Wingate Houston near NRG ParkMedical Center in Houston
The rooms had dirty sheets in not one but 2 of the rooms we stayed in. The shower was very dirty and they sell their parking spots to concert goers instead of leavening them for the customers who purchased them. The staff was not very nice and DONT ACCEPT CASH. They added alot of rules that weren’t included in the policy (we checked). Not a great stay. Sketchy, gross, and unenjoyable
I stayed on a week night. There was no event going on at the nearby NRG stadium, so it was very quiet. They offered a grab and go breakfast which included: apple, banana, low-fat vanilla yogurt, and a muffin. They room was clean, and the bed comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel had a classic feel to it. I would definitely stay there again.
I paid to stay here for 2 nights this past weekend for Astroworld. When the festival got cancelled due to the tragic loss of lives and a true emergency situation, this hotel refused to refund me for the second night that I no longer needed. Not to mention the shower did not work, the balcony was boarded up, there were rat traps all around the premises. No signs to point you in which direction your room is. The thermostat and air was either too cold or too hot and would only shut off/on when it felt like it. We basically froze the night we stayed and woke up with head colds. In a case like this one, this hotel could have been much more understanding. The only positive was the convenience of the location next to NRG.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Rooms were clean but very dated and something felt off, never really felt fully comfortable. Doers don’t close properly, but dual locking seems to fix that. If you’re not on the 1st floor, there is only one working elevator and it honestly it isn’t in good shape. Area the hotel is in isn’t the best either. However, the staff (especially front desk staff) really made my stay better and is what allows me to rate this place 4 stars despite some of the cons. Price was good as well.
So, the hotel is old. But they charge over $100 per night for the room which isnt much by some standards but more than a newer and cleaner motel. The elevator had a stench that resembled a mild skunk smell and I woke up to see a roach crawling on the nightsand. Some parts of the building need a new coat of paint and others need outright renovation. There is likely mold in the AC ducts because I was here at a time of year that I do not have allergies but had some while staying in the room.I will say however, the staff is top notch. They were polite and helpful.
If I could give no stars I would. First off, I get there with both of my boys around 5pm and the system was down. They had no clue on what to do so we had to wait. They finally accommodate us and we went to monster jam. One of the boys gets really sick and we had to leave. We get back to the hotel to relax, take showers and all. There are red stains on the carpet which could be blood or anything but it’s gross. The air wasn’t working at all. The front desk calls me to let me know that my children were seen out in the hallway (in which boy of my boys where in the room with me) and that they couldn’t be in the hallway. I let them know that my boys have been with me the entire time. This place is not recommended….I have pictures of the blood stains on the floor!
Chose this hotel due to it’s proximity to NRG Stadium for Astroworld. Staff was completely overwhelmed with the occupancy. Terrible room not worth the $297/night they up charged for this weekend. Seeing that it’s $87/night now is still a rip off. Hotel is completely outdated. The sheets were visibly soiled, when we asked for more towels, it looked like someone had wiped their face on it prior to handing it to me. Miscellaneous stains located on all their furniture. Visible dust on outdated appliances — it is clear this staff does not clean appropriately even before COVID-19 protocols. Staff was slow and unknowledgeable. I notified them weeks before requesting a refrigerator and microwave and they refused to accommodate my request. Told them the ice machine (probably from the 1970s) was out and it wasn’t until another attendant told us there was ANOTHER ice machine in the tower (which seemed a little more updated). You had to pay for breakfast and they only served until 9am (which I’ve never heard of). It was a terrifying stay on top of a terrifying weekend.
First of all, I would like to say that the amenities for this hotel are okay. What made me give this hotel 3 stars is Mr. Marcus ( manager of the hotel). My family and I found ourselves going through a dilemma with evaluating from the hurricane. Mr. Marcus was so gracious and empathetic to us. He worked with us to make our stay better. We need more people like him.
Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Hotel is aged. Tub & floor stained. AC blow snowballs (a plus). Right across the street from stadium. No refrigerator in room as stated. No hot breakfast due to covid. Had to go to next door hotel for pool & bar. Shouldnt charge 5 star prices for 3 star hotel🤷🏾♀️
Hotel was awesome and right across from the rear of the hotel is NRG Stadium (Home of the Houston Texans). The rooms were clean and the staff was great. The cons were: the elevator seemed out of date as if a few people on at once would definitely get stuck, the pool area wasnt accessible (under construction) I get that its still Covid but many hotels pool areas are open.
Rooms smell like mold. Very outdated. Says pool open and actually closed and worst of all, I check in and they tell me there is gonna be hot breakfast which is included in my room and then they say you only get a pop tart, a fruit and a drink. What a total ripoff for being associated with Wyndham hotel. Very disappointing that they would stoop so low.
Excellent service. The hotel was still being remodeled, but was clean. Where the Wingate really shined was the staff. Bebe checked us in and was able to change help us fix a mistake wed made in our booking. Highly recommended if you need a place to stay near NRG Park.
If youre tall, or handicapped, I dont recommend this property. Im 55 and I could touch the ceiling without even getting up on my toes all the way. The handicapped accessible room we were given was down three long hallways and on the 2nd floor and the bathtub was narrow and slippery. Many things need repair and the towels look old and smelled greasy. First time Ive been disappointed in a Wyndham property.
Attendant made a remark that was inappropriate about not tearing up the room to grown adultsWill not recommend anyone to lodge here if this is how she feelsDo not understand why she said it and dont careIf I should return I pray that she wont be attending the registration desk
First this place looks sketchy. Checked in keys didn’t work, so the employee use a card just to open another room. When we told him about this 2 times he made it seem like an inconvenience to come help us even though we made the walk to the front desk. We finally got into a room and the room smelled, didn’t look clean and didn’t lock. We needed up leaving because we felt unsafe.

2022-06-04This hotel was nice, clean and comfortable. We booked a king on Southwest App, but when we arrived they gave us a room w/queen beds. I swear they were Full size though. If you’re a Texans football fan this hotel is perfectly located across from the NRG Stadium. We Missed breakfast, but it was basic grab n go bagel, muffins, fruit, yogurt & coffee.

2022-02-27I paid $350 a night for 4 nights for the World Championship BBQ cook-off and not once was my room checked. Had to call for clean towels and had to put my trash in the hall hoping someone would pick it up. I understand we can walk to NRG from here but you are still a hotel charging a lot of money and should take care of your guests.

2022-04-20No cable and poor reception of basic channels, no fitness center, pool area closed for renovations, funky smell in the room, full sized beds instead of queens, only two bath towels in the room and apparently theyre working on them and dont have any to give us even though the parking lot is empty. Oh, and it is a nightmare getting a coach bus into/out of the parking lot.All of that greeted us after they refused to let our group out of a contract weeks before our scheduled stay. Clearly a cash cow, with zero regard for guest experience.

2022-05-22Your get what you pay for with this place. It was decent beds and great service. The hotel facility itself could use a tune up. The hallway air-conditioning unit on the second floor was leaking through the ceiling to the first floor near the staircase. They did serve breakfast but the options were very limited. It was a brown to go bag with a fruit (only apples), Otis Spunkmeyer muffin, Activia yogurt (we got black cherry, peach and 2 strawberry), bottle of water and Apple & Eve apple juice (we got regular and fruit punch flavors). The hotel served its purpose and we would stay again if it was its low cost to stay.

2022-03-06We got here on a Tuesday for the HLR and left on a Sunday, never once cleaned our room or took the trash out , had to go get our towels and wash cloths every night. We called them 3-4 times on Saturday night wanting towels and wash cloths they just kept telling us they were on their way .The front desk told us they only had one housing keeping lady for the whole building ,I guess I believe that now. After paying the price to stay at the run down place ,we had trouble getting in every night because they would rather charge other people to pay $10 to use their parking spots to park for the Rodeo rather than take care of their customers that booked their rooms. Their (breakfast) consists of cold coffee with either equal or sweet&low and hazelnut creamer Only for the coffee ,banana , apple , yogurt and orange juice

2022-04-02Wish I could leave photos. The lobby looks nice but the halls smell, elevated is shaky and smells like roach spray, and the bathrooms is gross especially shower. I asked to see another room to see if it was better and it wasn’t. But I will never stay here again. Before checking in I’ll ask to see a room and check showers.

2021-12-28The only reason they got a 1 star is because it is very close to NRG stadium. 1st they didnt have our reservation available and wanted to charge me more than what the booking said. If I didnt have the email there and ready who knows what they would have charged. 2nd their elevator broke down and you had to either walk to the other end of the hotel or used the stairs. 3rd the key stopped working, so after walking up 3 flight of stairs we had to walk back down to get new keys. 4th the halls were super humid and were smelly due to it. The AC in the rooms didnt work properly and it was also humid in there. Last the fan in the bathroom didnt work, so if you took a hot shower it would just build up the humidity. They try making it up to you with a complementary drink in the hotel next door. Its 2 people in the reservation and you only give 1 drink? Yeah I was not gonna spend any more money at this place.

2022-03-22HORRIBLE. Could not get in parking lot to check in because owner rents parking spaces for rodeo and security wouldnt let us in. We had a reservation. We had a room that slept 4 but only 2 staying. There was one wash cloth when we checked in. Floors throughout were very dirty. Qtip in elevator. Elevator made horrible noise so we had to start using stairs. Asked to speak to manager. Never called. Refrigerator stopped working. Promised a hot breakfast. There was coffee, apples, yogurt and vanilla packaged muffins. Had to call twice to get towels as they had none clean. Horrible and greedy management. DO NOT STAY HERE. Its worth an uber to actually get service somewhere else. Wyndham should be ashamed to have their name on this hotel.

2022-03-27Out initial room had a floor full of water, ice machine near us was broken and there were several buckets and trash cans in the lobby catching water. The property smelled like mold and wasnt Wyndham quality. Very rude manager name Adam who I had interaction with on Sunday afternoon is a added disgrace to the property! Night staff and night management was very helpful!
