the thermostat was pretty confusing. I set it to 69 and while it said it was 69 it felt like 80. I payed for the 3PM late check out which I loved but was interrupted 5 times by housekeeping and management. They didn’t even realize I had payed for late check out. Kind of annoying and hard to sleep when there is constant knocking.
Its a beautiful hotel and the bar is really nice however they missed the mark on a few things:Pros:1. Great bar!2. Comfty bed3. Beautiful decor (although theres a smoke smell constantly)4. Complementary coffee and muffins5. Great gym6. Free parking garage7. Right across the street from campusCons1. The ac sucks and the rooms are very humid. We even tried putting the air down to 66 and it was barely blowing.2. The water pressure is terrible in the shower and doesnt get very hot.3. Tv remote didnt work4. Tv is also in an awkward positionWould I recommend? Eh, we wouldnt stay here again.
We stayed here the night of our wedding and it is so beautiful. We got upgraded to an executive suite and everything was amazing. My favorite part of the room was the giant bathtub and the view of century square! All the amenities are beautiful also. I would stay over again and recommend it to all!
I had never been to College Station and work scheduled a last minute meeting. They booked me at The George. When I got there, the Hotel was really nice. Grace greeted me and she was absolutely wonderful. I had an issue with the way the room was booked and Grace understood what the problem was and immediately took care of it. The room was fantastic, the gym has cardio and machine weights, and the location is walking distance to many restaurants and retail . If you are looking to stay in College Station across the street from Campus, this Hotel is perfect.
This has to be the best hotel in College Station!!!! Super clean, amazing service, great atmosphere, and best location! Every time I visit, I have to stay at this hotel. I love how they offer valet and treat you like royalty. As soon as you enter, you get this sweet smell and instantly feel at home. The hotel also includes free breakfast, which is honestly mediocre. I wish they offered more options like pancakes, waffles, hash browns, etc. Overall, still the best and cleanest hotel in the city!!! Will visit again once this craziness is over 😊👍🏽
The bed was uncomfortable, room was dirty when I arrived with trash on the floor under the sink and something sticky was on the entrance floors, and the only glass that was provided had lipstick on it. I was also charged for items missing from the honor bar, which were missing when I arrived. Will not be returning.
We visited The George for one night as part of a girls’ getaway to celebrate several occasions including my 50th. What a gem! Everything about it from the kind and attentive staff, to the high end rooms and amenities, portrays class and excellence. And it smells amazing- people aren’t joking about that. And the convenience! We had intended to go out that night but with the live music at their next door sister hotel and many food options only steps away- there was no need!We did have an issue with noise from a guest in the neighboring room and they were quick to resolve the situation with the attention of the best hotels. And all the places to take pics! You won’t be disappointed! And if you are lucky enough to have Kennadie helping you at the front desk, you can rest assured that she will be taking excellent care of you during your stay. I can’t say enough good things about her!So if you are wondering if The George is worth a stay, it definitely is! We are already planning our next trip!
Beautiful, upscale hotel in a great location in BCS.Unfortunately our stay wasnt as ideal as wed hoped, though. It was my first time staying for business and hoped to make it my home away from home going forward, but wasnt able to get a good nights rest. The issue was related to the AC vent that was directly above the head of the bed. It built up condensation throughout the night and would drip small droplets of water randomly, every few minutes, which would sometimes land directly on my head/face throughout the night, waking me up.I brought the concern to the front desk at checkout, and had another guest who stated they had a similar problem in their room. While the workers behind the desk were pleasant and professional, they couldnt do anything for the trouble except encourage me to call ahead after making a future reservation to ensure that proper steps are taken to make sure it doesnt happen again. She then went on to explain that because it was a balcony room, it was a common issue and encouraged to maybe reserve a standard room next time so that the issue would be less likely... Oof!Also noticed a lot of condensation build up above the 4th floor elevator entry/exit which suggested it was an ongoing problem throughout many areas of the hotel.UPDATE (7/19/21): A month and a half later, never heard from a member of the management team despite optimism from response below.
Nice place to stay. Plenty to do within walking distance and polite professional staff. Rooms arent huge but arent unnecessarily cramped. My big complaint is that there is no room in the in room fridge for any kind of leftovers, your own drinks, nada. It is chock full of their mini bar selections and that is just silly. Of course put some mini bar stuff in there but dang leave folks some room for other incidental items.EDIT: I do feel like I did not say enough about what a nice place this is to stay. Very clean, there are firepits outside to congregate around, full bar in the lobby, and several great restaurants and entertainment options very near by. Again, the staff is courteous and efficient and will go a long way to help you out. In short, this wasnt meant to be a big complaint, just a note. If you look below you will see their response that proves that the staff is engaged and looking to make your stay as nice as possible.
The look, decor and feel of the hotel is magnificent, the scent is whimsical. It has a peaceful romantic ambience. The lobby offers a boutique-style display for items to purchase, albeit overpriced, especially the candles. The lobby restrooms are 5-star! The rooms are beautifully decorated, some are a little small, but the look is beautiful. It was so lovely done! The toiletries offered have the same captivating scent of the George. The coffee is Bad. You simply can’t start the day with that coffee... also, the rooms don’t have condiments for your coffee. You must run downstairs to get cream or sugar options. The complimentary breakfast is a joke.. it’s cereal and toast laid out on their bar. The coffee served for breakfast is pitiful, it’s extremely watered down, bland, no flavor at all. The morning is rough at The George, you’re looking at a 1-star hotel to start your day. It’s a cheat and it feels like a cheat. This place has incredible potential, I hate the 1-star coffee and breakfast. It could have been the most amazing experience. But the breakfast and coffee were a solid fail. My partner even now, describes the coffee as the worst he’s ever had. Please fix the coffee situation in the rooms and dining area. Also, please place cream and sugar options in the rooms! We are giving this place another shot this weekend, hoping they will fulfill their potential. 🤞🏼.
The George is one of the NICEST, CLEANEST, most WELL THOUGHT OUT hotels my wife and I have ever stayed in.Excellent staff. Knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. Especially one young lady named Anna. She works at the front desk and told me that she was an Aggie (we forgave her) studying Hotel Management. That tells me that The George Hotel ownership group, Valencia, cultivates young and motivated people to work at their hotels. The themes of their Boutique Hotel Developments are spot on paying homage to themes like our Military and a famous pioneer of America’s railroad system. George Pullman. They are obviously able to take a concept and make it come to life paying attention to the smallest details like the first silent motion picture (The Great Train Robbery) being projected onto the wall as you walk out of the elevators. Also the themed carpet leading us to our room was filled with Texas city names and made to look like an old railroad itinerary. Our favorite aspect was the GIANT RESTROOMS AND WALK IN SHOWERS! It made us realize how every other hotel we’ve stayed in didn’t mind their patrons being forced to get ready for the day separately.
This hotel was great and like others said, should be the standard for all hotels. The service was awesome. The room was nice and clean, with a very modern Texas feel to it. Overall I had a great experience. That being said, I had to knock it one star due to the shower fixture. Seems like they went fashion over function on it and I struggled to find a temp that wasnt scolding hot. Could have been just the room I got maybe.
Beautiful new facility - parking should be better as soon as the new garage opens. Fun facts on the shower walls.Second stay - not so good:This was our second stay at The George. We came back for a meeting and chose to stay here again as it is charming and unique. This time we were disappointed. The room staff failed to replenish our shampoo, conditioner and soap - we were here 3 nights with 2 people. Those tiny bottles dont cut 6 showers.Additionally, the hotel staff threw out our leftover food that we had saved for a meal during our travel back home. The breakfast was adequate - not great. The desk staff and bar staff were nice.
Called today, Monday, August 24, 2020, and spoke with Therese. I informed her that it was my sister and brother-laws 41st wedding anniversary. and that they would be staying there tomorrow. I had a few questions and requests. She was accommodating, sweet, and truly went over and beyond with excellent customer service. The next time we come to Aggielamd, we will be sure to stay at The George. A hotel that appreciates their guests!Thank you, Therese for such wonderful customer service!!Penny Cumby
This review is strictly for the lounge/bar service. Met 2 friends for drinks on 1/23 around 7p at the bar. Ordered 2 beers and 2 martinis. Bartenders behind the counter tells us they only have one beer glass and no olives for martinis. How do you not have beer glasses? How do you not have olives for martinis? Funny part was - there was no one there. The bar was basically empty. You guys have to do a better job, thats inexcusable for a nice hotel lobby bar like that.
We stayed at the George and had a wonderful time. Parking was free if you parked in the garage, but there was a little walk involved. We were pleasantly surprised with the free breakfast in Porters restaurant in the morning. The room was great and liked the saying in tile in the bath - All Hat No Cattle Highly recommend.
We had an amazing stay here. My husband and I agreed it was probably the best value for the dollar of any place we’ve ever stayed. They did something special for my husband’s birthday, they have a great bar and food attached, and the room was great. Shout out to the new bartender from Nashville (didn’t catch his name) who went above and beyond.
My wedding party and I stayed at this beautiful hotel the day before my wedding. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is very welcoming! The hotel is also surrounded by local shops and restaurants that you can walk to! We all loved the sheep and the small details this hotel had to offer! If you are in college station and looking for a place to stay look no further! You won’t be disappointed
Im a Longhorn and bleed orange, but I was forced to stay at The George this week due to a business trip...and I loved it!This hotel isnt huge, its only got four floors, but it feels like its empty. It is so wonderfully decorated that I felt like I was almost in a movie. For once I was able to stay in a hotel that wasnt drenched in WHITE floors and light-colored drapes and carpeting in the room or hallways. Theyve got a dim light in the hallways that almost makes it seem Pulp Fiction-y.The SMELL of the hotel is like a man youd want to pick you up at a bar -- its awesome. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to anyone who is forced to go to College Station and stay the night. I loved that the rooms were sound-proof and the bed was so comfortable.I will say that I dont like that the refrigerator is FILLED with stuff -- I couldnt put anything in it to stay cool because the mini bar literally filled the volume of the refrigerator. I also really didnt care for the ironing board -- it was short and not very long so my pants were difficult to iron since Im not a short man.But aside from those minuscule things, I love this place and they need to develop more throughout the state.
This place is amazing, the smell of pine when you first walk in was so welcoming and decorated with the holiday spirit. Check in was a breeze and the front desk staff was very friendly. We were in town running the Marathon and the hotel was convenient and let us do late check out so we could shower before heading back to Austin. The room and showers were decorated in good taste, it did not feel like we were at a hotel. The only con would be cleaning more nooks and corners in the room.
Terrific hotel right across the street from Texas A&M and walking distance to North Gate. Its quite new so feels really fresh. Restaurants in the building/complex are terrific. Im now only staying here when I visit College Station. My room last night was $147 and I booked it the same day. Good bar. Nice folks. Parking is a bit tricky. Its in the garage not around the building. They do have valet though.
Cons:Our room was hot! we called the hotel maintenance staff and they promptly arrived to rectify the issue. Upon leaving the room, they told us that it was good to go, but we noticed no improvement with the temperature. It was a cold weekend, so we ended up sleeping with the sliding door open to allow the cool, outside air into our room. The shower door would not close either.Pros:The location is very convenient as it is across the street from campus. Century square is nice as well with a plethora of restaurants and bars to choose from. The hotel did give us a $50 credit on our room as an attempt to offset the air conditioning issues. For the price, I think well stick to Home 2 suites or the Hampton on the corner of Texas Ave. & University Dr. in the future.
This is a unique and overall a very well run hotel. Many small touches, the sheep moving around, shower wall quote, but without a doubt, the old movies showing on the wall while waiting on the elevator was not only a nice touch, a very good idea other hotels should pick up on. Staff was very competent and well trained. It was a madhouse when we arrived, and the front desk person was composed and did what she could to meet our request for room changes. Facilities well maintained. Coffee in rooms, if you use filtered water, is pretty good. Rooms were appointed, well enough. We did not eat the breakfast there, so cant comment. Overall, a very good experience.Cons....Location, while very convenient, when it is busy (as it is on game weekend) it is a nightmare to get in and out of, not a very thought out design on check in/out vehicle. Once that is done parking is free, and not too far away. It was rated 4.5 stars and had no bellman to help with luggage? That needs to be addressed. The beds were the only really negative from my point of view...and they were BAD, VERY BAD! It was a good value to be sure, will stay there again, without question! Well done, management and staff!
Loved it. Beautiful design throughout, very friendly and helpful front desk agents and clean, comfortable rooms. The shower water pressure was great and instantly has hot water when you turn the faucet before you ever get to the cold water so it was really nice each morning. Great coffee and a simple continental breakfast of fruit and pastries in the bar area. Location wise is amazing, it’s surrounded by restaurants and right by campus. The Canteen was great, hopdoddy burgers and several other places with steaks to crepes and a nitrogen ice cream place. Free parking in the garage nearby. The only drawback is the distance from the elevators some rooms are so you might check with the front desk. I was in the 360 range of rooms and the building makes a giant U shape with the elevators on the tip of the one side so it’s a quite a walk back to the room if you forget something. The bed was very comfortable and easy to use climate control. I definitely wanted to stay more nights than I did.
My husband and I were celebrating our 50th. They were just 20 minutes late with our room,(no big deal to us) The manager came and offered to upgrade us to a suite, at no extra cost! Both days! It was wonderful! So clean, and comfortable. Near every thing we wanted to do...
Spent this weekend at The George with my family which includes a 9 & 10 year old and we absolutely loved everything about this place. Lots for kids to do, plenty of great dining on and off property. Employees and Manager were so welcoming and helpful throughout our entire stay! Beautiful decor, breakfast was yummy and rooms were perfect with plenty of room for a family of four! We will be back.
Excellent, contemporary hotel! The rooms were clean and large. The bath towels were even large not like normal hotels over- sized hand towels. Loved the decor and the location with shopping and the ice cream. Definitely staying here any time we come back to College Station!
Overall it was okay. The ambiance downstairs was cool. They have shuffleboard, chess, a nice sitting area, and big windows. The elevators made weird noises sometimes and shook, which doesnt help someone who doesnt like elevators lol. The remote on the room felt greasy and I did not want to touch it. The outlets by the bed were too loose for my chargers so one night I woke up, and I mustve tapped the cable slightly, because my phone didnt charge and was dead. The parking was not good. I was going to valet, but there was no one at the booth. All the other parking is a decent walk away. My biggest gripe is that they played loud music until 11 on a Saturday night. Yeah I get it, its a college town. But lets be real, what college student is going to be partying at this hotel when they could just go to Northgate? This hotel is obviously for adults and parents, so its frustrating that they play loud EDM music, preventing me from going to sleep.
The George was a fantastic place to stay!! The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The staff was really nice and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. You have access to so many stores and restaurants within walking distance. Thwy have bicycles you can borrow to explore. Texas A &M is just across the way. The book wall dedicates to Barbara Bush is amazing!
ABSOLUTE WORST STAY OF MY LIFE. I traveled from San Antonio, Texas to stay in what I thought was a 4 star stay.. WRONG. First we were charged 22.00 dollars for valet. We had to get our own vehicle. 2nd the two night bar tenders acted as if we weren’t financially stable enough to enjoy this hotel. We were double charged and embarrassed in front of other customers. The rooms are hot. And we found a fingernail on one of our pillow cases.... I would recommend sleeping in your vehicle before staying here. Absolutely the most unpleasant stay of my entire life. And never will return.
This hotel is really conveniently located next to lots of restaurants and the university. My room was very comfortable and the bathroom had a lot of space. I would definitely recommend this hotel and plan to stay here again! My only complaint is that there isnt good signage on how to get to the hotel from University (or if there is I didnt see it) and the self-parking garage is across the courtyard from the hotel. Its not a long walk but when I stayed here it was really cold and I wasnt keen on being out in it. Id probably pay for the valet next time if the weather is bad.
Probably a nice place for a family, but not a business friendly hotel. There was no office chair to work in, just a wooden chair with a pad. The parking garage is a hike. Breakfast is purely continental with no hot food. The shower adjustment for hot or cold was not marked at all. After guessing how to adjust the water temperature then calling the front desk, I discovered that it didnt work, so I got a really hot shower. On the plus side, the rooms are attractive and nicely decorated.
Our room was on the second floor and there was a random sheep statue in the middle of the hallway with a broken leg and the broken leg shard was laying next to the sheep statue. We were staying there with a 5 year old and a 2 year old and our bathroom only had a shower, no tub.At check-in we asked for a cot for our daughter and they forgot. We had to call guest services and request it a second time. The cot was also extremely bumpy and uncomfortable. At check-in they said they would serve breakfast pastries the next morning. When we came down at 8:00am the next morning we were told there would be no breakfast pastries. The location was great, but we won’t be staying here again.
I have had three stays at the George in the last two weeks. The staff was incredibly helpful accommodating my needs when I was there helping my son post-surgery. There are several restaurants you can walk to (with more opening soon) and a great continental breakfast provided by the hotel. The rooms are nice with large walk-in showers. This hotel is at the top of my list in College Station!
I was in town and chose the George because it was close by and I needed a room last minute. When I got to the room it was so nice I had to call the front desk and confirm the nightly rate. Anytime I’m in college station, the George will be my first pick of places to stay.
Four-star hotel located in Century Square on the northern side of Texas A&M, across from Lot #50. Stay included self-parking, access to pool, gym, and a limited continental breakfast. The hotel is likely the highest-end establishment in the College Station and Bryant area, with two restaurants on the hotels property, a higher-end cocktail bar, and optional valet parking. The standard room is moderate in size with a larger bathroom; bath tubs are only available in suites (per staff). The hotel is located within Century Square, a still-developing shopping a restaurant area with some choices for food and suites, so its very possible to walk to a nearby place for a bite to eat. Hotel room was nice, complimentary breakfast was a bit on the small side, but suitable. Have stayed at several Valencia properties before, can recommend this one, although I wish my VVIP membership actually gave awards away. Special note: they do charge a Century Square District Fee, amounted to about $5.00 additional. This was added to other occupancy taxes.
Interesting facility but not worth the price. The front desk looks professional but don’t seems to care much of your stay. The room has interesting furnitures, but not functional. The location is great, right across TAMU and surround by restaurants. If you do not want to pay for the expensive water at the hotel, make sure you purchase your water before you come, there is no grocery store near by.
Nice hotel but has a lot very anti-human designs. There are not enough towel racks in the bathroom. The toilet paper is too thin. The two tap faucets open to two different directions. The platform in the shower has a slope so my shampoo bottle kept falling off. Most of all, the bed lamp switch is so high that I almost had to stand up to reach it. Honestly, I could fall over the bed and break my neck in the middle of the night darkness trying to turn it on. I suspect that the hotel manager never experienced the rooms himself. Also, there’s a left-over shampoo in the shower. How’s that possible?
I booked 2 rooms 6 months ago and requested connecting rooms. I checked with Valerie 4 days from my stay about the connecting rooms. We have small kids so it is a must. She was terrible. The answer short and sweet was no confirmation on connecting room. I asked again and offered to pay more as many hotels required. She again she hotel policy and dryly asked if I wanted to cancel. I did. This place looks nice but the policies and customer service are from the dark ages. Run away if you need anything other a key and shower. Terrible, terrible.
Great location, great ambiance. Fun little hotel. Staff was accommodating, room was comfy, breakfast was nice and light (continental) which suits my needs. Perfect for my annual stay for TAMU softball camp. Also very reasonably priced. Hope it stays that way! See y’all next year for 2019 softball camp.
I would have given 5 stars but unfortunately the staff and a team of young kids door dashing ruined my experience. Not just a mild knock and run, but this team of boys knocked so hard we literally thought there was something that had seriously happened. We all dashed to the door to hear a team of boys giggling and trying to escape in the elevator. My 4 yr old was terrified by the crashing noise....all of us were a bit shaken. I caught the boys in the elevator and had them all come to the front desk so they can call their parents. The young lady (I will not post her name) at the front desk spoke to me like I was a child. “Mam, we are going to take care of it”, with a tone as she is trying to shuffle the ‘situation’ under the mat before anyone else hears or sees there was an issue. I waited for the boys to sit down around the corner and continued to let this young lady (who is more than half my age) that I did not appreciate the way she spoke to me. This little gal doesn’t know what customer service is, and definitely doesn’t know how to speak to her elders, or how about, paying customers in general.Long story short, beautiful rooms, clean, extremely comfortable. Staff.....there needs to be more training the front desk staff in handling issues and how to be respectful, professional.Unfortunately you can’t help a group of kids door dashing, but I would have expected that kind of behavior at the Motel 6, not the George.
Wow! Such a great spot to stay in College Station and an easy walk to Texas A&M campus. There are plenty of shopping and restaurants from which to choose and the rooms are very well decorated and nice. They only have a small continental breakfast included in the room price but if you want a bigger breakfast there are numerous choices right outside the hotel door.
3/12/19We very much enjoyed our stay at The George. Decor is part Texas and part modern. Wonderful staff. We used valet and cost is comperable to hotels in San Antonio, Galveston, Houston, etc. No surprise there. Valet let us know that after midnight the desk would retrieve our car. Checking in was a breeze. Our room was very comfortable, clean, and quiet. (I would recommend different thermostat. Didnt realize that it had to be turned on. Then it was easy peasy.) The old time movies projected in the elavator waiting area was something Ive never seen before. Loved it. Awesome bar. The bartender was a super nice guy. Plenty of places to sit and relax. Enjoyed the rocking chairs. Great outdoor areas with benches. Nearby restaurants within walking distance. Cold weather so pool water was cold but grandson took the plunge anyway. All areas handicap accessible. Def will stay again. Hopefully soon as the bluebonnets are fixin to bloom.
Beautiful hotel with fun unique characteristics and friendly staff. I was frustrated that they do not have a soda or water machine. You can go downstairs and get a bottle of water, or you have to get a soda from the honor bar for $3.00. For people having to take medication in the morning, and who do not realize that you have to go downstairs, it is a hassel. Bring your own drinks before you get to the hotel.
Fabulous boutique hotel. Very interesting and unique decor. Service was spot on. Needs a room food service, though. Didn’t visit the gym or eat at their restaurant or breakfast bar. We ate a full breakfast across the street at their brother hotel, The Cavalry Court. Used the valet daily for parking. Great service there also. Would stay here again!
Fabulous spot for a weekend getaway to College Station. The room was spacious, the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating and the continental breakfast far exceeded our expectations (they stuck with what works in this environment - fresh fruit, amazing pastries, fresh yogurt, cold cereal, etc. - without trying to overreach into scrambled eggs or pancakes as so many hotels now attempt). The only inconvenience is parking. When we checked out, it was raining and accessing our car was a minor inconvenience.
Hotel is very accommodating and the asthetics are wonderful. They go there extra mile for you to be comfortable in your room. Staff was great and it was easy getting a room. The stay itself was also very enjoyable. There has been alot of money poured into this. In sum, for college station this is one of the high end modern hotels to bunk at.
Will not be going back. Despite having an interesting lobby, The george has an unprofessional, unaccommodating staff and several technical difficulties. First, they have music performers on weekend nights until 11pm, but the 2nd floor (A floor with guests rooms) is open to the 1st floor. This means the music performances can be heard throughout the 2nd floor (very clearly from every room as my family had 3 rooms around the 2nd floor). When I informed the staff that TA&M graduation was at 8am the next morning and that the volume should be turned down, they childishly turned the volume up. Also, the valet didnt know where I could park if I didnt use valet. My room was not available until 3 hours after I was originally told it would be ready. The refrigerator in my room was broken when I arrived and needed a staff member to come fix it. It took, and Im not exaggerating, five minutes to get hot water in my shower. The cold water knob of my sink was loose and detached from the counter. The outlets in my room were too loose to hold my phone charger in. The guide on the tv was not working so said every channels information was unavailable. I honestly think the only reason this hotel has 3 stars is because of the interesting vibe/decoration. I say its NOT worth the money. Stay somewhere else when in college station.
Very nice Hotel! Very clean and inviting. My only hangups were the shower (only a few seconds of hot water). Also, not telling me that I would get charged an extra $50 temporarily when I specifically asked before I left. I watch my accounts like a hawk and I despise surprises. Fix those things and the 5th star is yours. I will def be back.
The hotel was amazing and I definitely would stay again if I’m ever in College Station. The only thing I will not do is valet park. For the price I paid, I expected the valet to go retrieve my truck for me. All he did was handed me the keys and pointed me to my truck. Very disappointed in that service.
Attended a lunch meeting here today. Everyone was served chicken and rice. When I asked for a vegetarian option, the server said shed ask. Twenty minutes later, they brought me a side salad. It wasnt bad, but definitely not a main dish. Anybody that cannot present a decent vegetarian meal should not call themselves a chef. Completely unimpressed.
What hotel has a 24 hour fitness center on the third floor? Some meathead felt the need to slam the weights at 10:30pm, and apparently there’s nothing management can or will do about it. Much to the dismay of those of us in close proximity to said fitness center. Poor forethought on the part of the hotel.
The rooms and linens are pretty goodThe ac worked wellI think on some things they went overkill on the look and forgot about comfort and functionI have called about 10 times and I have still not talked to a personI think everybody should have their own personal app and computer generated menu system for them to use to bill you and try to contact yoyBasically turnabout is fair playPut the inconvenience on them
Solid hotel one day. But they opened way before they had any idea what they were doing. Check in is a total mess. The restaurant isnt open. When I asked for reservations, they gave me dominos and two restaurants that were closed. Seriously...this is a total train wreck of a business. Super disappointed and will never come back.

Absolutely appreciate all the attention to detail that has been put into this hotel.Very relaxed atmosphere accentuated by a very welcoming staff made our stay fantastic. The lobby, lounge, bar and patio areas are comfortable and appealing while the same attention to perfection flows right into the rooms.Fabulous property…we will be back!

2022-01-16I am normally a Marriott stay when I travel, but I was told to try The George hotel one day. Since I stayed at the Cavalier (their sister property), I figured why not give it a try. I must say I truly enjoyed my stay here. The customer service was excellent from Sanantha at the Front desk to the valet. They have a nice bar that stays open until 12 am (possibly 2am if busy) and a nice restaurant named 1791 whiskey bar with great items to choose from. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice and quiet. You are near a variety of stores, restaurants and even a cinema. It is very easy to locate from street view. I am very happy that I decided to stay here. Being a member of the National Press Club of Washington DC and Founder of Get Up Radio Media, I tend to be very selective where I stay. I will definitely place this on the list of hotels to stay at in the future from now on along with my Marriott stays. Great for business, couples (romantic or event related) and family. The pricing us very good as it has the same pricing as Marriott. Though I enjoy the Marriott Elite status program better, I do like how The George treats their loyal customers. Thank you for a great stay and look forward to coming back again in the near future.

2022-01-13This was a great experience. The atmosphere at the hotel is great.Downstairs they have shuffleboard and chess to play to pass the time. A very nice pool area. The hotel is really kept up. The hallways while awaiting an elevator have silent moves to enjoy. This is a must stay at hotel at least once.

2022-02-22The George is by far my favorite place to stay in College Station. Rooms are always clean and the bartenders are always friendly. One thing I’d like to bring attention to is that I’ve stayed here about 5/6 times and I signed up for their VIP program, and every time I check in it never fails, they ask “is this your first time here?” I think that small recognition of vip members would go along way. Makes me wonder what the program is for anyways. On one stay with my 88 yo mother, the manager complementary upgraded our room and my mother was so impressed with him! I highly recommend the George as a classy property! Ps. I hope the breakfast will be coming back as it is a good breakfast and is a nice perk added. Thanks Valencia Group!

2022-02-09Arrived around 11:15pm. Backed into a spot by the entrance. Went in staff was extremely accommodating notified me that valet hours were over but gave me a parking pass for the night. Luggage cart was available so we unloaded and were in our room within 10 minutes of arrival. 2nd floor. I read some of the other reviews complaining about noise but we didn’t hear anything. Our 9 month old didn’t either obviously because she slept right through the night which is a big deal because, well as parents know, routines. Great atmosphere, Right in the middle of everything. Fitness center open 24/7. I don’t think I’d ever stay anywhere else! We came to see Midland at Hurricane Harry’s and booked at The George because it’s walking distance.
