This was our last option. We were going to go camp at Big Bend but due to weather(snow storm 12/30/2020) we had to cancel and all other hotels had been booked. We arrived and the check in is at the dinner. When walking in in to the hotel it smelled like marijuana and cigarettes. The room was ok no hot water. I was expecting a comforter but all they had was a thin light brown blanket for you. Other than that thankful we had a night to sleep in a warm place even tho I really wanted to Camp at Big Bend National Park.
Positive: new and clean. good breakfast Negative: no hair dryer. took a while for the staff to show up at the front desk
Its a pain dealing with a restaurant when needing anything, like checking in.Several items in the room were broken or duck taped. I tried to extend my stay, knowing my credit card was on file.....nope. They refused, and needed me to come to the restaurant BEFORE allowing it. I had to call from my cell, because the room phone is just for looks.So, I got dressed and just left.I used priceline and it was $88 after tax. Dont waste your time or money. The other motels in this area, also suck. Just go to an Airbnb. Cheaper. Far better customer service.
Had a rough start, when we went to check in they had given our room (which was the last one) to someone else, so they offered us an upgrade but when we got to the room it had not been cleaned. the woman working was very nice and she rushed to clean the room for us and she also wrote a note for complimentary breakfast. the hotel is self it nothing special. definitely just a place to sleep but because she went out of here way to try and make the experience better thats what counts in my book.
Not too great, the main check in is at the restaurant next door. The person working for the motel isn’t too great on how to do the job. The building isn’t too great looking, as I been to many motels, I expect this one to be better as it look nice on the outside. Make sure you close your door good, night not fully close too. They don’t have the breakfast bar like most do, no laundry room either for guest.
Freezing cold A/C after a hot hike in Big Bend - awesome! We stayed here and had a blast at Ole Crystal and Railroad Blues on karaoke night. The diner fare is simple and the staff gets grumpy when you customize your order, but its the only 24H restaurant in town and it doubles as a concierge desk. We found the hotel staff to be super friendly. The room was clean and the views on the property were spectacular from the back porch. Will absolutely stay here again on my next trip to Marfa.
The checkin location is at Pennys Diner. The room was nice and clean. Need to let the water run for a bit to get hot water before shower. Overall it was a 4.5 star.
In four days the room was never cleaned. I had no toilet paper. No breakfast anymore. TV channel changer did not work, and I could not use the internet because it was open and not secure.
Wasnt bad for a single nights stay. It was quite and pet friendly. Room could have been a bit cleaner, trash under the bed and a damp feeling to the room. Check in is at the diner in front of the hotel, it went pretty quick, friendly staff. Overall would stay again if passing through Alpine again.
I have no idea what the bad review people are talking about. The staff are amazing here - friendly, courteous, professional, and helpful. The room was clean, quiet, and centrally located for touring Big Bend. I would definitely stay here again.
Left one small bag of trash in the room, and received $100 charge for stealing 4 towels and trashing the room. They will get you for extra, its pathetic.
Had a issue with the bathroom guy came to fix at 8 so we left for the day came back to the room at 8, room was left open by matinace all day with our stuff in the room house keeping did not clean, towels that matinace used was still on the bathroom floor. SMH Never again 😒
Newly done rooms, carpet, beds,pillows etc. Has a small hotel setup but nicely kept grounds. Staff was very friendly. Only complaint is check in at diner and the girls didnt know how to check us in had to wait for another employee who had gone to pick up railroaded. Its a great stay for the price!
DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!! I made a reservation online but upon my arrival I was told that they were fully booked and that I had to find a new place to stay. The lady said their booking system was down and she refused to help me finding a new hotel - whattttt! I was left strayed for a few hours Hell No! This is the WORST experience EVER! Just go to Quality inn or Holiday inn! Theyre just a minute away. A bit pricier but at least your room is gaurenteed!
12/26/2018: Wow! The joint has been spiffed up. Lookn good. Clean and comfortable. I love it. Did I forget ... Affordable! I had a great dinner and breakfast at the restaurant next door. The same place that answers calls (eventually) and where you register.
Pictures make hotel look nicer. Nobody is ever at the check in desk. (Inside penny’s diner which is odd) I was told my room was ready but I had to wait til housekeeping got there to clean..
Quite run down property; a lot of problem during check-in at 1:00 am night inspite of informing the motel reception 5 hours back and assured us for 24- hours check-in. They cancelled the booking and the trainee person in the reception had a hard time to find out the reservation details. The room was OK but washroom needs urgent spruce up. Not recommended.
Rum down place. Carpet and other too dirty. Never got bath towels up on several requests and had to get hold of cleaning staff and I brought them myself. Checking in and checking out big hassle. Lady desk was away and we waited for an hour to check in. They made us to pay two extra times in spite of paying online. Have to go back and check our online payments. They never clean or change anything inside the room . No matter you make several requests. Very under staffed.
Arriving in the parking lot, I normally expect to see a main entrance/lobby. Nothing. Not even any doors facing the parking lot except one marked crew lounge which was a large vacant room that didnt go anywhere. If it werent for a friendly maintenance guy who pointed us toward a Diner across the parking lot and told us that is where you check in. So, new arriving customers, there is no lobby. Go to the Diner. There is no breakfast included with the room. If you go to the Diner for breakfast, its cash only. The room was reasonably clean and quiet. There are probably better bargains in Alpine.

1- there was only a decaf packet when we checked in .2-when our room was cleaned no coffee was left. 3-the coffee pot was not washed when our room was cleaned. 4-there were no new toiletries left when the room was cleaned. 5-the room was not vacuumed. 6-the bathroom was not swept or mopped. 7-we had an ADA room near the end of the hall but were not able to open the door (we had 4 room keys and none worked)
Terrible service. Rude employees!! My room wasnt even clean. As i entered the floor was dirty, it smelled terrible and the restroom was just horrific! Tub was full of hair and dirty. No toilet paper nor towels. We asked them if they could clean it and all they did was spray bleach everywhere. Never book a room here!
Management was amazing during our stay. The Diner across the parking lot has great breakfast too! If I ever end up back in Alpine, I wont hesitate to come back to Travelodge!
Reception desk is at restaurant located on property. Arrived 640 pm and room had not been cleaned. Man that cleaned room did good job. Expected more fo 85 bucks
Made reservation here on Feb 24, 2018 for our stay on March 15, 2018. Upon arrival they told us that the people did not check out from the room we reserved and they were full so gave us names of places where we could possibly stay. We drove in from Ruidoso, New Mex and they did text us at 4:45 that afternoon. Of course, we had no service prior to arrival at 5:15 so had no clue we could not stay. Had they notified us at checkout when the people did not leave, we would have continued on I-10 rather than coming all this way south. Terrible way to treat customers. Manager needs to be replaced or retrained.
Cosy motel, decent location in Alpine, quite close to Big Bend national park. Check-in and check-out take place in the accompanying 24/7 diner which is nice to have right next to the motel. Staff were very friendly and helpful and I had a nice smooth experience traveling here.
Terrible place to stay unless you work for the railroad... was told several times that we were not important... we had planned to stay 7 nights and paid for 7 nights.. we only stayed 4. no refunds...hell they cleaned the room one time during our entire stay.. no fresh towels... nothing... horrible horrible horrible... sad if this is the way Wyndham is doing business
The rooms were clean but really small. The chrck in was at the diner in front of the actual hotel. Just a really sketchy place in general
No breakfast at this hotel. You check in and check out at Pennys Diner next door. They should at least offer a discount for getting breakfast there.
Small facility that caters to the oil field workers. Finding a room here is limited. Rooms are nicely appointed and clean .
The price is very affordable. The customer service of the staff is friendly and very attentive to any needs or inquiries. A 24hrs dinner is right outside to the right of the parking lot. +++

2022-04-30Positive: Room was clean and bed was comfortable Negative: Room had a musty smell. You had to check in at the diner which we thought was a little strange. Stopped in to have breakfast at the diner at 6:30 in the morning waited about 15 minutes for someone to wait on us. No one ever did, so we left.

2022-06-10Honestly its like visiting halfway house, would I entered the building it smelled bad the walls are dirty, my room floor didnt look well vacuumed. And the room order wasnt pleasant. I honestly will never go back and highly do not recommend

2021-12-27Had a confirmed reservation and they had already charged my Bank account upon arrival. They explained that they had no room available. I had to get another room that was $55 per night higher. $110 difference for the two nights I was to stay. Poor management. No excuses.

2022-01-22Positive: Cleaner than other hotels in alpine. Negative: No shower curtain, no blankets in room, hair on bed sheets, overwhelming mold presence in shower, leftover shampoo bottles in shower from last guests, floor dirty, phone was sticky and gross, diner check in weird and hard to navigate when you arrive.

2021-09-08Positive: The air conditioning was great. Bathroom water pressure very nice. The room size was nice. Negative: The other guests were very loud and it sounded like people were pacing back and forth repeatedly from 8pm-5am. Figured out it was the noise from people using the stairs.

2021-12-11Booked double bed room at the hotel a week in advance, traveling with my 18yr old son who is 6’4”. I was told the double bed room all gone when I checked in at 9pm, after 7hrs of driving. And the front desk lady was so rude and condescending, made up excuses on the fly: 1. Your Expedia booking does count, because Alpine is a small place; 2 If I don’t like a one bed room I am welcome to cancel and leave - like 9pm at night I have to go back to the street and find another hotel because this greedy lady decided to double book their rooms like airline company and thought it is OK to tell a travel guest to find another hotel late at night? Their final solution is to have a roller bed for my son, we had to use an ottoman at the end so part of his legs not in the air.

2021-11-30Disorganized, run down, dirty, that pretty much sums it up. They have no idea if rooms have been cleaned after other people have checked out. This is a place that has completely given up.

2021-12-29They are often overbooked!! Don’t book this hotel. Bad service!!! We drove for 7 hours and the front desk said they don’t have rooms and asked us to find another hotel. Aweful!!!

2021-02-12Staying here because of work put me here. I told my supervisor I would not be in till after midnight, so I didnt try to check in till 2 am when I arrived. The front desk lady said my reservation was canceled at midnight for me to call someone at 2 am. I told her I would not wake up my supervisor. So I had to sleep in my truck waiting for sup to get up. CLC ended up having to call her to get this fixed.Not sure how people say the staff is so nice, just the opposite.They dont clean your room because of covid-19, so I work all day come back to clean my room. How sweet is that!Very seldom do u get a hot shower sometimes early in the morningThere are no bugs at all in my room on 2nd floor not sure of 1st floor
